Macbook pro 10.9.5 got stuck

how can i get it back

Hi
Try the first step, and try the following step if the previous one doesn't work:
while the mac is on, shut down the lid, wait for about 2 minutes, then reopen the lid.
do alt+cmd+esc , it should pop out a "Force Quit" window, so you can shut down the apps that make the Mac freeze
press the power button for 3-4 seconds, a window should appear proposing you to shut down the Mac
if all of these don't work, press the power button for 10 seconds, that will force the Mac to turn off, and then turn it back on
if it still refuses to turn off and you have a removable battery (i.e. you have an older Macbook Pro), remove the battery and put it back on again.
if it still refuses to turn off and you don't have a removable battery: wait until the battery goes down to 0%, recharge it completely and turn the Mac back on
if nothing works, try calling Apple.
If your Mac get stuck often, which isn't normal at all, try this article:

I just bought a macbook pro. But I got Lion instead of Moutain Lion.
I tried to upgrade it in the app store, but it requires me to purchase it first. I thought that I suppose to get mountain lion straight away.
How can I upgrade it for free?

Sorry, i forgot to response. I've gone to the store where i bought the macbook. I told them about this, they said that they were sorry about the services and that they cannot do anything about it. They asked me to call the apple service about the upgrade. I called the services, and all that they said was the period where upgrade is free was over. and if i want to upgrade it, I have to buy it. No free upgrade. And said that he cannot comment anything about the services provided by the store.
oh well. just have to live with it.
Oh yes they can!  Apple's policy is that you have 14 days from the date of purchase to return the comp.....no questions asked!
You should return it, get your $$$ back.  Then purchased another one that has ML from a reputable Apple reseller and/or from an Apple Store (online or off).

i lost my macbook pro and i just got a new one. how can i retrieve the pictures taken with photo booth(old laptop) to my new laptop?

Well if you don't have the laptop to get the storage drive out of it, and you don't have any previous backups how do you expect to get the photo's?
PhotoBooth is just a program, it stores the files on the computers storage drive, if the computer is lost so are your photo's.
There is nothing you can do to delete or retrieve them using your new computer unless you stored them online someplace.
DId you save them online? iDisk or something else?
I don't use such services because my data is mine and not theirs to snoop through, so if your looking for that sort of help I can't assist you any.

  • Macbook pro will not boot, gets stuck on great apple logo with spinning wheel.

I have a Macbook Pro A1287 13" Core2Duo Intel running Mavericks. This morning it would not boot and got stuck at the grey apple logo with the spinning wheel. I have tried:
    1. Resetting PRAM
    2. Resetting SMC
    3. Starting in Safe Mode
    4. Boting to recovery partition and verifiying and repairing both disc and permissions
Unfortunately none of these have worked.
I thought after reading other discussions that it may be the sign/start of hard drive failure and that the hard drive may be corrupt.
The strange thing is that I swapped the hard drive with another macbook pro that I use in work and it boots to the HD no problem, all my files and desktop are as expected.
So, I thought this must be a hardware issue, maybe something to do with the hard drive cable, the battery or worse the main board, but when I put my work macbook hard drive in my macbook it also boots. Other than swapping the machines, I'm not really sure what to do.
One thing to note is that I have noticed over the past few months that the clock will have re-set when booting up and that occasionally the machine will turn off with no warning and reboot.
I would have thought if it was a hard drive problem, the drive would not boot in any machine, and if it were a hardware problem then the machine would not boot with different drive in it.
    Any ideas, would be appreciated.

Thanks Linc for the swift answer. From what I have read on this discussion board and from other sources the model of Macbook I have does not have a logic-board battery, but may have a soldered on capacitor.
Also, would this not cause the other drive I tried in the laptop to fail to boot also, as I said in my original post, the machine works ok with a boot drive from my work macbook pro. Just trying to eliminate all possible causes before taking it in somewhere to be looked at by a technician.

  • Macbook pro 15 inch i7 al stuck in windows

So my school sends me this stuff to put win7 on my macbook pro. I followed all the instructions and got win7 on the laptop with one issue. It seems the copy to external drive files got corrupted and now I am stuck on win 7. there is no way to boot back in mac osx to reburn these files and solve my issue? this seems to be pretty crappy cause i followed the instructions and cause of one glitch I cannot access the mac side of my laptop cause the stupid install cannot finish. is there anything I can do?

Schools offer an electronic ISO that would need to be burned - or use to be before 10.7.2 and 4.01 - and burning a DVD with Apple DU was faulty.
Apple even recommends having USB kb/mouse for those that have BT only.
    Zapping PRAM when "stuck."
All the instructions, FAQ, How To, PDF guides and support articles are here -
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp
which unless the school has some network, LAN or other configuration information would be same maybe even copied.

  • MacBook Pro battery level indicator is stuck at 100%

Got this MacBook Pro in January of 2008. Great machine, replaced battery last spring and more recently had some sort of repair done when the screen would not activate. No problems otherwise.  Now all of a sudden my battery level indicator is stuck at 100% regardless of actual battery charge level. The computer will allert me that it needs plugged in immediately or it will go to sleep, but it would be nice to have the indicator working again. Any ideas?
    JG

    If it's a pre-unibody MBP with a removable battery:
    1)  Shut the computer down
    2) Disconnect the Magsafe AC adapter
    3)  Remove the battery
    4)  Hold the power button down for 5-6 seconds
    5)  Reinstall the battery.
    6)  Connect the Magsafe adapter to power and turn the computer back on.
This will reset the System Management Controller.  One of the SMC's functions is reporting of the status and remaining charge of the battery.

  • My new Macbook Pro (or how I got an heart attack but refused to die)

I have been using linux for many years now, and have had some really good experiences with it. The good thing is that you can do whatever you want in linux, the bad thing is that it takes so much time. For many years this wasn't a problem, but since I started studying music I've been pretty busy with touring and recording, and configuring linux takes too much time. Therefore, I was advised to buy a Mac, and so I did. It took two weeks to arrive, and I barely slept those weeks, because after reading about the new Macbook Pros(mid 2009) on the Apple webpage I was stoked. When I got it I almost **** myself! I was so happy when I got it! The first bad thing I noticed was that you could easily push the left side of the undercover down a little, which didn't make it as solid as I thought it would be. But, that was just a little detail. The first thing I did after watching the intro video was to play around with it, and after half an hour, I heard the disk spin faster than usual, then stop, and then it made a beep. Strange, I thought, but went on to format it and reinstall Os X without much of the crap that followed it, so I could get more space, even though I had upgraded it so I had a 500gb 7200RPM hard drive. After reinstalling it I did the usual stuff: add my mails to Apple Mail, get MSN, install music applications etc. During this, I would still get that faster spin, followed with a stopping of the hard drive, and a beep. Still strange, and now even annoying, but I thought that it's alright. A few days later I did a test recording with my jazzband, and we did an amazing recording! As it was all improvised, we were very happy to have it recorded. What we discovered when we played it back though, was that it made a strange noise several places in the recording. I didn't know what it was, but I was really ****** that it ruined the recording. A few days later I was recording something on my midi-keyboard internally, and then I heard that spin and beep again. When I played back the recording I heard that noise just where the beep had been, so I just figured that when the hard drive spins and beeps, it have a hard time saving what's being recorded, and therefore it ends up being noise. I got ****** off, as I had spent 2660USD(with student discount) on a machine so that I wouldn't have any problems, but ended up having one anyways. I called AppleCare and explained the problem, and they said that they would call me back with a solution. Three days later I got a phone, and they told me that it was because the hard disks get put to sleep after some time, and puts something on the hard drive to protect it, and that's what's making the noise. My answer was:
    1. IF that was the case, how come you make it like that, so the hard disks are put to sleep when active, like when you are recording?
    2. IF that was the case, how come you make it like that, so it makes a noise in the recording when they are put to sleep? and
    3. That's not the case, as I don't have that option enabled, both with or without power supply.
He didn't have any answer to this, and said he would call me up later. Three days later he called me up and told me that the noise was most probably because of noise caused by ground loops. I told him that I have read a little about it, and that it most likely wasn't that, but he still sent me an informative mail on how to fix it. I read it, and followed it, but as expected: nothing got better. I told him that, and he said that he would look into it - after two weeks of vacation. As I start my study on August 11. and are going to record from about that date, I can't wait, so today I called AppleCare and spoke to another guy. He let me wait 20 minutes on line(my expense, ofcourse), before saying that they didn't have an answer now, but would call me back tomorrow.
I also bought a Mighty Mouse with the Macbook Pro. I was well aware of the fact that it isn't configured for right click, so I configured it when I plugged it in, but still right click wouldn't work. I called AppleCare and explained, and the guy told me that "it is a very special mouse". He explained how to use it, what I already knew, and as I didn't have more money to call with, the phone ended the call. Needless to say, it still isn't working properly. The right click works every now-and-then, and the buttons on the side works once a week.
As I already told you, I am a musician. After not having to spend times fixing things, like in linux, the music software was the biggest reason I got a Mac. I bought Logic Studio, and was amazed when I got it. It was great! ...for 20 minutes, then I got this overload message, despite the fact that I had two tracks with a couple of loops, and a brand new computer. This bugged me very much, but what was worse was the fact that two weeks later, the new version of Logic came out, and I got no discount on upgrading.
As you might understand, I am starting to get really ****** off. I called Eplehuset, the most official Apple reseller in Norway, and they told me it would take two weeks to fix my Macbook Pro, and that I wouldn't get a machine while waiting. Since I start in the university in 8 days, I can't do that. I just have to load off some of my rage here, and I also hope that you have some tips on how to fix the hard drive.

My eyes just glazed over...Please in the future break down each of your issues with paragraphs separated by two carriage returns. It would be much easier when trying to address your issues.
Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Mouse
And edit your mouse settings to do what you want it to do.
Secondly, this is not the place to vent. If you have a complaint, there is:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
    or http://www.apple.com/contact/
We are just end users here helping other end users.
Third, from my understanding, it would appear you are concerned about the noise the hard drive makes when it falls asleep? Why not put your machine in screen saver mode instead? Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Energy Saver turn off all Energy Saver settings, or set them to run Never.
Fourth, if your machine was purchased just a few days ago, you may still be able to get an exchange from the store, quicker than you can get a repair done. You may want to look into that possibility.
Fifth, it does appear you found the Logic forum. I would persist in asking there how to solve your technical issue with Logic regarding the audio. It may be you don't have to do anything special to the hard drive. Remember audio can be transmitted by wire, avoiding ambient sounds.
    Good luck!

  • A clean install on my MacBook Pro has left my icons stuck on the right side of the desktop. I want to move them but there is no 'None' option which I think would free them to move where I wish. Suggestions?

A clean install on my MacBook Pro has left me with my icons stuck in the grid on the right side of my desktop. I had the ability to move them and have them stay put in various sectors of the desktop, which I found very useful.  The clean install upgraded the OS to 10.6.8 from 10.5.8. I want to move them again but there I see no 'None' option which I think would free them to move where I wish. Has the upgrade deleted that option? Suggestions? I am new to this community and if not new to Mac, I often feel that way. This is one of those times.

I have the same problem on the latest iTunes software and Windows 7. My window is maximzed and I do not see any tab for photos. Seems related to a recent update (IOS7?) as this was there - at least before the very big change to the interface.

  • MacBook Pro mid. 2012 got slow (even reinstalling Yosemite from cero)

    Hello I'm Abraham,
    This is my Mac:
Macbook Pro Mid. 2012 model (2.5 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB, 500 GB HD) with OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)
(Purchased brand new from Apple Store since 2013 and I'm the only user of it)
    The issue:
My MacBook started getting really slow that the only way I could use it was on Safe Mode. I'm a common user, the most demanding program I use is Photoshop CS4 (beginner level) and I'm extremly cautious installing non-safe or third-party software.
I found the problem was that FileVault bug that makes Yosemite hang or freezes with the last upgrade (If you choose FileVault turn on) so in some way the ecryption process get stuck the whole system.
I solve the problem doing this: (http://www.macissues.com/2014/10/27/filevault-bug-makes-yosemite-pause-or-hang-a t-login/)
After that I started using Mac as common and running really fast and smoth as Mac normal does, not demanding so much from it. But after some weeks from the FileVault problem it started getting slow again, not so much but with lethargy.
So I did this 4 tasks (in that order) trying to back my common Mac speed:
How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) - Apple Support
Using Apple Hardware Test - Apple Support (The result from this Test was that everything is good)
And my last move, and I don't know if was the right choice, was format the hard drive with Level 3 secure option (from Disk Utility and took like 40 hours to finish) and reinstall Yosemite from cero and keeping the Hard Drive without nothing (software, photo, music, etc.)
So my Mac now it's like brand new, but it still has lethargy doing things (I mean more than usual) like:
    Switching programs
Writing trough the keyboard / 'Backspacing'
    Starting up the Mac
Logging in and out from the system (Usually took about 30 secs. - 1 min, now takes up to 4-5 minutes)
Opening Safari Tabs / Finder Tabs
Even with taks like those ones, the color wheel appears.
In conclusion: I can use the Mac, but after some time it gets really annoying, it's like going back to Windows.
If anybody knows what could be, I will appreciate your help.
    Thank's.

    Thank's!

  • My Macbook Pro (15" early 2011) got blue screen every i normally booted it. It only can enter the OS when it's in safe boot. Solution please.

My Macbook Pro (15" early 2011, Mountain Lion, but after reinstall i change it to snow leo) got blue screen every i normally booted it. It enter the OS only when it's in safe boot.
I've tried any solution that i got from the internet, such as:
-Reinstalling the OS X (normal install & clean install)
    -Reset PRAM and SMC
-Repair Disk Permissions and Repair Disk from Disk Utility (the result is OK. There's no problem)
-Repair Disk Permissions manually (with Command + S at the beginning of booting)
-Checking Hardware from Application Installer DVD (result is OK)
-Checking from Mac Resource Inspector/MRI (result OK)
-Booting from Recovery Disk is same problem, blue screen
All of that solution is not working. My Macbook still got light blue screen and sometimes blue screen with lines after apple logo and spinning wheel is shown.
HDD is in good condition because when it's checked on the other macbook it can be booted. But if you must know, other HDD can't be booted when its plugged to my macbook (blue screen again). If i do safe booting, it works but can't play video and music also photobooth. I got confused with this case.
Any solution or comment? Thank you very much by the way

Hi. I'm not trying to rush things, you may have a different problem, but your issue looks quite familiar to me. I recently had a problem with the discrete graphics card (the Radeon GPU) due to overheating, all because a faulty application of the thermal compound in the factory.
In my case, the problem started slowly and intermittently, a few days after a gaming session (Quake 3) of about three hours (at the moment, I didn't realized that could be linked to the problem).
This issue is being actively discussed in another threads in this forum, but so far there's enough evidence that it's been causing similar problems for 2011 MBPs owners: screen corruption, black/blue screens, and in some cases, a total inability to boot. Some of the threads I'm talking about:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/13150366#13150366
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/21110132#21110132
So far, and since the problem seems to affect only the discrete GPU (that's why you can boot in safe mode) a possible solution is to disable it by removing some extensions which prevent OS X from loading the Radeon drivers. This post describing the process (there are different files involved depending of your GPU version, so make sure you are moving the right ones):
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22521574#22521574
In the case your discrete GPU survived and is not permanently damaged, I personally had success by changing the thermal compound myself, which completely fixed the problem (at least for now). I've posted about it here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22630561#22630561
I hope you can find a solution, believe me I know the feeling when you see your expensive machine turning into a brick and it *****.
    Good luck!

  • On a MacBook Pro Mid-2009, i got a black screen.

    Hi Everyone,
    I have a MacBook Pro Mid-2009 17inch.
I use to run Windows XP for gaming. Recently, my logic board has been replaced. Now, i am unable to boot into my Windows partition : i am getting a black screen.
I deleted it with BootCamp assistant and created a new one.
Now, when i insert the windows install dvd, after reboot still stuck on black screen. I tried with XP install dvd and a brand new windows 7 install DVD.
    Any suggestion accepted.
