MacBook - new battery or new notebook?

I have had my MacBook for about 4 years now. My battery dies within one hour now. Is it worth it to replace it with a new battery or should I consider purchasing a new notebook?

The model 6,1 Late 2009 and the model 7,1 Mid 2010 use an A1331 battery.

Here's installation instructions. You'll need a Tri Wing Y1 screwdriver in addition to the usual #00 Phillips screwdriver.

  • E-bay macbook white battery: when listed as "new" does that mean "new and "unopened"?

I'm buying on e-bay a "new" macbook white battery. How safe a bet? Especially not knowing if new also means unopened!

contact the seller on ebay directly and ask them.  No one here has anyway of knowing.

  • Need new notebook for video editing

I've been shopping for a new notebook for my friend. He will be editing 50 p loaded from his Panasonic HC - X920, using Premier Pro.
It must be a notebook, a desktop is not an option. I've narrowed it down to a particular Asus system here in Northern Thailand. Selection/variety is a bit of an issue here.
It will be used primarily for editing short clips ( 6 - 30 seconds ) used as stock footage. On occasion he does a 1 - 5 minute YouTube video.
I'm aware the following system only has a 5400 RPM drive and that is my main concern. Other than that, will the system have sufficient resources for most jobs (short clips)?
Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply Bill. It's what I was hoping for.
Without swapping out the 1 TB hard drive, would you say editing short clips is doable? Would there be noticable jitter when editing short clips or only when attempting to load and edit many clips at once?
Currently on the Dell with an i-5 processor, we're able to handle single clips in Premier Elements no problem. I'm assuming we could do the same with the new system which has considerably more ram and a better graphics card. But of course I don't want to commit my friend to buying a system which can't then handle 50 p clips.
Thanks in advance. I do appreciate the input.

  • HT4623 After i updated my iPhone i realized i do not have my camera anymore how to get it back? I also using a new notebook so I do not have a back up to transfer it from.  Please help

After i updated my iPhone i realized i do not have my camera anymore how to get it back? I also using a new notebook so I do not have a back up to transfer it from.  Please help

I'm assuming you mean you don't have your camera application (which is not saved on any backup anyway).
One way to find it is to get to your home screen, swipe the screen from right to left, and type "Camera" in the search field.  Camera is a core Apple app and cannot be deleted, so it must be there somewhere.
An alternate approach is to do Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout

  • Migrating sapgui look and feel settings of sapgui to new notebook.

    Hi,
We are migrating from XP to Vista and SAPGui 640 to 710. (new notebooks are assigned to the users)
I copied saplogon.ini to the new notebook to preserve the links to the servers.
Some users have customized the look and feel of their SAPGui.  How can I copy the settings of their SAPGui to the new notebook (like the visual design, color settings and font size that the user have set in their sapgui.)
    thanks,
    Roel

    Hello Roel,
The windows vista version itself gives a new dimension to the look and feel. So I guess nothing must have been editted on SAPGUI screen.
And more of SAP GUI 640 to 700 look and features are also different.
Kindly request you to check with the user who has changed and got the looks as you found on his screen.
If you are looking for the changed screen after SAP gui login, where the main screen appears.
Then I would suggest, you go through thsi link below -
    Change SAPGUI initial login screen
    http://www.sap-img.com/basis/changing-the-sapgui-logo-on-the-right-hand-side.htm
Do let me know if this resolved your issue.
    Thank you.

  • New notebook only has headphone out and mic in -- Will any Creative speakers work?

Hello all: My new notebook only has a headphone out and mic in, and no audio out as you see on desktop PCs. I prefer not to use my USBs as I have other devices using them. Are there any Creative speakers which can use the headphone output and convert it to line level? This is a frustrating problem...the product specs all assume that you have a line level output 1/8 stereo jack. I don't. How can I find out which Creative products (if any) will work? I have a very typical, Compaq V6000 notebook running XP. I'm looking to spend under $80 and would prefer a 2 speaker or 2 pc w/ subwoofer configuration. I prefer to know that I can connect my new speakers rather than order blindly. Thx yall.

You can perfectly connect your 2.0 or 2.1 speakers to the headphones out, because it's like it was a line out, with the only difference that you can modify the out volume. There's no problem at all.

