Macbook Pro 2 has had 2 different batteries and fried both would it have to do with the power input inside laptop

Serial no. W8*******W0K

Based on the age of the machine it may have to do with a known series of Apple notebooks that had bad batteries.  Good luck finding an Apple Store that will honor the old exchange/repair program for them. http://www.macsales.com/ offers replacement batteries that will work as long as the case inside isn't too warped.

Sounds like the disk in your MBP is accessing data on wake up
If you are still concerned you can take it into the Apple Store where they can hear it to be sure

  • Can I upgrade my RAM from 4GB to 8GB for my MacBook Pro 13(early 2011 2.7GHz)? And how much would it be?

Can I upgrade my RAM from 4GB to 8GB for my MacBook Pro 13(early 2011 2.7GHz)? And how much would it be?

you can upgrade to 16GB if you wish to do so...
average price for 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 is around $50 - $75 depending on the brand.
why not spend $100 and go with 16GB 1333MHz from Crucial or Corsair.
you can get them from Amazon.com or newegg.com
see image below with 16GB Patriot Mac Series 1333MHz for $100.

You can sell your existing computer using eBay, Craigslist or the venue of your choice. You could then use the proceeds to purchase a new computer.

  • My netflix isn't working on my MacBook Pro. I tried 3 different browsers and it won't work on any of them. It said I have to update my Adobe player, which I did, but it still won't work.

My netflix won't play on my computer. At first it wouldn't work in Safari and it gave me a redirect failure (too many redirects). Then I tried it in Chrome and it won't work in there. It work for a few days in Firefox and now that doesn't work either. I have a MacBook Pro OS X Yosemite version 10.10.2. I just updated because I thought that would help. I tried clearing my history/cache but that didn't work. Do I have a Mac version of a virus? Help! What is wrong?
Also, I noticed when I log into my computer with my password when I first turn my computer on, The password box is slightly off center the first time, then I type my password, then it comes up again looking centered like it's supposed to. What is happening???

  • My Macbook Pro ran out of battery last night and wouldn't turn back on even when connected to power for a period of time. However, when I woke up, it did turn on. Is there a reason this happened and should I get it looked at?

Last night, I was watching something on my Macbook Pro and it died (out of battery). I went to plug it in and waited a couple of minutes to try and start it back up. However, when I connected the power source the light was green, which could not have been the case since I know 100% it was out of battery. I proceeded to hold the start button for a long period of time, but my computer made no noise and refused to turn on - it looked like for all intensive purposes it was dead. I left it alone overnight praying that it would be alright in the morning and luckily, when I opened the computer this morning it was restarted and fine. I'm concerned because I've had this happen to me a couple of times and while it always turns back on, I feel like there is a bigger issue that I need to get addressed. Can anyone help me with this? Any ideas? Thank you!

Apple Does Not recommend that. Please Read.

    From that article
    "Portables with built-in batteries"
Current Apple portable computer batteries are pre-calibrated and do not require the calibration procedure outlined in this article. These computers use batteries that should be replaced only by an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Apple recommend calibrating the battery when you buy a new Macbook and then every few months, or monthly if it used on mains all the time. This, as Apple says is to keep the battery operating at maximum efficiency. When the battery discharges and shuts the macbook down, it still has reserve power for a good number of hours. There is also a logic board battery to hold various settings.
I rather think I will take Apples advice on using their equipment not yours, but I would be intrigued to discover what is it you know that Apple doesnt about its batteries?

  • Firefox will not open Version 4.01 (tried to download new version), on MacBook Pro running 10.6.8. Safari and Chrom both work OK

I cannot get on-line with Firefox. It simply will not open any page. I'm told it cannot make a connection. And yet both Safari and Chrome work fine, hence it is not a connection problem.
Moreover, when I started with Chrome, it offered me the option to export bookmarks, but only from Safari. Firefox never appeared in the import box
I was using Firefox 4.01. I tried to download the new version, dragged it to Applications, but 4.01 remains in situ. I work on a MacBook Pro running 10.6.8

  • Just got a new macbook pro, it has a password, did not choose any password yet, so how can i get the password back ?

I just got my MBP, it is a new one. and just found out that my mac has a password. when i tried to instal a new app, it asked me to enter the password.
what should i do? any help

But if you bought a new Mac, did someone already run the initial setup procedure for you?  Ordinarily, with a brand new, out of the box Apple computer, at first boot you would have been taken through a series of setup screens, one of which would have had you create an admin account with an admin password.
If somebody else already did that when you picked it up, then you should call the store and ask them for the password as they must have set it.  Then, immediately change it to something you make up.
If you did not have the store set it up, then I'd suspect you did not actually get a brand new Mac?

  • My macbook pro decided to give a different res and a horizontal line follows my cursor (like a diagnostic mode or something) i have shutdown/restrted. Fixed the res but the cursor problem still exists any help please.

I was using my mac as normal and then my resultion on mr screen changed which i have fixed using the normal methods but i still continue on getting a horizontal line whereever my cursor is even after i have restarted and shut down. The line is a white colour but my other screens seem dulled wherever this line is not following it is not a solid white. It looks like its in a diagnostic mode or somthing. Any help would be appriciated, thanks.

It is possible there is a problem with the computer's graphics, but try a simple fix. viz. reset the NVRAM / PRAM.
    Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • My Macbook Pro (2011) has experienced a bing takeover and now will not initialize on certain photo websites.  Please help.

I have corrected the bing takeover issue (but I am not sure how exactly), but now I cannot access any photo printing websites.  I can pull up the websites, log in and proceed as normal.  Once I select the option I want to purchase (posters, for example), the page opens and a bar appears saying "initializing".  The progress stops here.  The initializing bar loads to about 85% and stops.  There is no activity whatsoever once it reaches this point.  I have tried this on several websites.  I have checked in preferences and I have no extensions active.  I am relatively new to mac and I am unsure of what to do.  Thanks in advance for any help.

    I have this question too.

  • Is it possible to connect a wireless keyboard so that it works automatically with either macbook pro or iPad depending on which is turned on or do I have to go through the delete one and re-pair the other process every time?

I was resetting my macbookpro 17 (early 2009) to factory settings but was indicating problems on the restore disk.  I erased my macintosh hd drive so the hd is empty.  What do I do next?

Get an external drive and make a clone of your internal, erase the internal, set it for 1 partition (OSX Journaled) and restore the clone.

  • Mid 2010 macbook pro that has sleeping issues

I have a mid 2010 macbook pro that has had problems sleeping and the screen goes randomly black but does not put the actual computer to sleep and you can still see and move the cursor. It seems like tons of people have had the same issue. I recently updated the software to mountain lion but it did not help. The problem is when I close the lid, it does not go to sleep and wastes tons of battery or goes black while i am working on it. HELP!

    Order a new battery.
