Macbook pro 2012 shuts down right after start up!

macbook pro 2012 shuts down right after start up. I tried the recovery mode but disk doctor cannot repair Mac osX hard drive. This is the second time that I have to format hard drive and install agin all applications. please advise!

I am not familiar with "disk doctor" but if you used Disk Utility to repair or reformat the hard disk, and it failed again, it is very likely the drive itself needs to be replaced. It cannot be repaired.
If Disk Utility cannot repair a hard disk it definitely needs replacement.
All 2012 MacBook Pro models are less than a year old and therefore covered under Apple's standard one year warranty. Have them fix it.

  • My Macbook pro keeps shutting down right after I log in. The power cord seems to be fine, so I think the computer has enough power. Right after logging in, it shows a grey background with a loading bar that loads only 1/4. Then it shuts down.

I have had my Macbook Pro since 2011 and it has been great until now. Suddenly, I can no longer get past the grey screen just after I log in. The grey screen appears with a loading bar, and the bar get 1/4 of the way complete, then the computer shuts off. My power cord seems to be working fine because this problem still occurred after using another power cord (from another Macbook). Keyboard does not light up, and the small green lights on the left side of the computer do not light up (this is an older version and these light indicate how charged the computer is). It is using the OS X Yosemite and recently had total clearing of the hard drive as it was transferring from one owner to another, so the hard drive isn't nearly full enough to be causing this problem. I've never run into this problem before with other Macbooks.
    Help!

Hi. When you were in the recovery drive doing permissions, did you try and run a repair of the boot drive? Did you try single user mode? Try these first and then go back and try to reinstall the operating system. When I say repair boot drive I don't mean permissions. There are both options in disk utilities. When you open disk utilities ,you will see in the left column  two drives plus possibly  a boot partition that look like an external driv. click on the second drive and in first aid use repair disk. If you still can't boot and it will not let you restore, you may have to do a clean install.   http://support.apple.com/kb/PH18869?viewlocale=en_US

  • MacBook Pro keeps shutting down immediately after startup chime

I booted into Windows 7 on my boot camp partition and was about to play Dirt 3 for the 1st time.  I was in the options menu of the game and my MacBook Pro just shut down/turned off instantly.
I turned back on, holding in Option so I could boot into Windows again, but the computer just turned off immediately after the startup chime.  I turned on again, this time I didn't hold in Option, so I could boot into OS X (my default startup volume) and the same thing happened - MBP shut down immediately after the startup chime.  I tried again, same thing.  I tried again, and this time it booted fine into OS X, and all seems ok.
    Any idea what's going on?

  • Mac book shuts down right after start up

my macbook shuts off after initial start up

Assuming no issues with power adapter or power source, do an SMC and PRAM reset. If those don't work, take it in to Apple for service.
    SMC:
    Shut down the computer.
    Unplug the computer's power cord.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM:
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Apps shut down right after start

I regularly run into the same problem. When I start any 3rd party app, it starts, shows a black screen and immediately returns to the main screen. After it has happened once, it happens with all 3rd party apps, but all native iPhone applications still work.
I found a way to fix it: I have to download a new application from appstore or uninstall and re-install an existing application.
The problem is that this issue comes up regularly and is definitely annoying... I have not found a specific pattern when it occurs, but I would say every 3rd time I try to open an application.
Any idea what the problem is and how it can be fixed?
    my config:
    iPhone 3G
    OS 2.2 (5G77)
    14.6GB RAM available - 11.4GB free
    iTunes 8.0.2
    Thanks!

    niefl,
Have you tried the troubleshooting steps in article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1702 ?
If those do not resolve the issue, you can try restoring your iPhone, choosing to set it up as a new phone when the process completes (this is an option that appears once the restore process is finished, accompanied by an option to "Restore from backup").

  • Macbook pro unexpectedly shut down after an usb plug in

My macbook pro unexpectedly shut down after an usb plug in, and it won't turn back on. Please help!

