Macbook Pro 2012 keeps dying/losing battery when closed and not plugged in.
My 2012 13 in Pro just recently started doing this. Most of the time I keep my laptop plugged in but just two nights ago when I unplugged it to go to sleep and shut the lid completely, when I went to wake it up the next morning the battery was dead both times. My battery cycle is still normal for the notebook's age. What is the problem?

HT4199 My Macbook Pro 2012 keeps dropping wifi every now and then, any suggestions?
I have Macbook Pro 2012, since purchase, it keeps dropping wifi connection. I have other apple and non-apple devices those does not have this issue. Any suggestions?
I have the same problem. I had the issue with mac osx 10.8.2 and after updating to 10.8.3 it still drops the wifi connection constantly. It is so annoying and other devices (e.g. my iPhone 5 works fine). I have a 2012 MacBook Pro retina. Hope anybody has a solution

I have a MacBook Pro 2012 running Mountain Lion 10.7.5. I've been trying to get the mirroring icon to show up in the bar but no dice. Any tips? I've gone into System Preferences -> Display and there is no option to turn on mirroring.
Welcome to the Apple Community maricespieces.
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). You can see which Mac you have and which operating system you are using by selecting 'About this Mac' from the Apple menu in the top left corner of your Mac and selecting the 'More Info' button. -

Two of those reports were panics with Sophos as the only item in the backtrace. You don't seem to know how to read panic logs, so I'll have to point out that this is the only confirmation you will ever get that a particular kernel extension caused the panic.
And you can absolutely rule out a hardware problem or corrupted system based solely on the fact that a Sophos kext is in the installed kext list?
You yourselfwrote in that thread:
Linc and many others are of the opinion that you should absolutely never install commercial anti-virus software, such as Sophos. ... Certainly, your experience would seem to indicate that there's some truth to that.
Indeed I did. That was back when ML was new, and there had been a couple reports I saw complaining of problems with Sophos. It was too early to tell whether there was a compatibility problem, but it was easily possible. Nothing ever materialized, that I have seen, since then.
Let me ask you this, though: have you ever actually tested any of them?
Of course not [...] I tell people to remove it, and when they do, their problem is solved. That's all the testing I need to do.
You've gotten enough feedback to take this from anecdotal to statistically significant? If so, those findings would be worth documentation. If not, you can't be 100% sure that there wasn't something wrong with the Sophos install, the system or the hardware.
Now, don't get me wrong... I'm not trying to claim that Sophos won't ever cause problems and can't conflict with anything else. No software is ever perfect, and all kernel extensions run the potential risk of conflicting with other third-party kernel extensions or causing other problems. However, based on my testing as well as reports that I have received, I see no reason to condemn Sophos in such an absolute manner. It is one of the best-behaved anti-virus apps that uses kernel extensions, in my experience. If I were going to recommend anti-virus software for someone (which would depend on many factors, such as that user's sophistication, work environment, home environment, use patterns, etc), Sophos would be one I would recommend.
Not once, to my knowledge, has it ever saved anyone from a malware infection
You have documentation of that, do you? -
New Macbook Pro 2012 keeps freezing (HELP!!)
It keeps freezing, it happens after a few hours, sometimes after a few minutes!!
First, the app (google chroome, safari, skype) and then, the finder... I can move the cursor but it doesn't respond, the beach ball won't stop spinning and I had to force shut down by holding the power button (not once...two, three or four times a day)
I've done everything, disk utility almost every day (repair permissions), resetting the pram... I don't know what else to do... I was thinking about buying 8GB RAM (2x 4) but I don't want to waste my money if it's not going to work...

Macbook Pro (2012) keeps restarting
Hi,
My MacBookPro 9,2 (Mid-2012) has recently begun to restart itself numerous times throughout the day and present the "Your computer restarted due to an error" screen when re-booting. I was wondering if anyone would be able to steer me towards a resolution to this error?
Many thanks in advance.

I would recommend taking your machine to your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them run diagnostics on the machine as I doubt that the Apple Hardware Test is robust enough to find any faults.
You haven't replaced the RAM that originally shipped with the machine have you? The kernal panic doesn't really seem to indicate a RAM problem (although it could be the problem - just not so obvious).

Macbook Pro (2012) keeps crashing
My new macbook pro (one month old) keeps crashing. I think I get a kernel panic, but I'm not sure. My "crashreporter" folder is empty despite my macbook having crashed several times, and I don't know why this is. But this time I copied the crash report details directly from the popup window and pasted it into the text editor. Can anyone please tell me what the problem is? Is it hardware or software, and what do I have to do? I run the latest version of Mountain Lion (and I have Windows 7 installed via bootcamp, but the crashes seem to only happen in mountain lion). This is what the crash report looks like:

Macbook Pro 2012 10.8.2 battery life *****!
Good Afternoon Everyone.
This week I notice my macbook pro battery life run out of juice very quickly. Yesterday start it using it at evelenish at 50% at 12:30 was down to 7%. Today, well right now It was at 99% I'm 15 minutes into using battery down to 85%, why is my battery dying incredibly fast? Can I get tips on battery saving?
Thanks, Have a nice superbowl sunday everyone.Runaway applications can shorten battery runtime, affect performance, and increase heat and fan activity

Macbook Pro just ran out of battery, when I tried to boot up it cannot locate the HDD.
So as stated above I mistakenly left my Macbook Pro on and it ran out of battery. When I tried to power it back on again it just goes to the folder and question mark logo. What happened? Did I kill the hard drive ?
Let it charge overnight.

My macbook pro retina is experiencing random shutdowns. I reformatted my macbook pro but before that, I have windows 7 bootcamp on my macbook together with mac os mountain lion. So, I reformatted and installed OS Mountain Lion, but the installation is not working well as it keeps on shutting down halfway. Please help!
jterng,
did you use OS X Internet Recovery to reïnstall Mountain Lion onto your MacBook Pro? -
Macbook Pro Retina Display shuts down at 20% battery when it's not plugged in.
See above.
I've tried the ideas listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964, including resetting the SMC.

I'd like to add snow leopard to my macbook pro which runs leopard 10.5.8 in order to run apps. I do not want to mess with my original system and risk losing data. Is that possible by just going to utilities and partioniong my drive?
15 is probably enough. And if you kept your home dir in a separate volume then you could use your same home dir on both leopard and snow leopard. This is one of the reasons I recommend keeping the home dir on a separate volume. Very convenient for switching OS's or needing to use a (backup) copy of the current OS.

I bought a Macbook 2 weeks ago, in the first week one of the keys broke off so I went to the Apple store and they replaced the whole thing for me. I was asked if I wanted to swap the hard drive for my old one and I said yes just to save myself time, even though my hardrive is completely empty- I havent downloaded any programs, saved any pictures etc.
Now my start up time on this new Macbook has pretty much doubled - its a blank lit-up screen for a long time before the apple and log in bar appears - has any one else had this problem? This didn't happen on my old one!first - go to system preferences - startup disk and select your hard drive as the startup drive....restart your macbook....
if that doesn't do it, open disk utility and verify your disk permissions - repair them if errors are found....once the repair is done, restart your macbook...
see if the above sorts outs your issues....
good luck -
For the past few days my mac has started to play adverts, just the sounds. It usually starts after ive been on the internet for a while, and it won't stop when I close safari. The only way to get it to stop is to shut my mac down completely. I deleted all my cookies and incresed security but that hasn't helped.
Pull the question marks off the Dock and let go, drag new icons of the app down to the Dock from the Applications folder.
Try another restart in Recovery command R.
Run the DiskUtility repair disk and repair permissions
