Macbook Pro 15" Retina Mid 2014 MOUSE/TRACKPAD LAG. PLEASE HELP!!

Hello,
I just bought a new Macbook Pro OSX Yosemite this week. Retina, 15 inch, Mid 2014. 2.2 GHz i7. 16GB RAM. 256 GB HD. I've been noticing a lag when I use the trackpad and the bluetooth mighty mouse. It seems to happen completely randomly. If I don't use my computer for a long time and then start to use it again it sometimes lags for a second and then works, and then lags again, and on and on...
Sometimes the lags are 2 seconds long and sometimes they're less than 1 second long. It seems my mouse, trackpad AND keyboard are all affected by this problem. I'm pretty upset, seeing as how I paid over 2 grand for this computer. Does anybody have ANY idea at all what is causing this AND what I can do about it?? I'm not a huge computer guy.
The problem doesn't seem big enough to get a whole new computer. It seems like an Apple technician could fix this in 2 seconds. Wouldn't you agree? Please help. Thanks

I have similar problems with a much older system (a late 2008 MacBook Pro). In my case, the  problems with BlueTooth peripheral (mainly the Magic Mouse) are almost always associated with TimeMachine back-ups. This is a well known problem in the sense that I have seen posts about it going back to 2011, but I have never seen any specific solutions offered.

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider. You may have to leave the machine there for several days.
Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.

  • Macbook Pro 13 Retina (Mid 2014) SSD Upgrade

    Hi all,
Does any one know which SSD flash cards are compatible.

Apple does not support any user alteration of the 2014 MacBook Pro after sale.  You can check OWC, http://www.macsales.com and see what they offer, but making changes will void your warranty.

  • MacBook Pro 15'' retina mid-2012 - "ghosting"

Hello, I need your help to solve the following problem.
I have a MacBook Pro 15’’ retina mid-2012, purchased in August 2012, and in the last 6 months I had attended the "ghosting" (aka “burn in”) phenomena on my computer monitor, which is getting worse every day. With just a few minutes of high-contrast image exposure, followed by a gray background light, we can clearly see the persistence of previous image on the monitor.
At the beginning I never saw this phenomenon as a computer problem, but a fatigue phenomenon in the result of an intense use.
In the last 6 months, we can clearly see that this phenomenon is a serious anomaly in the computer monitor which has been aggravating.
It should be noted that I already have communicated this problem to Apple Portugal after the warranty expired, so they tell me that they can´t/don´t have to do anything about it.
I just wanted to share with you this, because I consider this anomaly a manufacturing defect that already was in the computer, and that this should be repaired by the brand without any extra cost to the client.
This computer is the top of the range brand, so is not supposed to have an anomaly as serious as the one I just registered.

  • Run two monitors from my 15-inch MacBook Pro (Non-retina, mid 2012)?

I'm looking to run two monitors from my 15-inch MacBook Pro (Non-retina, mid 2012). I don't want to use the actual laptop screen in this setup, I just want to use the two external monitors.
My 15-inch MacBook Pro (Non-retina, mid 2012) has the following ports on the side:
FireWire 800 port (up to 800 Mbps)
Two USB 3 ports (up to 5 Gbps)
Thunderbolt port (up to 10 Gbps)
I currently use the Thunderbolt port to one external monitor.
My question is: Is it better to run the second monitor via USB 3, or FireWire (if that's even possible)? What would you recommend?

    See -> http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/dh2go/digital_me/.
Good and simple way to get two monitors from one Thunderbolt port.

Watch the Apple Online Store’s refurb section for non-Retina 2012 models. The 2.9 GHz model is a very nice machine and there were some available within the past week. Check daily, because they go fast. I bought one last summer and I love it, but I am not playing games on it. B&H Photo still has some 2012 models, also.

I don't like the 'non-retina' MacBooks, why downgrade when for £100-£200 more you can get a retina Mac which looks and feels 100x better.
It's hardly a downgrade to those of us who care about being able to upgrade our Macs ourselves if and when we need or want to do so. For me, having a FW800 port is also a consideration.

