MacBook keeps showing communication error on wireless Canon MP560

I have iMac and MacBook both wirelessly set up to print from Canon MP560 wireless all-in-one printer.  All has worked just fine until recently when I began getting "communication error" when attempting to print wirelessly from the MacBook.
I have re-installed the printer driver and all is still OK with the iMac, but I just cannot print from the MacBook.  Canon support says it is the computer and not the printer since the printer does in fact work with the iMac.
Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Canon MX 870 Communication Error Solution. At least this worked for me. The problem has to do with Bon Jour.
Go to the setup panel on the Canon MX870.
Select Device Settings->LAN Settings->Other Settings->Bonjour settings.
Next select Enable/Disable Bonjour and make sure that it is enabled.
Next select Service name and either leave what is there or put in a name like "Canon Mx870 Bon Jour" or "My Stupid Printer".
Next Enable LPR advertising (not sure this is necessary but my Windows7 under VMware Fusion found the printer).
Next get out of the printer's menus and select System Preferences->Print & Scan on your Mac (I am running Mountain Lion). Delete of whatever entries you had for the Canon printer and scanner. Then use + to add a printer and your should find  "Canon Mx870 Bon Jour" or "My Stupid Printer" or whatever you called it. Select it to set it up and ditto on the scanner.
By the way, I reserved an IP address in my Airport thinking maybe that would help. Nope. Then I updated all of my Canon drivers, utilities, etc. couple of days ago. Nope, got the same stupid and very annoying Communication Error. Then I did the Bon Jour thing and now all is right with the world. OK, maybe not everything, but getting rid of the Communication Error is very satisfying. I will repost some misery if it returns.
It would probably be a good idea to update all the Canon stuff and apply any other updates to your OS as a step "0" before you do the above. I wound up having to download 10 or maybe 11 files from the Canon website. There is probably a much smarter way to update the Canon stuff. If someone knows please post it in this thread.
Anyway it is all working fine. And, best of all, it makes sense because Apple uses the Bon Jour protocol to find printers so if it is not set or set correctly on the MX 870 then it make sense that OS X keeps losing it.
So I hope this helps relieve some pain out there.

  • ITunes keep showing unknown error 48 while restoring iphone 4s. I've already followed applesupport suggestions of reinstalling iTunes, deleting previously downloaded ipsw on my computer and re-downloading it (countless times!) but still to no avail.

Hi. A very much help needed.
    - iTunes keep showing unknown error (48) while restoring my iphone 4s
    - I've already re-install iTunes various times
    - Already delete previously downloaded 8.3 ipsw and re-downloaded it countless times
    - Changed and edited hosts in windows drivers as per shown on guides
    but... to no avail!!!!
I am now without any phone to be used.
    HELP ME PLEASE

    Hello Sean,
It sounds like you are constantly needing to restore your phone because it keeps going into recovery mode. Usually putting a device into recovery mode and restoring it can help isolate an issue to your iPhone hardware if an issue persists afterwards. I would try manually putting it into recovery mode and restoring it 1 more time:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device

If that does not resolve it the symptoms indicate to me that it is a hardware issue causing this to happen and would seek service for it:

  • NFC works sometimes and keeps showing read error messages

I have just bought a brand new Sony Xperia Z3 Dual (D6633), but I am having a little boring problem. When I pair my smartband or any other equipment trough NFC it just works after some attempts and keeps showing read error messages every time. It seems to me that is a software issue as it works sometimes. How should I proceed?

Unfortunattely it didn't work, as our credit cards in Brasil don't have NFC technology.
I will try to reset my phone to factory defaults as soon as Lollipop is launched so I reinstall my apps just one time.
If I fix with the firmware update I´ll let you know. If this issue persist I will take to Sony Support Service in my city.
Thanks a lot for your concern.

