MacBook Pro 10.5.2 & Airport Extreme - Apple80211Associate() failed - 25

I purchased an Apple Airport yesterday. My MacBook Pro worked just fine until sometime this morning. I was connected to work and then had to head to work. When I came back home, the laptop connection to the access point was lost and I've not been able to connect since.
Every other wifi device I have at my disposal, except for my laptop, can connect to the airport extreme. Two iPod touches and a Nintendo Wii work fine over wireless (same settings as the laptop) and two computers work fine over the ethernet on the Airport Extreme (one of which I'm using right now). Every other device has had no problems all day long with the Airport Extreme.
It gets better. If I unplug the Airport Extreme and plug in the Airport Express I had before, I can connect. Same SSID, same password, same everything. Works. No problem. Of course the other devices work just fine with either access point.
If I use the airport admin utility, when the Airport Extreme is running, I cannot detect see the access point in the list.
Again, the laptop connected just fine until sometime this morning.
Help!

Of course the problem came back about three hours after the previous post and required a hard reset to get things working. It has run the rest of the day yesterday. I set my laptop not to sleep after my last hard reset. Hopefully it will be working today when I get home from work.
I'm going back to the Airport Express the next time I have to do a hard reset. That device never gave me problems.

Using Carbon Copy Cloner which is quicker firewire 800 Macbook Pro to external hard drive or Macbook Pro to same via Airport Extreme?

Firewire 800 is the fastest and most reliable. Also it's bootable if you hold the option key down on a wired or built in keyboard.  Not bootable via Airport obviously or if Filevault is used.
It's only your first clone that's usually takes the longest, it's shorter when it updates as you only do the changes which you can control to keep a pure clone if you wish.

Can't connect macbook pro to internet with airport extreme

If you have ethernet still on your MBP plug it in by ethernet and tell me if that works.
Tell me how the Airport is setup.. what broadband modem and router you have.
What OS on the laptop? Yosemite I guess.. since it is the most troublesome.
Did it work before whatever change was made? Has it worked in the past? When did it stop and what did you do that coincided with it stopping?
    Upgrade to Yosemite??

  • Macbook pro to hdmi via airport extreme?

I'm a nube to Mac. Spent the last 15 years in the leaking boat called PC bailing and patching!
I have a macbook pro with snow leopard with parallels (windows) and airport extreme. I there any way to connect wirelessly to my Sony hdmi flatscreen to use as a monitor?

    No

  • Macbook Pro losing connection to Airport Extreme

I have a Macbook Pro running OS X Yosemite ver 10.10.3 connecting to an Airport Extreme. The connection between the AirPort and the Mac is randomly dropping causing me to lose WiFi. I have other devices (iPad, Lenovo Thinkpad) connected to the Airport extreme and they are not having any problems maintaining wifi connectivity.
Any thoughts on what the problem might be? Or is there an app I can download to diagnose the problems?

Diagnostics will tell you directly if you have a major issue.. It will list them for you.
Within the diagnostics there is a utility.. Since I consider Yosemite the major problem of all networking I have avoided wireless issues by avoiding Yosemite.. very simple really.. stick to earlier OS.
However if you use the utility it might show you something that is happening.. otherwise it is pure Yosemite.. bad drivers.. bad install (please clean install if you upgrade installed and then started having issues).. Network wise you can fix it.. but the method is arcane.
    http://arstechnica.com/apple/2015/01/why-dns-in-os-x-10-10-is-broken-and-what-yo u-can-do-to-fix-it/
Apple ruined the dns app in Yosemite.. hence at least why it is unfixable. DNS is key to how networks function now.. !! You cannot leave it broken and expect reliable network operation.

  • 2008 Macbook Pro wont print through Airport Extreme

    Hi,
We recently got an airport extreme and have our printer (Epson Stylus NX400) plugged into the USB port. My computer (2009 MacBook Pro running 10.6.8) will print wirelessly fine but hers (early 2008 MacBook Pro running 10.5.8) will not. Plugged in it will print just fine but it is a hastle to unplug the printer from the airport and plug it into her computer any time she wants to print. When she tries to print wirelessly, the print command goes through but then doesn't show up on the print que. The only difference I see between our computers when we print is hers pulls up some information from Epson regarding ink levels when plugged into the printer. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Harrison

Have you guys tried updating to 10.4.6
I believe they addressed some airport issues in the update.
Also you could download the firmware update

But I believe that just updates your firmware to work with boot camp and doesn't really do anything else.

  • MacBook Pro can't see Airport network but three other macs in house can

Very strange. I can connect my three iMacs (G3, G5 PowerPC and G5 Intel) to my Airport Extreme Network, but my MacBook Pro can no longer see the Network, and Airport utility (from MacBook Pro) cannot see the Airport base station (although other macs' Airport Utility can no problem). My MacBook pro can see 4 other networks (my neighbours' networks). Doesn't seem to be a problem with my MacBook Pro airport card as I can connect to the (non-Mac) wireless network at work with no problem. Am really confused (not the first time)!
Installed the latest Airport Extreme firmware last week, which was the start of the problem, as I then lost the ability to connect to my Virgin Media Broadband digital TV box, necessitating Virgin engineer visiting at weekend to connect a cable modem to the cable tv box, to which the Airport Extreme station is now attached. Had problems connecting my MacBook Pro last night, but eventually managed it. All other macs connect seamlessly. Am stumped.

