Macbook Pro 1.83ghz Core Duo - Boot Disks

Hello. I have misplaced my startup disk. Any chance I could paypal someone some money in order to get a burned copy mailed to me? The apple store doesn't have any.
Thanks!

  • Windows 7 RC Build 7100: No Audio on MacBook Pro 1,1 (Core Duo)

On Thursday, I installed the brand new Windows 7 RC Build 7100 on my MacBook Pro 1,1 (Core Duo). This version of Windows seems to be zippy and far more polished than Vista: boot time is much, much faster. So my main problem is this: I can't get sound to work at all. In the Device Manager, the audio device is banged out and shows as a "High Definition Audio Device" rather than AC'97 or whatever it's supposed to be. If I check the properties, under status it says, "The device cannot start. (Code 10)". I've tried to installing the drivers from RealTek about a zillion times, the Boot Camp drivers from the Leopard install disc and I've run all the little setup programs as Administrator and in Vista compatibility mode, but no luck. Has anyone else had any luck in getting the Windows 7 (7100) to run on an early model MacBook Pro with working audio? Thanks!

Can't speak for MacBook, but for the desktop Mac Pro, the audio issue with Windows 7 install on boot camp is a known issue. You probably need to install the Realtek driver from your leopard install disk. It worked for me. Fixed the audio in about 5 minutes.
    Try this:
    while running windows 7
Insert 10.5.4 or later Leopard disk
    Go to Boot camp folder
Locate the Realtek driver .exe file
Run it, it's an installer file
    Restart.
Fixed my problem, similar to yours.

  • I have a MacBook Pro with Intel Core Duo and Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Want to upgrade to Lion to take advantage of icloud. Is there anything I can do without getting a new MacPro?

I have a MacBook Pro with Intel Core Duo and Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Would like to upgrade to Lion but it requires a minimum of Intel Core 2 Duo. Can I get what I need or do I have to buy new MacBok Pro?

I also have a core duo MBP with Snow Leopard and it runs perfectly.  There are very few things it cannot do as compared to the faster, newer MBPs, but that is attributable to the CPU, not the OS.  There are some who view Lion as downgrade rather than as an improvement.  If there are important applications that reqire a fast CPU or Lion features that you find essential, by all means get a new MBP.
I have an aphorism:  Obsolescence is more often a perception rather than a reality.  Besides the silver keys look much classier than the black ones.
    Ciao.

  • MacBook Pro 2.8ghz unable to boot Disk Warrior 4.2

    Hi,
    I have a MacBook Pro 15" 2.8ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, purchased Jan/Feb 2010 with osx 10.6.5 installed.
I have a Disk Warrior disk described as "CD Rev. 42 contains v. 4.1". I tried to boot from this disk by holding down C at startup. No luck.
Then I realised I needed to update to Disk Warrior 4.2 which I've now done.
Having done this I attempted to boot again by holding down C at startup but it still doesn't work!
Disk drive spins up and then back down but the Apple logo never appears, just a grey screen.
Does anyone know what the problem might be?
    Thanks and Merry Christmas!

For me and many others, I create a small 30GB volume ("Emergency Mac") with 10.6.5 or latest version, and have all my utilities there.
People use a slice of internal drive for their macbook, a USB or FW (portable is fine), or even use 16GB (8GB maybe) Flash memory device. Boot from there.
I have only once or twice used Disk Warrior from CD, and once (Panther) on a "live DVD" but not since. Isn't necessary or required.
TechTool Pro built in the ability to have a hidden "eDrive" to use for emergency repairs.
Also much better to run OS X off a drive instead, and to have latest Disk Utility, Finder and other programs.
You can also clone your system (SuperDuper, Carbon Copy Cloner) to another hard drive and boot from there and run Disk Warrior - as long as that is healthy. I prefer to keep a small mini-Mac OS X partition that I am sure of is problem free (and is also backed up to sparse disk image) to work from.

  • I'm running OS10.6.8 on an "old" Macbook Pro with Intel Core Duo 32. My work computer is down and I need to use Photoshop and cannot find a version that will run on here! It lets me use Illustrator 10, Indesign CS6, but Photoshop 4, 5, 5.5 and I can't get

    Please help.

