Macbook Pro CD ROM not working!!

I have a 2009 Macbook Pro. Unfortunately the CD rom suddenly doesnt read or reconise any CD i insert in it. I insert the CD it makes a noise but nothing shows up on the desktop or on iTunes and a few minutes later it spits it out.
Can someone please tell me how to fix this.
Thanks in advance.

Often the lens is dirty and needs to be cleaned.  Use a lens cleaning DVD, try a few shots of compressed air into the slot or use a fine microfiber cloth wrapped around a business card and gently insert it inside the slot.
If that does not resuscitate the drive, then it may need replacement.
Ciao.

You haven't identified the version so I can't tell if offering you contact options for Adobe Support will be of use to you.  But they will likely be your only hope of getting resolution unless you just happen to be using the wrong number as the serial number.

  • Macbook Pro intranet will not work on iPads

I'm trying to set up an intranet network hosted on my MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion 10.8.5.  I have created a local web site hosted in the Apache server on the MBP, and I want 5 iPads to access it.  Its event photos for sale.  The problem is, the site shows up on the iPads ok, but when I tap a photo to enlarge it, it hesitates, then the browser crashes, every time, no matter what browser is used.
I'm using an Airport Extreme for the wifi.  The problem occurs whether connected to the internet or not.  I tried connecting the Airport to the MBP with an ethernet cable, and making a whole new intranet network on the Airport, and it still does the same thing, despite trying a lot of different configurations.  So, I got a MAMP server, and it still did not help.  I need it to work offline because the events I photograph rarely have internet access.  I've tried using the peer-to-peer connection with the same result.
I have used the exact same system hosted on my iMac (identical operating system) with no problems.
I can't figure out what is wrong, any help would be appreciated!

  • 2008 Macbook pro left click not working properly after upgrading to 10.6.8

I have a 2008 Macbook pro and a few months ago after upgrading to 10.6.8 my left click has been wonky.
Using the trackpad the left click eventually gets "stuck" or stops responding and I have to push it multiple times before it does anything.  I have tried plugging in a mouse, but when I do so the mouse also behaves the same way.  The only way I seem to be able to get the clicking to work properly is to restart the computer with the mouse attached.
I have seen threads about trackpads being messed up by swollen batteries, but my battery is brand new and looks fine, and the clicking problem extends to an external mouse, so I believe it is something with the preferences.
I tried deleting  com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouchTrackpad.plist   and restarting and the problem seemed to be fixed, but then after about a half hour it returned.
Having to keep a mouse plugged into my macbook is driving me crazy, anyone know a solution?

I started having the same issue after update.  I'm on a MacBookpro running 10.7.2
ICalled apple and they did a remove battery reboot, a reload lion and a option/command/R/P reboot on startup and then the computer started working.  Two days later problem was back.  I then did a reboot and the computer was back to working.  Today the computer worked fine tell it went to sleep.  I had to do a hard reboot to get the Mac up and running and now no left click.  Please help. I can not use the Mac  with the trackpad, a mouse, a Bluetooth mouse, or a digital pad. All so signs of left mouse click not working.  One other item when you go to pick your user at startup the left mouse click works.  Help!

  • 2007 MacBook Pro ctrl key not working

    Hi all,
I have used various iterations of bootcamp with my 2007 macbook pro without problem. I have also sucessfully installed Windows 7 64-bit using bootcamp and got it working almost perfectly (sound, video, magic mouse) despite it not officially being supported by the version of bootcamp that came with Snow Leopard.
My only problem now is that the control lkey isn't working. I've tried various keymappers to map it to another key (generally the Apple key) to no avail. And when I say it isn't working, I mean it's not working at all. Key mappers don't recognise when I tap it, I can't Ctrl-C to copy or Ctrl-anything to anything.
I have installed the Apple keyboard driver and everything else works perfectly, including the F-keys, Fn, alt and the Apple key (which opens the start menu). Any suggestions for how I could fix this would be greatfully received.
    Thanks,
    Alexis

Sadly it turns out that it's not working in OS X either. I had convinced myself it was a software issue but it is apparently hardware. Shows how seldom the control key's used in OS X doesn't it.
If anyone has any suggestions as to how I might have a bash at fixing it, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Alexis

