You have to take the Mac to the Apple store as soon as possible.
Best.

My macbook pro (2010 13inch) is really laggy when I'm using apps like iTunes and safari. the arrow on the screen seems to not respond and is laggy and when viewing videos it can be really laggy. I just want to know if it was a problem i could fix, thanks.
You might start with:
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder. Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu. Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order. If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time, then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar. Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process. See if that helps. Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
If the above reveals nothing helpful, then create a new user account. Log out of your account and log into the new account. Do the problems cease? -

Frequent aero crashes in Windows 7 - Macbook Pro 2010
Hi all,
has anyone come across this issue?
I have had continuous Aero crashes in my Windows 7 x64 installation and the new Macbook Pro 2010 with nvidia 330m.
During window resizing, video playback, aero and the whole desktop window manager will frequently crash. I have reinstalled twice the operating system, installed alternate nvidia forceware drivers (from laptopvideo2go.com) with no success.
When such a crash occurs the following error message is recorded in the Windows Event Log, Application category: 'The Desktop Window manager has encountered a fatal error'.
Any feedback will be appreciated.
Thanks
TheoI'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to paste over! Here's what happens to me. I've got 257.15 downloaded and extracted. Then I go here:
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/enhancer
I select driver version 257.15, set it for performance, select a number of different options on the page, most of which mean nothing to me, and download a ile named nv4_disp.inf. The problem is that I can't "replace" that file because that file doesn't exist in the driver installation folder. There are a lot of inf files, but none of them have that name.
I've tried to install directly from the generated inf file by selecting update driver on the display adapter, then going manually to the inf file. It works up to the point where it shows me the 330M as compatible hardware, but when I try to install it, it says it encountered an error while attempting to install it, "The system cannot find the file specified."
So what's up with my inf file? I'm thinking I'm doing something wrong there.
One thing that may complicate this is that I uninstalled and deleted the Boot Camp driver while following another set of instructions on how to fix this issue. Do I need to reinstall that driver, by chance? Then upgrade from that?
Any tips on how to recover and get back working again (preferably with updated less crash prone drivers!) would be hugely appreciated. I do development on Windows 7 and have been having a LOT of crash issues related to this! -
Weird Display issue MacBook Pro 2010 15"
Hey
i recently turned my MacBook pro on and after about ten minutes my display started to flicker some coloured lines until settling on this flickering:
I restarted, tried to see if any updates where avaiable neither of which helped,
I took a screen shot and emailed it to my partners Laptop and the lines wern't there, so i dont think it is a software problem.
i then shut down my laptop for the night and turned it on the next day and it was fine, about 40 minutes on it and it started flashing again but didnt go as bad as the previous day, It hasnt done it since but im slightly concerned as you can imagine.
Tech Tool Deluxe reports no problems at all.
I do have apple care but im out the country at the moment so not much i can do about it if things get worse, i will be taking it to get checked over when i return home in a month!
Has anyone had similar issues, or got any ideas as to what caused this?
Specs:
MacBook Pro 2010 I5 2.53Ghz 15"
8gb Crucial Memory Ram
Stock 500Gb 7200RPM Drive
Western Digital Scorpio Blue 640gb 5000RPM in Optibay
NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 256 MB graphics and built in cardI will have to when i get home in a month,
it hasn't done it for a while now so hopefully i can last out the month with out any serious problems, my main concern is the graphics going completly and me not being able to use my laptop at all! -
Kernal Panic Help with Macbook Pro 2010
Hello fellow Kernal Panic enthusiasts.
I've had random panics more frequently on a Macbook Pro 2010. I've tried correcting permissions, resetting PRAM etc. It seem to happen at random, sometimes with flash (which has been disabled by default) in Chrome. Other occasions its completely random when using the finder, etc. Chrome crashes frequently, and again at random. Same happens for Firefox and Safari – it seems to be whichever I am using most frequently There's no way to repeat the panic.
Thank you for the help/suggestions in advance.
Here's a copy of my log:

Pace is a copy protection software for some third party program your running, it's for Snow Leopard and this issue has appeared here before and once today even.
Quark Inc was here about their driver, so check them for a update.
Take note of the softwares above, your going to be reinstalling some of them from fresh sources and updating.
Run through the Steps 1-8 here and see if that solves your problem.
..Step by Step to fix your Mac
Disable all at login/boot softwares.
Yes some third party software mentioned above is not going to work as #8 Reinstall Just OS X will kick their parts out of OS X itself (but not out of Applications), but what you do is reinstall them one at a time, when it's been updated and verified to work with your OS X verison. (uninstall using the developers program or instructions, do not use AppDelete type software)
Take your time and if problems come back you know it's the last one installed is at fault.
The object with #1-8 is to make sure machine and OS X is fine, then decide from there what third party software is at fault.
If your problems continue despite the above software not being run or installed, then proceed with the further Steps #9-16 in the hunt for the real cause.
Chrome has been known to cause problems around here, it runs a root level updater for all Google software, it's hard to remove and one has to not use any Google software to prevent it being reinstalled.
Good luck in your process of elimination. -
OS X 10.10 MacBook Pro 2010 Mid
Hi all,
I had a old MacBook Pro 2010 Mid, 6,2 model
It is Intel HD and Nvidia 330M, and it still using old OS X ML
I look on the forum here
GPU Panic - OSX 10.9 Mavericks - Macbook PRO 6,2
see the GPU have problems on Mavericks..
I am wonder, do anyone here using this MacBook Pro, with OS 10.10.1 also experience this problems?
OR on newer OS X 10.9.5 this is fixed?
I ask for that is because want to upgrade to latest OS X or so. But before install hope know any problems will meet.
Thank you.

How to Solve Windows 8 Metro App Crash on Macbook Pro 2010 13"
There is a known problem
(See http://www.onebitzero.com/how-to-fix-metro-apps-from-crashing-under-nvidia-beta- driver-296-17-in-windows-8/ )
that many notebooks equipped with nVIDIA GPU and running Windows 8 will crash some Modern UI (Metro) apps,
including Game, Camera, Remote Desktop, ... apps.
My MacBook Pro 2010 13" has an nVIDIA GeForce 320M.
I installed Windows 8 Pro RTM gotten from DreamSpark Premium and Boot Camp Software 3.2 on my MacBook Pro.
Unfortunately, I met the Modern UI app crash problem.
I fought against this problem two days and almostly surrended.
Unbelievablely, I could solve it.
Yes. We can simply solve the crash problem by installing the latest 301.42 driver download from nvidia.com.
But it is not perfect: we will find we can't adjust the brightness anymore.
I also tried many methods, including modifies .inf files and change permissions but all are failed.
Except one for which I got an idea from Windows Event Viewer.
I found I got an error event when I launched the problematic Modern UI app. For example,
"Faulting application name: wwahost.exe, version: 6.2.9200.16384, time stamp: 0x50107c6e
Faulting module name: nvd3dumx.dll, version: 8.17.11.9682, time stamp: 0x4b884f8a"
(Attention! The following steps are at your risks.
Or you may not try it.)
The steps to solve the crash problem and simultanously preserve the brightness adjustment function are:
1. Download the latest 301.42 driver from nvidia.com. Then, click it to extract files to C:\
and we don't install it.
2. Copy the Boot Camp nVIDIA driver files from "13-inch MacBook Pro Mac OS X Install DVD,"
ie. this folder:
(DVD drive):\Boot Camp\Drivers\NVidia\Vista-Win7_64
3. Replace the older nvd3dumx.dl_ with the newer one.
I.e. overwrite
Boot Camp\Drivers\NVidia\Vista-Win7_64\nvd3dumx.dl_
by
C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\301.42\WinVista_Win7_64\International\Display.Driver\nvd 3dumx.dl_
4. Follow this tutorial to turn off driver integrity check:
http://www.killertechtips.com/2009/05/05/disable-driver-signing-windows-7/
and reboot.
5. Install the modified driver by clicking
Boot Camp\Drivers\NVidia\Vista-Win7_64\setup.exe
6. Reboot your computer and good luck. The method described above is too complex.
I found a more easy way to solve the Modern app crash problem.
That is to download the legacy driver 296.10 here
http://www.geforce.com/drivers/beta-legacy
Unfortunately, 296.10 and 19x don't solve all problems on Windows 8:

Macbook pro 2010 keeps crashing
hi,
it has been a good 2 weeks that my macbook pro 2010 13in keeps crashing. It can happen during games or even during light browsing. When it does occur i can hear the sound being looped in the backround. Ive brought it in to apple twice already and they cant seem to reproduce the problem. The temperature doesnt seem to be an issue because even light browsing 50C it crashes. I have to do a hard reset to get it working and sometimes it doesnt recognize my drive or the apple logo boots and after some time it has an O (nothing can load, kinda like no smoking signs with the barred cigarette). Occasionally it also has wifi problems, it disconects and does not reconnect unless i hard reset. All these problems also occur on the windows partition (same circumstances). Please i need some help because i have work and i cannot trust an unstable computer to do work on. (im also running on 10.9) crashes only started after i updated but only on the windows side first.Anonymous UUID: 348BD448-8577-0AE8-0BA8-6C14CFDC0112

