Macbook Printer Drivers

When I installed Leopard, I chose not to install printer drivers... but now I realize how handy they really are, to be able to plug into any printer anywhere and have it recognize it.
My question is, now that I chose not to install them, where can I get them from?

Insert the OS X Installer Disc One into the optical drive. Open the Optional Installs folder. The installer is inside.

  • MacBook Pro won't recognize Canon MP800, even after reloading print drivers

Time Warner Cable updated servers. We had to update the DNS address for the MacBook Pro to maintain internet access. After doing this MacBook Pro doesn't recognize the Canon MP800 printer - shows no print drivers for Canon IJ Network , even after reinstalling printer software and downloading print drivers from Canon website - MPNavigator 2.0 keeps saying print driver has not installed. The MacBook is wirelessly networked with the printer and an EMac. We haven't updated the DNS address for the EMac because it still recognizes the printer and prints; however, we now don't have internet access with EMac as a result.

If printing wirelessly check your printer sharing settings - System Preferences/Sharing
If printer is connected directly to your computer, check your printer connections, read the troubleshooting section in your printer manual and check the printer manufacturer website for drivers you may need to update.

  • New Macbook Air Trouble Getting Printer Drivers.

Long time Mac user and moving to a new Macbook Air from a Macbook Pro.  Cannot get the printer drivers downloaded from the App Store and keep getting the following message:
"Can't download the software for the EPSON WorkForce 840 because of a network problem."
My assumption was our local area network has a problem and did the full monte re: Airport Utility, signal strength, etc. to no avail.
Older MacBook Pro is printing fine to the printer.  Any ideas for what I may be overlooking?  I then downloaded the Epson software from the Epson site. Changed my security preferences so as to be able to install it, did the "installation" via the installer and cannot find it on the computer.  Can find the original download, but cannot find the installed file anywhere on the Macbook Air.  Strange.
    Suggestions?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output andWi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

how do I install dell v305 print drivers on my new macbook pro?

Dell's drivers are only for Windows. If you can find out who makes the printer and what model it is, then you may be able to find OS X drivers for it. Or you can see how well it works using the Generic driver.

  • How to uninstall print drivers Canon MF4150 issues

Hello all, I am having a nightmare of a time getting my Canon MF4150 to print. It looks from all of the threads on here it was a less than ideal choice for a Mac owner.
When I first bought the unit I managed to get it to print, everything seemed peachy.
Problems arose when I wanted to use the unit to scan. I downloaded a variety of third party software and drivers in an attempt to get the scan function working. I had mixed results, and this process seemed to upset the printing side of things. Once I scanned a document, the printer would then not work.
I abandoned the idea of scanning through the MF4150 and have gone back to dedicated Epson scanner.
Since then I have not had any luck getting the printer to print again.
I have gone through all the MF4150 related threads on these boards I can find, and followed the process to installed outlined here - https://discussions.apple.com/message/7657893#7657893 but to no avail.
I really just want this thing to print and it's driving me nuts.
I have the printer attached directly to my MacBook Pro running 10.5.2. I'm not trying to print through the Airport.
I would like to know how to completely uninstall any UFR II drivers and related software / information and start this process from the beginning again.
So far, using the answer provided by PAHU here https://discussions.apple.com/message/7657893#7657893
    I have -
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
    > DONE
    2. Select the MF4150 printer and press the minus " - " button to remove the printer. Do the same to any other printers that are in the printer list.
    > DONE
    3. Hold down the Control key and click in the empty printer list. A window showing 'Reset printing system' will display. Click this.
    > DONE
    4. Close the Print & Fax utility.
    > DONE
    5. Run the Canon UFR2 v1.70 installer and select Uninstall when the Easy Install menu appears
    > This is where I get snagged. I'm not offered a Uninstall option. I have attached a screen grab of the window I am presented with. I am currently trying the "o1141enx_m_ufr224" version of the UFR driver. I have continued to complete the points below regardless of the fact i cannot uninstall.
    6. Restart the Mac and run the v1.70 installer again to add the UFR2 files back onto your Mac
    7. Go to Applications > Utilities and open Disk Utility. Select the Mac OS X partition in the left pane and select 'Repair Disk Permissions'. When this has completed, quit Disk Utility
    8. Open Print & Fax and add the MF4270 again
    9. Open TextEdit, type some simple text and select to print.
    10. Report back if the above doesn't get you printing.
I have also attach a screen grab of the process I go through when adding the printer.
Any help with this would be amazing. I've tried everything I can think of.
My latest idea is to try and remove any trace of previous printer drivers and go from there. You can see in my list of available drivers in the file attached I now have all sorts of UFR drivers in the list.
Again, if anyone can throw me a line on this that would be great.
    Thanks & Regards
    Coz

    Hello Coz,
It's been a while since you've posted, I hope you have not given up.  I was having grief with my MF4150 as well, but got it working.  There is a more current driver - search for Mac_UFRII_V230_uk_EN and install it.
Then, when you go to add your printer through System Preferences > Print & Fax, make sure you click the "default" icon in the top of the dialog.  It should show your Canon MF 4100 series , then use the bottom drop down menu to choose your driver and select Canno MF410 Series UFRII LT (UK) from the list.

  • How to uninstall printer drivers

I have a 64Gb MacBook Air and installed the printer drivers for an HP printer.  Within a few hours of using the printer, three major faults occurred, so I returned the printer and got my money back.  I'm going to buy a Canon printer now but first I want to remove the HP printer drivers and all references to it.
    I'm using OS 10.7.5.
None of the information I've picked up through the communities works for me becasue they refer to menu options that don't exist on this machine.
    Any help gratefully received.
    Thanks.
    G.

