Macbook (OSX 10.5.8) won't load facebook, youtube on any browser

As the title says, my macbook has stopped loading Facebook and Youtube on any browser (chrome, safari, firefox). It's been about 2 weeks and I've tried clearing cache and repairing the disk. All other websites work without a problem.
Any suggestions?

OK, For the cookies you need to go into the setting on your browser and make sure that cookies are allowed. You also may need to make sure that cookies are not being blocked for facebook. Should be in the same area, would probably be on a blacklist.
As far as the DNS settings go.
Go into your Network preferences
select the method that you are connecting with from the list on the left
click in the DNS Server field and enter 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 (those are public DNS servers from google)
Click apply
Try to go to www.facebook.com If it doesn't work, try restarting your browser.

Safari won't load Facebook

All of a sudden Safari won't load Facebook. All other pages load just fine, but not Facebook. Facebook loads fine on FireFox though.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Now delete the Safari cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that doesn't help, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

My ipad won't load Facebook.

I have tried soft reset, reboot, emptying the cache and history. I have done everything and it still won't load Facebook or Facebook apps. This started with the IOS 7.0.2 update.

Mine too! The same thing happens when I try to run fb from Safari.
I have to use my android phone to get to fb.

Does the ext directory have the php_oci8.dll? In the original steps the PHP dir is renamed. In the given php.in the extension_dir looks like it has been updated correctly. Since PHP distributes php_oci8.dll by default I reckon there would be a very good chance that the problem was somewhere else. Since this is an old thread I don't think we'll get much value from speculation.

Every time I watch a video on youtube (on any browser) my macbook pro starts freezing

Hello everyone,
Every time I watch a video on youtube (on any browser) my macbook pro starts freezing half a minute, works fine for 10 seconds, then freezes again... This started a couple days ago. The only solution is to restart and not watch video's... Anyone know how to solve this?
I have a pretty old macbook pro, from around 2006. I've never had this problem...

Tried to install OSX Mavericks now MBP won't load

Hi all
Last night I tried to install OSX Mavericks on my MBP mid-2010 running Mountain Lion. It downloaded fine and then seemed to install fine. When the message came up saying it was going to restart automatically the spinning wheel hanged, which was the first problem. I switched off the MBP and turned it on again. It now refuses to boot up and stays on the Apple bootup screen with the spinning wheel.
I've tried to restart in recovery mode but this doesn't seem to work. It just goes back to the spinning wheel and there is no progress bar that pops up to indicate the recovery data is being downloaded from the net (I don't have a recovery partition).
I have a backup external hard drive that I can use to restore my MBP and then try upgrading again, but I can't use that until I get into recovery mode.
Is anyone able to help?

Ok so I worked out how to get into recovery mode. Turns out I was doing it wrong! I used an external USB drive to access recovery mode.
I ran disk utility which identified and fixed some errors on the HD. I thought this might solve the problem but when I restarted the same problem occurred. I then restored my time machine backup which thankfully worked.
I tried installing mavericks again! Upon restarting and completing the install, I got the message 'OSX has been installed. Your computer will now restart'. After the countdown had finished I got the beach ball which span eternally again, just like last time. After about 10 mins I did a hard reset and again OSX won't load.
Lame...

MacBook Pro won't load any google pages or Yahoo. This happened after I backed Up Everything on an external hard drive.
I tried resetting Safari, emptying the cache, deleting any cookies related to google, and as booting up with my Mac cd and running utility.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Are there any parental controls?
Check the DNS settings
System Preferences > Network > Advanced > DNS.
Select the numbers that are already in there and click the minus button to remove them.
Click the plus and type in 8.8.8.8
Click the plus againg and type 8.8.4.4

Updated osx and now mail won't load

Hi all,
I've updated my operating system so that I could go on to upgrade to Lion, but in the interim my mail won't load - its telling me "an error occured while importing. Make sure you have available space in your home folder and try again"...I can't even locate my "home" folder on my system...
Any ideas how I can fix this? And will upgrading to Lion without the mail box being fixed perhaps fix it?

Sounds like something went pear-shaped somewhere along the line. I suggest reinstalling like this:
* Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/?ref=logo Download Firefox 4.0] and download a fresh installation file to the desktop.
* Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to Mozilla Firefox and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box).
* Then reboot and delete the folder called Mozilla Firefox at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
* Finally run the installation file you downloaded.
After you complete the installation, go to the [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ Plugins Check] page and update those if necessary.