I'm troubleshooting a friend's MacBook (Model ID: MacBook4,1) that is having serious Airport problems. This machine's Airport can't see ANY available networks. Sitting right next to my MacBook (identical model), hers is blind while mine can see several open and locked networks including my own Airport base station. If I choose to "Join Other Network..." and enter the network name and password for my network, her machine almost immediately gives me a "Connection timed out" error. It doesn't matter where her MacBook is, it can't see any networks anywhere.
This is a new problem as her Airport was working fine for the first few months. I've just finished making sure all software updates have been applied so she's now running the latest-greatest, but still no Airport.
This sounds similar to the problems other folks here are describing so I figured I'd add my voice to the chorus. I guess I'll take her machine down to the local Apple store this afternoon and see if they have any ideas. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if her Airport card was fried.

  • I purchased a new MacBook Pro, and a 2TB AirPort router. I have a 2007 24" iMac that I have been syncing my phone on for years. Is there a way to network these 3 devices so I can sync my phone on my MacBook and access the iMac data?

I am not familiar with networking in the least. I feel like, being as it is 2015, this is not an unreasonable request. Basically, I do not make much use of my desktop iMac anymore, other than as a backup computer and to sync my phones. My primary computer is my MacBook Pro. I'd like to make my MacBook my primary computer for downloading music, saving and editing photos and images, and syncing my phones, but i'd like to do so without clogging the hard drive on the MacBook.
Basically, what I am hoping to do is network my iMac, and MacBook Pro through the 2TB AirPort, and sync my phone through the MacBook without losing all data (ideally, I'd like to be able to sync through either computer at will).
Additionally, something like 100GB of images are stored on the iMac, and I specifically purchased the MacBook with the upgrades to do image editing on, but again, I don't know how to transfer the data to the AirPort, and I don't want to slow down the MacBook by storing all of the data on the laptop.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much.
    -Bryan

Sure-glad to help you. You will not lose any data by changing synching to MacBook Pro from imac. You have set up Time Machine, right? that's how you'd do your backup, so I was told, and how I do my backup on my mac.  You should be able to set a password for it. Save it.  Your stuff should be saved there. So if you want to make your MacBook Pro your primary computer,  I suppose,  back up your stuff with Time machine, turn off Time machine on the iMac, turn it on on the new MacBook Pro, select the hard drive in your Time Capsule, enter your password, and do a backup from there. It might work, and it might take a while, but it should go. As for clogging the hard drive, I can't say. Depends how much stuff you have, and the hard drive's capacity.  As for moving syncing from your iMac to your macbook pro, should be the same. Your phone uses iTunes to sync and so that data should be in the cloud. You can move your iTunes Library to your new Macbook pro
you should be able to sync your phone on your new MacBook Pro. Don't know if you can move the older backups yet-maybe try someone else, anyways,
This handy article from Apple explains how
How to move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Support''
don't forget to de-authorize your iMac if you don't want to play purchased stuff there
and re-authorize your new macBook Pro
time machine is an application, and should be found in the Applications folder. it is built in to OS X, so there is nothing else to buy. double click on it, get it going, choose the Hard drive in your Time capsule/Airport as your backup Time Machine  and go for it.  You should see a circle with an arrow on the top right hand of your screen (the Desktop), next to the bluetooth icon, and just after the wifi and eject key (looks sorta like a clock face). This will do automatic backups  of your stuff.

  • Macbook Pro 15" Late 2011 - Running Extremely Slow

I've only had my Macbook Pro for about 9 months. Lately it's been running EXTREMELY slow, and freezing up at some times. I have a RAM monitor, and it will sometimes drop below 192MB! I have 4GB installed, and I only run a few light-weight applications, No Final Cut, or Photosop. On a typical day I'll have the following open at once: Safari, Spotify, Minecraft, Mail, Messages
Nothing 4GB can't handle right? I guess not. I don't download from untrusted websites, so I doubt it's a virus. I honestly have no clue. I don't have the Apple Care, and I'm not sure if this is covered in the 1yr limited warranty that is included with the computer. Hopefully someone can help me resolve this issue.
    Thanks,
    Caleb.

  • MacBook Pro 2009 very slow and extremely hot

My MacBook Pro 2009 is lately getting extremely hot and is very slow with frequent stalling. Does anyone have any idea?

You can first try to clean up all of the old system files and cache files left behind. Also, try to debloat it. I generally use an app called Detox My Mac which works really well. My mac was doing the same thing and it cleaned it up and i've had no problems since then. I made an article on it if you want to read it and get a download link. Here it is: http://www.softwarestogo.com/speed-up-your-mac-with-detox-my-mac/

  • Macbook Pro 2.33 Ghz Airport Hardware detection issues.

My macbook pro has recently started having an annoying problem. Every now and then, usually when waking from sleep, the airport will not connect to any hot spots. Moving the mouse over the airport icon gives me the beach ball of death, and internet connect will usually become unreliable and will need to be force quit. If I restart the airport icon does not come up at all, and my mac wont detect the airport as installed hardware. To fix this issue, I have to fully shut down my macbook pro, then turn it back on and it will work! It's only happened to me a couple of times in the past few days, it's nothing serious, but it's still annoying having to completely shut down my macbook pro to get the airport working again if it decides to die.
Any ideas on how to fix this, or what might be causing it? I am not sure if I should take it to the local apple store because the problem might not occur while the "genius" is looking at it and will probably be deemed as "fine".
Any help is appreciated, I'll continue to troubleshoot to see if I can find something that will cause the problem again.

Interesting, have you applied all the security and Application Pro updates? I saw here that others exhibited the same issues that I have. Thanks for your reply...

I tried several times to install Photoshop Elements 11 on my new Macbook Pro (10.8.3) but the installer failed to initialize and the Support Advisor inspection could not identify any issue. I went today to the Apple Store to get help and the Genius guy couldn't resolve the problem either. He told me to contact Adobe Support and he gave me an Adobe token number.
Does anyone knows how can I resolve this problem? Any help would be truly appreciate it!!!
