MacBook making clicking sound when moved?! not the sms HELPP

Today, i was using my MacBook and it started to make a clicking like sound when moved from side to side. I have had my MacBook for less then a week so I have no idea what could have happened. The computer has not beed dropped or anything! It is not the sms because I turned it off to see if the noise would still happen, and it did. Also this happenes when the computer is off. I cannot take it to a store because the closest one to me is an hour away.

Normally, a clicking sound would be an indication of a bad HD or if the Superdrive is trying to read a damage disc. Personally, since its a week-old computer, I'd take a one hour drive than taking the chance of the HD failing after the warranty expired. You can try calling Apple as well (1800APPL). You should still have FREE phone support.

  • My iphone is making clicking sounds when I try to slide it or tap on an app.  I can not make phone calls.

I hit something on my Iphone to make it start talking.  I also was not able to slide the screen up or down right or left.  I looked around on the web and found out how to stop it from talking,  Now it is making clicking sounds when I tap on an app.  The screen will still not slide. I have to tap on an app about 5 or six times to make it do anything.  Now I can't make a phone call because the keys will not respond when I tap on them.

i am sorry to say but there is no way to undo a software update to go back you have to go threw your phone provider and have then do a replacement on the phone and just not do the update. when they receive the phone they will send it off for testing and to have the bugs fixed

  • Why is there a clicking sound when I close the cover and enter sleep mode?

why is there a clicking sound when I close the cover and enter sleep mode?

    Hi katesvca,
I too have an iPad smart cover, and all that clicking sound is is basically the standard lock sound for iOS. The Smart cover is equipped with magnets inside, and the iPad is also equipped with magnets, and when those magnets are closed together the iPad goes to sleep.
I hope this answers your question.

  • Canon S120 making funny sounds when moving it around (in automatic mode)

    Hi everyone,
I have a little question for those owning the Canon S120.
I just bought it and I noticed that my camera is making funny sounds when I move it around. Those sounds seem to occur more often when I'm in the automatic mode.  If I don't move the camera, it doesn't make any sound, but as soon as I move it, it does a little "toc-toc" sound (hard to describe, it's like the camera is adjusting something automatically when it moves).  It seems to come from inside the camera and not from outside.  I have owned my Canon cameras before and this is the first time I notice that.
    Has anyone else noticed that?
If so, is it "normal" or have I received a defective unit?
    Thanks for your help!

Open the MBP.  Place it on a towel so you can slide it around easily and not scratch it.  Take a #00 Phillips driver and take the bottom cover off.  3 of the screws will be longer than the rest.  Inspect the interior for anything that may be loose.
The other option is to take it to an Apple store genius bar and have them do it.
    Ciao.

  • Ipod "Click" sound when plug into the Computer

My Ipod harddrive clicked periodically when plugged into the computer which never happen before. I can hear the harddrive spin sound but periodically sound clicked in the harddrive.
Just wondering if anyone experienced this problem before?
Any suggestion how to fixed it? Is the warranty cover this kind of problem as well?
    THanks for all reply

Yeah I think so.. Some of the update fixed some problem but some of them make them worse and i hate when apple didnt give the search function on Ipod with video 1st generation
Just hope my ipod has no problem regarding this issue.

  • Macbook making clicking sound

Hello Everyone, my computer has been making some odd sounds from the bottom right corner, on the corner of where your right palm would rest. I have the MacBook Pro Early 2011 15-Inch model (8,2).
I've opened the computer once to upgrade the RAM, but the computer had been doing this before. I had figured that me putting the bottom back on would fix my problem, but it didn't.
Also, the cover that is removed to open the Mac is slightly more into the computer that it should be -  it isn't flush with the body of the computer. This is also in the same area the clicking is coming from. I, again, figured putting the cover back on would fix it from when I had gotten it - it didn't. I assume this is the reason the computer is clicking, but I'm not positive. I'm certain that it isn't the hard drive clicking either, I've heard that before and is quieter than this is.
Any help you could give would be very much appreciated. By the way, the computer IS under Applecare, so that is an option. Thanks!

