Macbook pro 13 inch i5 vs i7

Question

i'm a college student an a science major. i would use the computer for MS office, watching movies and videos, downloading music and movies. i'm wondering is the i7 makes a big difference when it comes to multitasking. also, i have to have thie computer for 4 years - it's an absolute must. so which would be better for my uses, but also to last the entire span of the 4 year nicely? thanks.

Does your college/campur store sell Apple products?  For colleges and universities that partner with the Apple eduction store, along with the education discount, you may also be able to get a 3year AppleCare plan (so instead of the normal 1year warranty plus 2 extra years, you get the 1year plust 3 extra years).  The university I used to work for had this deal, for Apple computers bought through the campus store program.
Also my opinion, for a science major, is do not skimp on the RAM - get the most you can afford.  Despite the defaults most machines still ship with these days 8Gb is my minimum recommendation for anyone who may be doing a lot of data analyses or working with large data files.  Even somthing as mundane as a very large or complex spreadsheet can tax a 4Gb machine these days.
