MacBook Pro 17" Wallpaper

There really isn't a topic for this, but if you go to the "Mac" section of this site, go to the MacBook Pro section, click "17 inch Features" and scroll a little, the MacBook Pro has a colorful peacock feather wallpaper. Where can I find this? It's so beautiful and I can't find it anywhere!

I have just downloaded Mountain Lion onto my 2010 Macbook Pro and now my wallpaper photo is segmented into confused sections.  I tried changing it and it happens with all photos on the wallpaper.

Make sure that you don't have "Tile" selected...

  • Macbook Pro changing wallpaper automatically when I log out and in?

    Hi
Whenever I go on my laptop and change the wallpaper, when I turn it off and then turn it on again, it has changed to another wallpaper. It changes to the same wallpaper all the time, and I made sure that I hadn't checked "change every 30 min" or something like that and I hadn't. What's the problem?
    Thanks

I was able to change mine, and have it stay after rebooting when I used IPhoto to select background picture.  It may be temporary but I was too very tired of my background picture and I hope it stays until there is a fix.

Have you been trying to download from the app store? Did you get a message?
As a suggestion, you might go to an Apple store (genius bar appointment) for help. As far as I know, there should be no charge.

Agree with baltwo, though even if you have saved the install app I wouldn't use it unless its been used to install a known good copy of the OS already.
In your case, that probably means start fresh:
Restart the computer, holding down 'command' and 'r'. When the recovery disk window shows, choose 'Reinstall Mac OS X'.

Have just installed Mavericks and restarted the MacBook Pro. That was 3 hours ago and after logging in, I got my wallpaper and dock, but none of my desktop icons, just the spinning coloured wheel. It's been like that for 2 hours. Is this normal? What should I do, please?
I tried holding the on/off switch down to make it shut down, but when I turned it back on again, the same thing happened and none of the keys etc makes any difference.
    HELP!!!! Please.

No, what you're experiencing is not normal.
Try booting whilst holding down the Shift key - this will allow you to boot into Safe Mode, disabling third-party kernel extensions, etc. Your Mac will be slow to boot and will operate sluggishly. That's normal. If you can get in using Safe Mode then you have some start-up item that doesn't play well with Mavericks.

  • New Macbook Pro Retina keeps changing desktop wallpaper

Every time i turn on my macbook the desktop wallpaper has resets to its original wallpaper that it uses when you turn on the mac when you first buy it. I have tried changing it to one of the provided wallpapers in the system preferences and ones from my iPhoto but it still changes back to the default wallpaper when i turn it off and on.
Its a brand new macbook pro with retina display, I've only had it 2 weeks. Does anyone now how to fix this or is it a fault with the mac?
    Thank you

    Hi all,
I have had this same issue with OS X Lion and it continued on to OS X Mountain Lion as well. I have had the wallpaper switching on me to the default solid blue color whenever I restarted (every month or so) and when switching between users (every other day or so). So this issue was very frustrating having to go back in and reset the wallpaper to my preference whenever I switched to either user. I found a solution that has been working for me for several restarts and several switching of users now:
First, I took some of your advice by locating all of my wallpapers into a 'Wallpaper' folder located in each user's 'Documents' directory. I copied to same wallpapers to each user so both user's have the same wallpapers to choose from.
Then, I installed the latest stable version of 'OnyX' (freeware software). I used OnyX on both user accounts to run through practically all the settings to clean up the entire Mac (Mac Mini, mid 2011) including: Verify [S.M.A.R.T. Status, Structure of volume, and Preferences], Maintenance [Permissions], Cleaning [System cache, User cache, Internet cache, Fonts cache, Log cache, Misc. cache]. I generally left the default checked boxes alone and didn't change any settings and Executed the program to run as default.
After running OnyX, I re-set my wallpapers for each user and went ahead and tested the restarting of the computer and switching back and forth between users. It was very easy to duplicate the bug previously, but now I could not get the wallpaper to switch back to the default blue as before. Everything seems stable with my wallpaper selection now.
Hope this helps someone. Thanks everyone for your input too.
As a side note, my Mac is running much smoother and quicker now too.  =)