  • Communication error has occurred - Canon PIXMA printer

This was driving me nuts! I tried many of the other ideas offered in these discussions, but nothing worked. Sometimes my Canon PIXMA MP640 WiFi printer would work, usually it wouldn't.  I would get "A communication error has occurred" message on my MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard) and the print job would just stay in the queue until I deleted it. Most of the time I needed  to re-enter the network password at the printer BEFORE EVERY PRINT JOB which was a pain because the password was 10 characters long and I could only dial in each letter one at a time.
If you are having similar trouble, before you do anything CHECK THE WIFI SIGNAL STRENGTH USING THE PRINTER MENUS!  On my model, this was done by going from the Home menu to Settings->Device Settings->LAN Settings->Confirm LAN settings->Print LAN Details.  If the signal strength on the printout shows less than 50%, there is too much interference from other electronics in the area (or the printer is too far from the router).  In my case, the printer was in the next room, i.e., not too far from the router so I knew it had to be EM interference.
At first, my signal strength was showing 36%.  Then I moved the printer into the same room as the wifi router, within 7ft and directly in line of sight of it and it went to 62%. I thought it should be much higher, so I moved the printer to within 4ft and it went to 80%.  Then I unplugged the LCD TV (which was NOT turned on at any time) that was on the counter nearby, and it jumped to 90%.
After months of poking at this problem and finally resigning to the idea that the printer was broken, I tried this and now it works perfectly as long as the TV is unplugged.  I plan on moving the router away from the TV so I won't have to unplug it whenever I print.
    Hope this helps!

I've wrestled with this off and on with this printer ever since I got it. Just checked and my signal was at 44%. Guess that could be it!... guess I'll do some relocating of the router, boost the signal or run an ethernet line. Never though the signal being that low would cause this many print errors.
I thought is was just happening when the printer would go to sleep... or not used for a few days.
    Thanks!

  • Communication Error with wireless router, Works fine with Ethernet cable.

Video iChat is fine when my MBP and other MB's and MBP's are at my house using the Netgear 240 rangemax wireless router. I'm currently running High speed Internet via cable modem through Time Warner Cable. When I try to chat with them while they are at home, I get a communication error. I then tried to use the Ethernet cable hooked up to the cable modem to my MacBook Pro. It worked fine. I would like to use video iChat via my wireless router. I don't understand why it is not working. I think it is my router. Do I need to buy an Airport Extreme Base Station or can I still use this router. Can you possibly help me configure this Netgear router? The internet connection is fine when I use the wireless router.
    MBP 15" C2D 2.33   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Cable Modem, Netgear RangeMax 240 WPNT834 wireless router

I have not had very good experiences with the Netgear routers. I can't say that it is the router causing your problem, however, it might be the effective wireless bandwidth over your router. Do a speedcheck and determine the download and upload speed with wireless. Hopefully you're getting about 400Kbps up and 400Kbps down or about 1000Kbps in total.

  • Suddenly, Firefox is very slow and lethargic and keeps showing an error message on the side of the page. Why?

Yesterday, I was working on the website, Shutterfly. Suddenly, there was an error message that it couldn't find a certain page. Now, Firefox continues to be very slow... and the error message keeps showing up on the search page, sometimes just parts of the message. I can still search but it is painfully slow and loads page partially and strangely... sometimes not full graphics, etc.

Or you can try what lots of other people have found, and thats that the base connector is dirty and the contacts are shorted by some debris.

  • Imovie keeps showing -43 error

need some help i am working on a project but it will not let me use idvd or save it keep showing reror -43 i dont understand alot of mac talk need a simple solutuion

Error -50 usually means that there is a corrupted clip somewhere in your project timeline.  Try creating a new project and copying half of your problem project to the new project timeline.  See if you can share this.  If yes then the error lies in the other half.  Continuing this process you should be able to find the problem clip.  Some times simply copying all of the project (edit - select all) into a new one solves the problem, so it might be worth trying this first.
"after each try iMovie jumps around where ever i click the mouse like the whole window jumps around to where the pointer is on the screen then just turns its self off"   I'm not sure I understand exactly what you mean.

