MacBook Pro asking for password

I bought a new MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display on line from Apple and I started with the normal procedure when it was delivered.
I am sure that the installed version is the newest (Yosemite), the same I have in my 27" iMac model where I am now
I installed Chrome and it immediately synchronize my bookmarks. Good !
I was stuck when it asked me for my iCloud ID or something like that, when trying to install LR.
I closed it and now that I want to start the hole process it asks for the password which in fact, I have not - inserted. If I have I did not mean to, so I do not know which is it.
I want to go in as an administrator and not as guest, of course...
Thank you.
No need to answer.
I got it: I introduced my Apple ID and it is working now !!!!

A couple of things you might try:
-reset the SMC
-log out of this account and try another account
-do a safe boot (repairs some functions)
-use Disk Utility and repair permissions

my used macbook is asking for password to unlock different keychains, how do i reset the password?

    Hi nylife02,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
Without knowing the exact keychain alert your are receiving, I will leave articles for the ones that are most likely the culprit. The one it sounds most like to me is “login” keychain. Please review the article below if indeed you are receiving the “login” keychain prompt.
OS X: Keychain Access asks for keychain "login" after changing login password
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1631
Another keychain prompt that this may be is the “Local Items” keychain. Please follow the attached article if the prompt is for “Local Items” keychain.

  • MacBook Pro Asking for passcode

    HI,
I updated My MacBook Pro to mountain OS X Lion, it was working fine, then i sync my icould account after rebooting my machine its asking me to enter the passcode, i tried entering my icloud passcode its not working saying wrong pascode,
But the same passcode is working for my iPhone.
can you please help me out to open my macbook pro........please,
    Thanks,
    Joseph.

Thank you for responding. It worked fine since last December. Then about a week ago it started rejecting my passcode. If I hit cancel (or enter my passcode, same result), then check mail. I can get my email for a minute, but then the error pops right back up. It happens all the time. My email works perfectly on my iphone and if I login through Safari. I just don't get it! I have been on the phone and chat with Yahoo and they told me to upgrade to a "paid" account. Didn't work. Shocker.

  • I have set up a Netgear dual band modem which works well with the iPhone and an older MacBook, but with this brand new MacBook it asks for a password every time I reopen the computer and open safari. Is it Lion?

I have set up a Netgear dual band modem which works well with the iPhone and an older MacBook, but with this brand new MacBook it asks for a password every time I reopen the computer and open safari. As you can imagine this is very annoying. It says I am not connected to the internet and offers me a choice of nearby networks including mine and then asks for a password when I select it. Why does it do this with our new MacBooks (also with my son's brand new one) and not with the iPhone, iPad and older MacBook? They happily automatically connect to our network after entering the password just the once.

Sig, I appreciate you trying to be helpful. I have no idea what issues you were having or what issue exactly pgrounds has been having. Your assumption that everyone's set up is the same as yours is false however. There are many many documented WiFi issues that are a result of Lion installs. Many have been solved by 10.7.1 and 10.7.2. Others have been solved by a large variety of work arounds. Others have not had their issues solved yet.
I am one of those. I have an IT background, and I spent the better of five hours digging up workarounds and attempting all of them. For the benefit oh anyone who is having similar issues, I have posted links to all of those workarounds here. None of them worked in my case, but hopefully they will help pgrounds or others.
So, once again, if you have a new idea, I'd love to here it. But if it has already been posted in one of these links, it's not helpful, let it go.

When I look up the account the "password" is a long string of gobbledygook. Something I would never do.
But when I attempt to use that pw I still can't get in.
I have no trouble accessing that email account on my mac mini. Just on the macbook.

    Maiko,
I'm confess I'm still trying to get a handle on your problem. You do a fantastic job of describing it ... but I'm just trying to picture it accurately in my head.
I think, were I in your shoes, I'd begin by looking at what the debug page has to say for the specific destination in which you're interested in fixing. In other words, I'm not clear on where, exactly, this destination points ...
    Destination illinois.edu.1945806043
Is that your site, or the division within your site that you want to fix? "Normally", you do not need to specify a site handle to get to your site within your transfer CGI ... if you say "uillinois.edu", it's enough to transfer your users to iTunes U ... but every site still has a handle, and you could, if you wanted to, actually specify it in your transfer CGI. For example, this:
    Destination uic.edu.1139051993
is for my entire site ... it's my site handle. Whereas this:
    Destination uic.edu.1991288441
is for a division within my site ... but it's impossible to tell the difference between "site" and "division" from just the handle (I mean, if I didn't say "this is a site" and "this is a division", there'd be no way for you to know). So when I look at your creds and permissions on your debug page, I can't quite tell if they give you download access for your site, or for the specific division you want to fix. If you could open the debug page with your division as destination (or confirm that that's what we're looking at), it'd rule out some things.

  • My MacBook is asking for a password to install a program, but I didn't set one.

My MacBook is asking for a password to install a program, but I didn't set one. I've just completely wiped my laptop due to corrupt files, which an Apple Genius in the store helped me with, and we didn't set a password. I'm now home and trying to download programs that I had on before, and it's asking for a password. I try to go to "change password" and it asks for the old before I can enter the new, but there is no old. What should I do?

    Hello chilondon,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
The password your Mac is prompting you for is your administrator password for the computer.  If none of the attempts to enter it in worked, including leaving it blank, you can reset the password by following the directions in the link below.

Though it's unlikely to be wrong if things were set up properly in the first place, as a check go to Mail Preferences>Accounts and check that the server setting for IMAP (incoming) is imap.mail.me.com (not just mail.me.com).
Your next step either way would be to go to System Preferences>iCloud and sign out, then sign back in again. (You can ignore warnings about data disappearing - your calendars etc. will disappear when you sign out but reappear when you sign back in).

  • HT1338 I bought my mac book pro from an owner selling. I created my apple ID but whenever I try to download updates it brings up previous owner's apple ID and asks for password. How do I delete existing apple ID and use mine.

I bought my mac book pro from an owner selling. I created my apple ID but whenever I try to download updates it brings up previous owner's apple ID and asks for password. How do I delete or by-pass existing apple ID and use my created apple ID and password to enable updates for my Mac?

Yes, he purchased Mountain Lion on his Apple ID. It is licensed to him. What he should have done was erase the HDD and install the system that the Mac shipped with. Erase and re-install either from Recovery Partition or the disks the Mac originally shipped with. Then, purchase ML with your own Apple ID and install.

  • Pages 5.2 file is password protected but doesn't ask for password and is locked and not accessible.

    MacBook Pro, OS X 10.9.2, Pages 5.2
File is password protected but when I go to open it I'm not asked for password and therefore the file can't be opened.  It shows up in the list of files as locked.  I have opened this file with the password many times, but now I can't open it.

I just got it to work...sorry for the message!

  • Mail contantly asking for password when iPhone is on?

Mail constantly asks for password. I have repaired keychain, deleted the email account and reset it. re-installed the system from scratch. It now seems that if the iPhone and the macbook pro are on at the same time the password issue is relentless if the iPhone is off then the password is asked for once only and then works normally. Surely I can have them both on. Yes I have the mail accounts prefs set up correctly. any help - please

    John,
    Try repairing disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • Stopping program from asking for password?

I Installed smcfancontrol about 6 months ago on my macbook pro with no issues, however a month ago it started asking for my password every single time I tried to change the fan speed which was especially annoying as I have it set to change automatically when plugged in/unplugged so I was always being asked for password every 5 mins. Is there anyway to give it permission or something and go back to how it was for the first 5 months I had it?

Back up all data. Create one or more new "On My Mac" mailboxes and move the messages into them. Then delete the accounts. The messages will be preserved.
