MacBook Pro 13,3 and 15,4 : graphic memory

I would like to buy a MacBook Pro but I'm worried about the graphic memory. On the MacBook Pro 13,3 tech specs I can read:
"NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory"
Shared? Does this mean that the video card hasn't got dedicated RAM?
On the other hand in the MacBook Pro 15,4 tech specs I can read:
"NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M graphics processor with 256MB of GDDR3 memory on 2.4GHz; Intel HD Graphics with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory"
Please could you explain me what does they mean with "shared" memory?
How about performance? Usually NB has a lot more video memory such as 1GB...

Precisely. It appears that the integrated graphics engine has 256MB of dedicated memory available, but it's advertised as "shared" because it comes from the (main) system memory. In reality, it's not the 256MB of graphics memory that's being "shared", it's the 4GB of system RAM that's being shared
And 4GB is plenty of RAM.
Also consider this: the discrete graphic cards available on the 2.4Ghz and 2.53Ghz 15" MBP come with 256MB of dedicated RAM. Only the top two configurations have 512MB of RAM available (the i7 15" and the 17" models).
You should be fine.

Reportedly Mavericks Apple Mail does not play well with gmail. It will download all your emails which can be a lot of email. It reportedly can take a few days to get it all.
Another issue with MAcbook Pro Early 2008 is they do not handle hard drive upgrades well. Mine cannot * reliably * operate at SATA II.

My hard disk on my macbook pro is full and most of the memory is from iMovies. I have a back up disk which is 1 terabyte and I was wondering if it is possible to move all my iMovies onto it without creating any problems. If possible how do I do this?

Hi there, I am a great fan of doing films. the big problem is I have filled up the hard drive on my Mac Pro. I have 1 Teribyte Time Capsul where everything is automatically backed up. I want to use this to transfer my iMovies file to the Time Capsul to create more sapace on my MacPro. If I do this will it create problems when I use iMovie?

Brand new Macbook Pro keeps crashing and restarting - Mavericks

Hey guys, I just got a new Macbook Pro on Monday and my first time turning it on it was perfect, the next day I turned it on and kept crashing and "Restarting due to a problem", it wouldn't even make to to the log in page. Every time I power it up now I get the same issue over and over, once I make it passed the log in it is usually fine but does crash sometimes randomly but not much.
I have read here that updating to Mavericks has caused this problem but surely when it came with it and is less than a week old it should be fine? (I'm confused as to why the report says my Mac is Mid 2012, I just bought it!!) Also the only software I have installed is Microsoft Office. I do have Silverlight Plug in installed for Netflix which I read can be an issue with Mavericks.

MacBook Pro heating up and fans at full speed

MacBook Pro heating up and gets extremely hot and fans constantly at full speed after upgrading to Yosemite 10.10 without even launching any applicaiton previously I was on Mavericks, I checked Activity monitor and a process called kexts is always running and have a large percentage of the CPU load I tried reinstalling Yosemite and the same problem happens.

MacBook Pro Retina 13 with Intel Iris graphics breaks Premiere Pro CC hardware output

Hi all,
I just recently got a MacBook Pro 13 Retina, to use for basic editing as a secondary system to my iMac. The MacBook Pro sports a Intel Iris integrated graphics system. When I use GPU acceleration (Open CL), my Blackmagic or AJA Thunderbolt I/O outputs solid green. When I switch to software only, video plays back fine.
I'm running Premiere Pro CC 2014 on Mac OS 10.9.4. I've read that Adobe is now optimized for Intel Iris graphics using Open CL, but why is mine not working when using external video IO?
Anyone run into this?

In UK and USA (and quite a few other places) you have 14 days from purchase to get a refund or replacement - no questions asked. If there is nothing running then this does sound to be depleting rather fast. My late 2013 13" MBP retina gives me about 10 hours using Pages (several documents open) and e-mail only.
Get a replacement and see if you get the same problem.

No difference other than one is for the Russian market. Specs on both are the same, standard Apple Store issue versions.
Of course the screen choice of anti-glare, glossy, high res or low res is not included.

I updated to MacBook pro last night and now safari won't open

I updated my MacBook Pro last night and since I did this I can not open Safari. It crashes and sends a report to Apple. Not tech smart enouh to figure it out can anyone give me simple suggestions?

Do you try to launch it and get an error message from the Finder (for example, something like "This application is damaged and cannot be launched....")? I remember being able to find this information on the apple website before, maybe by using the coverage checker. Did they take this information out of the coverage checker? Is it no longer possible for a costumer to obtain this information?

You would need to read the directions for your phone to learn how to put music on it.

DVD drives read the bottom of the disk, not the top. Smooth out the paper & try again.

I would do another SMC reset. If nothing changes you should take the computer in to an Apple store for a free diagnostic. You should make an appointment.

Also before installing Please go to Applications-->Utilities--> Adobe installers and if there is any uninstaller for CS5.5 , you can remove it and do a fresh install.