  • Can't install iTunes on new notebook with windows 8.1

First, sorry for my bad english, i hope you can understand what i am trying to say.
I got a new notebook and wanted to install iTunes. First it worked but then i needed to do a system restore because of a virus.
So iTunes was no longer on my notebook and i tried to reinstall it, but it does not work. I always get "try to install new, ERROR 7 (Windows error 5).
I searched through many communities and tried things like activating the Microsoft Frame Network or manual deinstalltion, restarting the computer, ...
    Please help me

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Problems with old library on new notebook

i just got a new notebook and installed itunes and wanted to import my library that i copied to an external drive from my old notebook (the iTunes Music Library.xml and the iTunes Library iTunes Music Database File). there - same as on the new notebook, too - my whole itunes music libraray was one single music folder with several subfolders. the difference, which now causes major problems are the drive letters of the partition that folder was on on the old notebook and the one on the new one. formerly it was e:, now it's f:. therefore the entries in the library files refer to files which actually are on my notebook, but not on the e: partition anymore, but on the f: partition!
so i added the whole music folder to the library again, and i had my music back in itunes, BUT all the playlists are still empty. is there a way to "update" the library files with the new location of the music files? since i have pretty many playlists with a whole bunch of tracks (ipod classic 160gb with some 55% used) it would be a quite annoying and time consuming work to add all the tracks manually.. and also the automatically generated playlists like recently added and played and mostly played are very important to me - with the respective dates added and played and play counts etc.
so, is there any way to do that, or do i have to add all the tracks to the playlists manually?
    thanks

hey, just wanted to say that i finally managed to do everything as imagined at the beginning. i simply uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and deleted all the entries/files (local settings & app data in winxp) that dont get removed by just uninstalling itunes, then copied my old .xml and .itl files over the newly created default equivalents, then imported them, and all my playlists and files appeared correctly (no double playlists etc. as before), but just with the exclamation mark, since they're referring to the "old" partition. then just changing the itunes music folder from default to my notebook's partition and folder where all the files are stored fixed everything - since i didnt modify anything since making the backup from the old notebook, everything's 1:1 the same, even when i attached my ipod id didnt ask me anything like different library or so, it just tried to sync it, but since no change since last sync on old notebook, nothing to add/remove, so now i finally got to the same state as before with the old notebook.
    thanks for helping me!

  • I installed Photoshop Elemets 11 on my old pc, I do not have my serial number, how can I nstall it on my new notebook? I do not have the box or anything anymore. Can I deinstall and install new?

Photoshop Elements 11 is installed on my old pc and I like to deinstall and install on my new notebook.
I do not have the serial number anymore. Can I find the number somewhere on the installed programme?
    Thanks for help Sonja

You are allowed to have the software installed and activated on two machines, so you do not need to remove it from the old pc just to install it on the new machine.
If you look in your Adobe account online you might be able to find the serial number.
You can also try contact Adobe support thru chat to see if they can help with the serial number.  They might be able to if you can prove ownership of the software.

  • GPU Performance with Illustrator - New Notebook Specs

I'm looking at purchasing a new notebook for Illustrator use.  The system requirements for Illustrator list only certain models of NVIDIA video adapters.  The notebooks I'm looking at have the NVidia Optimus K1100M 2GB video adapter.  I would like confirmation that the Optimus series of adapters will not provide Windows GPU performance and that I should be looking at only the adapters listed within this link:

Thanks for writing. Please don't mind if I pick apart your statements.
"For an extra $200 the 5870 is a no brainer." I agree on a pure cost basis that it's not a hard decision. But I have a very quiet environment, and I understand this card can make a lot of noise. To pay money, end up with a louder machine, and on top of that realize no significant benefit would be a minor disaster.
So, the more interesting question is: has anyone actually used the 5870 and can compare it to previous cards? A 16-bit 60 megapixel image won't require even .5GB of VRAM if fully tiled into it, for example, so I have no ability, a priori, to prove to myself that it will matter. I guess I'm really hoping for real-world data. Perhaps you speak from this experience, Matthew? (I can't tell.)
Background work and exporting are helpful, but not as critical for my primary daily use. I know the CPU is also used for demosaicing or at least some subset of the render pipeline, because I have two computers that demonstrate vastly different render-from-raw response times with the same graphics card. Indeed, it is this lag that would be the most valuable of all for me to reduce. I want to be able to flip through a large shoot and see each image at 100% as instantaneously as possible. On my 2.8 i7 that process takes about 1 second on average (when Aperture doesn't get confused and mysteriously stop rendering 100% images).
