  • NEW Macbook Pro anti-glare screen choice

    Hi,
I did not see the NEW Macbook Pro anti-glare screen choice.
Did Apple Stop offering the anti-glare screen option on the NEW 2013 Laptops?
                      THANKS!!  - Randy

If you look at the specifications for the 15" non-retina MBPs, you will note that anti-glare option is available.
    Ciao.

  • Is Anti-Glare Film A Viable Option?

I was planning on ordering a new MBP, but the all-glossy lineup is a real disappointment. I suspect that matte screen MBPs will be going for a premium instead of being discounted...!
I see that there are more than a few brands of anti-glare film available. Has anyone had direct experience using one of these products on a glossy iMac or MacBook?

This was my next purchase. Get a nice new Macbook Pro. In fact I was hoping for a 13" or - dare I say it - 12" model. I have used my current MacBook daily in my line as photographer, so its become a essential work tool for me.
Then today came the announcement of using Gloss across the line! What the h*ell is Steve thinking...!?!? more vivid colours!?!? sorry, but this is the worst upgrade ever. If you ever worked with any number of images on your laptop in a variety of environments, you would have provided an option for a 'super matt' display, not a mirror glass effect display. Perhaps we'll see curved glass next so we can see the whole world reflected in them!!
Sorry, but going to spent my money on a Dell instead... (they even run OS X on them!)

  • Anti Glare Film VS Anti Glare Screen

I really hate the silver bezel around the anti glare screen that comes with the MacBook Pro, but I do NOT like the reflectivity of the glossy screen. I'm wondering, would there be any significant drawback to buying a glossy model and then applying an anti-glare film, as opposed to ordering the anti glare screen itself?

Hey Mmartino88, your best bet is to get one of these frame skins. I got one for my MacBook Air and looks really cool. They sell them for Pros as well. Here's where I got mine from www.precioustore.com

  • Anti-glare film for 27" display

    Folks,
Do you know of any decent anti-glare film for the new 27" Apple Cinema Display? I got a this new monitor 2 days ago and I am starting to get headaches because of the glare... no matter how/where I position the screen in my office.
I really wish Apple would give a choice between glossy vs matte. That's future (hopefully), but for now I have to figure out a way to work with this 'shiny' new display

There's a anti glare film out here: http://www.radtech.us/Products/ClearCal-Displays.aspx
Still, I don't understand why Apple doesn't produce an 27" antiglare screen as optioned with the MBP...
I will buy the product above and let you know the results.

  • Is HD anti-glare film for iPhone 4 compatible with Seido Innocase Rugged?

Is Power Support HD anti-glare film for iPhone 4 compatible with an Seido Innocase Rugged case? (That case is the one that, aside from the holster, has 3 pieces: a 2-piece plastic case that slides over the phone, a soft rubber-like case that fits over that, and finally an X-shaped plastic back that grabs the corners of the soft case.)

Nope. My PS Crystal screen protector looks like there's nothing on my iPhone 4. I've tried many screen protectors, and this one is by far the best I've ever used.

  • Anti-Glare Film Set, bad clarity?

    Greetings all,
I recently picked up Power Support's Anti-glare film set for the 3G. I took my time and followed the instructions for installation. My complaint is that the screen is extremely grainy. It's almost like there should be a top layer of the film to peel back like the Belkin screen protectors. It's highly noticeable when using Safari, Email, and other primarily white applications.
I am wondering if this is normal for the screen protector, or did I not clean the screen good enough? I have the one film left and before I attempt it again I would like to see if anyone could provide some clarity on my clarity issue.
    Thanks!

Go the Apple store, or order online a "Crystal" film for the iPhone. They make 2 versions, a smooth and an anti-glare. Be sure to buy the correct one that you want.
I use the smooth, and it is virtually invisible, its smooth, no degradation of the image quality. It works perfectly
I would suggest buying a couple of them because applying them can be tricky due to dust, finger prints etc. Its not too hard to do, but you can sometimes get dust trapped underneath the film when installing it because it takes a bit of trial and error to line it up nicely.
Its the best "skin" for the iphone. Stay away from the invisible shield like products. They dont work well on the iphone and they peel off because the corners do not really adhere well. I had one on the back of my phone, and used a crystal clear smooth film on the front. Eventually the corders of the invisible shield peeled up, and dust got underneath and it looked like poop. So i took it off. BTW when you take those Invisible Shield like products off, they peel up the ink on the back of the phone used to print your serial number. Luckly it didnt take it completely off, but i've heard of it happening. So be adviced.
Anyways, in the end... i realized i didnt need the Invisible Shield skin. It just doesnt do much for the phone. The Invisible Shield worked great on my iPod, but it just doesnt work on the iphone cause its edges are too rounded.