  • My iPhone keeps showing an error message and the external speaker wont work

Ok I have had my iPhone 3GS about 3 months now and recently it has started showing an error message "This accessory is not optimized for this iPhone, you may experience noise caused by mobile interference and a decrease in mobile strength". The external speaker will not work either, the only sound it will produce is the ringtone. Any other sound, message tone, sounds from apps, songs on my ipod, sounds from videos, will not be produced! Although when i plug the head phones in the sound will work for everything and then this error message will come up again and the sound will stop working. It's like the phone thinks it is plugged into a docking system or something. Also the phone will lose signal for long periods of time and sometimes not come back unless i restore the phone. I have tried EVERYTHING and nothing has worked, can anyone help me please?

    That's correct.
You are limited to 16 tracks, whereas devices with the A7 chip can mix 32 tracks.   But your updated iPad 2 is able to run the current software.   I am using my iPad 2 now.   I have found very few things it can't do under the new IOS 7

  • Used macbook keeps showing old users iTunes account

HELP……I am so sick of this crap……I purchased a used Macbook from a local computer shop that takes them in on trades.  Well, I get home and the thing is great.  I love it except for one **** thing.  I CANNOT get the old users account to stop showing up under the app store.  The old account keeps telling me that two of my apps need updating, which I cannot get the old persons account logged off because I do not know their password.  The username mkp0818 is what keeps popping up and therefore I always have a two over my app store icon, because it shows that those two apps that the other party owned needs updating and of course I need help…..Hurry...

You need to erase the hard drive and install OS X either from the installer discs that came with the computer or from an Internet Recovery, whichever is supported by the computer. If it's a 2012 or late model you use Internet Recovery. If before 2012 you will need the installer discs that came with the computer when it was new.

  • VisualRF not starting and showing communication error timeout

    Problem:
VisualRf is not starting and shows connection timed out on the Airwave GUI.
If we look at the visualRF logs,  from the location /var/log/visualrf/visualrf.log
we can see the below error in the log:
2015-06-14 11:53:29,461 WARN Inventory com.airwave.amp.RoleParserImpl Existing login cookie is null. Initialize amp login.
2015-06-14 11:53:29,479 ERROR Inventory com.airwave.amp.RoleParserImpl Failed to initialize session cookie.
    2015-06-14 11:53:29,479 ERROR Inventory com.airwave.amp.RoleParserImpl prepareMethod
    java.lang.Exception: Failed to login.
    Diagnostics:
When we look at the below error,
    java.lang.Exception: Failed to login.
We could see that VisualRF is trying to login to Airwave database and failing to login for whatever reason. When we look at the Airwave database for this visualRF user, we could see this below:
The highlighted username in Yellow is the visualRF, VisaulRF creates this username randomly and we could see that login_attempts for this user is 10 and Airwave disables the user after 10 attempts. Therefore that explains why is_enabled  is 0.
This could happen for different reasons, when we restore the visualRF backup and backup has some issues or when we do a vrf bootstrap, to do a factory reset on visualRF or could be any other reason.
    Solution
To resolve this issue, all we need to do is update the Airwave database to enable this user, as shown below:
    [root@localhost mercury]# dbc "update users set is_enabled = 1 where username = 'AihmrH3MHQ';"
once done, VisualRF would start working normally.

Got the screenshot, thanks. And hello again Rob
    Follow-up:
    2) Not sure that it matters, but what's the url you see in the BrowserLab UI after making the request? What path do you have defined as the Local Site Path in your site definition in DW?
    3) How are you requesting the screenshots? From the BrowserLab panel inside DW?
    4) Open up the BrowserLab panel in DW and see what the drop-down control is set to. If it doesn't say "Local" change it to Local and press the preview button and let me know what happens.
    6) I want to make sure that none of the assets your page(s) need live outside the directory you've got within your DW site definition.
    Thanks,
    Mark