So then use the coverage and call Apple.

  • RMBP clicking sound when moved and running

This macbook pro retina is a few weeks old and i have not experienced any problems so far until today. I noticed that when I move the macbook slightly when it is on soft surface it makes a sort of sound which at first I thought was the fan hitting something, a quick high pitch click. It is like the sound when you move a laptop when its spining a cd. Its almost like the sound a small bell makes. The noise only happens when its awake and open, if I close the screen I can't seem to hear it. The point when it makes the noise is when it moves slightly from being flat to the ground, thats why I can only hear it when its on my lap or on something the rocks. Also something i just realised is that it will not make the sound if I move it around when holding it while the it is running and open, this makes me think that it has something to do with it being pushed together from the bottom. It sounds as if it is coming from the air vents at the bottom of the screen which once again makes me think it has something to do with the fan. Could you reply on what you think I should do? Its a 15 inch screen by the way.
    Thanks

  • Clicking sound when moving computer around

I have a early 2011 15'' macbook pro, and when I pick it up off a desk (when it's still running) and I turn it a bit I hear a click sound.  I know there's an accelerometer built in to protect the hard drive, is this normal (due to hard drive protection)?  Because I had another macbook pro before but I never heard this click sound.  Should I go and get it checked?
    Any help is appreciated.

I have the same issue.  For more information, you will find an interesting discussion HERE.
I will add a question myself, related to Fortuny's post. As Apple puts it,
" If you must move it [the computer], sleep it by closing the lid or using the Apple Menu."
I know that, and most of the time I sleep my Macbook before moving it.
The problem is, it still does the annoying sound if I move it. In addition, I am sure it is sleeping since I am doing none of these actions.
So it is one of the following: either my macbookpro never sleeps (which might be, given the features of 10.8), or what apple says about the SMS being off during sleep is untrue.

  • Clicking sound when I press the top of screen near the front camera.

I bought an iphone 6 plus 3 weeks ago and after I used 7days, I found when I press the top of screen, I can hear something like clicking. Then I contact Apple and sent it back. After 1 week, they returned it back and said there was no problem. After I received it, I didn't even activate it, just pressed, the sound was back. Not only this, they made a deep scratch on the left top of back. I was so angry and I contacted them again and took a video. They told me to send it to apple support again. And today, they emailed me, said this is a normal behavior for iphone 6 and 6 plus, I will receive it tomorrow. It really xxxxed me. What can I do now? No way to express replacement, no way to repair. Please help me out, guys!!!!!

It is hard to tell from your description if you have a real defect. I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of your local Apple store and discuss/show it to them.

  • MacBook Pro 13 - Clicking Sound When Opening

I have a MBP 13 that runs perfectly. However recently I noticed a "clicking" sound when I open the display. The noise (a single click) appears to come from the upper right hand side of the screen. Any ideas on whether I should get this checked out?

    dcnjrich wrote:
I sent my MBP13 to Apple for repair. The tech indicated that the hinges were lubricated and tightened....and the sound still exists. Atleast I have it documented in the event there is any type of failure. Candidly I'm guessing that one of the magnets is loose as the noise does not occur when the laptop lid is closed.
If this was my MBP, I'd return it and ask them to fix it correctly, and if they can't, ask about a replacing it (I would miss it while it was gone, but I'd still be able to work on one of my other Macs. If you can't afford the time without it, your situation might be different; obviously that's your call.)

You should take it to an Apple store or an AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) Carefully inspect the hinge joint and make sure there is no debris that you can see, you can try carefully sliding some sticky tape thru the joint to clear any loose stuff out. But this sounds like there might be more going on here, and the hinge is something that you do not want to fool with.

Clicking sound when making phone call

I had this happen as well. Restarting my MacBook Pro (8,2) made it go away. At other times it seemed to appear when calling some phones (my wife's iPhone 4 and my son's Samsung phone) but not others (my land line), but this was not consistent. My phone is an iPhone 5. I'm hoping the iOS update due tomorrow will fix this.
