MacBook printer problem

Good day. I am having a problem with my new MacBook and hope you can help.
I have it connected to an HP 5550 deskjet printer via USB cable. I can print things off my desktop but when I try to print from an application (Photoshop, Illustrator) it unexpectedly quits. Anyone have any ideas of what I can do to fix
this? I don't know if it's a printer driver problem or what. Thank you in advance.

Im not sure about this one. I checked the HP website and it states that the most current driver is included in the OS X drivers on intel Macs. Possibly could be an issue with the Adobe programs as they are not universal binary yet and run in emulation mode under Rosetta in OS X to function. Has to be some sort of softwar conflict. In either Rosetta or Adobe...

Printing problem using HP Laser 3015 with OS 10.4.11 on MacBook

Pauses when printing a set of PDF files on my HP Laser 3015. It takes forever to print a set of documents. This is not working for my business where sometimes I have anywhere from 60 to over 100 pages to print out 2 sets! Last week I printed out the first set that took a long time and copied the second set. Printer worked fine with the old reader. I would like to have that back!! But can't find it in my application folder. Can someone tell me how to get an old reader if there is not a solution to this printing problem.
I reviewed all the settings on the print box and can't find the problem. I've read what to do in Adobe's help but it didn't tell me anything I already was doing. Does anyone have a solution to my problem? I sure would appreciate it.

I have had printing problem too many days ago.
As far as I am concerned you may try the following: -
- Verify your acrobat reader is up to date.
- Verify your printer drivers if missing any.
- Verify there shouldnt be any paper jam in the printer.
- Verify your printer is connected properly.
Verify that you have ink colors
- In the printer.

If these didnt help than it may be your printer problem, you may fix it show it to any hardware shop.

Canon 860 Series (Pixma) Printer Problems with OSX 10.8 (Mountain Lion) – links to Canon Support Site with Drivers and Software with install tips

After spending several hours sorting out Canon Pixma OSX problems here are my thoughts:

Problem:
- New imac and MacBook Pro 2012 (OSX 10.8.2) had a problem using Canon Pixma 868 printer on network and would not scan or print using Canon Pixma software (Pixma MP Navigator 2.1 & Photo Print), which has advanced scanning and photo printing functions.
- When I connected the canon printer to my imac, OSX 10.8.2 automatically downloaded and installed drivers for Canon 860 series printer. I could then add the new printer (select ‘apple menu’ / ‘system preferences’ / ‘print and scan’ / “+”) and printer would work while connected via USB but could not get to print or scan over network wifi.
- The original Canon 860 Series CD does not work with 10.8 and the manual / online instructions did not make sense (as based on CD install).
Solution:
1) Install Canon Printer Drivers and Software (from official Canon site)
Go to canon support site, review FAQ, then download and install following Pixma 860 Series software & drivers for OSX 10.8 (links see below). The version I downloaded is in brackets but check for updated version. Full instructions are below.

If you have problems installing the software under 10.8, see the FAQ on Canon site. You will need to allow software installs from “unidentified developers by using “Control” Key or by changing your system preferences)
2) Check Canon Printer and Software Working while connected via USB
Once you have downloaded and installed drivers and software and restarted computer, check that the printer and Canon Pixma software (Pixma MP Navigator 2.1 & Photo Print) are working via USB. Open the Canon IJ Network Tool App (Applications / Canon Utilities /IJ Network Tool / Canon IJ Network Tool App) and make sure you can see the Canon MX 860 series (xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx) and that it shows the correct SSID Wifi settings (under the Canon IJ Network Tool App ‘Setup menu’). This is normally done as part of the automatic install but worth double checking
3) Add new network printer using ‘apple menu’ / ‘system preferences’ / ‘print and scan’ / “+”).
After you have checked USB printing turn off printer, unplug the USB cable and shutdown the Canon IJ Network Tool App.
Then turn the printer back on and wait 30s. Then add a new printer using ‘apple menu’ / ‘system preferences’ / ‘print and scan’ / “+”). Once you select “+” (add new printer), wait 10-30s for the Wifi Networked Canon MX 860 Series printer to appear in the new window eg Canon MX 860 series (xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx) (Kind: “Canon IJ Network”)
DO NOT ADD THE MX 860 SERIES BONJOUR SCANNER (the Bonjour Scanner is the built-in software, is not needed and often appears first on the add printer list). The Canon scanner can be accessed used through the MP Nav EX Ver. 2.1.3 software (which has much better functions)
You will now have two Printer Canon MX860 (USB) and Canon MX860 (Wifi / Network). Set the Canon MX860 (Wifi / Network) as default and test print and scan
If the Wifi Networked Canon MX 860 Series printer does not appear, check the printer and make sure that the printer can see the wifi network. On the printer select Menu / Settings / Device Settings / Lan Settings / WLAN Setting List. It should say WLAN Active, identify the SSID and have an IP address
If the printer can not see the Wifi Network, plug the USB cable back in, then open the Canon IJ Network Tool App (Applications / Canon Utilities /IJ Network Tool / Canon IJ Network Tool App). Make sure you can see the Canon MX 860 series (xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx) and that it has your SSID settings (under setup), if it has this info, restart the computer and the printer and try again

