MacBook Pro 2013 windows 7 can't find USB

Hi, i have a problem installing Windows 7 on my new MacBook Pro 13" 2013.
Here's what i did before it goes wrong.
I made an .iso file from original Windows 7 DVD, ran BootCamp and chose the option to install the .iso file on a USB stick (8GB 3.0), installed Windows drivers on the same stick, partioned my drive (40 some gigs). Then the computer reboots and Windows installation progresses until it want to use the drivers installed on the USB stick. It seems it can't find the USB stick? I've tried to use another USB stick, and changing USB ports, but nothing.
Does anybody have a take on what could be wrong?

You won't be able to connect your iPhone to your computer via Bluetooth. It's not supported.

I can't see any reason that you would need it... Just let it create it's own connection.

  • MacBook PRO 2011 - Windows 7 - Can select HD graphics?

    Dear all,
I'm considering purchasing a MacBook PRO 2011 17" model (for the hardware, not for OSX, sorry). I want to run Windows 7 on it (not virtualized).
I did see from the Boot Camp description that Boot Camp provides drivers for both the Intel HD and the AMD graphics card. I'm not concerned with automatic graphics switching, since I won't be using it for gaming.
Since I'm going to be travelling by train quite a bit and want to be able to do my work en route, I would like to know if I will be able to select the integrated Intel graphics under Windows 7 (x64), or if I'm forced to use the AMD graphics.
    Thanks in advance.

AMD only. Graphics switching does not function under Windows 7 and the discrete AMD GPU is the one that is active. As the switching is not done via nVidia's Optimus technology, there is not a standard driver package that you can install that will achieve this (AMD/ATI's Catalyst package does not have GPU switching capabilities). Either Apple or a third party would need to develop and support this.

  • Where can I purchase Macbook pro logic board(I can't find my model on Ebay)

Hi all, Im from Croatia, Europe, and I'm trying to buy the logic board for my Macbook pro that died recently. I've been to Apple reseler here and they are asking too much 1300$ for repair. The model of my logic board is 820-2101-A. Does anyone knows where can I buy it for less than 500$. I tried ebay, there is no my model. Thanks!

There is a knowing issue on NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT. It might cause be the problem of your logic board.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377
Btw, go check with Apple store or service if you can. Might help you save money.
I have a problem with my macbook pro 15" which bought around June 2007.I believe logic board is bad. Take to store and they quote $310 to fix MBP if the problem is not cause by video issue or free if it cause by video issue. Hope this info can help you.

  • Macbook Pro 10.6.5 can't find my LCD-tv

    Hello!
I'm having issues connecting my Macbook Pro to my LG-LCd with this update.
It works well with update 10.6.2 but not:
    10.6.3
    10.6.4
    and now 10.6.5
The screen does flash in light blue on MB as it usually does when it is connected but I get no picture on the tv. The Mac acts like nothing apart from that.
Anyone else having a similar issue?

I think this is a continuing problem with the drivers for the lower spec graphics chip on the MacBook Pro and other systems. I have the same problem with a 20" LG monitor when my MacBook Pro is set for 'Better battery life' in the Energy Saver prefs. This energy setting makes the MacBook Pro use the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor. However, if you switch to the higher spec graphics chip by setting the Energy Saver to 'Higher Performance' and logout and back in again, it'll switch to using the better NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics processor instead. With the higher spec graphics processor selected, I find the problem goes away!
It looks like 10.6.2 was the last version of Snow Leopard that has decent driver software for the lower spec NVIDIA GeForce 9400M. Even the recent 10.6.5 doesn't seem to have this working properly!
    Regards
    Peter

  • On MacBook Pro, in iPhoto, I can't find the "DON  In MacBook Pro where do I find the "DONE" button to save my editing changes and revert back to my library.

In MacBook Pro, where is the "DONE" button to save my editing changes and revert back to the iphoto library?

If you're using the Adjust editing pane there is no Done button. When you done with the editing just click on the Photos button at the top or use one of the arrows at the top to advance to the next photo.  No done button required.

  • MacBook Pro 2013 (new one) making a bootable USB..

    ok
i just replaced my old 2008 MacBook Pro with this brand spanking new. Im new to these flash drives (used to the old school hard drives, when you had a bootable physical disc to troubleshoot). Well i thought i found online how to do it (make a bootable drive on a USB flash drive) but that seems not to be working. I following the instructions to use Terminal (which ive used before on the old machine) but it seems not to be working right.
Some how im thinking that since it came pre-installed, this method isnt working...since i cant download the installer from the APP Store.
    please help, thanks

Did you do something with your Applications folder, like rename it, or move it?
Look in the Applications folder, and if you see the Mavericks installer (it's named Install OS X Mavericks), delete it.
Go to the link in my post above. If you click on "Upgrade now", it should take you to the App Store.
Do you have something like Little Snitch installed, that is blocking outgoing network traffic?
When I click on that link, the App store looks like this:
Click on the Download button (See the red arrow)
Then you would wait for the download to complete, put in your 8 GB flash drive, and run DiskMaker X.

