Macbook pro can't find the audio device

Lately I have been having trouble with the audio. The sound doesn't work on the Macbook, and it can't seem to find any devices!
I tried plugging in headphones, but nothing helped.
In the time leading up to this fault, the sound in the mini jack was very poor, and sounded really bad.
When I plug my TV to the computer, by HDMI, I works fine. Even with sound.
Any suggestions?
Oh, and I can't adjust the sound - it simply tells me that there is no device.

I've tried that, and I can't choose anything.
As I said, it can't find any devices. Tried to Reset SMC and PRAM - non helped

  • My MacBook Pro can't find the FireWire port

My MacBook Pro (OSX 10.6.8) can not find the FireWire port. Until now there hasn't been any problems using the FireWire, but now it just deny any knowledge of it, so to speak.
The audio device lights up when I connect it to the MBP (yes, I did connect it when in off-mode), so it seems to work in a way.
Does anyone recognize this problem and knows how to solve it?

  • New MacBook Pro can't find the base station

I just bought a new MacBook Pro and AirPort Extreme Base Station. My house is wired for Ethernet so I plugged the Airport Exteme into one of the Ethernet outlets and did the set-up using my old iMac G5 over the network. (I had to download the latest software for the AirPort Extreme to the iMac before this would work right.) I finally got to the point where I got a green light on the Base Station, but when I search with the AirPort Utility on the MacBook Pro it can't find it, even when it is physically only 3 feet away. I then plugged the MacBook Pro into the AirPort Extreme with an Ethernet cable and it saw it - no problem. I then downloaded all the software updates to the MacBook Pro, restarted, unplugged the Ethernet and tried again. The AirPort Utility still can't find the Base Station. I am running 10.4.10 on both machines. I have 10.5, but don't plan un updating until I get this to work. I spent about half an hour listening to Muzak while trying to get to support and finally gave up. Any suggestions?

  • My MacBook Pro can't find the display brand and resolution

    Hello everybody,
    I have a MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.7 13" Early 2011.
I use and external display Philips 220C1SW
Recently my mac won't recognize the Philips brand anymore and use instead a generic display resolution, which is wrong.
Does anybody had the same issue?
    Looking forward your answers

    Hello le-mat
Check out the article below for resolving issues when connecting to an external display. I would start with resetting the NVRAM and SMC as they will resolve most display resolution and power issues.

  • Macbook pro can´t find/connect to my hotspot

    Dear experts!
I recently moved to a new place and got myself a T-Mobile HomeNet Router. Everything works fine (WiFi and Ethernet) with all devices (iPhone, iPad, iMac, Linux-machine...) EXCEPT my MacBook Pro (specs below in the product section) :-(
Ever since I moved the Macbook can´t find or connect to my home hotspot. Settings on the router are as follows:
    - 802.1 b/g (it IS capable of b/g/n but I found a thread somewhere pointing out that this could be an issue)
    - channel 13 (deactived auto-channel because my neighbours had overlapping channel settings...this was the only one that worked)
    - rate auto
    - frequency 2.4 GHz
    - 30% signal strength (same reason as above)
    - QoS activated
    - SSID hidden (tried broadcasting it, made no difference)
    - WPA2-PSK
    - AES (TKIP and TKIP+AES available as well...but neither made any difference)
I can connect via ethernet, however that´s not the intended purpose of neither my notebook nor the router :-/ Someone suggested it might be an encryption issue but even without  ANY encryption the hotspot won´t show up in the list. Password contains special characters but even my old iMac doesn´t seem to have problems with it. I tried connecting manually via "other network" without success. Also via Controlpanel -> Network -> Assist me ...
I´m sitting right next to my router so the signal strength can´t be the cause either (besides all other devices work just fine anywhere in my appartement). Restarted all devices, each one is up to date. Last thing I tried was making the changes in Firefox cause someone suggested it might be a bug in the router software, still no success.....I´m out of ideas.
Posted this in another Mac forum already but no one could help me :-( You guys are my last hope ... does anyone know this issue and how to solve it??
any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
    many thanks in advance

    Anybody got any suggestions?

Same problem here. Shows up on my PC latop but my Mac Mini can't find the WD MBW. On other forums Itunes updates is mentioned as a cause???

  • Macbook Pro can't find properly working Airport Express network

I have an Airport Express that's set up and working properly, and my Mac Mini and my iPhone both find the airport network, but not my MacBook Pro. The MacBook pro is even closer to the Express than the Mini is, and it finds many available airport networks (from the neighbors), but not my own network that the other units find without a problem - my own network just isn't listed among the others on the MacBook Pro, and Airport Utility on the MBP can't find the Express either. I've obviously tried restarting everything, as well as resetting the Express and setting it up again (which works just fine from the other two units), and I've tried creating a new user account on the MBP and check from there, but no go. The MBP runs the latest version of Snow Leopard and works just fine with other Airport Networks (at work, or one of the neighbors networks even), so it shouldn't be faulty hardware. At some point it's time for a Lion update for the MBP and then we'll see if it's some weird system software error that gets resolved in the process. But until that happens … what else could I try?
I'm thinking maybe this is some 802.11 b/g/n malfunction? The Express is an old g, the iPhone is g only, and the Mini is an old g as well, but the MacBook Pro is newer and supports n … but it should of course still be able to switch down to g and find the **** network (or the Express when running Airport Utility).
    Anyone?