Printing problem in cs5 and imac 27

I have been running my Epson Stylus Pro 4800 on a macbook pro and cs3, for a couple of years with no problems whatsoever. I have now upgraded to a new iMac 27"and have had nothing but problems with the 4800. I have made my own profils and used Epson paper profiles but the prints are not as colourful as they used and totally wrong as well. I am also getting totally oversized prints compared to what image seize in ps is set to be.....for example, I have been doing a 10x21 test picture on Premium Lustre paper (photoshop is managing the colours through CS5, but it is printing the image at least 1,5 the size that it should be. All my settings are correct, dpi is 300, I'm printing at 1440dpi resolution on the correct profiles for the paper. I am at a loss to understand why this is happening. Is anyone able to assist me?
I can do the printing in preview and that is looking quite ok. But trough photoshop it is bad colors and wrong size on the print.

I saw you're having a printing problem with CS5 while using an Epson printer. I'm having a problem too. Read my situation and see if you think it's similiar to yours. I posted this about an hour ago but have not heard from anyone yet.
I'm having problems getting good prints when using Photoshop CS5 with my Epson Photo R2880 printer, problems I never had with CS4. Here's the situation:
If I take a PSD file and print it using CS4, everything works out perfectly. But if I take that same PSD file and print it out using CS5, the print is now offset top to bottom, as well as left to right, along with a 1/8" black strip being printed down the right edge of the paper. As far as I can tell, everything is set the same.
I've compared all the print information found in the Print dialog summary box between CS4 and CS5 and everything appears to be the same. I've verified that I'm using the latest print driver with my printer, and I am. It's 8.27. I've verified that I've checked off the box to center the print to the paper, each time I've made a print. And in trying to figure out what's going on, I've discovered that this problem occurs with any paper size when using CS5, but not with CS4.
I'm stumped and frustrated and without any more ideas as to what I should do next, except to always print my projects using CS4. If anyone has an idea for me, please let me know!
I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions for you. The colors I'm getting in my prints from CS5 seem to be alright, but not the positioning on paper. It keeps offsetting and running a black stripe down one side. Fortunately I have CS4 on my computer that I can use to print from, but it shouldn't be this way.

Lightroom 5.44 printing problem

I am using Lightroom 5.44 on two computers: (1) MacTower with OS X 10.7.5 and a (2) MacBook with OS X 10.7.5. I also use Adobe CS6. (Neither can upgraded to the latest version of Mac OS X). I am printing to an Epson R1800 on a wifi network. After upgrading to Lightroom 5.44 I was able to print two glossy 13x19 images on the Epson R1800 by subsequent efforts to print all hang up at the preparing image for printing stage. I reinstalled Lightroom 5.44 and the printing problem repsisted. I reinstalled the Epson R1800 printer software/drivers and the proble persists. I am able to print other images from Photoshop CS6 on the MacTower and from Lightroom 5.44 on the MacBook. Thus the problem appears to be in LIghtroom 5.44 on the MacTower and is not resolve by reinstalling Lightroom.
I note that the Apple Console log has multiple meesages and reports in reponse to the print job, including the following:
5/1/14 1:56:35.291 PM Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5: Could not find image named 'LayoutDirection1.png'.
Is this an Adobe Photshop LIghtroom 5 problem or a Mac OS 10.7.5 problem or both? How should I proceed?

I have an SSD drive that has my OS and applications. I looked in the Macintosh SSD/Users/[my username]/Library/Preferences/ directory and I do not have a com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist file.
My old Macintosh HD drive has been renamed "Macintosh HD Archive" and I now use it for file archiving. it has a Marcintosh HD Archive/Users/[my user name]/Library/Preferences/ directory which contains the preference files for my older versions of Lightroom (Lightroom, Lightroom2, and Lightroom3).
After I installed the SSD drive and used it as my startup disk I have used Lightroom 4 and Lightroom 5.
Lightroom4 and LIghtroom5 have been installed on the SSD drive. I deleted Lightroom 4 after I installed Lightroom 5.
There is no com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist list file on my Macintosh SSD drive or on my MacIntosh HD Archive drive.
Perhaps the printing problem is due to a failure to create these files with the installation of Lightroom 5.44 on the SSD drive.
I do not recgnize the name "LayoutDirection1.png" as significant any of my images, but its occurence in the console log in association with Lightroom5 at the times print attempt failed suggested that the hangup was due to a missing file.

Ios8 printing problems

ios8 printing problems.Since the new update ios8 my printing over WIFI to an Epson printer from an ipad4 the pictures are printed truncated.the lower left part of the pix is missing and the upper right is white. I know it is not the printer's fault because the same picture printed from a MacBook Pro comes out OK.Anybody else experiencing these problems after updating to ios8?

SInce ios8 installation, my iPads and iPhone cannot print on my HP8600.
THere is a serious printer communication flaw in ios8 that needs a prompt remedy.

