Macbook Pro and a Sierra Wireless 598u

I just got one of these cards as I am switching from ATT to Sprint. System Profiler sees the card when its plugged in but no where else can it be found, not under network settings or in the sprint smartview software. I have downloaded and installed the latest version, I have also de-installed it and reinstalled it.
Any help would be great, thanks

I have this same problem, did you ever get it solved?

  • Macbook Pro and D-link Wireless issues

I bought my macbook pro from my school because I obtain a computer grant. The macbook pro came with a certain programs installed for my school UNC-CH. I had never had any problems with my internet connection until my parents changed our linksys wireless router for a D-Link router. My macbook pro does not connect to the internet for some sort of reason. The air port says that I have DNS and an assigned IP address; but for some reason my web browser and my applications say that I am not connected to the internet. Whenever I connect my macbook pro to the wirelss router through a ethernet cable, everything works fine. The problme only occurs over the Wi-Fi. My brother has a Macbook Air and he does not have any internet issues. I also have a thunderbolt display that has no issues witht the wire-less network. Do you think that the problem arises because of the added programs that my school added to my computer? I know that my Universtiy is very strct when it comes to connecting to the internet. My macbook pro came with a program called NAC Agent; which I use to communicate with my school's internet connection. I have tried closing the program while I am at home and having it on; but noihing seems to work.
    Any ideas?
    P.S.
I curently use my thunderbolt display's Wi-Fi to power my internet connection through the Bluetooth PAN connection.

Thanks for the feedback LilyLC. I too have gone through all of your steps and a host of others. Still with no luck. No problems at all with my Airport Express, but still no way to keep up a connection with my DIR-655 via WIFI N. I tried all of the steps with each firmware version too. I've given up at this point. I want the 2 months of my life back that I spent troubleshooting this mess. At least Apple could acknowledge this and say we are on it, and that it isn't only "in our heads."
    /begin rant/
I think that Apple needs to do some re-evaluating of their software release schedule/quality control. At this point I would rather wait and have them get it right then put out subpar updates and fall into the downward spiral pattern of "the rest of them". My confidence has been shaken and I've been a mac fan since the beginning. I just want Apple to split off the iPod/Phone/TV etc. into its own division and to get back on track with the Mac line starting now. We need this stuff to work to make a living and this takes a higher priority in my mind than new twiddle apps on the iPhone.
I do own two iPods and an iPhone but would chuck them in a river to get Leopard working solidly with the majors like Adobe, Extensis, Epson, as well as stable networking, syncing and backups. Apple really has their hands full at this point with a large list of bugs. I really wish them well but can't say I'm in the least bit happy as a consumer at this point. For the first time in a long time I feel sheepish when answering whether or not I'd recommend a Mac, and that hurts me deeply for some reason.

  • HELP! Macbook Pro and ATT wireless compatibility- which card to use?

I just bought a Macbook Pro and to my surprise my Sierra Wireless 860 ATT card does not fit it!
How do I get ATT wireless internet with a Macbook Pro? I prefer a card (like the Sierra Wireless 860) that allows an external antenna connection but will take any and all advice.
    Thanks

try disabling email scanning for incoming mail.
One of the last things that occurs is the mail server and Thunderbird sign off on "where we are up to" and Thunderbird stores this state information in the popstate.dat file in your profile (there is one in each POP mail account folder). If the anti virus, or you for that matter, end the conversation a few seconds early that hand off does not occur and the popstate is not stored.

I have just acquired an iMac desktop (about 4 years old). I want to connect to my Apple airport wireless network, but cannot remember the password. How can I access the password or, if necessary, reset it. I already use a MacBook Pro and an iPad on the network and don't want to jeopardize what already works well. I am not all that computer literate.

How can I access the password or, if necessary, reset it.
Read the user manual that came w/your Airport router or you can cross-post in one of the  AirPort Forums for instructions.

  • I have a macbook pro and aphotosmartD110 wireless printer.  I was told that if I install the printer software on my computer, it will no longer print wirelessly.  Is that true and how do I scan wirelessly without loading in the software?

I have a macbook pro and a photosmart D110 printer.  I was told that if I load the software for the printer onto my mac that it will no longer print wierlessly.  Is that true and how can I scan wirelessly without loading the software? Also, can I just connect my mac to the printer with a cable and scan or do I need that software loaded onto the mac?  Thanks for all help!

If you are running Lion then all drivers are distributed through Software Update. You do not need to install anything, other than to install the printer in System Preferences > Print & Scan. If you already added the printer while it was connected using USB, you might want to delete it and set it up again wirelessly to avoid confusion. Or, give them two distinct names e.g. "Photosmart D110 (USB)" and "Photosmart D110 (wireless)".
All scanning functions are now performed using Preview, but you can also access the scanner through the same Print & Scan preference pane, or with Image Capture.
This HP document may help explain how driver software is distributed now:

My Airport wireless is working for my two MacBook Pros and my daughter's iPod, but our iPad, Iphone and other iPod all say they need to set up an Airport Base Station but do not have the proper software.  I'm not sure what to do to remedy this situation.

This might sound like a silly question, but are you sure the iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch etc.) are still trying to connect to the same network from your own Airport router, as the MacBook Pros are? If you tap Settings on them, is the network name next to where it says Wi-Fi, the right one?
I've got a weird feeling that either in the past couple of days, a neighbour got an Airport device and hasn't set it up yet (causing your iOS devices to try to help), or that perhaps there's an issue with your Airport router and they're noticing it and trying to help out, while for whatever reason, Airport Utility isn't opening itself on the MacBook Pros like it normally should if there's a problem.
If you open Airport Utility on one of the MacBook Pros, does it report any problems with your Airport device, and can you view/edit the settings on it?

I connect my macbook pro to an Epson wireless projector. The macbook can see the projector wirelessly and the image on the macbook is displayed on the projector. However on system ref., the arrangement tab does not show and thus cannot have multiple view.
I am trying to project Pro Presenter on the Epson projector such that I have the detail screen on the macbook and only the screen I want people to see on the projector display. This has not been possible because the arrangement tab on the Display section of the System Preference is not showing. If i tried to search for the arangement, it comes back with the message that there is not other source detected, hence the arrangement tab is not showing.
I have also tried to connect the Epson directly to the Macbook but it still the same result, so its not because it is a wireless connection. Can someone advise me jhow to go around this problem. I have used windows before and it is very easy to extend ptojection on windows, but this system seems to be frustrating to me.

    Hi Toksyb!
You may want to try clearing out the PRAM on your computer. This process is explained through this article:

    Hi a,
    http://www.mctiviausa.com/
There has been "talk" on and off of Apple TV doing it (and people have done it with a hack), but I haven't really followed it.
It would be a whole lot cheaper getting an adapter (as needed) and cable and simply pluggin it in when you're in the kitchen.

  • Wireless router for iMac, MacBook Pro and iBook G4

I am in a deep trouble finding a wireless router which could be configured by a Mac and working with iMac, MacBook Pro and iBook G4. Please recommend me a wireless router

Any 802.11 b/g/n or 802.11 b/g WiFi router will work. Any router can be configured by a Mac. While some now ship with fancy configuration software that attempts to mimic the easy setup of an Apple base station, they all can be configured via a web browser. My own preference is NetGear.