  • MacBook Pro 13 inch (mid 2012) v MacBook Pro 15 inch (mid 2014) for After Effects and Premiere

    Hi everyone,
I'm interested in working with After Effects CS6 and Premiere CS6 probably creating quite heavily layered files and experimenting with and combining effects. (I also work with Photoshop and Illustrator.)
My workplace allows me to use a 2.5 GHz Intel Dual Core i5 / MacBook Pro 13 inch (mid 2012, non retina) with hard disk and integrated graphics card (Intel HD Graphics 4000 512MB). I understand this Mac can be maxed out at 16GB of RAM. (Official Apple specs I realise say 8GB RAM is the max for this computer but I've looked into this thoroughly and have confirmed that 16GB is in fact possible.)
I'm considering purchasing one of the new Haswell based MacBook Pro (mid 2014) models for myself.
If I do, I'll get the retina 15 inch / Intel Quad Core i7 / 16GB RAM / Intel Iris Pro Graphics / NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M / 1TB Flash Storage.
I realise there is a big difference between these two machines in terms of their specs - the 15 inch with the dedicated GPU will be far more suited to motion graphics work than the lower spec machine with integrated graphics card.
Currently, my understanding is that After Effects CS6 and Premiere CS6 do not support the NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M but from research on the net I believe it's possible to add this video card to the list of supported cards within the respective applications, forcing them to recognise and use it.
Having read about the upcoming Broadwell chip, which I think may be capable of supporting 32GB RAM (possibly coming in Q2 2015 from the various websites I've visited) I wonder if it is worth holding off my purchase, and maxing out my older 13 inch laptop in order to run After Effects and Premiere for the time being.
If I waited for Broadwell based 15 inch MacBooks I think its likely they'll be expandable to 32GB RAM, making the computer a better long term investment.
eg if Adobe increase minimum/recommended memory requirements for their software in the next few years. While I don't know for sure this will happen, it does seem quite likely at some stage. The 2014 15 inch MacBook - while an excellent computer at the moment - could potentially be slightly limited with regard to future Adobe software releases as its max RAM is 16GB.
I realise I could potentially look at a high end iMac if memory is a concern, but I prefer the portability of a laptop so I'm restricting myself to portable options for the moment.
    What I'm wondering is -
If I install the 13 inch 2.5GHz i5 laptop with 16GB RAM as is possible, how would it perform when running After Effects and Premiere? It currently has 4GB and it very quickly runs out of memory meaning playback of goes very slowly when previewing complex files in the timeline. This necessitates rendering of small test sections of the timeline to see it at the correct frame rate. Would the move from 4GB RAM to 16GB RAM give me a noticeable improvement in this regard? If so then this is tempting as I don't have to pay for it - I think my workplace will cover the cost of extra RAM. And then I can wait till next year to buy my own high end laptop.
The 15 inch 2.8GHz i7 quad processor has Iris Pro and dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT750M with 2GB RAM. I would be paying the full cost myself.
I realise rendering would be faster with this Mac but would I see a noticeable improvement over the maxed out 13 inch laptop when previewing multi layered After Effects and Premiere compositions / sequences within the timeline? I like the idea of being able to preview footage in real time as I'm editing as it saves time and I think it makes the process easier generally.
Any thoughts welcome and thanks very much in advance for your time and advice.
    Kind regards,
    John

"In this case yes, I can most certainly see a performance increase as your machine is still not too old and a RAM increase will help it for sure I just can't tell you by how much.
I own the same machine as yours (except for mine having 2.9ghz and i7, and 8GB of ram) so I think it's safe to say for me that the RAM increase will help you for sure."
That statement of mine answers your question you just asked

  • Macbook Pro 15 inch: Late 2011 or 2012? Please help

Hi Fellow Mac Enthusiasts, I am in need of your suggestions and comments. I plan on upgrading to a 15 Inch Macbook Pro with in 2 weeks. I can't decide between the Late 2011 Macbook Pro and the Mid 2012 Macbook Pro. I am basically interested in hearing from present owners of either one these two models. I am interested in hearing about overall performance, graphics, speed, etc. Just overall user experience. Just pros and cons from everyday use. Particularly cons- overheating, loudness, etc.
Your feed back will be very well appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