  • Macbook Pro Core 2 Duo Can't Find Extreme n Base Station

Just got a new MBP Core 2 Duo today and it doesn't find my base station. I have a Win XP machine and an iMac working fine on the station. I installed the Airport Utility that came with the Extreme n, but still no luck.
I ran the Airport Setup Assistant to see if I could connect that way. If finds my network, but then when I continue to see if I can modify it, it doesn't display my network. Very bizarre.

Nevermind. I don't know how or why, but I started the Setup Assistant again and it found everything and now I'm getting to the internet. I've been messing with this for an hour and something that makes no sense seems to have fixed my problem.
    Thanks.

  • Macbook pro 2013 can't find hard drive to reinstall OS X?

A couple days ago, my 750gb HDD for my macbook pro 2013 failed so I replaced it with a 1TB seagate HDD and I ran an internet recovery however when I go to reinstall OS X, it asks to select the disk to install to but provides no options. I checked disk utility and it said the disk was verified and it was formatted to "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" as it should be so I don't know what the problem is. Please help.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You have to format the SSD before installing Mac OS X. Start in Internet Recovery holding Command, Option (Alt) and R keys while your computer is starting.
Then, open Disk Utility, look at the sidebar and see if the SSD is listed. If so, choose it, go to Erase tab and format it with "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". Finally, close Disk Utility and install OS X.
If you don't see your SSD in Disk Utility, make sure that everything is connected properly. If everything is connected properly, you can try connecting the old hard disk and see if it's detected. If not, it's possible that you have damaged something, so take your MacBook Pro to an Apple Store or reseller. If it's detected, I recommend you to return your SSD and get a different SSD

Good morning I am confronting serious problems with my Macbook pro 2013, that is runing to slow,  even when I am writing this email is running with some kind of delay. I upgraded the memories to 8gb but still running slow . Please let me know what I can do to solve the problem. Thanks in advance. Fernando

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to gather information about the state of your computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it on this page. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the request of a stranger on a public message board. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed: Copy a line of text from this web page into the window of another application. Wait for the script to run. It usually takes a couple of minutes. Then paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page. The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking  anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in your browser, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    PATH=/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin; clear; Fb='%s\n\t(%s)\n'; Fm='\n%s\n\n%s\n'; Fr='\nRAM details\n%s\n'; Fs='\n%s: %s\n'; Fu='user %s%%, system %s%%'; PB="/usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c Print"; A () { [[ a -eq 0 ]]; }; M () { find -L "$d" -type f | while read f; do file -b "$f" | egrep -lq XML\|exec && echo $f; done; }; Pc () { o=`grep -v '^ *#' "$2"`; Pm "$1"; }; Pm () { [[ "$o" ]] && o=`sed '/^ *$/d; s/^ */   /' <<< "$o"` && printf "$Fm" "$1" "$o"; }; Pp () { o=`$PB "$2" | awk -F'= ' \/$3'/{print $2}'`; Pm "$1"; }; Ps () { o=`echo $o`; [[ !     Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign ($) or a percent sign (%). If you get the percent sign, enter
    exec bash
in the window and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know your password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line "[Process completed]" to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report your results. No harm will be done.
    8. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If it happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Can I install Snow Leopard on MacBook Pro 2013

Can I install Snow Leopard on my new MacBook Pro 2013. I'm so tired of the UGLY grey icons. I keep thinking that the mail or iPhoto window is not the active one because everything is grey.  I use Snow Leopard on my 27inch iMac and love it. Nice RED delete button for mail, etc. Thanks

Firmware restrictions prevent directly loading any OSX earlier than what came with the system.
The *only* way around is to load SnowLeopard *Server* (not Client) into a virtual machine (Parallels, VMWare Fusion, VirtualBox).  But that costs $20+shipping/tax for the disk and is a learning curve into SL Server.  And you *still* need your host OSX to run it, and the VM will not most efficiently use the hardware resources.

It all depends on what your useage of Windows will be, for playing games install it in BootCamp, for word processing, spreadsheets, email. browsing etc a virtual Machne will be fine.

Office for Mac, http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products, can open/edit/create Office documents. If your external drive is formatted NTFS then you can copy the Office documents to your computer and work on them. You won't be able to save the files back to your NTFS formatted drive. But you will be able to save the documents to your internal drive. You can move all the external files to your internal drive then format the external drive for Apple. Then you can copy the files back to your external drive for ongoing use.
