Macbook Pro and Magic TrackPad don't pair correctly

Hi
Today I bought a Magic Track Pad and tried to pair it with my Macbook Pro (early 2010, running 10.6.8).
The steps i did:
1. Open System Prefernces > Trackpad > Confige Bluetooth Trackpad
2. Turned the Trackpad on (After a second it was blinking, as it should)
     - so far so good
3. Clicked on "Continue"
4. Got this error message: http://cl.ly/451t241v3m2W1E3J173L/Screen_shot_2011-08-05_at_12.47.52.png
5. Clicked on Continue with the following message: http://cl.ly/3E3u2t0h2X3K3h0k1y0b/Screen_shot_2011-08-05_at_12.48.08.png
      - the setup doesn't find the trackpad anymore
6. The Trackpad works as mouse but without the multitouch gestures.
7. It appear in the bluetooths settings: http://cl.ly/1B3I362D36263i121B3g/Screen_shot_2011-08-05_at_12.48.33.png
Before you ask:
Afterwords I tried nearly every other connecting order
My system is up to date
I tried a restart
I downloaded the update "Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0" - the setup don't want to install the update: "not necessary"
The Trackpad works perfectly with another Mac (plastic-unibody Macbook from 2009)
So what should I do? Any idea?
Regards
Fabian

In cases like this, many times there is a conflict with 3rd party apps.  USBoverdrive seems to be the most frequent.  If this doesn't apply than try a pram reset and a SMC reset.

I want to access my library on my macbook pro and copy work done away from home to Aperture on my imac how do I do this?

Are you working on images on both machines?
If you want to round-trip images, you can export a project as a library from your iMac, copy that to your MacBook Pro, and then edit the images there.  When you're done, copy that library back to the iMac and import it to your iMac.  The iMac should recognize the changes you've made and update its images.
Read the Aperture help file, which will guide you to the Aperture manual.  It can walk you through this.  You have to be careful to do it correctly, but I've done this a few times and it works quite well.

  • I have upgraded to 10.6.8 on my macbook pro and find I don't have pages.  Pages in app store is for 10.10 only.  How can I access all my pages files in Snow Leopard?

I have upgraded to 10.6.8 Snow Leopard from Leopard on my macbook pro and now cannot read and write pages.  Pages in app store is for 10.10 and above.  I don't have a pages application. Where can I get pages for snow leopard?

It's been so long since I bought my macbook pro in August of 2010, but I do remember the iwork disk that had pages, numbers, and keynote on it, but I can't find the disk in my closet.  I did not realize that when I took my computer in to the genius bar to upgrade to Snow Leopard, and then to download Yosemite, that I would lose these applications.  I had no reason to open pages when I emptied my hard drive to upgrade to Snow Leopard, so I don't know if I kept iwork when I upgraded to Snow Leopard at the Genius Bar.  I had file vault on with my external drive on, and since removed it before the upgrade, but now all my documents are unable to open on my external drive.  ****.  So now the new problem is how do I undo file vault in a new OS 10.10 when encoded in 6.8?  Can I take my external drive in to Genius Bar?
I bought my macbook pro at Best Buy, but can't remember if iwork came with this computer, or with an older mac I bought.  Can anyone check to see if I have a valid key code, and will insertion of an iwork disc allow me to use pages with Yosmite?

  • My Macbook pro and iPhone 4 will not pair.

I have gone through the setup assistant procedure numerous times, but always get the message "the pairing attempt was unsuccessful' on the Macbook Pro, and "pairing took too long" on the iPhone.
    Any ideas?

The wireless sync is by way of WiFi as opposed to BlueTooth. Tethering is the process of using your iPhones data plan to provide Internet access to another device, such as iPad or other computer. Tethering can be by way of WiFi, wired, or BlueTooth.

  • Macbook pro and airport extreme don't work

A friend (and all those tv commercials) say everything just works with Macs. Well, not exactly. New Macbook Pro and Airport Extreme can't connect me to the internet. I still have PC connected via ethernet cable to my cable modem and router which is in the basement where the cable enters the house. I've tried the different options in Airport Extreme setup and nothing works. It doesn't help Apple assumes I know everything about DHP PPPOE NAT or whatever all those silly things are.
Can anyone explain in +very simple+ terms how I get this expensive piece of aluminum connected to the internet?
    Thanks.