I bought a Late 2011 Macbook Pro 15" with the quad core i7, and ATI HD 6750M 512mb for around $1300 before the retina macbook pros were out. Its a great machine and the overall peformance is quite good. As for graphics I can run all Valve games like Portal 2 and whatnot, at the full 1080p resoloution on an external display without any hiccups, so for what I am looking for in gaming its good. Upgrading ram is a no brainer although for non-retina displays it is easily upgradable but when you get to the rMBP 15" its solderd and cannot be upgraded.
I don't have any problems overheating and the only times it starts to get warm is when I am running intensive games or encoding video.

  • I want to upgrade my hard drive from Standard 500 HHD to a SSD on my macbook pro non-retina mid 2012

I have two choices I'm going to install the hard drive internally and I want someone who has an idea about this now money isn't a problem and they are both close to each other. I want to buy one of these two can someone please tell me which is best.
    1- http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Micron/C400512G25/
    2- http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.aspx?IMODULE=CT480M500SSD1 and http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Crucial/CT480M500SSD/
By the time I do this of me I am also going to have a 16 GB RAM instead of the 4 Gb
    Now remember my MacBook Pro 15" non-retina mid 2012 i7 2.3 Hz

First, see my one and only user tip -> Upgrading your MacBook Pro with a Solid State Drive. It has some tips that may be of help.
Secondly, either of the drives that you've chosen should work well in your MacBook Pro. "Micron" is also the manufacturer of the Crucial SSD. I'm just a bit skeptical about the first because of the unknown nature of the beast... and I doubt that it has the most recent technology built into the Crucial M500 480GB.
You can buy from Crucial or through OWC - I would just pick the one with the cheaper price but I would definitely get the M500 series over the somewhat 'older' (based upon m4 technology, I'm betting) Micron drive.
Good luck... call back should you have any questions.

  • Macbook Pro 13 Retina Multi Gesture Official Trackpad Driver For Windows 8.1

    Hello Support Team,
I want to ask about the Windows 8.1 Trackpad Driver as a start.
I have got the Macbook Pro Retina 13 (Late 2013 Model), & I have installed Windows 8.1 on it using Bootcamp.
The options at the bootcamp are not very smooth & the dragging option is very laggy & not working smoothly, & I was wondering if Apple will release a Multi Gesture Trackpad Driver that works as the native Mac OS Trackpad with all the multitouch support & features or it's never going to be released?
Thanks for viewing my Question & looking forward to hear the reply...

  • Storage space Major issue! - MacBook Pro 15" Retina Mid-2012

    Hello,
I've had my MacBook Pro Retina for just a little over a year now, and i've just come across an issue that was never present before, when I delete items, the full storage capacity isn't restored. When I delete a 1.29GB movie for example, it gives me only 0.3GB back. This is making me very nervous, any more details you need to assist me in solving i'll be happy to provide if asked to do so in the comments, I'd really like this fixed so I can get back to my work.
    Thanks!

You may notice a difference in available space statistics between Disk Utility, Finder, and Get Info inspectors. This is expected and can be safely ignored. The Finder displays the available space on the disk without accounting for the local snapshots, because local snapshots will surrender their disk space if needed.

  • Macbook Pro 13" Retina Late 2014 Hot while charging in use

So, I'm very happy with my New Macbook Pro 13" Late 2014.
But I've noticed that the bottom of the Macbook Pro gets quite hot when I charge it while still using it. (Noticed it while watching streams.)
It usually sits on my lap and I'm making sure the gaps on the bottom sides are free to keep the airflow going.
When I use it normally: not watching streams, not charging. The Macbook just gets a bit warm while sitting on my lap
    which seems to be normal.
Is this normal or could something be wrong?

Watching streaming video uses a lot of energy. It's quite normal that this, in combination with charging, produces a lot of heat.