Safari won't load Facebook on my new Macbook Air.

I have just bought a new macbook air. (2011 release)
I have not been able to load facebook since i started using it. Every other website works fine. And I have tested FB on other PC's and my phone to make sure that it isnt just the site.
The page begins to load but stops about 1/4 of the way across the address box and then displays the error msg
Safari cant open the page because the server where the page is found is not responding.
I have tried turning my firewall on and off and deleting the history/cache/cookies
Does anyone have any other ideas on what might be causeing this and how I can fix it

1. Enable Plug-ins
    Safari > Preferences > Security
    Internet Plug-ins > "Allow all other plug-ins
2. Reset Safari.
    Click Safari in the menu bar.
    From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
    Uncheck the boxes next to all items.
    Check the box next to "Remove all website data".
    Click "Reset".
3. Turn off Extensions, if any that may interfere with Flash working properly.
    Safari > Preferences > Extensions
     Now try YouTube.

Pictures won't load in Safari, or any other browser

I have an intermittent problem where internet pictures won't load. This seems to happen mostly on social networking or picture intensive sites. I've particularly had trouble with myspace, livejournal, facebook, flickr, okcupid, etc., but it is not limited to those sites. Sometimes pics won't load in Safari but will load in firefox. Sometimes the other way around. Sometimes neither of those browsers will work, and neither will opera, explorer, etc. It doesn't seem to matter whether I'm connected by airport or ethernet. I Know it is not my internet connection because I have a PC on the same network that never has this problem. When I travel with my macbook, the problem comes with me.
I am currently running 10.5.2 on a 2 GHZ macbook. Previously, I had this exact same problem on a 550 MHZ Titanium Powerbook G4 running 10.4. I used to think it was just my old slow computer, but when I upgraded computers I transferred all my files and settings with the migration assistant, and the problem seems to have followed.
Things I have tried:
1. Making a new user account. I added a new account but did not delete my old one or do a clean install. This did not work.
2. Using a new DNS server. No dice.
Any suggestions?

Is the iPhone using your Mac to connect?
See if the Mac has any Proxies set...
10.5/10.6 instructions, System Preferences>choose interface>Advanced>Proxies Tab, make sure none are set, like for HTTPS.

Won't load Facebook...

When I try to access facebook, instead of loading the page, a download begins (home.php) and no page loads. It will either remain a blank page, or the last page I was on. I have tried, clearing caches, cookies, disk permissions, and a virus scan but nothing seems to work. The problem just started yesterday.
It is not a Safari only issue, it happens with firefox as well as opera, although opera does let the page load, but will not let me type in any login info.
Anyone else having this issue or any thoughts on how to fix it?

Same problem here, started three days ago suddenly. I can't tell you what's wrong, but I can tell you that if you use: http://www.facebook.com/home.php you can at least load facebook. It's not really fixing it, its more of a workaround, but at least it allows you to visit facebook.
I have encountered a similar problem on other websites (accuweather) where it asks for you to select your carrier, and gives a list of mobile carriers. I have no idea how to fix that...

Cant open youtube in any browser in macbook pro

Hi. I have a macbook pro from 2010, I am still using snow leopard (10.6.8).
It was always hard to play youtube videos on Safari but I was able to get it work smoothly on Chrome. Then starting 2-3 weeks ago I cant open youtube site in any browser at all (safari, chrome, firefox..).
When i typed the site address and enter, all the browsers start like they might open the homepage, the loading bar in the address part starts a little but it waits and waits and never load more than that. Sometimes I get the "failed to open page" message at last (mostly on Safari). So I cant seem to make youtube work on my Mac. And adobe flash seems up to date so it shouldnt be a problem.
I encountered a discussion like this and it was advising to go 'hosts' file and delete the 'youtube.com' lines, I tried it but even i gave all the permissions -it wasnt permitted to make changes- to hosts file, it never saves any changes (it has another problem on that file to make changes i think). So i couldnt get it done that also. Does anyone have any idea about this? Thanks.

You have some sort of other problem and the /etc/hosts file shouldn't be messed with.
This is what it should look like and that's it. Anything esle is likely the result of malware or tinkering.