  • Macbook Pro Retina awakes from sleep to grey mode of my wallpaper

I just bought a new MacBook Pro Retina with NVidia Graphics Card and OS X 10.10.2. When the computer is put to sleep overnight and I wake it in morning by opening lid, a strange thing occurs. The screen first shows my chosen wallpaper in a grey mode before wallpaper changes to full color within 5 seconds. Is this normal? If computer goes to sleep mode for a short period of time this does not happen. Everything else normal and no other problems.

Agree with Kappy, but it you want to try to solve it.

  • Blue wallpaper showing on 2012 Macbook Pro

I have a 2012 MacBook Pro 15" running the latest Mountain Lion software. Today, when I turned it on, the wallpaper was a blank blue colour (normally it uses a folder of my custom images). I had to go into system preferences to recheck the boxes. I then added another desktop, and that came up with a blank blue wallpaper, which I then had to go into system preferences to fix.
This has only happened after the latest mountain lion update, which makes me wonder if it is something to do with that.
Any help with either fixing the issue or any reseting that needs to be done would be verymuh appreciated

No, you'll have to contact Adobe if you want to upgrade to CS5.5. sig just gave you the link to teh Roaring Apps website that lists comapatible software for use with Lion and Mountain Lion. If I were you, I would just go ahead and update to CS6 - or begin using Adobe's Creative Cloud. Since I had purchased a qualifying product (CS6 Design and Web Premium) I was eligible to subscribe to Creatiev Cloud for only $30 per month. Even at $50 per month, it's a great deal - all of the Adobe software you'd ever need for about 1/3 or less of your cable bill.
Good luck - check out the free one month trial of Creatiev Cloud - http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud.html.