Thanks very much mende1.  I followed your very clear instructions and it worked - all the HP references are now consigned to the dustbin.  Just a shame HP don't consign their model HP2050 to the dustbin!

  • Printer drivers...software downloaded, now how do i activate it?

had to have os reinstalled; backed up with time machine; printer still shows up, but error message tells me to install software.  cannot use cd (apparently) so downloaded all canon drivers from apple.
    now what???
(coming from windows, i find macbook is not very good at walking us amateurs through the necessary steps.)

Did you install the Canon drivers from Apple - Apple Canon Printer Drivers 2.11? After downloading you need to install the package by double-clicking on the package icon.
Then open the Print & Scan preferences. Select the displayed printer and click on the Delete [-] button to remove it. Now click on the Add [-] button. A window will appear like this:
Select your printer from the list. If a driver appears in the Use: dropdown menu then just click the Add button.

  • HP Photosmart 7960 Not Shown in Print Drivers

I finally pulled the trigger and bought a MacBook Pro last Monday. I have a lot to learn having come from a PC background. I have an HP Photosmart 7960 printer hard-wired to a desktop PC running Windows XP. I use a wireless network with a Linksys router for a laptop PC also running Windows XP that shares that printer. I am trying to get my new Mac to share that printer wirelessly as well. It can find the printer on my network and then asks me to choose a printer driver from the drop-down list. The HP Photosmart 7900 series is not in the drop-down list even thought that driver is supposed to be part of the Leopard 10.5.8 OS without downloading from HP. As a matter of fact HP doesn't even offer that driver up to download because it already comes on the operating system. I picked one at random (HP Photosmart 7550 Gutenprint 5.1.3) and it will print, but that can't be the right way to go in the long run. I've been back to the Apple Store where I bought the laptop and they don't know what to tell me to do. I'm hoping someone has solved this issue so I can enjoy my new Mac.

Hi! There are 4 7900 series drivers included in Leopard however at installation not all of them may have been chosen. I think you will have to use the install disc to install the additional drivers if they weren't installed originally.
    List of drivers HERE. Tom
    From Apple:
    Installing printer drivers
All included printer drivers are installed by default with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. If you custom install, you can select which printer driver packages you would like installed. The Apple LaserWriter PPDs and sample drivers included with CUPS are installed as part of the Essential System Software package and cannot be customized or installed separately from Mac OS X.
If you would like to install any of the optional printer drivers after installing Mac OS X, insert the Install disc into your computer and use Optional Installs.

  • Missing printer drivers - can't add new drivers

I printed without any problems yesterday. Last night, I applied the latest drivers via Software Update (a lengthy list that just came out within the last week, including 10.4.8) and now all my printer drivers are gone. I have 2 printers connected directly to the mac via USB, and one printer connected through the network. I have attempted to add the printers again, using newly download printer drivers from both Epson (for my R300) and from Primera (for my disc_publisher). When I attempt to add a printer, this error comes up: "An error occurred while trying to add the selected printer. server-error-service-unavailable"
I have a G5 dual 2 GHz. I have attempted all the normal troubleshooting techniques (permissions, unplug power and usb, deleting drivers and re-installing, restarting mac, etc), but am now at a loss.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Scott

Have you tried resetting the print system? Open up Utilities->Printer Setup Utility and under the Printer Setup Utility menu, select Reset Printing System. You'll have to add all your printers again, but that should clear up most problems. Give it a whirl and post back.

  • Missing Printer Drivers

I'm trying to add a HP printer under Bonjour via Printer Setup Utility. I can do that with my new MacBook and have plenty of choices of printer drivers. With an older PowerBook, I only get a few driver choices (HP not included).
I've tried downloading drivers from the HP website and Printer Setup Utility doesn't recognize them. Can I simply copy the drivers over from my MacBook? Where are they stored?

Can you give us a little more detail - where is the printer connected? What model printer?

  • How do you reinstall just print drivers in Leopard?

I just began using my MacBook Pro running Leopard with an Epson Sylus Photo 2200. I am having trouble printing with it. I made the mistake of using the disc that came with the printer to install print drivers to my Mac. I am unable to print most of the time from most applications. Epson's web support says Leopard has the drivers already built in. Did I over write the drivers when I installed the old ones from the disc? And if so can I reinstall Leopard's Epson drivers without having to reinstall Leopard completely? Thanks in advance for you help.
    Steve

you are right, I forgot about that. this is definitely easier. to elaborate on john's post. insert the leopard install DVD open it in finder and double-click on optional installs->optional installs.mpkg. follow the instructions. on the screen with the choice of software to install choose printer drivers.

  • Location to download and install lots of printer drivers?

We want to allow teachers at a college to checkout Macbook Pros that might be used anywhere on campus with any number of different printers. Is there a way to download a large number of the most commonly used printer drivers so they are already installed and ready to be used? The Macs will be locked down after being distributed, so only someone with an Admin account will be able to install drivers.
    Thanks!

Probably not, since I don't know of anything else that might use drivers. However, trying to lock down the MBPs so they can't install stuff is a IMO a loosing battle and will just cause immense issues. Give them admin rights and just wipe the machines and restore your baseline installation when they turn them back in. How are you going to handle e-mail accounts and normal software updates? How are you going to handle backups? Have them bring the machines into IT to update them or run their backup programs, most of which require admin authorization? That's unnecessary overhead. They are college-level teachers and not irresponsible students. Treat them as such.
