Macbook pro 4gb 2.3Ghz core i5, os X 10.6.8 blocked plug ins/have checked safari settings

using macbook pro Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  blocked plug ins mean I cannot access needed info./have checked settings on Safari.  Where check next?

I checked and rechecked whatever I could think of to check.  I have the security updates for my system and that got me to adobe and java.  I redid adobe flash and before downloading rechecked specs to be sure I'd been correct earlier and crossed my fingers and downloaded/installed it again.  So far, the multiple "blocked plug in" signs have retreated.  I thank you very much both for the help and especially the support--I'm not so hot at trying the unknown (for me) on a computer even now!  Am saving this for future use should I need it again.

  • Want to upgrade RAM on 2011 Macbook pro 13 2.3GHz i5 4GB

    Hello all,
First of all let me thanks you guys for the support you have been giving here.
I am new to the forum and this is my first post, I recently bought the new 2011 Macbook pro 13inch 2.3GHz Dual-core Intel Core i5 with the 4GB RAM (4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM-2x2GB)
I want to upgrade from 4 GB to 8GB. I have researched this issue and found three suitable options, i need help deciding on which to buy. Any good brand or compatibility issues
I really appreciate your help guys. The links

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
I'd worry a little bit about Newegg's "Limited warranty."
OWC is fully warranted — no iffy "limited" on it.
You can use OWC's rebate form to turn in your current RAM and get $26 refunded if you buy the upgrade from them.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/tech_center/support/rebates/memory.cfm
This would bring the price down to $86.99, but no free shipping, and, presumably, it would cost you shipping to send the modules to them in order to collect the rebate, too.
I'd want to know the details of that "Limited" warranty if buying from Newegg.

  • Stock RAM Configuration for 15" MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

    Hello,
I have a new 15" MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo on it's way to me and I need to order a RAM upgrade. I know the specifications of what I need, but am getting conflicting information from the retailer on how the stock models are configured for RAM. The total amount is 2GHz. Does anyone know if this amount is provided by one or two RAM modules?

You'll find the RAM is in a 2 x 1GB configuration. Unfortunately they both need to come out for you to upgrade to 4GB RAM in a 2 x 2GB configuration. Still cheaper than going with Apple which makes it a little softer.

  • Macbook pro 15inch 2.3ghz and 2.5ghz

so im planning on buying a top spec macbook pro for refurbished and i looked at two macbook pros: one at $2099 and the other at almost $2000. the only difference between those two was that 2099 one had a 2.5 ghz and 2000 one had a 2.3 ghz. i dont really know what that means but my question is, is it worth paying 100 more dollars for .2 more ghz? (almost 200 more including tax). Am i going to notice the spped difference? im gonna be using it mostly for gaming, photoshop, inventor and watching videos. thank you.

  • Apple MacBook Pro 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (17-inch): Maximum momory?

    Hi,
There are confusing posts on the maximum memory I can put on Apple MacBook Pro 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (17-inch). Is it 3GB or 8GB?
    Thanks in advance,
    YD

Apple says 3GB's, but you can run a max of 4GB's, although only about 3.3GB's will be able to addressed by your system. However, you'll get better performance by running matched pairs, so upgrade to 4GB's.

MacBook Pro 8,1 – Intel Core i5 – 2.23 GHz (early 2011) New with OSX 10.6 – current on all updates.
I successfully installed rEFit. I used Boot Camp to install Win 7.  All was great.
Then installed debian 6.  Somehow after the debian install and restart (I know this sounds crazy) but I am now reduced to Win 7 only. rEFit is not present when rebooting nor is OSX or debian. Further, I am unable to force the install DVD to launch when rebooting, by holding C, D or F8.  The Option key brings me to the grey screen with a padlock. I have attempted the root and local pw- no go. Restart holding D takes me to the windows boot manager. I have attempted several options within the Advanced Options; including – Repair Your computer, safe mode and “last known good config,” All of which did nothing.
I can see all my OSX files within win7. I tried to install the OSX within windows. Ya right, that did nothing..
I only desire to get back to OSX...
    What are my options??

