Macbook Pro "13 (2013) returned from repairs making new noises internally.
Hello,
I recently turned my Macbook Pro into Jump Plus (an apple retailer) for what turned out to be a Hard Drive cable issue. My repair invoice says, "Front Hard Drive Bracket W/IR/Sleep/HD Cable". The tech who repaired my macbook said this problem was a common issue because of the structure inside and could also be caused by toting my macbook around a lot.
Since getting my macbook back after a quick repair (and replacement of this cable), I have noticed my macbook making new sounds. Occasionally there will be a tinkling noise, a chinking noise or even a sort of rubbing noise, mostly heard on the ride side of the macbook (but it could just be where I am putting my ear). It doesn't happen all the time and I find the noises are more frequent if my macbook has heated up a bit (for example after watching several long youtube videos). I do not find the fan to be overactive at all and my macbook is not overheating at all.
I do not know if these noises are simply caused by the shifting of parts when it was opened up and repaired. From what I have read I'm assuming it could be from parts rubbing together inside but I am really not sure.
The sounds aren't very loud and I usually only notice them if the room is very quiet or if I am watching videos or what have you on my stomach and my macbook is resting on my bed.
I am just concerned as to whether this is just a normal occurance due to the layout or could indicate a further issue that may need to be repaired.
Thanks for your help!
You should not be complaining to users about this. Return the computer to the repair shop and tell them what you told us! Let the repair shop make you whole like they should have done in the first place.

MacBook Pro freezes when returning from sleep
I recently started using a Kensington Bluetooth mouse with my MacBook Pro and the computer freezes whenever I return the computer from sleep. Nothing happens when I press Command-Option-Esc. The mouse pointer moves on the screen and the dock magnification works, but I'm not able to open any programs.
I've confirmed that it has something to do with Bluetooth because I now turn off Bluetooth before returning it to sleep and it works fine. I just have to turn on Bluetooth using the trackpad and then I can use the mouse again. I'm thinking that this shouldn't be a requirement though.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there anything I can do to resolve?
I appreciate any assistance!
Thank you,
Chris
Mouse: Kensington PilotMouse Mini Bluetooth
Bluetooth Version: 3.1965 (3.1965)For those of you who are interested, I think I've isolated the issue. If I turn off the option to allow Bluetooth devices to wake the computer from sleep, my computer doesn't freeze when I return from sleep. This is a better option for me than turning off Bluetooth before I put the computer to sleep.
Let me know if you have any questions. -
Macbook pro stuck on grey screen and making buzzing noise
hi,
Lately my mac has been playing up (1 year old), ever now and then it would make a funny buzzing noise, coming from the left side.. and i noticed it was running slower than usual. Im Running Mountain Lion and have 566GB of disk space left... after using it for about 5 minutes the buzzing noise would start and it would become unresposive with the spiral beach ball. So i would have to hard restart it. Now ever time i turn it on it gets to a grey screen and doesnt load further. eventually the sound starts again!! i have tried starting it in safe mode and verifying my disk in utilities where everything "seems to be ok" !! someone please help!!!Ethan997,
define “an average disk”.
Your question regarding fault is akin to asking “is it my fault or the car maker’s fault that my spark plugs no longer work?” — disks, like spark plugs, don’t last forever, and fault doesn’t come into it. Similarly, the fact that your disk (or spark plugs) worked yesterday and doesn’t work today is not a sudden “breakage” — by their nature, they have a finite, variable amount of time in which they do work. This is why (in the case of disks) making regular backups is important; when the disk stops working, you’ll have an easy way to recover from such a situation.
That being said, if your MacBook Pro is still under warranty, you should be able to get a replacement disk from Apple. And even if it isn’t, you could still try reformatting your current disk, to see if you can squeeze some more use out of it — but if the reformatted volume keeps needing to be repaired (and you have the patience to deal with recovering from the same situation again and again), that’s a sure sign that a new disk would be your best option. -
The other night I watched a dvd in my laptop and once i pressed the eject button it made the noise as if it was coming out but it didn't.Now it keep making than noise everytime I attempt to eject but nothing comes out. Since then I tried all the 5 steps suggested on her but I have not been able to get it out.
My machine is 2 months out of warranty and only couple of weeks ago I had the hdd replaced at a cost as it had failed. I am not impressed with all the problems developing shortly after warranty expires.
if the superdrive has failed does any1 know how much it would cost to get it fixed? Any other solutions I could try?