  • Cleaning the PowerSupport Anti-Glare Film

After well over an hour trying to get the film positioned properly without bubble I finally succeeded...almost. Even though I used canned air to blow off the dust, etc., I managed to get a few dirt particles trapped between the film and iPod. They were small enough not to be a problem themselves, but they did cause small bubbles around them. At $15 a pop, it is too expensive to scrap. Does anyone know some way to clean the side of the film that touches the iPod screen? Canned air doesn't work.

I don't believe you can clean the side that touches the screen of the iPod Touch. But here is the process I followed to get mine set without dust or bubbles.
First use a microfiber cloth to clean the touch thoroughly. This should remove almost if not all of the dust. If there is still dust use compressed air to remove the remainder.
DO NOT REMOVE THE ENTIRE FILM. Very important. Peel back one corner and get the screen film lined up. Once you are happy with the placement pinch the Touch so the exposed corner of the film makes firm contact the the Touch. Slowly lift the opposite corner of the film and grasp the protective layer, slowly pull it off and smooth the Anti-Glare film onto the front of the Touch.
This is similar to applying window tint. You can probably find a video on the net. This is the same technique used to apply graphics stickers to cars and windows.

  • Anti-Glare Film for Glass Screen

I want to get a new 15" MBP but I'll have to get a glass screen because I don't want hi-rez.
Has anyone found a good anti-glare film for glass screens that works well?
Anyone think that apple may offer regular rez w anti-glare?

    revDAVE,
I installed one of these and I love it. In fact, I just ordered a high-res UMPB with the glossy screen because I can add a matte film to it if I want, but I can't remove the matte finish from Apple's offering if I don't like it.
Just take your time with the installation to avoid any air bubbles.
    eww,
I have no commercial interest in the supplier of this product and will not gain anything through this recommendation except the satisfaction of being helpful.

  • 2009 late model plastic unibody MacBook cracked & anti-glare glass chipped?

I'm disappointed in my macbook, not in performance, rather quality and Apple's lack of customer service. The front of the case has cracked from normal use, beginning under the case and ending just to the right of my touchpad. I contacted Apple and they said that because it was out of warranty it's not covered. I've searched the web and it sounds like its a common problem. I'm curious if anyone has been able to get an out of warranty repair and wonder why Apple hasn't recalled the obviously defective cases.
Additonally, the anti-glare glass has a tiny, tiny pin hole in it. My MacBook has never been dropped or hit. When I took it in for a repair quote the technician said he had never seen anything like it and didn't understand how it could chip in such a way. He believes the glass probably was defective and contained an air bubble in production. I'm curious if anyone has also had this problem? Again, when mentioned to Apple customer service, no assistance was offered outside paying out of pocket for all repairs.
I really do love my Mac, but had I known I would have had problems with the plastic unibody I would have opted for the MacBook Pro aluminum body.

I don't think you understand the purpose of this forum. If you can't provide HELPFUL support information, don't both responding. Your posts have no value and are simply a waste. I personally don't care if you believe me or not, I'm inquiring if others have had similar issues and is so, if they have had success in getting it fixed and how.
Also, though the design for the 2006 vs the 2009 macbook are different, until they went to aluminum, were made of similar plastic polyurethane. Why did they discontinue the use of plastic polyurethane? Perhaps because of cracking from defective production?
    Thanks.

  • Power Support Anti-Glare Film Set for iPhone 3G - DIY or Apple store?

    http://store.apple.com/us/product/TS504?mco=MTM4OTI
So shopping around for cases and accesories for my 3G, I saw this. A friend who also has 3G had an Apple store employee "install" his. Am I better off ordering it online and doing it myself or just going to the Apple store, buy it there, and have them do it?
My main concern are the airbubbles that more than likely get stuck in there as I've had w/ similar products.

I have had a film that seems to look similar to what they are selling there for my old AXIM X30. That thing was awesome and I can't find the company where I bought it anymore.
Once the film seemed old and scratched, I was able to remove it, wash it with dishwashing liquid and reinstall it. I used it for over 2, maybe even 3 years with great success and I would love to have that again. I think I will try it.
I have had 4 films for my new iPhone and all of them are/were crap. They all smudged and eventually ended up pealing. Now, my phone is a device I use, not baby. It is a tool for my and not the holly grail. So I need something tough.
I'll be at the Mac store this afternoon.....