  • Macbook Pro 13" Early 2011 Lag Spikes

Okay let me just brief you on my Macbook.
In September 2011 i bought a Macbook Pro 13" Early 2011 model, 4GB RAM, 2.7GHz Processor, you can get the rest on the site.
I bought it as a ex-display model, so you can imagine it already has some milage from it.
Through the (almost) 2 years i've had it, apart from the odd overheat shutdown, and a 1 charger replacement, it's been no hassle, even with me constantly shutting it and moving it. It seems that all the issues are coming in bulk.
I generally use the laptop for gaming, mostly World of Warcraft, sometimes Minecraft, and lately Starcraft, and Spellforce on BOOTCAMP or virtual machines.
About 2 weeks ago, the laptop started refusing to charge, i couldn't understand if it was the charger (as i only replaced it a few months earlier and the cable was still in perfect condition) or the port itself in the laptop. I took my laptop to an Apple store, found it was the Magsafe on the cable, replaced it on the spot, but the reason why i'm saying this is i'm wondering why it broke so quickly, and if lack of power has anything to do with it.
I've grown a liking to Spellforce so instead of having to restart into the Windows side of my Mac, i just use the Virtualbox Virtual OS i already have set up from when i used to work from home and have to use certain software on windows because Wine just couldn't cut it (and lets face it, Mission Control is awesome, then you go on Windows and everything just seems to cluttered). So i read the default specs for the game on Steam (2GB) so i give Virtualbox 2GB, but this was a MAHOOSIVE mistake, because as soon as i clicked start, it's been a down hill spiral.
The computer immediately started lagging, to the point where the laptop was actually unusable, so i force restarted it by pressing down the power button for 5 seconds and i let it restart. After it booted, everything seemed fine (i expected nothing else) so i decided to only give it 1GB of RAM, and just turn down the settings to the lowest possible (which is something i've had to do with World of Warcraft recently. It used to be able to run on Ultra when i first got the laptop, now it struggles on low and if i have a browser up at the same time). Again, big mistake, it lagged to unusability. So i restart again, but this time it takes 5 minutes to boot, and once booted everything is so slow, so i decide to re-install the OS, so i get my flash drive and spend the next hour moving things over from my user folder because when i would try to move a folder that had 5+ files or something that was 100MB or larger, it would error out saying a certain file couldn't be read or written, and would cancel and remove everything else that was transfering at the time.
So i restart but boot into the recovery option, and do a refresh the OS, and i let it download and install. I was surprised to see when it had all completed that it still had all my files, but it still ran slow, not as slow as before but definitely not as good as before, i would estimate at quatre the performance. So i assume that Virtualbox must have editted some system setting and my Mac thinks i only have 2GBs of RAM and not 4GB, so i search on how to reset the bootloader, and i was tried the alt + cmd + r + p, but after that when it booted, it came to the wallpaper but i was getting these popups that Finder had unexpectedly quit, so i click Okay a few times, they keep coming back up, so i look at the details and it says that the app had failed 500+ times before.
So i put my Snow Leopard disk in, use Disk Utility and use erase on my Mac OS partition, then i re-install Snow Leopard, then i download and install Mountain Lion again, but the snails pace remains. I do alittle more research and someone suggested modifying the partition size by a few gigs or so to re-write it and reset certain variables attached, didn't work, even after a reboot.
So yesterday i just put the Snow Leopard disk in, and i remove both partitons (Mac and Windows) and i make one partition. I install Snow Leopard and then Moutain Lion, and so far it appears that everything it back up to speed... however, i've been keeping a keen eye on Activity Moniter and "top" in Terminal, and my CPU usage and RAM usage are always relatively low. I always seem to have 1GB-2GB RAM free, and my Idle CPU always seems to be above 80%-90% but i'm getting these weird lag spikes. I notice it most when i try installing World of Warcraft again, the download speed averages around 3MB/s (my ISP is Virigin Media and i get 60Mbs/s fibre optic so i know it's not my connection failing) and then the app seems to freeze (stops refreshing the average speed, and then about 5-10 seconds later, it starts refreshing again but it's at 12-50KB/s. This also seems to happen a lot when i use web browsers.
I have noticed something new, literally only about 30 minutes before i started writing this. There is a noise that happens every 2-4 seconds, it's pretty regular, it sounds like a grasshopper, or other chirping bug/insect inside my laptop. It sounds like metal scraping against metal, which is worrying. It's coming from the right hand side of the Magic Track Pad, which is where i believe the Hard Drive is. I've looked online and this seems to be a sign that the harddrive is dying.

Yeah, the problem has been solved.
Unfortunately, the solution is buying a new storage device.
So if you're having these issues, i tried almost everything consumer possible, that's free anyway, and the hard drive was just too faulty to work properly. So backup all your stuff whilst you still can.
I bought an SSD for around £80, only 120 gigs of storage, but i have iTunes Match so i don't need to have my films and music downloaded.
If you're very mobile with your laptop, then i suggest getting an SSD. Lugging about a laptop with a storage device with moving parts is very very risky.
As soon as i got a new storage device, everything was back to normal. It was like it was new again.
Anyway, sorry i can't give you a free solution, but it's the only solution i got.

  • Issues using TV as monitor screen on macbook pro 13"

    Hello,
I have a macbook pro 13" and want to set my TV (HD Plasma) as my monitor.
I purchased the mini HDMI adapter and HDMI cable. When I connect the cable and adapter to the macbook and tv, the only thing I get on the TV is the background wallpaper of my desktop. No icons at all. I have looked on the forums and haven't been able to find a fix. Am I supposed to do anything else? I'd like the icons to show as well and the internet. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello Templeton,
I can't see 'turn on mirroring" or 'mirroring' anywhere.
I went to system preferences, hardware, displays, and the only options are resolutions, colours, brightness, refresh rate, detect displays. Nothing on mirroring at all. this is why I'm confused. I did read about mirroring but can't find it anywhere.