Also I want to make a formal complaint who can I call and send an e-mail to?See if there are some methods here you havent tried. These are the only phone numbers and email addresses that I am aware of that are made public by Apple: http://www.apple.com/contact/
Force eject a stuck cd/dvd
First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu.
If you are running a virtual machine, e.g. VMFusion, ensure that the CD is disconnected from the virtual machine. This will sometimes allow the CD to now show up in Mac OS X.
Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.
If you have Toast Titanium installed on your computer, choose EJECT DISC from the menubar.
Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder
Open Disc utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button.
Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray.
If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.

Macbook Pro Retina 2013 not waking from sleep
Hi all,
My brand new 15" Retina Macbook Pro (late 2013) is not waking from sleep. It doesn't occur after a short sleep (as I can wake it as normal by moving my mouse), but if the sleep is for some extended duration (not exactly sure, but at least within a couple of hours) then the only way to wake it is to use the power button.
I've tried an SMC reset to no avail -- the problem still occurs.
It's plugged into a power adapter and this is a screenshot of the settings page.
This is a very annoying issue. I'm hoping someone can help?
Thanks!
AdamI managed to narrow down and reproduce the issue:
It occurs when the 'turn display off after' time lapses. Eg, if I change the setting to 1 minute and wait for the display to turn off, the computer will *not* wake up without pressing the power button.
Very strange. Hoping someone can provide some insight!
Thanks,
Adam -
MacBook Pro late 2013 does not show login window after waking from sleep
MacBook Pro late 2013 does not always prompt for login, but opens directly to desktop, even though security settings are setup to prompt for password after 5 minutes. Up to now, this only has happened on battery, machine goes to sleep or lid is closed, 10 minutes pass, lid is opened and desktop is shown instead of lock screen. Console shows, that the machine was actually sleeping (10 min no log entries) and also does not show any error in regards to login window.
This behaviour occurs randomly and I could not track down any root cause/behaviour, yet. Sometimes everything behaves as it should.
Any ideas?
Thanks
marcusCount me in, I have the same issue, and from what I read here, it looks like a Yosemite/SSD related issue ?
I'm not 100% sure if it started when I put a SSD in my old iMac 2009 (as a fusion drive) or if that's after that when I upgraded to Yosemite...
I did disable auto poweroff like suggested in another thread : Mac freeze during the night sleep.
sudo pmset -a autopoweroff 0
We'll see if it helps.
It happens toughly a couple of times a week. -
13" macbook pro retina 2013 problem: blank screen when waking up from standby
I bought a 13" macbook pro retina 2013 about 3 months ago and it is for about a week or two that I encountered a problem: when I close the lid and open it after a while(or it goes to standby by not using it for some time and then I wake it up by pressing a button), sometimes it shows a blank dark screen(with mouse cursor) for about 15 seconds and then either the screen is turned off(and by pressing a key it shows the login screen) or it shows the normal login screen.
I also have this problem, and now the
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M is not working at all
I use gfxCardStatus for work on integrated card and i can't use other displays obviously, because all video outputs (HDMI & Thunderbolt) are taking their ways from discrete card (but working on other displays is my profession of audiovisual artist). My world guarranty is over now, new motherboard costs near 1500 $ and now i don't want what to do.Maybe reballing of videochip will help me, but i'm afraid that not autorised service in my country will kill my motherboard at all. This is my first mac & i have lost many time for take the money for buyng it. I have so much frustration. -
Sound stops working while using headphones on Retina Macbook Pro (late 2013)
I have a brand new Retina Macbook Pro (late 2013) with OSX 10.9.1 installed. The sound continuously stops working when I'm using my headphones (which I use on a daily basis). I've noticed that when I unplug the headphones, the sound from the internal speakers and the headphone port stops working.
I've already checked other answers and have tried their suggestions:
I've looked at the sound settings and it is not set to mute.
I've tried unplugging the headphones several times in a row and that still doesn't work.
I don't see a red light in the headphone port.
I've checked the headphones and there is nothing wrong with them (I use them with other devices).
I've tried using different headphones, but the problem persists.
The only way to get the sound working again is by restarting my laptop which is very inconvenient. I use this laptop for working and having to restart it every time I unplug my headphones is just not a solution. I honestly have no idea what is going on. This is a very new laptop (and my first Macbook); I've had it for less than 3 months. The laptop stays on my desk and has not been dropped or damaged in any way. This is a very expensive laptop and the last thing I would expect is for there to be a problem like this.
