MacBook Pro 13 inch. FInder - places - still showing deleted item
Is there a way of refreshing what Finder sees. Not having had a Mac before, I'm a bit lost.
This is what Finder shows under the heading of Places. -
Desktop
Applications
House icon with my Apple ID beside it
Name of document I have deleted.
Is it possible to do a refresh screen like you can on Windows laptop and stop seeing items deleted? How do I make sure any documents don't go to 'Places'?

I had checked Finder Preferences to make sure everything was still checked, and it was. But as a result of your suggestion I decided to go back and uncheck them, relaunch Finder, restart my MacBook Pro, and re-check them. That didn't actually change anything, BUT, in moving my cursor around the sidebar I discovered there is a "show/hide" button to the right of the word Favorites which only shows up when you hover over it (a bad design imo) and I must have somehow clicked on it and pouf! All disappeared! So, thank you! I would not have discovered that absent your suggestion. All is now showing in my sidebar again.

Calendar still shows deleted items
Hi, I have something very strange on my BB. When I delete an entry in outlook, it still appears on my BB. Overall sync of my schedule works fine. This is annoying when I trying to catch up with someone who has no longer exists on my schedule. All those items are no longer on my outlook (PC). Any hints? Regards,

sorry, there is only one (Desktop). After some investigation, this appears only to entry which are deleted by someone else (I got an invite to a meeting that was than cancelled).

hi guys i have an ipad 1 and when i plug it in to my macbook pro picasa opens up and show its name but when i open itunes i cant find the name, ive been working my head out to solve the problem please help me:(
Pay no attention to iinami, the amount of replies to people saying their handsets must have been jailbroken everytime iTunes throws out an error is tremendous. (Clearly you don't need to have any real knowledge to get to level 3 on these forums, let's hope apple's geniuses know a lot more than some of their customers.)

This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software. -
Multiple Computer Names for MacBook Pro in Finder
Recently I upgraded to Yosemite. I have noticed when I open a Finder window my MacBook Pro's Name has had a number after it and the number is increasing. Under Devices today I had MacBook Pro (2), MacBook (3), etc etc. We are now on MacBook Pro (6). I have also noticed in the Shared window, my MacBook Pro shows up 5 times. Each is listed MacBook Pro (2), (3), (4), (5), and (6). My MacBook is the only hardware on our network.
Any thoughts?
ScottHi. I have followed your instructions above. Did not have to disable the 5GHZ for the multiple instances to disappear on my wife's 2011 Macbook Air. All I did in the AirPort Utility was turn off the Guest Network. Rebooted the Time Capsule and my wife's Air and only one instance now showing. I do have a question. In the Devices section of the Finder, it still shows the Air listed as "KarenAir (8)". Any idea how to get rid of the number? If I go to Finder - Go - Computer, it just shows "KarenAir". I tried renaming it which it allowed me to do, but it did not update in "Devices" on her computer or in the "Shared" section on mine. Both still show the "(8)". Any ideas? Does this resolve itself in time? Why after renaming the HD on her machine would it still show up with the old name under Devices? I since have named it back to "KarenAir". Before doing that, I rebooted to see if that would have an effect. It did not.
BTW, "Back To My Mac" was never checked on her machine. So nothing was done as far as that goes.
Once again the question is how can the name be updated to NOT show the number under Devices in Finder.

About a week ago, my mother tried to place a DVD into my MacBook Pro while it was still closed & sleeping. Of course it didn't anything, but allowed her ignorant self to push the disc quite far into the disc drive. Once opened & woken up, the disc drive responded & operated normally, allowing my family to enjoy another great episode of Hanks & Speilberg's Band Of Brothers... UNTIL, the following day I opened it up & it began to make that "sucking a disc into its slot" noise, quite a few times before quitting... It hasn't damaged my MacBook Pro to my knowledge, I even put the DVD back in to insure that the drive hadn't been broken, but continues this process EVERY SINGLE TIME I try to open up & utilize my top-of-the-line Apple product. I've tried to restart/shut down my notebook, but this hindrance proceeds to linger. Also, I've began to worry that the amount of times the optical disc drive performs this mechincal process could cause future damage. Furthermore, it's a bit of a nuisance when trying to stealthly get on my MacBook Pro at night and end up waking up everyone... I have also upgraded to OX X Mavericks 10.9.1, could partake in the problem at hand? I would greatly appreciate suggestions & hope someone knows the direct solution to this problem!

Robert D. H.Damage was done when your computer fell. Your warranty if you have one and Apple Care do not cover accidental damage. Your only alternative is to take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you.
NOTE: If you are out of warranty and purchased the computer with a credit card, discuss the warranty issue with the credit card company which you purchased the computer with. They are the only ones who can at this point cover the computer after it goes out of warranty with the manufacturer (Apple).
If you have Homeowners insurance, place a claim with them. -

Can i erase my stolen macbook pro with find my mac even if it states the device was locked on a specific date (not by me) after being stolen?
Barry, the other stolen computer, my IMac does not show me a locked on such and such date, but simply says offline. I set that computer to erase when it goes online and notify me when it is found, and to play a tone and play a message that the police are on their way!

when i turn my macbook pro on , the apple logo shows up, but it is just loading. I have tried to turn if off , but the same problem appears. Someone know what the problem is?
Boot into Safe Mode
A Safe Mode boot can take a few minutes compared to a normal boot.
Once you are in Safe Mode open System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items
If you have anything listed there to launch when you startup your Mac, delete all items.
Then go to the Apple menu / Restart.
You can also use Safe Mode to do a "live verification" of the startup disk in case it needs repairing.

I just purchased a MacBookPro after having a MacBook. I have ILife, IWorks and Office for Mac. How do I get those programs on to my MacBook Pro? I will still use my MacBook at work so I need those programs to remain on it as well.
You need a Firewire cable to run between the two Macs. Using Utility>Migration Assistant running on your new MacBook Pro, transfer what you want (with all the preferences and such) from your MacBook to your MBP. Here's more info from Apple.
You might have an issue with the Serial number for Office, but hopefully you have that around.

AlejandroApparantly there were some compatibility issues with the Sims3 and Lion. I believe there is a Sims3 update available if I'm not mistaken.

My new macbook pro (lion) iCal has been showing the wrong date for stored events - even though i have put the appointment in on the right date when I look it up a week or so later it has changed?