Your macbook pro has a 32 bit processor and not a 64 bit processor?
If so, i believe photoshop cs5 is the newest photoshop version that will work on your Macbook Pro.
    System requirements | Photoshop
You can get a 30 day trial trial version of photoshop cs5 from here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-product-downloads.html
Also, photoshop cs through cs4 should work as well, but cs3, cs4 and cs5 will run better since cs and cs2 require Rosetta and can be kinda slow at times.

    1. Make a backup, open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion. When its download finishes, close the installer and open Lion Diskmaker to create a bootable USB drive with Mountain Lion.
    2. Press Option key while your Mac is starting, select the external drive and open Disk Utility.
    3. Select Macintosh HD in the sidebar and erase the drive.
    4. Close the window and install Mountain Lion

  • I have macbook pro running Intel Core 2 Duo if I upgrade to Lion OS Xv10.7 will my macbook run slower?

I have macbook pro running Intel Core 2 Duo if I upgrade to Lion OS Xv10.7 will my macbook run slower?

I have a 13" MBP with the Core 2 Duo processor.  I do have 8 GB of memory, needed because I need to run Windows in a virtual machine (Fusion) to access client web sites that require ActiveX controls.  The Windows VM environment locks up 3 GB of the memory.
I did all the maintenance steps in disk utility on the harddrive before upgrade, double checked compatability with all applications and drivers and made sure that I had a drive clone in addition to my Time Capsule  backup.
The only thing that didn't work on Lion was my RingCentral VOIP client, and that was expected from my research.
The upgrade went smooth and I really haven't noticed much speed difference.

  • What is absolute max ram for a macbook pro 2,16 core 2 duo processor?

Hello guys, thanks for reading this post.
i read so many people saying that my 2007 mbp only going to max at 3GB if i put 2x 2Gb ram
i look up on apple store memory, my processor doesnt show as choices
i then look up on OWC website, and they show my macbook pro 2,16 core 2 duo is in fact a "model identifier" macbookpro2,2
which made me viable to get full 4GB.
just to be sure, my macbook pro serial number is
    W87****W0G
and this macbook pro now has 2x 1GB ram pc2-5300
i saw people selling pc2-5300 on cglist, but they look so long and different from the shorter and taller one on apple and owc website.
so i am a bit confused, isnt this pc2-5300 not the same thing for all pc/mac? the one on cglist was made from hp, so i didnt contact the seller.
well, i am running mac osx lion now
will be plugging lacie expresscard usb 3
and will be using aperture 3 (which req lion to use so i cant downgrade os)
and i had few issues of screen occasionally flickering, does that mean i need more Ram??
sorry, i go a bit off topic here.
thanks for all you who keep reading and hopefully have a bit to say back to me.
    cheers
    Vito

    update:
after the information i posted above
i checked again my memory use in the activity monitor
and its true, only 3Gb is being used even the about this computer info says 4Gb.
thus, i returned the one 2Gb card and use one 1Gb from old one.
it made exactly same effect, nothing different.
i thought i just made this post so anybody have same issue later would know

8 gb will do I guess
Based on the information that you have supplied, you have a Early or Late 2008 MBP.  Maximum RAM that it will accept is 6 GB with the following specifications:   200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM.
The best sources for Mac compatible RAM are OWC and Crucial.
    Ciao.

It is not in warranty now, but I read in the web that plenty of people is having the same problem as an early degradation issue. Sometimes the system freezes and stops respondign so I have to restart and lose all the unsaved work. A few moths ago, the Superdrive stopped recognizing the disc because of a firmware update released by Apple!! It is not acceptable. Solution?
Apple should give a solution to all these people who spent more than 2500$ in a laptop that has stopped working in less than 3 years!

Yes, it appears the X1600 has more than its fair share of issues. I've seen reports of people reflowing the solder joints on/around the GPU with success, even baking the LB in the oven.
The rest is something you'll have to take up with Apple.

A component such as this one can be used to connect that display to a DVI port.