Printer problem with Airport Utility and Epson CX5500

Hi,
I recently bought an iMac '24 2.66 Computer and was able to set up my internet through an airport. When it came to hooking up a wireless Epson CX5500 printer, the airport recognized it, but when it came to print in the printing queue it simply wont print. I was able to find a very helpful post that would possibly be my next step in fixing it (probably just a program error or hook up)

The problem that i have is the step by step process of altering this or finding it. As i made the name of the shared printer EPSONStylusCX5500 but could not acess the printer name one to change it. The url link still shows the 20%. If someone could please take the time to explain on how to do it, then maybe just maybe, i would be able to print wirelessly. Any other ideas or even cheap printers that would work without a problem as i would simply go out and buy one instead. Thanks.

Mbp printing problems

Hello. Recently, I've experienced printing problems with any and all apps. When I go to print, I get the dreaded spinning wheel of death. I'd like to reset my printing system with and thru the system launcher and terminal app. Therefore, I need the command line to enter. Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Might anyone know how I can reset? If so, I need the command line. Please help.

Printing problems -- PDFs

Just lately I have come across a perplexing problem printing PDF documents.
I get an error stating that because I want to duplex print the paper size I've selected is not supported. I have not selected an odd size of paper--just a regular US letter size.
I've changed the setting an tried printing one page and then the document prints from the rear tray of my Cannon printer (something that I didn't indicate either). The output is only about 1/10 of the entire page that I wanted printed -- in other words only a fraction of the page and is centered in the upper middle of the page.
I've contacted the Cannon service techs and they cannot figure out the problem. They instructed me to download the latest printer driver but that didn't help. I even downloaded the latest Adobe Reader with the same frustrating result.
But, the craziest things about this printing problem is that I can go to a different computer in my household -- one that has an older OS and an older Adobe Reader and I can duplex print without any problems.
The laptop I'm using is a MacBook with version 10.7.5. I've tried both Reader 9 and Reader XI.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly apprciated. Thanks!!

I found the answer by myself!
When I opened a PDF document in "Preview" instead of using Adobe Reader, I was able to print without any problem.
Apparently there is something in the Adobe print function that is not working correctly. Hopefully it can be fixed sometime; otherwise, I'll just use "Preview" exclusively.

MacBook Printing Has died

I have a sudden printing problem. When I print from my MacBook I get a message in the status field of the printer queue -" Error: /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Contents/MacOS /Rastertoescpll failed ".
It seems that the error has killed the printer because now I cannot print from an older PowerBook G4 either. Further, a second printer has also been killed and will not work from either Mac.
Can anyone help me please. The only clue I have is that error message.

Yes I have tried resetting the printers and reinstalling the software from Software Update (several times) and I am now desperate. I have also downloaded the driver directly from the Epson web site but when I try to use this I get a message that there is incomplete software and I should go to Software Update.
I have two Epson printers - Epson Stylus Photo RX640 and Epson Stylus Photo 1290 both of these stopped working at the same time!
I am using a MacBook running OS-X 10.6.8 (Intel) and only the more up-to-date RX640 provides any message - the rastertoescpll.app message mentioned in my first post. It also shows an exclamation mark and Communications Error message in the print queue even when there is no printing going on.
The 1290 simply reports that there is an error and gives no details.
The weird thing is that I also use an old PowerBook G4 running OS-X 10.3.9 which was happy to use both the printers and failed to print from either Epson at exactly the same time. This means that it is not possible to identify the possible fault from any of the four devices.
I have, of course checked the USB cables swapping them out and connecting directly Mac-Printer. So the only common factor seems to be updated Epson printer drivers from Apple's Software Update.
I have tried connecting a borrowed HP Photosmart printer to my MacBook and it works perfectly.
The RX640 Printer Utility Software shows Ink Status correctly and also prints Test Pages and Cleans Print head correctly so there is not much wrong with the communication between printer and Mac.
So the real error seems to be with this wretched rastertoescpll.app error and I have no clue what that is "Error: /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Contents/MacOS /Rastertoescpll failed ".
If there is anyone out there who can help - please please get in touch.

Airport Extreme Printing Problem with HP Deskjet.

Hello ... I wonder if any helpful folks can assist me with my printing problem? I am using Tiger on a new Intel imac with a HP Deskjet 960C. This printer is listed as having the latest drivers included within Tiger and works perfectly when connected via USB so my problem I guess is not with the software....I have disconnected everything and plugged everything back together again. I also deleted the printer from the printer list within the Printer Setup Utility application.... The imac recognisies the printer and upon pressing the print button everything feels as though its just going to work. The blue barber shop scroll appears but the printer fails to kick into gear and I get the big red exclamation mark appearing in the status box .... I would really love to try and sort this annoying error ... Any ideas? Thanks. Book G4 Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations.
Take a look at one of these iFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility links, depending on which AirPort base station you have:
o 802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) or AirPort Express Base Station (AX)
o 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn)
If your printer isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.

Without your printer model numbers, readers can only give you vague general directions.
System Preferences > Print&Fax > ...
... shows a list of all set-up printers.
If you are having serious problems, it makes sense to "Reset the Printing System" (which also removes all printer set-ups) and add back each printer. It only takes a few minutes.
