Macbook pro 15" i7 2.2 early 2011 battery health

Dear All
My two months old Mackbook pro 15" i7 2.2 early 2011 start showing battery health 96% instead of 100% earlier at 17 cycle with full charged,
The battery run for approx. 5 hours for a mid process with WIFI ON, and mid screen brightness .
Yesterday I did calibrate the battery and today after all night charging (12hs)  it shown 97% only 18 cycle and 99% only charge. .
Is it normal ? how I can set it back to 100% again the charge level as well as the battery health.
Kindly advise.

yes it is normal.  Read this: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1909.  Also, your battery does not need to be calibrated, read this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490

  • Macbook pro crashing during dynamic switching. early 2011

    Hello.
I also have a Macbook Pro (Early 2011, i7, AMD 6750M) that keeps crashing to various screens (black, grey, sometimes restart) during dynamic switching to the discrete graphics card or while using the discrete graphics card.
I have read about several people in my situatuion and I also know that apple has released a statement regarding this issue with late 2010 models.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088
The thing is that my computer is a early 2011 and seeing as its basically the same issue, i dont know if that also applies to me.
Alot of people blame the fault on the graphics cards depleating because of heat, and to be honest that makes sense to me. Ever since I have had the computer I have been forced to run fans on close to max rpm whenever the discrete card is in use.
A quick fix would be to run on the integraded card alone, but thats quite frankly not an option. I bought a Macbook Pro to edit images/video, Adobe design suite etc and neither of these things work at all as well as they should (or at all) on the integraded card.
I know that the whole logic board might need replacing, and I really dont want to fork over close to 1000 bucks to get it fixed.
    Is there any hope?
    Thanks

I have been everywhere to try to get this resolved.  I have also been told I have to pay over £400 (GBP) for a logic board replacement that I have read fails within months far more times than I can recall. I emailed Tim Cook and I got a phone call from a very nice apple rep yesterday who's job is to call people like me and you, then try to sound friendly and understanding, but basically confirm there's nothing apple are prepared to do. I have bought more macs than I can remember, I have persuaded many friends and all my family to 'go mac'. Never again!! I couldn't be more disgusted with the brand I once loved with a passion.
The apple rep said this problem is 'just emerging' to apple . . .  everyone who is on this thread should actually get the problem recorded with apple, so they can basically prove to themselves how massively they messed up with the 2011 macbooks, then probably do nothing. If you are reading this then email your repair case number and mac serial number to Tim Cook.  I myself have decided to ensure all my friends in the media get word of this in the hope they can find a story in it.  Its my ambition to get this story covered with the BBC before Christmas. The only way apple are going to consider a replacement program is if they are forced due to very honest publicity. As the size of this thread proves . . they couldn't care less about our very common issue, its time to make it an issue for apple!

  • Late 2011 Macbook Pro  - worse graphics performance than early 2011?

    As per Apple.com:
Apple's Late 2011 MBP 15" claim 2X graphics performance as per Apple's tests from the last Nvidia based MBPs.
Apple's Early 2011 MBP 15" claimed 3X graphics performance as per Apple's (seemingly identical) tests from the last Nvidia based MBPs.

Can anyone at Apple or otherwise comment on this?
Specifically, It seems the Half Life 2 test drop sfrom X3 to X2 on the Late 2011 model, even though it has the 6770 AMD card in it.
    -Did Lion kill performance?
-Did Apple downclock the chips after reveiwers (anandtech??) found that while using discreet graphics battery performance dropped to roughly 2.5 hours?

    Luke Heemsbergen wrote:

It's likely the Half Life test is not compatible with Lion, nor is older 3D games.
If you want to use a test, use a more neutral test like Cinebench, GeekBench etc.
Or simply visit Barefeats and they will tell you

Remember programs are always in a state of having to be updated for the newer hardware and operating systems.

    About AirPlay and Airplay Mirroring

Your wifi problem sounds very much like the problem I had. The wifi would drop out, the icon showed it was still connected. If I turned it off, I couldn't turn it back on. Another user here pointed me to the problem, which was the wifi cable (the flat cable goint from the card to the motherboard). I found it on ebay for $13 and it's been running fine since I replaced it. This is the repair guide for your machine. The part number will be on there if you click the link.

  • My Macbook Pro Retina Display (13 inch, early 2015); has words imprinted on screen permanently? How do I fix this? OR can I get it replaced?

    Hi,
I purchased a Macbook Pro 13 inch (retina display, early 2015); just over a month back. Already, I can see a few words have been permanently imprinted onto my LCD screen?
    Any solutions?
    - Is there a quick fix to it?
    - Can I get my macbook pro replaced considering it's still under 1 year warranty?

Question 1-maybe so .  What you have is called "screen burn in" and might be the result of having the same image left on a screen for a long period of time. See if running a screensaver or something else that has moving images will erase it, or lessen it *
Question 2- yes, if  Apple deems that the problem is serious enough that the only way to fix it is to replace your Macbook Pro. otherwise, it will repair
    * this is the word from Apple, I guess

If I order a replacement, what version is it?
Can I install the latest version 10.8.4 in 1,1 model?
If it is possible, what I have to do to get it done? And the price?

MacBookPro1,1 can only run Mac OS X 10.6.8, as it has got a 32-bit processor.
If you order replacement DVDs, Apple will send you DVDs with the original Mac OS X version that came with your Mac, in this case, Mac OS X 10.4.5.
If you decide to get replacement DVDs, Apple will only charge you for the delivery

Batteries can and have expanded when they are old and their useful life is over.  More often than not, there will be a warning generated in the battery display in the menu bar or in System Information>Power.  You may use a #00 Phillips driver and take off the bottom of the MBP and take out the battery.
    Ciao.

If you are on Yosemite, and have a CoreStorage volume (the default), it is not visible on the Windows side. The Apple HFS driver cannot read CS volumes.
You can verify this by running the following command in OSX Terminal.
    diskutil cs list
If you get any output, such volumes will not be visible.
As a work around, if you really need it, check the 'Revertible' value. If it is yes, you can revert it to HFS+ by using the following command
    diskutil cs revert
Here is the syntax for the command. The LVUUID parameter can be seen as a long string for your Logical Volume. Do not use the Logical Volume Group or any disk UUIDs. If you need the exact command, please post the output from the diskutil cs list command?
    diskutil cs revert
    Usage:  diskutil coreStorage revert
            MountPoint|DiskIdentifier|DeviceNode|lvUUID
[-stdinpassphrase | -passphrase [passphrase] | -recoverykeychain file]
Convert a CoreStorage logical volume back to its native type.
The file system must be mounted and resizable (i.e. Journaled HFS+).
Ownership of the affected disk and a passphrase (if encrypted) is required.

I'm having lots of trouble finding semi-decent equipment at an affordable price. I would like to start a podcast with two hosts and I have a macbook pro that i purchased in april 2011. any suggestions?

I should keep it simple - if you start getting involved with mixers and multiple microphones you will find the cost escalating  alarmingly. If you can get yourself a decent microphone and spend some time doing tests to find the best way of balancing the voices you should be able to get acceptable results. You can't plug an ordinary microphone directly into a Mac - you would need a mixer or a preamplifier - so it's probably worth looking at USB mics. I don't know what cost range is available, and you would have to check that they would work with your Mac. Otherwise you will need an ordinary moving-coil mic and probably a USB audio converter which can accept a microphone - look at the Roland site.

Working battery needs to be in for the computer to function.
