MacBook Noisier since I've changed the HDD

Hi,
I've just got the new MBP 13', and I decided to change the HDD. Since I've changed it, it occured to me that it's a little bit noisier than it used to be. It's not the hard drive, just the fan appears to be running faster.
If anyone experiences, or experienced the same problem.
Thanks

I can hear the fan, it's not the hard drive. I thought that maybe I touched something inside that made the fan run at a faster pace.
My new HDD is a Samsung M7E who is supposed to be quieter cooler than the original one.
Thanks anyway.

either something got damaged when you installed the hard drive or you need to perform a pram reset (other possibilites could have occured, these are the ones I think)

  • Problem with printing ever since I've changed the yellow cartridge ink

    Hello,
I have the new printer - HP Ink Advantage 3525 that was working great.
I got a message on my PC which says that I need to change the yellow cartridge one, so I did it very easily, but even since I get tons of problems with my printer.
The communication between the pc and the printer doesn't work all the time. So I reset all the properties and did it again from scratch and not it's ok.
The main problem is that no matter what I'm priniting, the color are really not accurate when all the picture is almost all yellow! I did all the clear options and it still does it.
    Any help please?

If Outlook has "stopped working" it may be due to the Outlook iTunes Sync Add-in that was installed when you installed iTunes 7.3.
If you disable that add-in, Outlook will stop crashing - however, you will not be able to sync your calendar and contacts. Apple has been made aware of this issue.

  • I've bought an used macbook pro and want to change the ownership!

Basically i've purchased on ebay a pre-owned macbook pro that hasn't come with the original OS discs and I don't know how to change the ownership!
I've only have the ebay articule of the auction that I won and my credit card resume where I paid for the item that proofs my ownership on the macbook but nothing else!!
I just want to state somehow legally that this macbook is now mine in case i need apple care assistance or anything else (legal matters).
thanks on advance to the whole community!

pre-owned macbook pro that hasn't come with the original OS discs
Which OS was originally pre-installed?  You need this information, in order to receive the proper instructions on how to wipe it clean.
Macs that came with the OS'es 10.6.8 & earlier are not suppose to be sold w/o the DVDs that originally came w/them per Apple's license agreement.  If this is the case w/you, then you purchased a glorified door stop.  The system DVDs have troubleshooting tools on them and they are machine specific.
You can get replacement System Install & Restore CD/DVDs from Apple's Customer Support - in the US, (800) 767-2775 - for a nominal S&H fee. You'll need to have the model and/or serial number of your Mac available.
If you're not in the US, you may need to go through the regional Apple Store that serves your location to find the contact number. Here's a list of links to all of those - http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/intlstoreroutingpage.html  Another resource:  International Support Phone #s.

  • IdeaPad Z510, changing the HDD, warranty and Windows 10

Hello, I own a Z510 and I'd like to replace the HDD with an hybrid HDD/SSD or a pure SSD, because its 1TB disk is a real bottleneck. But what happens to the OS? How can I reinstall it, if it's stored in a separate partition of the HDD? And what about WIndows 10? Will I be able to install it? And maybe reinstall it if I have to restore the system?

    Hi Max,
There's a couple of ways to reinstall 8.1.
One way is to use cloning software although cloning from a platter drive to an SSD sometimes doesn't work too well, so before you do it, I would make a recovery drive.
How to make a recovery drive  Make sure you copy the recovery partition onto this drive.
Make a full backup of your system before you do any of this onto an external hard drive from within Recovery.
You can also make a clean install of Windows using instructions here .  Make sure you download the EXACT version of Windows that you have installed on your machine or the imbedded key won't work.
Your license key is imbedded in the bios and and installing the correct version will automatically detect the key and activate it.
If I were you, I would install an SSD, the performance is much better than a hybrid drive and getting the cache to work right on the hybrid might be a little hard to do.
Do your research, there are a lot of threads on this forum that have to do with reinstalling an OS, some ways work better than others.
Last, I don't work for Lenovo, I'm a volunteer as well as all the other moderators.
    Regards,
    Dave

Mid-2010 15" MacBook Pros - the bad NVIDIA GPU
If you're having frequent kernel panics with your 15" mid-2010, or intermittent screen problems, the problem is, more than likely, the faulty NVIDIA GPU found in a number of those machines.
Here's just a sample of a kernel panic log that points to the faulty NVIDIA card:
Kernel Extensions in backtrace (with dependencies):

