I was having the same problem using ADE 4.0.2 and Mac 10.10.1. I finally gave up and deleted ADE version 4 and reinstalled version 3.0.  Works fine, and I can check out ebooks for my Nook using ADE.

Does Macbook really needs adobe flash player download in order to watch video clips on the web?

    Hello Angel8C,
Your MacBook Air running Yosemite will need an updated version of the Flash Player plugin to play web content that is in the Flash format (not all video content is Flash; there is also HTML5 video, amongst others). If you are being prompted to update your Flash Player plugin, you may find the following article helpful:

My friend has exact same Mac and CC and he has the same problem. We both have up to date Yosemite and CC versions.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Could you please confirm the CC application you are using.
It would be great if you post a screenshot of the problem.

  • Way around adobe's money grabbing compatibility tactics??

Hi I went out and bought a copy of CS6 because I didn't want to have to endlessly for what is essentially the same product with an odd tweak here and there.
Most people I know use Ae for layer based comp jobs colour correct, tracking and masks. things that have barely changed since the dawn of CS, yet when it comes to saving basic back compatible files so those people who have shelled out hard earned money Adobe seem to be giving their consumers the two fingered salute. backward compatibility is not difficult.
is it possible to edit the xml files to strip out the adobe version stamp?  or a plug in that would convert AE CC to CS6
    thanks Ben

Why is it that you accuse us of such when we provide forward compatibility to a reasonable extent in After Effects?
What you describe as "money grabbing compatibility tactics" is actually not an easy task to do.

My opinion is that a lot has changed & will change in the future. Sorry you won't be along for the ride.

Did you read the blog post. Is that not sufficient? And I'm not familiar with a two fingered salute. If its what I think it is (UK slang we don't know in the US), I would strongly disagree with you. We care about our customers and try to do all we can for them.

To correct you, it's no easy task. The team works hard to provide this feature.

No need because you can move from After Effects CC (12) to After Effects CS6 natively. If you need to move back from an even newer version of After Effects back to CS6, you can reinstall any previous versions of After Effects to achieve that. So, yes, it's absolutely possible without using any other method.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 compatability with windows 8?

Hi, Can I install Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere elements 11 if I have windows 8? i.e. is Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 compatabile with windows 8?

PSE 11 and Windows 8 and/or Outlook 2013 have several reported bugs.  For example Outlook 2013 and PSE 11 are incompatible because all features (for example Photomail) do not work.  Adobe will not support Outlook for email.  The user community is unsure of whether it is an Outlook or Windows compatibility problem - but it something!

  • MacBook Pro and Adobe CS and CS2

Hello fellow Mac Lovers...I am in desperate need of your help!
I am a graphic designer and I am really wanting to switch over to a Mac. However, I can only afford a MacBook Pro right now plus I need the convenience. Now here is my dilemma: I was told by an Apple representative that the MacBook Pro cannot support Adobe products (which is what I use & would need primarily in my Mac) but I was told by a CompUSA representative that they can. So I'm confused.
Does anyone here have a MacBook Pro and use Adobe software such as Photoshop and Illustrator on it? If not, does anyone know if the MacBook Pro can support Adobe CS2 software?
This may seem like a dumb question but I really need your help, if I can't use Adobe CS or CS2 on my MacBook then I will not be able to buy it!
    Thank you!

I use both Photoshop and Illustrator, CS versions, on my MBP in my work, although I’m not a graphic designer. Compared to my Windows PC, I notice that it takes longer to start the program on the MBP by four seconds (I tested just for you), but on successive startups, the MBP beats the PC by that same four seconds, go figure.
Working with large files, I don’t actually perceive much difference, but to me Adobe software has never been “snappy.” I’m also not an expert with Photoshop and Illustrator, and don’t do anything really intensive (except for personal stuff)---but the files clients send are sometimes huge, and the MBP seems to handle it just fine. I suspect that for you it might seem slower, but that’s just a guess. When Adobe upgrades their software to universal binary in the next year, it should be quite fast.

  • Using a MacBook Pro and Adobe CS2 and Macromedia Studio

I was planning on buying a MacBook Pro. Right now my Dell desktop has a 2.4ghz Celeron and I really want to get my first Mac. I'm sick of Windows!! I was wondering how Studio and CS2 (especially Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Flash Pro) will run under Rosseta on the 1.83ghz compared to my Celeron? And how much RAM will I need?
      Windows XP   Slow Celeron

Cannot speak about CS2 for macs as I have only used it on Windows. When I bought my new mac I could only afford to buy one suite, so now I only use the Macromedia Studio package as this contains more of what I need. In particular it contains Fireworks (as a replacement for CS2) which is sufficient for the level of photo editing I need, plus I find it easier to create web graphics. Also I like the way it interacts with Dreamweaver and Flash sweetly. Maybe worth considering instead of CS2 if your budget is a little tight like mine was!
Now, Performance. The loading times are between 4 and 8 seconds, depending on the number of other processes I have running, which for Adobe products is fairly comparible to Windows I seem to remember. When loaded I bearly notice any lag times at all - occasionly when you try and do too many things too quickly you get the classic beachball for a few seconds, but as long as you are a little more calm when using them they are perfect - as good as on Windows I'd say.
Considering I have a 1.83 GHZ with only 1 GB RAM the performance left me very impressed. Can't wait for the Universal versions as they are going to be "screamers"!
PS - people have posted differences in performance when using Rosetta apps when using the same spec machines. So what someone may say using the same machine as you may not actually be what you experience...

  • Photoshop CS6 will not launch on MacBook Pro. Adobe icon appears then disappears.