Yes, you royally hosed up your machine.
You should first try to get your files off, any way you can to a external drive.
Your going to need to hold c and boot from the disk that came with your computer and a couple of screens in under the menu is a option for Disk Utility.
Select your drive and Erase with Security Option Zero, format the drive HFS+ Journaled and when that's finished (about a hour or so) then quit and install OS X from the installer.
I hope this works, but I suspect it won't. Others have hosed their machines trying to use a Linux disk without proper partition formatting too.
Another option might be to use another Mac to c boot off the Snow Leopard disk and install OS X onto a external drive, take that to the problem Mac and try holding option and booting off of it to erase your internal drive.
    You could replace the drive.

Is this holding option while booting?
There was someone else around here who hosed their Mac with a Linux disk too. Try to find it.

  • Can I install Snow Leopard on a MacBook Pro 2.0GHz quad-core Intel i7?

I need to reformat my MacBook Pro 2.0GHz quad-core Intel i7 with OS X Lion with Snow Leopard in order to install Final Cut Pro Studio 2. Does anyone know if this can be done? Thanks in advance!!!

    Hi z,
Contact Apple and ask them for the install disc that would have shipped with your machine if Lion had not been released. Others have been successful in obtaining the disc and installing SL.

  • MacBook Pro 17" with Intel Core 2 Duo startup freeze with 10.6.8?

With my MacBook Pro 17" with Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.33 GHz startup freeze with 10.6.8 - I had problems after several SW upgrades. Startup ends every time in a freeze or a crash, nothing is running, i am not able to type in the password. it starts in beginning with thin colored disrupting lines on the display and this get more and more and than freeze the system.
"Save Boot", startup with shift shows no problems, display is ok, no freeze. So something must new in the video-driver. Is there any driver what I can delete or any new software to help in this issue?

try to boot off the cd installazzione, when the screen appears to follow thePACKING screen viewing. If you've already looked in the manual are your problem?

  • Cable that will connect to a VGA port on a TV from my MacBook Pro (2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo)

    Hi,
The HDMI port on my Maxent tv is not working.  I am hoping to connect my MacBook Pro to the TV via the VGA port on the TV to watch Netflix and movies.  What cables do I need that will connect to a VGA port on a TV from my MacBook Pro (2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo)?  And will that cable support audio or will I need a separate audio cable?
    Thanks-
    Sheri

    Hi Sheri,
The Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro models have a Mini DisplayPort for video out, which can be connected to a VGA connector using Apple's adapter. See this product page -
Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter - Apple Store (U.S.)
VGA does not carry an audio signal.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • When I begin to attempt to download the windows support software in boot camp, it says the windows support software is unavailable. Is there any other place I can download it for a Macbook Pro 5,5 intel core 2 duo without the original CD?

When I begin to attempt to download the windows support software in boot camp, it says the windows support software is unavailable. Is there any other place I can download it for a Macbook Pro 5,5 intel core 2 duo with snow leopard without the original CD?

    Hi,
apart from the MacBook Air this feature is of no use for other Macs right now.
Simply ingnore it (click "I already have the Drivers...) and continue with the installation.
Sorry to say but you need the OSX Install DVD for the BootCamp Driver installation.
The 3.0 version of the BootCamp Drivers is only avaiable on the disc.
Later updates (3.1 and 3.2) can be downloaded from Apples Support website.
Call Apple and ask for a replacement and they usually send you one for a small fee.
And have the Serial-Number of your Mac at hand when calling.
And since the OSX Install DVD can also be vital for maintenance and repair it is best to have one.
The needed BootCamp Drivers are on the OSX Install DVD 1 that came with your Mac.
Insert that disc while in Windows after the Windows installation to install the drivers.
    Regards
    Stefan

I have seen reports of people who have replaced the processor - putting a core 2 duo where there was a core cuo - and Lion still will not work. Be cautious about doing this.
    Best of luck.
Oh thank you I was unaware of this. Yes please be cautius if you intend to replace your processor.

  • Will the ram from a "macbook pro 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo" work in a "MacBook Pro 2.2GHz Quad-core Intel i7"

I have a 2008? MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB ram.  Can I use 2 GB ram from the old machine in a new MacBook Pro 2.2GHz Quad-core Intel i7 ?
    /bc

    Very likely not.
RAM gets improved over time like everything else, so if the RAM is too old it won't be compatible with newer machines.
TO confirm, use Crucial.com and punch in each machine, then read the RAM requirements and specifications, if they match, then your good.
But I'm willing to bet they won't be beause of the age difference between the two machines.