If anyone has a solution to get rid of this problem once and for all, please let me know!
Thank you.I have a brand new Retina Macbook Pro (late 2013)
Please read the warranty paperwork that came w/your computer. You have 14 days to return the computer w/no questions asked. You have 90 days of FREE phone tech support on top of your standard 1 year warranty unless you also purchased AppleCare which gives you an additional 2 years of coverage plus FREE phone support. Strongly suggest that you take FULL advantage of the above before it runs out. Let Apple deal w/the problems. If you DIY and mess up, your warranty will be VOIDED! -

2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to gather information about the state of your computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it on this page. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the request of a stranger on a public message board. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed: Copy a line of text from this web page into the window of another application. Wait for the script to run. It usually takes a couple of minutes. Then paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page. The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. Details follow.
4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply.
6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in your browser, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know your password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line "[Process completed]" to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report your results. No harm will be done.
8. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

Hello there.
Small bit of info
I'm new to mac, so i'm still learning as i'm a windows pc Video editor/Gamer user.
My windows pc is fast so i'ts probally just me being picky. However i feel like every hour i'm typing in "purge" in the terminal just to get more free ram.
Specs
i5 @2.5 Ghz
4GB @1600Mhz
MacBook Pro Mid 2013
Mountain Lion
500GB HDD Drive
More info on problem/concern
When logging back in my mac some times i click on icons they litrally either take 8-10 seconds to open.
At times with Adobe premiere pro CC & Adobe after effects CC open at the same time. At times the mac grinds to a solid halt and it just dose not respond to clicks ect ect.
Some times it even takes a while just to open the finder or prefrences.
Adobe can take 25-35 secodns to finally open.
Just some questions on mac in general
Dose mac slowly get faster the more you use it, i seem to notice one times my mac was running 3 programs at once. And it was handelling it really well.
Will is OS mavericks make my mac work a lot faster. It says it will, but no idea if new mac OS's actually make much diffrence.
Would 8GB ram make my mac a LOT faster. Like 10fps more in games. 20fps more. Would it let me run dual programs better? Like adobe programs better.
Any way, sorry for the hord of questions.

1.this can be normal, especially when using a traditional HDD. the computer is spinning up the drive again and looking for the applications you are starting. one thing that can help is to restart you computer simi often (2-3 time a week at least) and making sure that you are quitting appliacations.
2. the CC products are stil fairly new. maybe reach out to adobe and see if they know about the issue.
3. hard to tell you what's happening. depends on what else is going on.
4. Adobe programs are big. again pretty normal for a newer mac with a traditional HDD.
Questions
1. not generally, but it depends on what specifically is going on.
2. in the past OS upgrade generally provide noticable speed bumps on macs that are less then 2 years old.
3. YES. this is one of the cheapest and most noticable upgrades you can do. this wont let apps launch faster, but multitasking will see a boost. RAM is user servicable and is covered in the manual. another upgrade that you may want to look into is installing an SSD (also user servicable). this will boost your boot time, app launch time, wake from sleep, all of these fun things. -

I just bought a macbook pro yesterday (13 inch) from the Apple Store due to my old 2007 macbook (the 13 inch white one) running slow because of the applications I used. I transferred the old files, and backed all of them up on the 500gb G-Drive external hard drive using time share. I gave the computer to a friend of a friend and no longer have it. When I first turned the new computer on, it gave me the option to restore using a back up disk, like my g drive from timeshare. I chose that and it said it had worked fine. But when I got to the home screen, I couldn't find any of my files. The old computer didn't have lion, it was operating on Snow Leopard. I am trying to figure out how to get my files to show up on my new computer. When I click on my g-drive on my desktop, I see my backups, but all of the folders have the red circle with the negative sign in the middle. I was told to go to disk utility, click on the g-drive and click repair disk, so I did. Still, no progress. I tried using migration assistant and my g-drive wasn't showing, the only icon it showed was the Macintosh HD with the timeshare symbol laying on top of it, I tried doing it that way, again, didn't work. I know how to use a mac, but as far as the technical side, I am truly a beginner. I don't know what to do. I talked to 3 different people from Apple Pro Care over the phone yesterday and they were just as confused as I was. One of them told me that Lion doesn't have Rosetta Stone, so Snow Leopard files cannot transfer into Lion...is this true? I looked up my permissions on my old macbook settings and it said "No" on allowing permissions. If I was told to change it to yes, I would have done that before I gave the computer away. I was on the new computer for over 6 hours yesterday trying to recover my files, still nothing. Can anyone please help?!?! I am really frustrated and lost, any assistance would be greatly appreciated...THANK YOU in advance!!
