Macbook pro 2011 has faint green light. won't turn on. what is the issue?

I've had this problem twice and both times I've gone to the genius bar they've plugged it in and pressed a few buttons and it's working fine. It's a 2011 macbook pro 13 inch. Has a faint green and flickering orange light on the charger. I've tried resetting the SMC and the basic troubleshooting steps. I'm tired of going to the genius bar for a 5 minute fix. I can't turn it back on after it suddenly shuts off. Power button is not responding. It was updated and working fine. Im a student and can't afford to have this problem every week. What is the issue?

Just face facts - if water (or any other liquid) reached you logic board or any other electronic components, you're going to be the victim of corrosion.
Eventually, you'll need to have the logic board replaced. There are liquid sensors all over your MBP and the techs can tell if these have been activated. I wouldn't turn the computer on at all - if it were me, I would take it to your local Apple Store/AASP and get an estimate for repair. Rice & other desiccates may 'dry up' the liquid, but it won't undo the damage already done.

  • Macbook Pro charger has dim green light

My macbook pro (late 2009) model has a dim green light on the charger. I took the back panel off, unplugged the battery from the motherboard, plugged in the charger, the turn on chime sounded. I unplugged the charger, plugged the battery back in and the computer came back on.
My problem is that its sitting on a 0% charge and the charger still has a dim green light! Help!!!

    Hello PcktRckt37,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
I'd like you to reset the SMC as is outlined in the article below to try and resolve this issue of your battery not charging correctly.

  • MacBook Pro 2011 not charging green light on charger

Bought my MacBook Pro early 2011, really took care of it, no problem till now. Was using it last night as usual and when plug in the charger this morning there's green light but not charging, usually when charging its orange, the battery level on the side is one green light blinking. Its completely dead and I can't power on. I found a way to power on the machine (press power button for 10sec and plug in charger while keep holding the power button for another 10sec) it powers on using AC but now the battery is not detected and no blinking light on the side and theres X icon on the battery! Have done SMC reset and all still no fix! found this somewhere on the net, apparently to bring dead batteries back to life we have to charge it with 85w charger, is it true? I mean if its true I don't mind getting a new 85w charger, or do I have to change a new battery since it's 3++ years old? Pls Pls Pls I need help big time..

Hi Ralph, thank you for responding.. I used to see those information like, condition, cycle count, etc before, but now its not showing up probably the battery is not detected. Any ideas? Thanks again..

Apple replaced my hard drive (macbook pro 2011). Now I am unable to buy/download ilife from the apple store "on this computer". Any ideas as to why?
Thanks for your help in advance!

If the computer shipped with Snow Leopard then you would have received an install DVD for iLife with the computer.

    Sounds like a hardware fault...

  • TS1367 My charger connects with my macbook with a very faint green light (not the normal orange light) and can maintain the computer turned on but does not charge the battery.

My charger connects with my computer with a very faint green light (not the normal orange light) and can maintain the computer turned on but does not charge the battery. The power source to keep it on is the power adapter and that it's "Not charging" on the battery settings. And my charger seems to charge other computers fine.
The part of my mac where the adapter (L-shaped, magnetic) attaches is a bit damaged - a small piece of the white case/body around the part where the adapter attaches is broken off, but that's just an outer damage.
I don't know what's wrong with my computer, and if anyone has had a similar experience or knows what's going on, it'd be tremendously helpful!
    Thank you!!

    Hi Christopher,
Doubtful an upgrade would fix a hardware issue. If you are thinking of upgarding to Lion, best to do all necessary maintenance first.

  • Hi I have a MacBook Pro 2011 i7 and it stays on for about 4 hours then the screen go's fuzzy and I have to turn it off by the power button has anyone had this problem thanks mike

I Have a MacBook Pro i7 2011 it stays on for about 4 hours then the screen go's all fuzzy and I have to turn it off by the power button has any body else had this problem thanks mike

My guess would also be a failling connection between your logicboard and your GPU. See 2011 MacBook Pro and Discrete Graphics Card
For most users it starts with some random crashes and freezes like you describe it. And then it just gets worse and worse. There are still no "good" solutions, sadly. This is a hardware problem from the production.

  • Macbook Pro 17" has Snow leopard light?

    Hi,
I was just wondering how come the new macbook pro 17" can have support for 8gb of ram?
As I understand it, Snow Leopard will be able to handle much stronger component in the future. Does the new macbook pro have some kind of new software support for the new components in the computer?
It all boils down to the question: How can the New Macbook Pro 17" have 8gb of ram?
    Kind Regards,
    Stephan

No. Snow Leopard is not yet released. The limitation on MacBook RAM on previous models was a product of the particular Intel notebook chipset being used, not the operating system. You've been able to order Mac Pros with Leopard for quite some time now... The feature of Snow Leopard is not that it's a 64-bit OS, Leopard is that, it's that all of the 32-bit libraries (Frameworks) are now 64-bit.
Leopard has always been capable of addressing more than 4G of RAM.
Newer MacBooks now use a different Intel laptop chipset that supports more memory, that's all. The hardware is new.

  • Macbook pro will not charge, green light stay on.

today it ran out of charge and ive plugged the charger in, but it doesnt seem to charge. The light on the charger did not turn from green to orange, it stayed green. It has been like that for about 30 minutes now. The computer will not turn on when I press the power button.

    Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Choose the method for:

If this does not help, contact Apple.

  • Macbook Pro (2011) has rattling audio?

The other night, my Macbook Pro had the back left corner of the lid dented in slightly because it fell off my bed. Besides that, I didn't notice anything else wrong with it. However, just last night, I noticed that my audio starts to rattle a bit when turned up to about 60 - 70%. Thankfully, it's not always constant, but when the audio hits a certain level of volume is when it becomes most noticable.
Does anyone know what might be wong with it? One time, I did give the Macbook a few taps on its bottom, and to my surpise, it actually cleared it up for a little while. However, it did come back.
I'm digressing a bit here, but does anyone know how much it would cost to fix a dent on a Macbook Pro's shell?

I dont have enought experence about the mac just use it in 2 weeks , thats why i dont know , i call the guy but he using fake phone number like freeapp something he not pick up the phone So sad now ...
Do you think this is a virus or what .. i cant do anything right now ... when i open the macbook it cant do anything on it ... I cant even Use command : " Option " key or anything like that !