Hello sofarapplesux. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
I assume that you will continue to use the modem and router in the basement to get your Internet access ... correct? What is the make/model of this router?
If that's the case, I will also assume that you have the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) connected by Ethernet to this router ... correct?
So your overall network configuration should look something like the following:
Cable modem > (Ethernet cable) > \[Internet port] router \[LAN port] > (Ethernet cable) > \[WAN port] AEBSn ... close?

    Do you mean Bluetooth?
If you are trying to activate your iPhone you need to use iTunes.
There's no need to "pair" an iPhone with a Mac. Syncing, restoring, backing up, apps/ music / photos etc., is all done with iTunes.

  • Trackpad Fix for All Macbook Pro and Macbook Models.

Apple has issued a update for the Trackpad but the update is only compatible with the newer unibody Macbooks and Macbook Pros.
I have made the following patch that is compatible with all Macbook Pro and Macbook models with trackpad issues. Don't forget to run the registry patch last.
    Download it here:
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SNIG71OI
This should fix the trackpad issues for all Macbook Pro models.
    1. Go to Device manager and go to the "Apple Multitouch Mouse Properties."
    2. Go to the driver tab and click on Update Driver.
    3. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".
    4. Click on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
    5. Click on the "Have Disk" button.
    6. Browse to the location of the included "Apple Multitouch Mouse Driver" folder and hit OK.
    7. Click on next and it will update the driver.
    8. Double-Click the included "MouseFix" registry file.
    9. Restart and enjoy!

Thanks a lot for the effort you made. Rightclick/Scroll problem is not as bad as before, but its still there. What exactly did you change in the driver files? I'm very interested in this.
I think about programming my own drivers. A good base for that will be perhaps the source code for this linux demo:

You may need many other updates to retain compatibility with Lion. I suggest you reinstall Snow Leopard. Unfortunately, you will need to erase the drive first. Be sure to backup your data if you haven't done so already.
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. After you finish Setup Assistant will complete the installation after which
you will be running a fresh install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process
by opening Software Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your
             installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • I just got a new MacBook Pro, and I tried to bring across my files from my last mac using time machine. After it was done copying I can't find my files anywhere but the space (about 130gb) has been used on my hard drive. Help please!!

I just got a new MacBook Pro, and I tried to bring across my files from my last mac using time machine. After it was done copying I can't find my files anywhere but the space (about 130gb) has been used on my hard drive. Does anyone know how I can get to them? I did change my user name from 'user' while it was copying, could this have something to do with it?

You don't want to do that by copying.
Your best bet, by far, is to use Setup Assistant.  If your Mac is running Snow Leopard, see Using Setup Assistant on Snow Leopard or Leopard.
If it came with Lion, it's a bit different: Using Setup Assistant on Lion

Try the other USB port. If it still doesn't show up in Disk Utility then there may be something wrong with your Mac. Try something else in each USB port and see if it is seen. If the other thing, like a USB thumb drive, does show up in disk utiltiy then the USB ports are fine.
Power down the system and restart with the drive connected, go to DU and see it it is seen.

The App Store version sometimes gives problems. As you can't install 10.8.4 from the App Store, download and install the Combo edition > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1659?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US This edition will work and will update OS X to the most recent version, in that case, 10.8.4

  • Windows 7 computer, and my macbook pro on snow leopard don't see each other?

My windows 7 computer, and my macbook pro on snow leopard don't see each other. I have configured the windows section under the network prefrences with the required information, and still no luck. Does anyone have any sugestions for me?

Shouldn't they see each other and let me use each of their files?
Please pardon the obvious here, but have you checked to make sure that you have enabled the File Sharing option on both computers? You may have already done this, but your post did not mention this, so we can only go with the info that we have.
If you have not enabled File Sharing, I can't help on Windows, but on your Mac...
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
    Open Sharing
Enter a check mark next to File Sharing
I imagine that there is a similar setting for the Windows machine
It would be a good idea to power cycle your entire network as well to make sure that the network is sequenced correctly. Power everything down, order is not important.
Start your modem first and let it run a moment by itself
Then start your main router the same way
Continue starting each device the same way until everything is powered back up