On a macbook pro.photoshop will not open. i've tried everything all that happens is an adobe icon appears and then quickly disappears. i have photoshop cs6 suite for a little over a year now. no problems until today. please help - i have a project due tomorrow.

    Hello:
I am sorry but I am a Windows user and so I am not sure I can help you. I do not know if you have enough time before your project is due but if you do not get an answer here you may want to just call Adobe. They have techs that can walk you through everything. They can take over your computer and fix it for you. They have done this for me many times when I have had problems and I have always been helped.
I do not know if Mac is the same but have you tried going to your Program Files? Like... your C drive > whatever > whatever > program files? and then right + click to open it from there ...?? does Mac have something similar??
I totally wish that I could help you more than this!! Best of luck and I really do hope you can get your project done or an extension!!

  • Macbook Pro Retina - Adobe Blurred Text

Hi, I have purchased a Macbook Pro with retina display.  When I use Adobe Acrobat pro the text is blurred.  Does anyone know a solution to this problem?

I've been reading the reviews etc, and looked at the Adobe forums, but I've not found that much main info.
Basically from all the reviews I have read, everyone thinks it's an excellent machine, and the Retina is great. Adobe's UI in CS6 apparently looks a bit blurry, but hopefully Adobe will fix this, and it's perfectly usable anyway.
Check out the Verge's review: http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/13/3082649/macbook-pro-review-retina-display-15-i nch
I've decided just to go for it, and ordered a Macbook Pro Retina, 2.3ghz with the extra 16gb Ram. My usual setup at my studio at work (I'm a freelance Illustrator and animator) is hooking my current 2009 MBP to my 20" Cinema Display.
Since I walk to work the slimmer design will be great, and if Adobe's programs are a bit dodgy on the retina display, it won't matter too much when I'm using my Cinema Display. It might make my display look old, but I'll probably upgrade that and get a 27" display in the future.
The retina display will be a nice addition for surfing the web etc.
Now if only Apple would release a non glassy cinema display again... Apple? : )
I hope that helps from my point of view.

  • MacBook Pro and Adobe CS5 graphics card upgrade

I have a few questions that I can't seem to get answers to from Adobe. I have a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.5.8 with a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB DDR2 SDRam, and GeForce 8600M GT graphics card. I currently have Adobe CS3 on it, but would like to upgrade to CS5. I know that I'll need to upgrade to Snow Leopard, but I believe I'll need to upgrade my graphics card also. According to Adobe's site, the compatible cards listed are the Nvidia quadro fx ones. the one they suggest is for a macbook pro, however, and costs about $1500. I'm trying to find out if I can even upgrade the graphics card on my MacBook, and if so is there anything that costs about a tenth of that price. CS5 specs can be found here http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/mastercollection/systemreqs/
My MacBook also has the dual boot (windows and Mac). I have never booted in Windows and have a windows laptop, so I'm wondering if it would be better to get rid of that, so that CS5 would run better when installed. any ideas/suggestions?

"... I know that I'll need to upgrade to Snow Leopard, but I believe I'll need to upgrade my graphics card also."
Why do you have to upgrade to Snow Leopard?
The graphics card is not upgradeable.
I would query the forum for users of CS5 and Leopard with your hardware configuration and see if they have any problems.

  • Does my 2008 macbook pro need adobe flash player and why is it so slow?

I was at another question and they had recommended downloading EtreCheck to get their question.
I am trying to find out if I need Adobe flash player installed?
Also, my Macbook Pro works fine online for speed, but opening any applications (pages, numbers, iPhoto,) anything installed is painfully slow.
    It plays youtube just fine.

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can read it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press thereturn key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press returnthree times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

Adobe 5.0 compatibility with Windows 7

there's a chance you could use compatibility mode to install acrobat 5.
if that fails, your only option is to buy an old computer with an old os or buy or subscribe to a current acrobat, http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatstandard/buying-guide.html

  • Adobe Flash IDE: Migration/Compatibility issues between Adobe Flash Professional CS3 and CS5

    Hi,
Adobe Flash IDE: Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe Flash Professional CS5
I am facing some  migration/compatibility issues between Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe  Flash Professional CS5:
I am working on a project that has  been completely developed in CS3 earlier. When I am using CS5 (Flash Player 9 /  Flash Player 10) to compile the FLA files, it is creating some new issues like  some customized radio buttons are getting disappeared while viewing the SWF on a  web page etc.
So, I would like to  know:
    1) Is there any  migration/compatibility issue between Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe  Flash Professional CS5?
    2) If yes: Is there any patch  available from Adobe for it?
    3) If no: What could be the causes  and the best possible solutions for it?
Any help and support would be highly  appreciated. Many thanks in advance!
    Thanks & Regards
    Amit

Apparently some people have issues, but I don't think it is across the board.  Here's a link to another recent posting that may or may not prove helpful to you...

  • Adobe Flash Player not compatable with Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2

I installed Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 and I noticed Adobe
Flash Player 10 was not compatable with it, so I had to downgrade
back to Internet Explorer 7. Does anybody know if Adobe is
developing a flash player that is compatable with IE 8? I know IE 8
is still in beta, but when it gets released I want to be able to
download it and have Adobe Flash Player work in it.

I am on my home computer and version 10.2.159.1 is installed.   Interestingly, it appears that it is installed correctly.   I can view Youtube flash videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8tSMKGbnW0 and browse to the Adobe home page and view the flash.  However, if I go to certain websites
    http://www.abercrombie.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10901&store Id=10051&langId=-1&topCategoryId=12203&categoryId=12277&parentCategoryId=12277&utm_source= HomePage&utm_medium=WomenClassicLooks&utm_campaign=04212011domHomepage
It tell me to update my flash player.   It works fine in Firefox.
