MacBook MB466LL/A has loose connection Any suggestions?

MacBook MB466LL/A has loose connection in screen producing line down the middle, if I mess with it (or even wedge something between hinge by the power button) it goes away. Repair center wants to replace whole thing which I can not afford. Any suggestions?

Have you used Software Update to update to 10.7.1. That update was suppose to fix some WiFi Issues.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4764

    Go step by step and test.
    1. Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
        Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly. It will take a while.
        Restart the computer.
        Start up in Safe Mode.

    My word, pages and email has become unstable any suggestions?
    This happens during the creation of email or word/pages documents.

    Try starting in Safe Mode and see if the problem still occurs?
    Restart holding the "shift" key.
    (Expect it to take longer to start this way because it runs a directory check first.)
    If this works look in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login items and delete any third party login items (-), you can always add them back with the (+).

    Just fixed this on my machine, the easiest way to remove this pop-up assuming you are no longer needing that software to print is the following:
    Open Finder
    Go > Go To Folder...
    Type In: "~/Library/Application Support"
    Delete All Folders Named Kodak
    Open System Preferences
    Go to "Security & Privacy"
    Click the lock and enter your admin password
    Click the Firewall Tab
    Go to "Firewall Options..."
    Find KodakAiO
    Right-click KodakAiOBonjourAgent or equivalent (I forget the exact name)
    Click "Show in Finder"
    Go Back to a folder and delete the Kodak Folder there.
    Remove Kodak from Firewall Options by selecting it and clicking the " - " button the base of the list.
       or
    Open Finder
    Go > Go To Folder...
    Type In: "~/Library/Printers"
    Delete All Folders Named Kodak
    I'm going off memory, so If I forgot something let me know.

  • I can't get AIM to send out texts messages on my new iPad. Says unable to connect, any suggestions? It's an iPad 2 wifi... Thanks

    Have a new iPad2 wifi- trying to text using the AIM app, keeps saying "unable to connect" any suggestions? Thanks

    Katie-
    I assume you already have an AIM account, and have entered the correct user name and password in the AIM App.
    This sounds similar to a problem where the iPad connects to your WiFi, but can't reach the internet.  It could be a compatibility problem with your WiFi router.
    You can try resetting the iPad's network.  Go to Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings.  You will then need to reconnect to your WiFi.
    Another thing to try is to reboot the iPad.  Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow.  The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes.  Rebooting will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Mozilla Firefox 7.0.1 is not loading web pages properly. It takes forever to load pages. Google Chrome and Internet Explorer load them rapidly. I have no spyware and disabled all addons. Nothing has worked. Any suggestions??

    Web pages are taking an extremely long time to load. Sometimes they don't load at all. This is especially true with video sites like YouTube. I scanned my entire computer with Ad-Aware, Malwarebytes, Iobit Malware Fighter, SuperAntiSpyware, Windows Defender, Malicious Software Remover Tool, and Emisoft Anti-Malware. I did an anti-virus scan with Avast. I also ran CCleaner and Advanced System Care to clean all junk. Nothing is working.

    Running about 7 tabs open at startup, this has always worked fine, here is the problem and the sequence of events leading up to hope. Any suggestions would be appreciated:
    Background:
    Mozilla updated me to 7.0 automatically a few days ago, no problems
    Yesterday they auto updated me to 7.0.1, now it won't connect
    Scaled back to 3 tabs at start now it connects but after a minute of so, the icon in the tabs just spinning and it isn't connected
    Scaled back to one tab the same thing
    Reinstalled Firefox, disabled the Norton firewall to test, same thing
    Checked the application setting on the firewall, it is set to allow or auto
    I downloaded Firefox 8 beta same issue
    Any suggestions would be appreciated, not sure it is foxfire or not but the upgrade to 7.0.1 started
    Anyway to go back to a pre 7 release?
    I disabled the add on and have the same problem.
    BTW IE 8 works fine.
    Thanks

  • I am not able to transfer anything from my Nokia to my iphone by bluetooth although it says connected when I transfer it comes up on the Nokia unable to connect. any suggestions?