  • Using EarPods Mic with MacBook Pro 17" (2012) - not working

    hello,
FYI: computer is the early 2012 MacBook Pro - last of the 17" models. it has the 2 separate jacks... one for audio/mic IN and one for headphone OUT. not combined like in the smaller models.
FYI: using a brand new (early 2013) pair of EarPods that came with a new iPhone 5.
i love using the earpods plugged in to the headphone jack to listen to music whilst working. and i also use it to "listen" when doing video conferencing via Skype, iChat/Messages, & Hangout.
but when i'm in a noisier environment (cafe), it would be nice for the other people i'm talking to to hear be better than what the built-in mic can provide. people tell me they hear me great using the earpods when talking thru my iPhone in the same locations.
so, i thought, okay, i'll just get a Y-splitter/adapter... female input to 2 male outputs. recognizing that the earpods have 3 rings on the mini-jack (2 for stereo headphones & 1 for mic, i presume), i made sure the adapter male ends had at least 2 rings on them. found one at Radio Shack.
but it does not work! :-(
discovered audio output comes thru fine, but the computer doesn't recognize the mic input.
i've gone to System Preferences > Sound > Input...
and changed the selection from "Internal Microphone - Built-in" to "Line In - Audio line-in port" but the level meter just goes dead.
i've done some reading about the MBP only allowing "line level in" vs "mic level in" but i don't know what that means.
can this work? if not, why?
am i just missing some setting somewhere? if so, what?
do i need some different kind of adapter? if so, please point me to one.
    THANKS!!!

Good that it was a simple solution. I've had some of the mice lose the BT association  and you have to clear out the configs and re-pair the two.

  • NEW macbook pro power cord not working

I just bought my macbook pro 3 weeks ago and for some reason my power cord is not working to charge the computer. There doesn't appear to be any damage to it and I've tried plugging it in to different outlets etc. and no luck. I noticed one day that it was blinking on and off from charging and not charging and then the next day it just stopped working completely. Is this a common thing? Should I just go buy a new one?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Your power adaptor is under warranty as well as your new Mac. If it isn't working, Apple should replace it for free under warranty.
You might want to try resetting the SMC:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411?viewlocale=en_US
This is likely the first thing they would do at the Apple Store, and it may well solve the charging problem.
    Good luck!

  • New Macbook Pro number keys not working

    Hi everyone,
I have a brand new macbook pro (running 10.6.4) who's number keys suddenly stopped working. The keys from 1 through 9 do not respond at all. Neither does holding down shift, while pressing them. The key rows below and above them work fine. I have the newest updates on the machine, and have restarted multiple times.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

This same issue happens to me frequently. I've lived with it for the most part just because I didn't want to spend my time running down Apple's glitch. I can not tell if it is a hardware, firmware, or software issue. I have a case number which is 163792369 that I've had since June. I've never taken it in because it is not consistent. I'm leaning towards an OS glitch. I have searched Apple's archives and found one reference to it happening on an earlier version of OS-X, but I was afraid to install the patch because of version differences. Please let me know if you get a solution from the customer support. It is somewhat frustrating as this is my first experience with a Mac and I understand it's a complex piece of machinery from a hardware and software perspective, but fresh out of the box the freak'in keys should work.
    Thanks,
    Shawn A. Peterson
It just works??? Most of the time.

  • Macbook Pro – Some Keys Not Working!

    Hi
    I'm running a 15-inch ( mid 2010 ) Macbook Pro with OS X 10.8.5.
Some of my keys have stopped working.
I've been throughout his forum but found nothing that helps.
The 't' key sometimes does nothing and sometimes this... IORTUY
other keys that dont work are: number 5, hypens, square brackets and volume up.
    Random I know.
    Anyone experienced this?
    Thanks
    B

    I'm on a MacBookPro8,2,
    Intel Core i7 2.3 GHz
    Boot ROM Version:          MBP81.0047.B27
    SMC Version (system):          1.69f4
    OS X 10.9.2 (13C64)
I have the same issue with some of my keys, it comes and goes, but it's mostly there.
I have to carry a small Bluetooth keyboard with me now, this really *****.
I'm paranoid thinking this might have something to do with a keylogger process, or maybe just some process in the system that keeps taking all the IO bandwidth for the keyboard, I don't think it's hardware related
I've installed an antivirus and performed an exhaustive scan and found nothing wrong.
When I started typing this post I had to go and get the external keyboard, now I'm typing back again with the keyboard, no clue what might be causing it.