Cleaning Macbook pro 2010 keyboard, soda spill 2 years ago.
Hey guys. So around two years ago my kid spilled soda on my Macbook Pro 2010 model, and I never bothered cleaning it since I wasn't using it much. Now it's 2 years later and I'm using it often and it's all spongy and sticky, the Macbook still works perfectly fine and all the keys work okay it's just sticky. Can anyone recommend a method of cleaning them? Thanks a lot.
The keys on these Macs are comprised of 5 or 6 moving parts: the black cap that has the extruded letter or symbol, a translucent body that has a number of snaps, a two-piece scissors mechanism made of white plastic, a silicone rubber "cup" and in some, a stainless steel wire guide. All snap together onto the body and onto metal guides on the printed circuit on the Mac itself. around the microswitch that's nestled inside the rubber "cup". That cup's springiness is what pushes the key back out. Awhile back, one "leg" on the scissor of my left Caps Lock broke off and the key proceeded to pop like a Mexican Jumping Bean. Apple said it was "cosmetic damage", "not covered by warranty" and they would kindly repair it after I plopped $800 and waited while they replaced the entire top case (whole chassis, including keyboard and trackpad), for ONE FRIGGIN KEY. Needless to say, I purchased a collection of keys (5 for the price of 4; needed 1, but I'm sure another eventually will die and wanted to make the cost of the product bigger than the cost of shipping!) from replacementlaptopkeys.com, watched a couple of YouTube videos (like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TawSCmb08tM&feature=g-hist ) and got the Mac back in working order 15 minutes after the postman showed up and I feverishly tore the envelope open.
So I can tell you with full confidence that the only way to get that clean is by lifting the caps. Yeah, that will make the AppleCare guys most unhappy. And yeah, I'm sure more than one of the keycaps will get damaged in the process and require replacement. At $4.95 a pop, with discounts if you break many, just make sure to order the correct type; my Late '11 MBP has type AC01.

Hello,
In the market for a macbook pro without NVIDIA.
Does premiere pro run on a macbook pro without NVIDIA?
Also i read Premiere has problems to run with the new update? It seems to block and freeze...better to install version without update ?
ThanksTerms of use forbid us from discussing Apple policy. Obviously Apple has made some decisions regarding which GPU they believe will sell best. http://www.apple.com/feedback/ is where you can offer your suggestions.
As for game capability, I've always found that high end games, when they say a specific GPU they mean they will only accept that GPU and no subsitutes. I would contact the game developer to enquire if they have tested the game on that machine, or check the Mac gaming community links on my FAQ*:
http://www.macmaps.com/macgamepages.html
A few game developers are smart enough to offer a software emulator mode of the GPU that isn't too slow for machines that lack a specific GPU. Ages ago, John Madden 2000 did that on Mac OS 9. Only that emulator failed miserably when running in the Classic environment within Mac OS X. But it does say that a smart enough developer can make a GPU independent game software that will still play back video in good speeds. Sometimes they depend on other video codecs that are GPU dependent. Silverlight for instance from Microsoft has had to keep up with Mac OS X to run Netflix streaming steady. When you don't update it, problems start happening. Adobe Flash, also needs to keep up too. I wouldn't be surprised if the Steam software engine has also run into issues when not coded properly for a specific operating system. So before you update, make sure the game has been tested with the update in question. -

Hi mzantop,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
So you get no video or startup chimes but do hear clicks from your MacBook Pro.

some 15-inch Mid 2010 MacBook Pros are known to have a defect in their NVIDIA GPUs; since your crash report shows a GPU panic, yours may be one of them. Apple had a gratis servicing program for this defect which lasted for three years from the original date of purchase. The servicing is still available, but it is no longer guaranteed to be gratis. -
Macbook pro 2010 Graphics issue
I have a macbook pro 2010 which has the dreaded graphics swathing issue which causes random restarts all the time. This was a issue with this model and trying to charge me £500 to get fixed LOL. My question is i just heard they are doing free fixes for certain issues will this issue be covered..????
Not on a 2010. The program for your MBP has expired. The new program is for 2011 models and some latewr.
What you may try is installing the following:
https://gfx.io/
This will allow you to disable the discrete GPU and run only on the integrated one. there will be a loss in graphics performance.
Ciao.