    I am not able to transfer anything from my Nokia phone to my iphone via bluetooth although it say's connected on the iphone when I try to send it say's UNABLE TO CONNECT on the Nokia, I have restarted the phone but still no luck. any suggestions?

    Two different operating systems.
    It has nothing to do with the phones running different operating systems. Bluetooth is a platform independent standard. It's all due to the different Bluetooth profiles each device incorporates. iPhones do not have the file transfer profile.

  • Loosing focus, any suggestions????

    I am running a signed applet , which has Internal Frame having Menus, One of the menu item is having Ctrl-P as hot key for bringing up the customized print dialog box. On pressing "OK" on this print dialog box two things happen
    another browser window pops up for the user to show print preview.
    windows print dialog box comes up
    If a say cancel on this windows print dialog box and close the print preview browser window, ideally my focus should be back to my applet window, so that I can use hot keys again, but on Win 2000, I am loosing the focus somewhere. I am using java 1_3_1 plugin. It works fine on Sun.
    Any suggestions???????

    hi,
    maybe this will work.
    First you need a reference (JS) to your applet in the first browser window like this:
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <SCRIPT>
    var myapplet = null;
    function setFocus ()
    myapplet.requestFocus ();
    </SCRIPT>
    <BODY ... onload="init();" ...>
    <applet ... name="AppletClassName">
    </applet>
    <SCRIPT>
    function init ()
    myapplet= document.AppletClassName;
    </SCRIPT>
    Secondly, in the browserwindow that was popuped up by the first window:
    <BODY ... onUnload="parent.setFocus ();" ...>
    There are 2 things you may need to experiment with a little:
    1. document.AppletClassName may have to be this.document.A ...
    2. parent.setFocus (): I'm not sure about the parent bit but I think it's correct
    greetings,

  • Someone please help! My macbook is not starting up.  Any suggestions?!?!

    I have had my macbook for approx. 1 1/2 yrs. I am a new apple user, and I do not know what the problem can be. (I apologize for my vocabulary..I am not too Apple literate)
    My computer froze up 2 days ago and I had to do a force shut down. After that I tried turning it on but it only show the greyish screen. I would again restart it/force a shut down. And at times a file folder with a question mark on it appears. Sometimes it beeps at me...its 1 beep and then a pause. (I believe I read that it does not recognize the RAM/memory?) I then figured I would try reinstalling the 2 disks that it came with. I install Disc 1, and I go through about 2 steps and once it gets to 'Select a Destination' there is no destination to select. I have tried going to Disk Utility and when I click on "Verify Disk Permissions" it comes up "Error: No valid Packages". I do see "erase and restore" options but I do not want to screw it up more than it already is.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    It's definitely your drive. If you are comfortable doing a simple repair on your computer then you shouldn't have to go to the apple store. All you need to do is purchase a drive from a online seller. I recommend OWC. They have great prices. I just bought a 320 gb drive from them for $85. 120 GB would probably be about $20 cheaper. You can find them at http://www.macsales.com
    As for installing the drive thats pretty easy. Remove the battery using a coin to turn the slot on the bottom. Then remove the three philips screws on the metal bracket and remove the bracket. (you will need a phillips size 1 screwdriver). Once you to that, use the screwdriver to flip up a white tab you will see on the left side of the battery bay. Pull that (you may need to use a little force) and you will see a hard drive pop out. Next, remove the 4 black Torx screws (for this you will need a Torx T8 screwdriver). Remove the metal drive holder off the actual drive. Take note of the direction the drive is facing. Align the new drive the same way on the holder and screw the Torx screws back in. Next slip the drive and the holder back into the slot (with the white tab tucked underneath the drive). Screw the L shaped metal bracket back on, put your battery in and the upgrade is finished.
    If you don't have a backup now is the time to install your OS. If you do have a backup you would now restore it to the new hard drive. Throw out the old drive. You won't be able to use it.
