Macbook Pro and dropbox

Hi,
I'm new to the Apple world having recently purchased a Macbook Pro. I used Dropbox a lot on my PC and have downloaded the App to the Macbook. However it is taking an absolute age to download the photos (120 files and is stating 4 days at a speed of 6k/bs per second! Also, my internet is pretty slow.
Generally, anything like this is slower than my old PC slow anyway and partly the reason for the change. Does anyone know of any reason why this could be so slow and any ideas to fix it? Or is this a common problem?
My internet is also regularly saying 'no network connection' although there is clearly still a connection and if i press refresh it will eventually load the page requested.
Hopefully just teething problems. ANy help would be much appreciated.

Let's get some information on the table:
What model/year MacBook Pro do you have? (You said you just bought it, but is it a current model? Retina or non-retina? 13"/15"/17"?)
What version of [Mac] OS X is it running? (Your profile says iOS 6.0.2, but that only runs on iPhones, iPads, and the like.)
When you say "6k/bs," do you mean 6,000 bits per second (6Kb/s) or bytes per second (6KB/s)? (Not that either isn't pretty bad.)
What are the type and the nominal speed of the internet connection to your home or business?
Are your PC and Mac attached to the internet connection in the same way when you compare their speeds? (E.g., both wired directly to the vendor-supplied modem/router/gateway, or both using a separate wireless access point or wireless router.)
What actual speeds do you achieve with your old PC on wifi? on ethernet? (Use speedtest.net or the like to measure; run several tests and state the range of results.)
Same questions for your MacBook Pro.

    If you have manually manage set, you do not sync.
    If you want to sync, select the content desired to sync and sync.

    Why do you want to do this (I'm curious)?
    I found this article which explains how to copy keychains from one Mac to another.  Keep in mind that this does not sync the keychains; it's only a snapshot of your existing keychain at the time you copy it.   And ... you are on your own doing this, especially if your Macs have different releases of OS X.

    I agree with LowLister, the best option for you to share the video online is to upload it to your online storage account for example : Box, Dropbox, SkyDrive (All of them provide free storage beginning from 2GB).
    You can upload the files which you want to share in this online storage and then they have sharing options in which you'll will get the link of the file to be sent and send the email. You're good to go!
    Tip : You can store multiple files for backup purposes.

When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
    This is a common issue with second hand Macs. The iLife apps came bundled free on this Mac and they are registered to your dad's Apple ID. The only way for you to acept them into your Apple ID is for you and your dad to contact Apple Care, explain that he has passed the Mac to you and ask that the iLife apps be released from your dad's Apple ID so that you may accept them into your Apple ID.

    This was probably already asked hundreds of times – but after extensive google search I still haven't found a solution that would satisfy me;
    It is about syncing ...
    To be more precise: I work on two macs (in my case a macbook pro and a macbook air) and I want to  have kind of "mirrored systems";
    I want to have the same apps across the two systems with the same preferences
    And of course I don't want to set it up all manually.
    And programs who use librarys to manage the underlying data (like iPhoto, Together, iTunes etc.) should be synced across the two macs.
    Is that even possible?
    I tried the dropbox solution for application preferences (copying the preference-files to dropbox and create simlinks in the preference folders).
    But it seemed like this would lead dropbox to constantly uploading and syncing stuff (which is not necessary since I don't work on the two machines 'simultaneously') ...
    Also it feels like a hacky solution which at some point could easily break.
    So I thought about time machine.
    But I heard that it is really slow – and I only have 128 gb on my macbook air.
    Therefore I actually don't want to sync every application and every data-folder.
    So what is the best solution for these problems?
    Is time machine really so slow? Can't you tell the macbook air to only 'restore' part of the newest backup (made on the pro)?
    What other solutions are there?
    I use the macbook air when I have to travel – so I don't need a perfect sync constantly – but before I leave the house with the air I want to get it synced properly (but as I said, not everything because it wouldn't fit on the ssd of the air) ...

    Why did my Macs initially print fine, but now will not print at all?
    Full Story:
    I have a wireless network at my house that consisted of a 30mb cable internet, Netgear 900n, HP Officejet Pro 8600, 2 Dell Laptops with Windows 7, a Lenovo Laptop with Windows 7, and Dell Tower with Windows 7 - All printed just fine.
    The HP Officejet 8600 was added to my network about 2 months ago.  
    I added a Macbook Pro and a Macbook Air about 3 weeks ago.  Both Macs printed just fine for about a week.  Then suddenly they stopped.  I spent about 2 hours on the phone with HP Service, and they finally said it must be my router.  So I called Netgear.  Netgear was useless!  They wanted me to agree to charges for services before they would even discuss the issue.  
    Due to information provided by HP's service support, and because Netgear will not support their product, I promptly purchased a new router - an Apple Airport Extreme.
    The Macs recognize the printer, will print if hardwired via a USB cable, but will not print wirelessly to the Officejet Pro 8600.  The PCs print fine.  
    The frustration that is being felt is compound by the fact that the Macs printed just fine with the Officejet Pro 8600 2 weeks ago, and now the printer just shows "idle"... even with a new router. (see image below)
    Please help, I appreciate any support.  
    As a side note, the HP Service rep was very friendly, and definitely tried to support the HP Product, which is much more than I can say about Netgear.

    More likely the issue related with Multicast, which Apple devices relies on to communicate with teh device through the network.
    First try unplugging the router for 30 seconds.
    Plug it back to the power and wait for 2-3 minutes.
    Turn the HP printer Off and back On, then check for any difference.
    If the same persists, try changing your router configuration as following
    Note: the settings below are not related with the HP product, I provide you the steps as a best effor and those are only based on my own knowledge. you may try modifying the router settings at your own risk:
    Open the router configuration page (can be found listed as the Default Gateway by clicking the Wireless icon on the printer, then print a network configuration report.
    Click the Advanced tab.
    Click the Setup option from the menu, then click on WAN Setup.
    Make sure to uncheck the box next to Disable IGMP Proxying and Apply the changes.
    Click the LAN Setup on the same Setup menu.
    Set the RIP Version as RIP-2 and Apply the changes.
    Reboot your router and then check for any change.

    Sounds like you'll need to access that drive while it is not booted. You need to replace it anyway, so do that, then one way or another (ext enclusure, et), access it and copy files.
    If you keep trying to boot it, you might kill it for good and not get your files, so just swap it out first.

    The camera must be plugged in to AC power (not batteries only). And generally, the camera should be set to Play mode, not recording mode.
