  • Dent on Macbook pro body...

I have got a small dent on my macbook pro front side. It looks ugly and I want to get it fixed. My macbook is still in warranty as i bought it just a couple of months ago. So is it possible i can get the front cover replaced?

Contact the store and the shipper. It should not come with a dent. How was the packaging? Any damage to the shipping carton? You need to determine responsibility. Realize also that "you dropped" it is a possible scenario.

  • Plastic film for anti scratch macbook pro??

    Hiya
Anyone know of a plastic or sort of vinyl film that covers the macbook pro body to try and prevent scratches etc. Not a speck case for example as thats thick plastic, I mean like a thin film of plastic , kind of like a screen protector film but to protect the macbook body.
I ask this as I had a speck case before on old macbook pro, and they seem to make it rather bulky and slightly heavier obviously..
Also that mail to is available in the UK
    Preferably transparent
    PLEASE HELP

  • How to get my macbook pro refurbished? How to repair the damaged scratches on the body?

I have some visible scratches on my macbook pro's body.Is their a way so that I can have these scratches removed making it clean once more?

Your best option would be to sell yours and buy a used, unscratched model. A case replacement by apple is going to cost a small fortune.

  • Static elictricity on MacBook Pro Retina's body disrupts use while charging, any way to ground it?

Hi, I have this old MacBook Pro Retina I got a couple years ago, and part of its original charging kit's wires gave up right next to the MagSafe2 plug, so I purchased a new power adapter, and it appears to not be grounded at all.
When the notebook is charging, static on its metal body is so strong it completely disrupts any work. I cannot use trackpad almost at all, it won't register taps and the coursor is jumping all over the screen even if I don't move my finger at all. To use the notebook I have to keep one of my palms on the metal part of it, and even then after a while my fingers get a little burned on the trackpad, which is inconvenient to say the least.
Anyone have any ideas, how can I can fix this or at least reduce the effects?
I'm in Russia, it's 220v here, power outlets with 2 plugs (no 3rd metal one for grounding).
I've read a bunch of articles about grounding outlets, but they all suggest to bury a metal cable into some soil, which is not possible as I live on 21st floor.
I figured it's the new power adapter's fault, because the old one doesn't act up like that (but I am reluctant to keep using it because its inner metal wiring in places is not covered by plastic anymore, and I fear it might cause a short circuit or something).
When I purchased the new adapter, I was assured it's completely original, but now I suspect it might be a counterfeit, so I would just have purchased another new one, but kinda afraid it will not be original too and will cause the same problems.

It keeps the green light on for a while after I unplug it from the notebook. The scratched part is extension from the old adapter.

  • Heat effect of Full body skin protection on MacBook Pro 15 retina display

Hi I wanted to apply full body protection like ghost armour on my MacBook Pro 15 with retina... But I read somewhere that it may reduce the heat dissipation and that way increase heat in macbook... Please advice me with this concern... As I want my Mac scratch free too... Thanks.

    Hi R,
The aluminum shell of your MBP acts as a "radiator" to radiate heat away from your MBP, especially on the bottom. There is no question the "armour" will reduce the radiating effect, it's just a matter of how much. I'm not sure anyone can tell you that exact amount so you can balance it against potential scratches.

  • Cannot Read Body of my Mail on MacBook Pro

I am using Mail with the latest Mavericks on my MacBook Pro....and it is all updated to the latest software  updates. For the past 5 or 6 days, I cannot read the body of my mail. The headers etc. are visible but in the preview pane below, nothing shows. I think this started because I had left the computer for a few hours and it went to sleep. When I tried to get back on, nothing happened. I pressed the enter and other keys but it still kept 'sleeping'. I finally resorted to turning the power switch off and was presented with this problem. I have searched these forums and though there are a few instances of this, they either seemed to be with older OS systems or on the initial installation of Mavericks....I have had Mavericks since it first came out with no issues.  Also, the majority of these type issues seemed to be with the iPhone or iPad...and I still have not been able to get to the bottom of this.
I have tried to Rebuild the mailbox several times but to no avail. Sometimes the Mail also quits unexpectedly and I am given an error statement. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I have a 2008 MacBook Pro with a 2.53 GHz Intel Core and 8 Gb RAM....and about 40 Gb of free space.

    Humm,
In the Mail > Preferences I have it set to display in Classic view.
Side bar or Accounts in-boxes and other folders
Then a top window of Messages left or new in the In-boxes and the messages being "read" below that.
There are occasions when deleting a messages in the top window does not automatically select another.
This can mean nothing displays in the bottom box  (I just can't re-create it right now ).
If I change to the regular/default view I see the Side Bar still, then the Summary column followed by the Messages column.
The Summary I have chosen has three Messages related to it.
In the Messages column I have scrolled the first to reveal the contents but also show the Header of the next.  (I chose to show Full Headers so there is a lot of info here or not only the Sender but the Server(s) it came through to get to me).
I take you do mean the actual Header to the actual message  (the lower right item in the pic) rather than calling one of the columns "Headers" ?

  • Intermittent strong garlic odor from metal body of MacBook Pro

I bought this MacBook Pro in September, and since January I have noticed intermittent strong garlic odors at times that seem to be coming from the body of the laptop. It makes my hands smell like I've just chopped a dozen garlic cloves, and I haven't been near the kitchen.
Any ideas? I like garlic in my food, but this is nasty.

Someone must have used it to warm their garlic thinking its a heating pan.. Oh wait you have the old MBP.. The new MBPs can be mistaken for a warming pan

  • MacBook Pro Retina Early 2013 ME665xx/A same body like MacBook Retina Mid 2012 MC976xx/A ?

    Hello,
I have a MacBook Pro Retina Early 2013 ME665xx/A. Does it have the same body like the MacBook Retina of Mid 2012 MC976xx/A so that a case for a MacBook Pro Mid 2012 fits on my Early 2013?
    Much thanks

If they are both the same size (as in, they are both 15inch). Then it will fit fine!

  • Faulty Macbook Pro 15" body

    Hello everyone,
not sure if this is happening with many Macbooks Pro but when Im closing the display, the gap between the display and main body isn't the same on either sides of my laptop. It seems like it might be problem with the hinge or maybe the body have got deformed?? Not sure, whether I should take it to Apple store.
Just to clear things up, I never dropped it or anything like it.
Here are some photos I took of it:

    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

Take it to an Apple Store or AASP and ask to have it adjusted.

  • Brand New Macbook Pro 2010 - Cracking body !

    Hi !
I just bought the new macbook pro 2010 with hi-res and anti-glare screen (very impressive).
But something very annoying appeared few days ago when I started using my computer on my laps : it cracks !
I investigated to found the origin of this cracking noise and I succeed in it : the body is cracking when I exerce a little pression on the center of the bottom of the aluminium body. Consequently it cracks only on an unstable surface when the four "black feet" do not ensure a minimal interstice between the surface and the body.
Moreover, it cracks even when the computer is off, even when the computer is cold, so it's nor a drive optic issue neither movement detector, neither dilatation.
How do you explain that ? Remember, my computer is brand new, I just putted out of the box few days ago, no shock, no impact.
I pay the price to have a perfect product, so I want some explanations.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards.

Welcome to the forums g.dubreuil !
This is a user to user support forum and issues raised here are not addressed by Apple employees. I agree with your statement of expecting a perfect product. If you've just bought it, simply contact Apple (or visit an Apple store) and have them take a look at it. I'm not exactly sure of what you are explaining, but if they agree that there is a problem, you should be able to get it replaced... which I would think preferable to an explanation.