oops, time machine, not timeshare, lol

Mid 2006 Macbook Pro won't boot (from HD or optical)
My mid 2006 Macbook Pro will not boot from the hard disk, or from the internal DVD. I am currently running the latest version of Lion (10.7).
I tried searching the forums and found a similar issue here:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1687899?start=0&tstart=0
But that was with a Mac Mini. And it doesn't look like the OP issue was ever resolved. I am having the exact same problem.
When attempting a normal boot from the internal HD of the Macbook Pro. It will make the happy chime of a successful POST. It will display the Apple logo. And that's as far as she gets.
No spinning wheel, no error image, no nothing. Eventually the system will start spinning up the fans as if it were under load (this was after about a half hour of just letting it sit there).
Doing a verbose boot, it never went past this:
com.apple.driver.Apple.IntelCPUPowerManagement
Photo of verbose boot:
Here's what I've tried.
1. Bought a brand new battery (as the current one was at death's door)
2. Zapped PRAM (Apple + Option + P + R)
3. Reset SMC according to these directions: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964?viewlocale=en_US
4. Attempted to boot to my original Tiger (10.4) install DVD, only to stop at this point during a verbose boot (Apple V):
Extension "com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform" has immediate dependencies on both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpi components; use only one style
Photos:
5. I am able to put her in Target Disk Mode (hold T at boot). Then with a firewire cable I can connect it to my wife's Macbook 13" and I am able to run disk utility on it! Disk Utility did find and repair errors, however, it still refuses to boot.
6. I attempted to boot from my wife's Macbook 13" in Target Disk Mode. I put her machine in Target disk mode. Connected the firewire cable. Powered on my 15" MBP while holding the option key. Then I selected her drive as the boot disk... however it still refuses to boot even from a known working HD.
7. Finally, I swapped around RAM DIMMs with no change in behavior.
Help! I know she's an older gal (Laptop is 6 years old now) but I'm not exactly flush with cash and would rather not give up on her just yet.My Mac started freezing (colored pinwheel) every time I tried using any application (i.e. Safari, iPhoto). After restarting for the 2nd time, it would no longer boot - makes start up sound but gets stuck on gray screen w/ apple icon. I tried resetting PRAM also - did nothing. I decided to reinstall OS; problem now is my HD is nowhere to be found! I am a tech dummy so this is way beyond my comprehension...I'm not seeing my HD from the Disk Utility either???
Side question...I backed up my files (mostly pics JPEG and videos) on DVD (had to compress to save). Why can't I open files on PC? -
hi,
Im trying to clean install OS X from last month using inbuild recovery partition method. Due to slow internet connection Im unable to complete the installation. I tried many times using this intallation process but it failled to complete the installation. My internet connection is steady but due to "time out" the whole installation process is skiping. So Im not able to use my brand new macbook pro late 2013 from last month beginning. Please provide an alternative solution to install os x.For several years now, Apple has acted as if everyone on the planet has high speed Internet access. That is obviously not the case for many people, and for them installing or reinstalling any OS X version since Lion has been a problem.
I can only suggest that you take your MacBook Pro to a location that has a faster, publicly accessible Internet connection and download it there. An Apple Store would be ideal, but if that is not an option, a public library may offer high speed Internet, as do many hotels, coffee shops, or similar locations where you may have to pay a small fee.
When the download completes, you can copy the Install OS X Mavericks icon to another folder or an external storage device such as a flash drive, where it will remain available to use again, as often as you wish. Do that before proceeding with the Mavericks upgrade, otherwise the installer will erase the file.
The installer icon resembles the following
(Launchpad)
The following will also appear in /Applications:
Copy that to another location, such as Documents, by holding an option key while you drag it there.
Of course, every time Apple releases an OS X update you will need to download another, rather large file. -
Design flaw in Macbook Pro late 2013?
