Macbook pro 13" keeps disconnecting

airport is disconnecting. When I try reconnect it will ask me to spacify the network, then will ask for the password.after specifying and entering the passwordI click enter, it wiil come back and say wrong password. Although I can see I have entered the correct password.

I'm seeing this with my 802.11ac Airport Extreme, too. Is that what you're connecting to?
Do you have any other devices which are having this problem with your base station? If other devices are okay and only your Macbook Pro has the problem then it's not your access point.
Once my Mac starts disconnecting and needing the password, my other devices have the same problem, so it's definitely my access point. Power cycling the Airport Extreme solves the problem for me but there's got to be a better solution.

    I'll be browsing the internet probably surfing reddit (because what else do college kids do right?) and I'll click one of the links I'm interested in:
    The page won't load at all, as if I have NO internet connection.
    Click the wifi icon in the status bar. Before several networks (not just my current network) would show up. Now ONLY the network I'm currently connected to shows up.
    Turn off the wifi to try to "refresh" it.
    Turn Wifi back on. Now it will say "Searching for network" and show that I'm connected to a network, but the bars never fill the status bar icon. If I go to System Preferences > Network and try to turn on the wifi there it lets me click the button, but nothing happens.
    Get frustrated that the wifi WILL NOT TURN BACK ON and restart computer
    Start browsing the internet again or doing whatever college students do on the internet until it disconnects again.

    What I've done to try to aleviate this:
    Made a genius bar apointment. I'm out of warrenty, but he did confirm for me that my wifi card is working as expected, and it's not a hardware issue, but more than probable a software issue. He did some cool trick where he went to Library>Preferences>System Configurations and deleted the entire contents (I think this is where the network information is stored according to some of the plists I looked through) then restarted the machine and everything seemed to work ok for a while, but the problem came back. I actually still do this sometimes when it happens but results seem to be the same every time (Plus I have to re enter network information when I do this).
    Genius bar guy suggested that I try reinstalling Mountain Lion. Didn't want to get rid of my data, so I just did an install over my current build. This took some time, but it seemed to work for a while, but alas the problem came back.
    Genius bar guy suggested (as a last resort) a fresh install. So That's what I did. I backed up my computer (Really I just coppied my documents folder and music folder to an external. I did not use a time machine back up because "ain't nobody got time for dat") and I then formatted my hard drive (Which is an SSD if that may have anything to do with anything), and installed mountain lion again. For a while things seemed good, but the problem came back.
    For clarification:
    It has happened on multiple networks, not just the same network.
    On top of that, every time it happens I have other devices connected to the same network and they work fine.
    It has not always happened, this recently started about 2 weeks ago.
    I have not recently installed any software that could have possibley done this (I use mostly MAS store stuff with the exception of Bartender, TotalFinder, and xQuarts, but all 3 of those had long been installed before I had to format my machine)
    I can't really force the problem, but it seems to happen sometimes after the machine falls asleep, but I know for a fact it's also happened mid use (as described above)
    Can anyone give me any kind of clue as to what is happening, why, and how I can fix it?

    Years of fine internet use via WIFI then randomly it starts dropping then one day (weeks later) it is no longer accessible at all and even saying "No hardware installed" when I click on WIFI icon at the top right on screen. Here is how I finally fixed it!:

The program appears to have reminded my four year old macbook pro that it is indeed WIFI capable.

    You then click on a file when its downloaded and a file called MAC will appear, then click on install. Within 5 minutes you should have your WIFI back. My macbook pro crashed again today but without having to get the shortest ethernet cable you've ever seen out again - I was able to install the program again and WIFI was up and running once more. Moral of the story - didn't need to spend any money to fix this and not even using the USB dongle.

    This also worked on a MacBook that lost its WIFI when a user accounts password was changed and the keychain password wasn't known to them - another random way to lose WIFI apparently

    Since it started when you replaced your router that sounds like a router problem.

    If your content is still being displayed incorrectly, I would check the resolution setting for the built in display with this article:
    OS X Yosemite: Adjust your display’s resolution
    If it keeps happening whenever you use AirPlay then I would use this section of the following article to reset the display system:
    Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays
    Reset the system
    You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.Reset the resolution
    Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
    From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
    Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
    Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.

    I only have 1 apple ID and the same was used to set up this early 2011 macbook pro and iPhoto app. I don't want to loose out on any photos. I tried logging out of app store and back in but no luck. PLEEAASEE HELPP!!!
    This problem has been reported by quite a few forum members, who skipped the update to iPhoto 9.5.1 while running Mavericks. In that case try to purchase iPhoto again instead of updating.
    After making your backup try the following:
    Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the applications folder, but do not empty the Trash.
    Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your AppleID.
    Open the main page of the App Store and search for iPhoto.
    If iPhoto is listed as "Free", click the "Free" button to buy it with your current AppleID.

    At some point, your internal HD was selected for use as Time Machine backups, and a Backups.backupdb folder was created at the top level.   So OSX thinks you're trying to install it on the same drive as your backups.
    Open your internal HD with the Finder (you won't find it via a Spotlight or Finder search) and delete that folder.

    Migration should never be done with any Adobe program.
    If you have done Migration, you have to UNINSTALL first (if even possible) and then download Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool and run that also. When this is done, restart your computer and install the programs from an original Adobe Installer.
    Other question is, if your OS is supporting that version. You can try it, it is not officially supported, but it might work.
    But CC will work, upgrade to CC2014 (without additional cost), use that as it is better anyway.