Here's the "official" Apple take on the issue - but the very real kernel panics need not be preceded by 'Intermittent black screen or loss of video'... in fact, you might not experience any video problems at all. Although video problems can certainly be a portent of things to come…
So what can you do? Print out a copy of your kernel panic and a copy of the Knowledge Base article and take them, along with your machine, to your local Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. The unfortunate thing is that many people have passed the “three years from date of purchase” now and Apple is not honoring the free logic board replacement for many users. Some dealers seem to be making some exceptions for those past the three year mark, but don’t count on it…

  • How to change the HDD on Satellite Pro 430CDT

Can anybody tell me where I could find simple instructions telling me how to dismantle my old 430CDT in order to fit a larger hard drive? I'm thinking of replacing the 1.25gb drive with a 4 or 6 gb hdd - assuming the drives I have can be persuaded to fit.
I'm guessing the hard drive is hidden somewhere beneath the keyboard, but can't work out how to remove +that+ without damaging it.
I have no real experience of this sort of thing - I've done nothing more complicated than fitting new RAM to a less-ancient A120, and changing hard drives around on a Satellite 320.
The archives don't help, unfortunately, although it's entertaining reading the old press releases and adverts and seeing what was considered high-performance just twelve or thirteen years ago - progress in computer design is pretty rapid, isn't it?. Makes one realise that within a couple of years from now anything with less than a terabyte HDD and quad-core processor will be as amusingly obsolete and limited as my old 430 seems now.
Absolutely no practical reason for this - purely out of curiosity, and just for the fun of it.
Any suggestions would be appreciated - thanks in anticipation!

Thanks for that suggestion - unfortunately, I still can't locate the hard drive.
With the computer upside-down, I can get at the memory (a rectangular plastic covered secured with two screws), the battery (which I've removed for now), and the lever which ejects the CD-ROM (or floppy drive).
Looking round the sides of the machine, I see PC card slots and various connectors/ports - most of which I don't recognise...
Your description would suit my other ancient machine, a Satellite 320, perfectly - and replacing the hard drive on that takes but a couple of minutes. The 430 seems more difficult, to say the least.
If you could suggest anywhere else for me to look, I'd be most grateful!

  • My Macbook (13" White) that I have had for three years recently had its screen die, and so I purchased a new macbook pro, since I cannot use the screen, how do I go about getting my information off of it such as my iTunes, iPhoto and other documents?

The screen would fade into these weird pastel stripes, and if I pinched the sides a bit it would return to normal, but a few weeks ago it stopped returning to normal. I would like to get my iTunes and iPhoto contents and my documents of various sorts off of it and onto my new macbook pro. A friend of mine removed the hard drive and got the information like it was an external hard drive. Can I do this? I don't know if I can use my migration assistant application because the screen of my macbook won't let me see anything to even log into my username on the computer... Help?

    Firewire disk mode.
    Plug in a foirewire cable, most likely need a 6pin (400) to 9 pin(800).
on the older machine, boot it up, and hold down the t key
HDD should show up on the new computer.
If you havent booted up the new machine, you could run migration assistant whith the above steps to pull the data off.

If you have admin privileges create a new User account so you start fresh or you can go to System Preferences > iCloud and sign out using his ID and sign in with your ID. I suggest moving to a new User.
    CREATE A NEW USER
Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Users & Groups. Give it Admin rights
Switch to the New User by logging out under the Apple in the Menu Bar.
Delete the previous account after you have moved your personal files over to the new User via the Shared folder.

Ok, so heres the deal: my PB's HDD is dead, so im going to replace it, i already know wich drive to put in the deal is how do i reach it. In my MacBook is pretty simple in my PB i have no idea, so can anyone give a detailed explanation to how to do it and i would appreciate a step by step thing with pics and everything.

Sorry, I saw PowerBook instead of PowerMac in your profile. Anyway, hope you found the correct installation guide from my link.
A word of caution though. PB G4s have never been straight forward when it comes to replacing the hard drive as it entails a major disassembly. If, after looking through the ifixit guide, you have any doubts about your capabilities then it is much wiser to get the job done professionally by an Apple Authorised Service Provider. I have seen reports of too many people who have done their own replacements only to find that they had damaged the logic board, which is much more expensive to replace than a hard drive, during the procedure.