Hi,
Looks like Macbook Pro late 2013 has a weakness, due to a design flaw. Let me explain:
My Macbook Pro late 2013 (13inch, Model: A1502) developed a dent (see attachment) and an Apple Store (Genius Bar) technician told me that this is a result of "excessive pressure" on the bottom case. He also mentioned that because the case is made of soft aluminium and it is only supported around the border (about where the screws are located), any "excessive" pressure in the middle may result into the aluminum case being damaged by the internal components; in this case the damage appears to have been caused by an internal bracket.
There is no sign of the bottom case being pushed inwards, there hasn't been any accident and I haven't stepped, or sat on, or otherwise mistreated my laptop, so I very surprised! Most of the time, it's sitting flat on a desk and only carried insider a padded pouch, inside a laptop-grade (padded) backpack! As you'll notice in the photo (and I can provide more photos, if needed), there is absolutely no other sign of damage, the curves look perfect, and the back plate is flat.
This is just a cosmetic damage and replacing the bottom case is the obvious solution but I still need to better understand the circumstances; I need to understand what went wrong and, if possible, how to prevent this from happening in the future .
I visited iFix it web site and carefully looked at the internals of the laptop, here:
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/MacBook+Pro+13-Inch+Retina+Display+Late+2013+Tea rdown/18695
It looks like the bottom base is only supported around its border. The middle of the bottom case has no backing to support it. While Apple could have designed a support structure around the battery cells and over the motherboard (logic board) and the back case, there is no support structure at all. Hence, pressing on the back of the laptop uniformly (e.g. while in a loaded backpack) will probably result to the back case being pushed inwards and, while aluminium does have some degree of elasticity, it can get damaged when hitting on a sharp object, such as an internal bracket. Hence, I guess the Apple technician is right, this is what probably happened to my laptop and I think this may have happened only in my backpack. But, how “excessive” can the pressure be on a Macbook Pro inside a high-quality, padded backpack?
If there are other MBPr users who have experienced this problem under normal everyday use, i.e. not due to an accident, could you please let me know?
I'd be grateful if Apple:
* Looked into this and provided a workaround, e.g. a more durable bottom case.
* Considered replacing our damaged cases for free.
* Published some numbers, to inform prospective customers about the durability of the laptop's case, e.g. in N/cm^2
* Took our experience into consideration when designing their new laptops.
Kind regards." I need to understand what went wrong and, if possible, how to prevent this from happening in the future"
So what's underneath the area w/ the "blister"?
"It looks like the bottom base is only supported around its border. The middle of the bottom case has no backing to support it."
That's pretty much been the case w/ every MBP I've ever had apart. Nothing past 2012 however.
" While Apple could have designed a support structure around the battery cells and over the motherboard (logic board) and the back case, there is no support structure at all"
In earlier versions of the MBP there is a "separator" between two areas of the upper case but it doesn't supply any support to the bottom case.
So here's my take on this; Apple has made these MBPs thinner and thinner. In the MBPs I've taken apart 2008 - 2012. In the 2010 I have here the bottom case is very thick and judging by tapping on it is definitely tempered (or heat hardened or stress hardened). I don't have the proper caliper but the edge reads .044 Inch.
There have been other issues on these communities that relate to the thinness of the top or the bottom cases in these newer machines.
Never seen a newer machine but my feeling is judging by the issues seen around here is that the materials are much thinner and probably not as hardened or tempered.
" how “excessive” can the pressure be on a Macbook Pro inside a high-quality, padded backpack?"
To help prevent this from happening again and if this were my MBP I would use/make a hardened case just for the laptop. Say two sheets of 1/4" hardboard w/ a 1/4" separator of high density foam. Wait I'm describing a high quality laptop case.
As Ogelthorpe says, backpacks are not the most delicate way of transporting a laptop. I've seen damage worse than this to laptops, iPads, iPhones, Kindles etc. Especially at the school where I was the main tech. I would say: "What happened to this?" and the kid would say: "I dunno it was just in my backpack".
I've watched backpacks fall from shelves, get stuck in lockers and get smashed into each other in the hallway.
I'm sure you're much more delicate w/ your MBP but as the saying goes ".... happenes!"

Why is synchronizing iTunes with apps no longer working?
Ever since my last iPhone update, I have not been able to synchronize apps from iTunes to my iPhone 4. I now have to buy and move my apps directly from my phone, not from iTunes. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to solve it?
