MacBook Pro 13 inch and 16 GB of RAM.

On apple support page i can see that mac book pro 13.3 supports only 8 GB of RAM!
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1651?viewlocale=ja_jp&locale=ja_jp#link1
But i really need to install 16 GB of RAM! Is it supported by MacBook pro 13 inch hardware?
I want to buy new Apple MacBook Pro (MD102) and i need to know is it possible to have more than 8 GB of RAM.

If you buy a non-Retina MacBook Pro, it's open to users ability to install more RAM themselves and the TRUE capacity is 16GB although Apple only will install 8GB max.
The Retina MacBook Pro's are sealed up and the RAM soldiered to the logicboard which can't be upgraded.

I have a 2009 Macbook Pro with 1T hdd 8GB Ram and ran Maverick without problem...Yosemite installation has me completely frozen, nothing works but the spinning ball...I had to force shutdown last night, and haven't turned it on again...what do you advise?  During installation emptied cache, etc. Backed up using time machine, fortunately.

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
    5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible

  • MacBook Pro 13" Late 2011, 16GB RAM and Apple Premium Service Center

    Hello all,
My dad has a MacBook Pro 13" Late 2011, it came with a 4GB RAM. When he got Parallels and installed Windows 8, 4GB RAM were not enough to even deal with Safari so he had to buy 16GB RAM from Cruical. Today when he went to Apple Premium Service Center here in Qatar (51 East) they refused to install the x2 8GB RAM and only installed one of them. They kept warning my dad that installing the whole 16GB can cause issues with the MacBook Pro HDD and can make it go faulty. I wanted to ask if installing RAMs can pose the HDD life to any danger. Because my dad uses his Mac for work and wouldn't like to lose any of his files against small additional speed.
    Thanks.

its very easy to do, here are step by step instructions with photos

i m havind 15inch 2011 late macbook pro lap i7 processor 8gb ram 1tb hdd can i use avid media composer and final cut pro in this specifications?

Can't speak about avid, since I am not familiar with the software.
You can certainly use FCP X on that machine. It should work better if you use a fast external drive for your media and projects.
There is a free trial, so try it out and see how it goes. You should also follow some good video tutorials, if you are not familiar with the application. FCP X is a lot different from Avid, Premiere or even Final Cut Pro 7.

  • Brand new Macbook Pro (early 2015) with upgraded ram lagging in the simplest tasks

I received a brand new 13 inch macbook pro (early 2015) with upgraded ram (16 gb) about two weeks ago. I was expecting it to do tasks faster than its predecessors (the macbook pro which came directly before it, which my father owns, and the early 2009 which is now a family computer), but became dissapointed when it began crashing basically as soon as i started using final cut pro, and ever since it has been lagging everywhere else! I have check my activity monitor regulary due to this issue and have noticed "kernel_task" taking a large percentage of CPU (when im not using the computer all that much around 10%) and it uses 1.5gb of ram upwards constantly without fail! I am aware that this is the operating system so i dont really want to fiddle around with it but it does sound a little bit high to me. Originally it was slightly tougher work on final cut that would crash it, hence why i haven't seriously questioned it until now, but currently i cannot even move my curser around without getting the spinning beach ball of death! Please help me!

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • I have Macbook pro A1286 and was wondering how to connect it to the tv and have audio?

Like the title says, I have a 15 inch macbook pro A1286 (from mid 2009) and want to hook it up to a tv. I also know that my particular model of macbook pro doesn't support audio from the mini display.  I know that I will need a mini display to hdmi cable or converter and a hdmi cable if I decide to go for the converter for the video. I've seen both the cord (1 side is hdmi and the other is mini display just to clarify if I'm not using the right terminology) and converter online and any comments on which is better/preferred would be helpful. What kind of cable do I need to get sound to play through the tv? If you could suggest brands (unless all of them are about the same), I would be very grateful. It would be nice to know if the cords have to be specifically from apple just so I don't buy the wrong thing. If there's an easier way (less cords) to do this than hdmi feel free to say something Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it and am eternally grateful.

  • Why does my Macbook pro keyboard and trackpad randomly become unresponsive forcing restart in OSX Mavericks?

Randomly when using OSX Mavericks, since installing yesterday, my mid-2012 Macbook Pro keyboard and trackpad freeze and become unresponsive.
The computer is still running whatever I was doing, the computer does not crash, i just cannot control it and the only way I have found as a fix is to restart.
This never happened in Mountain Lion.
    Can anyone help?

    Very similarly.
Mac Mini late 2012. i7 CPU, 16GB ram. 12GB unused.
After installing Mavericks, it seems to grind my system to a halt. It is still running (I can move the cursor and activity monitor updates processes) but every application I try to launch results in a colorful waiting sign. It even can take a minute or more before an application shows "any" sign of starting.
I tried to open a terminal session (so I could manually kill a process) but the terminal session did not even process. It timed out after 5 minutes.
Acitivity monitor shows 90-95% idle and I have no idea what's causing it.
I have already rebuild disk and reset permissions (all seemed fine) 3 times.
I've rebooted over 8 times since last night. I cannot use my Mac anymore reliably.
    Please help.