    Note the date and time the problem occurred, then go to Applications/Utilities/Console and copy the log starting at the time of the crash. Paste the log in a reply. Please do not use a screen shot as they can be hard to read. If there are repeated runs of the same messages, please post only one run. Be selective about what you post and don’t  post huge amounts.     For issues with video resolution not being consistent, I would start with resetting the NVRAM on your MacBook Pro. That will reset the resolution to its default as well as resetting other default settings like sound volume and start up volume.   • Macbook Pro 2011 keeps freezing and disconnecting from internet

    Ever since I upgraded to 10.8 Mountain Lion, my macbook has been acting up and its becoming a real big hassle.
    The first big issue is it keeps freezing. Everything freezes, the only thing I can do is move my mouse cursor around but I can't open anything, everything just becomes frozen. Whenever this happens I have to hard reset my macbook and turn it on again all the time. This occurs between an hour of use to 3 days of use, its always random.
    My 2nd issue is my airport keeps disconnecting, It doesn't show that its disconnected but I can never connect to anything or open any pages on google chrome or safari.
    Can anyone figure out whats the source of this issue? I took it into the genius bar and they weren't even sure either, but then again they didn't do a thorough investigation they just quickly looked at it because I was runnnig short on time.

    Been having the same problem since I upgraded to Mountain Lion - MBP (2011) crashing at least twice a day. I noticed that it's Chrome that crashes first, so I'm using Safari for now, so lets see if it makes any difference.

    I have what is - for me - a complicated question here. I will try to explain with a minimum of words yet still get the pertinent info in. I really couldn't find the exact right forum to put it in!
    So, as background, I had an early-2008 Macbook that died and was replaced with a unibody white Macbook (a few weeks ago, so pre-iLife '11). So, that left me with the new unibody Macbook, with all of my data on it, and a USB hard drive with a Time Machine backup on it that is configured to the dead, early-2008 Macbook.
    I don't want to keep the unibody plastic Macbook as I want a Firewire drive and an external battery monitor, both of which I had on my previous Macbook. I would like to buy a Macbook Pro which will give me back those things.
    BUT, I don't want iPhoto '11, because I e-mail photos from Apple Mail all the time, and the templates won't work for me. I would prefer iPhoto '09 (which I have on my unibody plastic Macbook).
    If I buy a new MBP, I know it will come with iLife '11. What I want to know is, can I start up the new MBP, NOT do migration assistant, and then somehow get iPhoto 9 on it and THEN do migration assistant? So that I end up with i-Life '11 for everything but iPhoto? If so, how do I do that?
    Then my second question is how to handle the data on my USB backup harddrive. It has a Time Machine backup from my dead, early-2008 Macbook which was running Leopard and iLife 08, plus, as I now understand, it is "keyed" to the dead Macbook. (I think in future I will use Super Duper and make backups that way and not with Time Machine, but I need to get over this hump.)
    I called the Apple store and they suggested I erase my USB backup and start over from the unibody plastic Macbook, but as that would have left me with NO backup temporarily, I just couldn't bring myself to do that. Now of course if I buy a new MBP, I will temporarily have three hard drives (unibody plastic, new MBP, and backup drive), so I think I could get things all settled and keep two copies of info at all times. But I have not pulled the trigger on the MBP because of the new iLife '11 and my not wanting the new iPhoto.
    Sorry this is so complicated. But of course that's why I need some help in figuring it out!

    I realized I still had this as an open question, so I thought I would follow up. By calling around, I was able to locate a Macbook Pro that still had ILife 09, so I bought that.
    But then I found out I could actually continue on with Ilife 08, but just wiping the new computer and reinstalling the first disc (system) but not the second one (ilife). So then when I used a Time Machine backup from my old computer to migrate to the new one, it simply continued on with O8. This made me even happier as I really was trying to avoid Faces in iPhoto 09.

  • When I'm trying to sync my iPad with iTunes on my MacBook Pro, i keep getting a message that certain recent purchases (TV shows) won't sync because the computer is not authorized.  But, it IS authorized!  What's going on here??

    I've recently upgraded my iPad to OS 5 and I am running iTunes 10 on my MacBook Pro.  For some unexplainable reason, I'm now getting a message that items (mainly TV shows I've purchased through iTunes) are not able to be downloaded because the computer is "not authorized."  But the computer IS authorized.  I follow the instructions to "authorize" it and, of course, I'm then told that the computer is already authorized!  Still, the downloads won't sync.
    Can anyone help me out with this?

    I have the same problem. It is only with tv shows and only with programs I have downloaded after the software update.
    Apple support sent me the above link too....but it doesn't solve the problem...my computer is authorized and the content is in my library and will play on my Mac air, but it will not sync the tv shows, it keeps saying my computer isn't authorized for it.
    No answers here, but you are definitely not alone with this issue.

  • New Macbook Pro 2012 keeps freezing (HELP!!)

    It keeps freezing, it happens after a few hours, sometimes after a few minutes!!
    First, the app (google chroome, safari, skype)  and then, the finder... I can move the cursor but it doesn't respond, the beach ball won't stop spinning and I had to force shut down by holding the power button (not once...two, three or four times a day)
    I've done everything, disk utility almost every day (repair permissions), resetting the pram... I don't know what else to do... I was thinking about buying 8GB RAM (2x 4) but I don't want to waste my money if it's not going to work...