I have this problem also. The only way to get the computer to turn back on is to open the bottom and disconnect the battery then reconnect. I have found similar problems across the web, some people seem to fix the issue by resetting the SMC, but that doesn't do anything for me.

  • My MacBook Pro keeps shutting down before I can even start it up, what do i do?

My MacBook Pro keeps shutting down when the loading-circle appears at start-up. I can only log on to my Bootcamp Windows mode. When i try to format Mac (via command+R) i'm told i'm not allowed to since the disks are locked - Mac is administrator, and obviously I'm not logged in. What do I do?

    Try a SMC reset.

  • Since I've loaded the creative cloud my MacBook Pro keeps shutting down.  Need suggestions.

SInce I loaded the creative cloud software my MacBook Pro keeps shutting down. Is there a reason for this?

There is not one specific program that it shuts down in, random shut downs and I could be in an Adobe application or another program. It may be be a coincidence, but my shut downs seems to have started after I installed Adobe's Creative Cloud.  Apple now has my laptop exploring what may be causing my issues. Their first reaction was that it could be some sort of software conflict.  I'm waiting on their diagnosis.

  • Final Cut Express Shuts down right after capturing

    Hello all:
I am using FCE 3.5. I have used this for about a year now and I have developed a problem with FCE shutting down right after I hit escape. I run a lab for a university and it is doing it on ALL of them so it isn't an isolated incident. I repair permissions, reset the PRAM, trashed the prefs and I don't know what else to do.
I am running imac G5's using 10.4.11 and the new imacs running leopard. Both sets are doing it.
Any help would be appreciated since our classes start soon.
    Thank you.

Can you tie the crashes to a recent event: a software update, a new piece of hardware? What else is connected to the computers?
(You have, of course, triple-checked that the FCE Easy Setup matches the footage you're capturing, yes?)
After the program crashes, is the captured footage saved?
What's the lab setup? Does each student have an individual user account? On each computer?
    Lots of questions, I know...
    Here's a suggestion:
Use Disk Utility to repair permissions. Create a new admin account on one computer. Set the FCE Scratch Disk to the internal drive. Disconnect everything but the camera. Try to capture. See what happens.

My MacBook Pro recently shut down on me all of a sudden. When I restarted it, it popped up with a gray box with 'OS X Utilities,' then listed various options such as 1. restore from time machine backup, 2. reinstall OS X, 3. get help online and 4. disk utility. what do I do now? I have not backed up to Time Machine in a few days, so I'm not sure I should restore from time machine backup, is there something else I can do? Help!

    Guitar21,
your MacBook Pro has booted into its Recovery mode. From the OS X Utilities menu, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Does it get to the login screen now?

  • Macbook pro wont shut down without holding the power button nor cycle for updates to restart.

macbook pro wont shut down without holding the power button nor cycle for updates to restart

Sorry I said sorta wrong. I can shut down and I can update to the point of restart but it just sat for 45 minutes after an update. It goes through the update and to restart then the bars chase each other in a circle and it never restarts. So I hit the power button and go through normal reboot but loosing the update in the process. It does not matter how long I wait for a natural reboot after an update or click to restart it will chase the little bar in circles all day literally and never reboot.

what do I do when my macbook pro just shuts down and when I plug my charger in, it faintly blinks green and yellow and doesnt charge?

    Hi aaliyafrommarkham,
In order to troubleshoot this, I would recommend that you start with an SMC reset. Information on this procedure can be found here:

MacBook Pro just shut down without notice. It had about 40% of the battery life. It will not turn back on and I noticed when plugged in the little light on the power cord is blinking orange, not a solid green like normal.  Anyone have this issue before?  I've only had this for about 3mos.  I called apple support. They tried one thing then said I have to take to the apple store. Unfortunately I don't have one nearby. So before I travel an hour+ away I thought is give it a shot on here. Thank.

Did they have you try an SMC Reset: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964?