Im just wondering how do i get it to boot the OS from the new drive, also will it install Yosemite on the SSD and will any of my data on the HDD be deleted?

  • Macbook Pro Retina and Adobe cs6

    HI!
I'm pretty much ready to buy a Macbook Pro Retina and buy the adobe cs cloud too. I know Photoshop is to be updated to Retina, but I've not heard anything regarding Illustrator and After Effects.
My questiom is this: Does anyone know how non Retina compatible software, specifically cs6 or cs5 looks? I've read Engadget's review, which is very positive. However, they say non compatible programs look bad - blurry text etc.
Had anyone managed to get one yet, and whats your view with Adobes apps?
Everything else sounds ace (apart from the waiting times)!
    Many thanks!

I've been reading the reviews etc, and looked at the Adobe forums, but I've not found that much main info.
Basically from all the reviews I have read, everyone thinks it's an excellent machine, and the Retina is great. Adobe's UI in CS6 apparently looks a bit blurry, but hopefully Adobe will fix this, and it's perfectly usable anyway.
Check out the Verge's review: http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/13/3082649/macbook-pro-review-retina-display-15-i nch
I've decided just to go for it, and ordered a Macbook Pro Retina, 2.3ghz with the extra 16gb Ram. My usual setup at my studio at work (I'm a freelance Illustrator and animator) is hooking my current 2009 MBP to my 20" Cinema Display.
Since I walk to work the slimmer design will be great, and if Adobe's programs are a bit dodgy on the retina display, it won't matter too much when I'm using my Cinema Display. It might make my display look old, but I'll probably upgrade that and get a 27" display in the future.
The retina display will be a nice addition for surfing the web etc.
Now if only Apple would release a non glassy cinema display again... Apple? : )
I hope that helps from my point of view.

  • Whats's the difference between MacBook Pro 13 and 13.3 ?

This, Whats's the difference between MacBook Pro 13 and 13.3 ?

Firstly, you are not in MacBook Pro forum, so you need to get your bearings.
    2nd check the specs page
    http://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro
Then Bing/Google for reviews, Ars is always good but dozens have done one.
2011 brings Intel Sandy Bridge processor boards, Thunderbolt, SATA3 (6G) along with options for SSD and much more RAM (can save buying RAM and doing the upgrade yourself)

  • I have just gone from PCM to MacBook Pro retina and would like to now go to imac. Is it worth waiting for retina on imac and when will it arrive

I have just gone from PCM to MacBook Pro retina and would like to now go to imac. Is it worth waiting for retina on imac and when will it arrive

I'm not Klaus but can give an opinion on this part:
As a Mac man yourself do you think that the retina display is worth waiting for?
I'm 65, have used Macs since 1989, and struggle with displays, cataracts, and bifocals. What I've seen of the Retinas in stores is that text size gets sacrificed for image quality. There are quite a few complaints about Retina in the MacBook Pro forums about not being able to increase the size of menu text without it getting fuzzy.
My iMac 27-inch is about a year old and I can set the display res from its default of 2560x1440 to 1920x1080 and everything is sharp. I understand that handy trick will not work for either the older hi-res macbook pros or the Retinas, so I don't expect it for any other Macs.
Speculation on Apple policy and new product releases is actiually not allowed by the Terms of Use around here so I doubt you'll get an answer to the "when" part. Anyone who does answer "when" is either guessing it up or violating a non-disclosure agreement!   Apple plays its cards close to its vest and we average users only know "when" when Apple posts the announcement.

i got a macbook pro 2008 and can not back up using time machine. it eject my external hard drive everytime. does anybody has a fix???

Does your external hard drive have it's own power supply?  It should.
Is your external hard drive formatted with the NTFS file system?  It won't work.
It needs to be formatted either with Mac OS Extended or FAT32.
(There are drivers available to add NTFS support to OS X but their quality is unknown, especially the "free" ones.)

Can I purchase Mountain Lion and make a flash drive bootable? I do not want to install it on my Macbook Pro. I have Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro now, and due to my hard drive needing repair, I need to boot off of another source, like my flash drive. I am in Paris and my Snow Leopard DVD is in Texas.

Mac OS X has a built-in disk diagnostic and repair program called fsck or file system consistency check. Here’s how to verify and repair your startup disk with fsck.  As soon as you hear the startup tone, press and hold Command-S on the keyboard. Keep holding down those keys until you see a black screen with white lettering. This is called “booting into Single User Mode.”  As the Mac boots in this mode, the screen reports each step of the process. The line should end in root#.  Right after the root# prompt, enter the following: /sbin/fsck -fy
If repairing the disk in single user mode fails, it means one of two things. Either your hard drive itself is failing (a hardware failure), or the directory damage on your hard drive is beyond the capability of the built-in repair procedures in OS X.