Well, I can't delete the wireless connection since it doesn't really exist (on the MacBook Pro). Had the Express in my office, but brought it home, and reset it there and created a new network using the Mac Mini, so the MacBook Pro had never been connected to that newly created airport network. But I did delete a lot of old saved connections, some of which were from when the Express was used in my office. This was however, before I read your reply here, so I didn't also erase the passwords from the keychain, however. But still no go; the MacBook just wouldn't list the new network among the available ones, or list the Express in the Airport Utility.
But then … last night, for no apparent reason whatsoever, suddenly everything just works.
In trying to wrap my head around this, and learning from it. Is it even possible for an old network used on an Airport device to interfere with a new network created by the same device? What I mean is, does the computer identify the airport by some sort of serial number or something, regardless of the network created by the airport? So that when a computer should be looking for a new and current network on an airport device it instead looks for an old network it has previously been connected to on that same airport device? Assuming the old network should still exist on that same device, and therefore skipping to look for a new network on the same device? I mean that would suck, but if that's the case then at least I'd know to always erase all traces of any old connections for a specific device in a case like this. ;-)
    Thanks for your input!
    Cheers!

  • New MacBook Pro Unibody Jun 2011 - No Audio Device / No Output Device Installed. Please Help.

    Dear All,
I have installed OSX Lion on the 20th July 2011 and the problem started with the audio device installed. Itunes wont even play and iDVD and you tube would work without audio. I have tried everything from system diagnostic re-booting back to original snow leopard on 10.6.7 including taking it for service. The audio works intermittently when I re-start my MacBook but eventually disappears back to square one. Until restarted again.
I am still under my 90 days from purchase date and the problem is I am no longer in London where I originally purchased the MacBook from - I moved to Delhi, India with my family and they don't have geniuses here only local service/ technicians who already tried fixing the problem.
Very disappointed after spending nearly £1,600.00 for this.
I don't want to go back to the local service centre for them to restart my MacBook to prove audio device is working.
Is there any other option for me like refund or replacement?
    Many Thanks
    Shah

    Dear Lex,
Thank you for your advice above.
I have updated latest iTunes 10.4.1(10) 64 bit.
I have updated latest OSX Lion: 10.7.1 Build 11B26
Still the problem occurs. When laptop restarts the sound stays for 5-10 min before shutting down intermittently. In iTunes the music will not even run - other applications such as YouTube - it will run but no sound.
I have tried everything now and I am certain it must be a software connected issue I am experiencing only.
    Please can you help.
    Many Thanks

  • Macbook Pro can't find my home wifi

I just got my battery replaced.. All my data disappeared. The worst thing is, I can't find my home wifi network but my neighbour wifi network is available. Pls help me fix this.
    Mine is a MBP 2011.
    Your help is much appreciated!

    Hello, Sallyelainelee!
You may want to check the settings on your Router to make sure there isn't something in its configuration that's preventing the MacBook Pro from seeing it. If the MacBook Pro can connect to other WiFi networks OK, I would imagine that this would be the case.

  • Macbook PRO can't find ANY Wifi network - only at home

Hi, i have a very strange problem with my *Macbook Pro*. I have 3 apple computers at home and one pc. On all machines Wifi works fine, except my new alu Macbook Pro. Important note is, when im with my macbook on other place, office, caffe, *Wifi works fine. But when im at home, this macbook simply can't find ANY network, it's blind.* Interesting thing is, all other computers are several years old and WiFi works fine on them. My friend also bought a brand new macbook pro, and this machine also couldn't fine any network at my home, or in other case when it found networks, it couldn't connect and recieve error message "Connection timed out". I noticed there is new Wifi network in our range, is it possible that this network can cause "blindness" on new macbooks?

*I have to say, I'm really glad you are trying to help guys.*
Well, router is almost on default settings, SSID is brodcasted and i'm not filtering MAC adresses. I tried changed channels, diffrent types of security or no security, no luck.
Guys, maybe i wrote it wrong, but this MacBook can't see ANY network. Around me there are 4-6 other networks which I'm able to see from other machines. So *problem is, this Macbook can't seen ANY network - not just mine.* BUT when i'm with this Macbook in office for example, or any other location, Wifi works....
And one more important thing, this happened suddenly. I was able few months ago to find any WiFi around me with this Macbook. No changes to router, no changes to mac. Problem is somwhere in the middle...try to focus on this: why i'm not able to see any of those cca 6 networks around me. I really think it has to do something with distorted signal and Wifi card used in new macbooks. It's really sick, because all other machines works perfectly (MB 07, MBP 06, PC, iPhone 3g)
I found a log on the router, and it's happening all the time:
