Macbook pro charger isn't working

my macbook pro charger been not working these few days.i've got no idea what to do with it.i've been using this mac for around 2 years so i don't know if it's under guarantee..how much does it cost me to repair the charger ? or should i just buy a new one ?

If you have bought AppleCare Extended Warranty, MBP is in warranty for 3years
from the date of purchase.
Best thing to do, is to take the MBP to the Apple store for evaluation and possible repair / replacement.
Try Reset SMC.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

  • MacBook Pro Charger - Intermittantly Stops Working

    Hi All,
I have had my macbook pro now for just over a year and unlucky for me im 20 days out of my 1 year warrenty and now not entitle to upgrade to apple care because of this when i phoned techincal support
The macbook pro charger is working intermittantly so it isnt completely dead.
if i wiggle it around or sit the cables just right it will work but it isnt working 1005 off the time like it used to.
I have a 2010 macbook pro with the L shape charger. I have manager to get another old style T shape charger off my friend which works perfectly with my macbook pro but will this harm my battery life because im using an "older" charger? but its brand new. also do you think its worth going into my local apple store in milton keynes to see if they can help me at all? as my gripe is you pay £1000 for a laptop and one year on the charger brakes. And i do look after my equipment. Its not like i throw it about or mistreat it.
I think it could of happened early if i used it more.
    Is this a common fault?
    Thanks
    Daniel

  • My macbook pro charger does not work!! I have extended warranty/Guarantee from the store, do they exchange or give me a new one?

    Hi,
There is a problem with my MacBook Pro Charger. It was working for a few months, but then it just doesnt work. My laptop doesnt charge!!
I have an extended guarantee from the store, i got my laptop, does it apply Warrantee/Guarantee? There is no problem with my laptop, cause it charges all fine with my wife's charger!
    Thanks

In as much as we here are not the store the best thing to do is bring it back and have them give you a new one. You should be most certainly covered under warranty. (As long as your dog didn't eat it).

  • MacBook Pro charger won't work

My new macbook pro's charger stopped working. I tried switching outlets to see if it would work but it didn't. Also I noticed something strange, when I plug in the MacBook into different outlets the LED on the charger turns on for one second then doesn't work (Does anyone know why this happen and if there's a fix?). Also is there a way I can check if the problem is within the MacBook or the charger. I can't really go to an apple store so please don't say call apple or go to the store, and I dont have any other computers to check if the charger works on, thanks in advance. I hope there's a way to fix this problem. I tried cleaning the MagSafe place and tried SMC reset, anything else I can do?

If this is a new MacBook Pro, do you mean new to you since Apple no longer sells the MBP with Mac OS X 10.7.3  That would be at least a three year old machine.
If the Apple store is not an option, you will have to call Apple for help, try the AppleCare support number from http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 or start a service request by going to the ExpressLane at https://expresslane.apple.com

  • Macbook pro charger doesn't work!

My charger worked ten minutes ago and suddenly it stopped working. I got the macbook pro a year ago, I am wondering if I can still exchange my charger for a new one at the apple store? What do I need to bring to the store?

Before jumping to the conclusion that your adapter must be replaced, follow the steps in this article:

  • Macbook Pro Keyboard isn't working.

When I log on to the PC side of my macbook pro the keyboard doesn't work! The mouse works, it's just the keyboard. The light when I press CapsLock also doesn't light up.
But! When I switch to the mac side, my keyboard works there!
If I plug in a keyboard to the usp port, it works as well. (On the PC side)
I have no idea why all of a sudden it is doing this, it worked fine yesterday. This Macbook pro is brand new, I got it in June. It also has an iskin on the keyboard and nothing has been spilled on the keyboard.

    Sad to hear this.
    Liquid damage is progressive.
You can take the computer to the nearest Apple store and see what can they do for you.

  • Macbook pro charge cord stopped working & shuts off unexpectedly

    Hello,
All of a sudden, my charge cord has stopped working - I'm not sure if it's my actual computer or the cord.  It does not light up at all anymore and the battery icon says "not charging" sometimes.  It also will shut off unexpectedly and when I manually turn it on I get this message "can't verify the identify of the website" and the clock gets set back....help

Does your MBP get HOT when you are playing games, as they use quite a bit it the way computing cycles and generate a lot of heat.  I had this issue with my kids machine, try rasing the MBP up off ahy hard surface you mat have it on while playing. (I used 2 1"X1" strips of wood the increase air flow around the machine. The exhaust vents are in the back under the hinge, keep yhem clear. This simple fix seemed to work, no more problems. There also cooling trays with fans that are commecially avaiable. Are your fans spinnig up to cool the MBP? If not you might want to try a smc reset which controls the fans.
    SMC Reset: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Hope this helps

  • Macbook pro charger wont work AT ALL!

Words cannot even explain how furious I am. My 9 month old MacBook Pro charger does not work, all of a sudden!
There is no damage to the charger at all and my laptop is in great condition. I need a solution and fast because this laptop has my whole life on it which leaves me irritated seeming i need it for my studies!! I don't know what to do, its 4am in the morning in australia and my laptop is completely dead! HELP!!!!!

Take your computer and power adapter to the Apple Store when it opens in the morning and they will take care of it.
This problem is often caused by winding the DC (computer-end) of the cord directly around the "ears" on the body of the power adapter. The "approved method" is to make a one to two inch (25-50mm) loop in the air, THEN begin winding the cord.
I bought my wife an aftermarket car-charger for her MacBook. In addition to being able to use the computer for a while in the car, now we have a backup. If the regular charger dies, we can recharge the 'Book off the car.

  • Hello.  I recently pieced together a late 2008 MacBook Pro 15".  Everything works fine except the battery constantly goes between "not charging" and "calculating" or, rarely "charging". It does charge after a long while and will report that it is charged.

I have reset the NVRAM and the SMC a couple of time but that didn't work so I ran an Apple Hardware Test and while testing the logic board it gives the following error:
    4SNS/1/40000000 LB1T
I've done some research and found this is a temperature sensor related to the battery, but cannot find where the sensor is located in the computer.  Would you know how I can find the sensor to test it?  Could my battery problem be related to something else?  Would a fresh install of Lion help?
    Thank you!
    Mike
Two pieces of information that may or may not b helpful, the hard drive is from my early 2008 MBP and the only test disc I have access to is from an iMac.

Why do you have LION installed on that older machine?
So you say you built a macbook from a bucket of parts eh?   Kudos
heres a pic of the battery temp sensor

  • MacBook Pro Charger not working, end of cord before the magnet part got detached from it.

for past an hour, my MacBook Pro charger stopped working so took the charger off and tried to fix it a bit by fixing the corn and straightening it or something.. Suddenly, the end of the cord, just before the magnet part, got detached from the magnet part with the pins and all.
i Tried to attach it back, and even if it did enter, I don't think it would continue to charge..
Is there anyway to fix this? Or do I have to get a new charger (which has to be my last resort, because I don't want to have to repair it by removing parts etc etc, or really pay money)

No and yes.  A new charger is in your future.
    Ciao.

  • Early 2013 Macbook Pro Retina 2.7 i7 512GB SSD and 16gb Ram with Serious Cuda Problems! Trying to teach Apple their Macbook Pro Retina isn't a Pro Jan. 11. 2015.

Apple replaced the logic board, wiped the computer, did a fresh instal of the OS, and also a fresh instal of all the programs during the beginning of 2015. The GeekBench scores are the highest of any of the similar computers (at least on the day of my testing). But here's what's happening. The Macbook Pro Retina has a GeForce GT 650m with Cuda Technology and it can't handle editing in Premiere Pro with Cuda Acceleration turned on. Open CL, a second form of graphic acceleration on the Macbook Pro, appears to be functioning properly.
At the Apple Store on 1-10-2015, I was told that since the logic board and the graphic cards have been replaced that there is nothing they can do and they recommend contacting Corporate. This comes after they told me to buy a new logic board and that that would solve the problem. This comes after Apple did not listen, for over a month, about the possibility that they didn't properly build a professional notebook computer.
The computer displays a black program monitor screen, at random times, when the user edits footage with Cuda Acceleration enabled. It used to lead to an entire system crash and/or a Premiere Pro crash before the operating system was completely re-installed. My solution, since I bought the computer, was to edit in Open CL... However, I've come to learn that there is a major difference in performance between Open CL and Cuda Acceleration.
For the Macbook Pro Retina, Adobe Media Encoder render times are about 20% faster with Cuda Acceleration than Open CL. The 2013 Macbook Pro Retina appears to be able to handle Cuda Acceleration in Media Encoder, but I have had a number of issues leading to program crashes on every project before the new logic board and operating system were installed. For over a year and a half, I actually never used Cuda Acceleration. Having sent every crash report and user data to Apple over that time, I truly expected an update of some sorts and it never came.
FYI: The latest Macbook Pro Retina uses the GeForce GT 750m... This is essentially the same graphic card that performs about 10 - 20% faster due to a new "boost mode." More importantly, it actually has the exact same number of Cuda cores. Having the same number of Cuda Cores means that the Cuda Acceleration is essentially the same when exporting or viewing video. To prove a point to Apple that their 2013 Macbook Pro Retina isn't functioning properly, I bought the latest computer with the 2.5 i7, 16gb Ram, 512gb SSD and I can honestly say that the 2014 model works perfectly fine with Cuda Acceleration turned on while editing in Premiere. I can also say that a proper render test proved the 2013 and 2014 model to be the exact same.
I'm new to this whole pay $2700 for a computer that your manufacturer didn't / can't test properly, so I will be contacting Apple and speaking with Senior Advisors, their Customer Support division, and will soon speak with their Corporate branch. I'm confident that the Early 2013 Macbook Pro Retina with a 2.7 i7 16gb Ram and a 512 SSD is nearly the same at rendering video and editing video, provided the Cuda Acceleration works, as their latest 2014 Macbook Pro Retina with the 2.5 i7 processor 16gb Ram, and a 512 SSD. It's truly a great computer and a great build, minus their current inability to properly test / diagnose their computer.
Knowing that the latest graphic card in the Macbook Pro lineup is essentially the same model, I feel that Apple is not directly looking into the viability and life span of their current Macbook Pro Retina product line. They can't test for performance issues relating to their graphic cards, so why consider buying from them when the end user is actually in a position to experience up to a 20% decrease in certain professional programs.
For future reference, I'd strongly urge other individuals to avoid purchasing Apple products if they offer Cuda Technology. In my opinion, Apple is an Open CL organization, at best, who is not responsibly manufacturing / producing computers that fit their organization's strengths. For a fact, they can't test their Cuda Technology and won't even attempt to address Cuda Acceleration errors for Apple owners (01-11-2015). I say this having walked out of the Apple Store on 1-10-2015 with virtually no support other than to contact Corporate.

    Looks like a RAM issue.

  • Macbook pro charger- burning out.  surveyish?

i have already swapped my macbook pro charger out twice, as after 2 months they tend to stop working, and the problem is the little place where the wire meets the magnetic connector. i know that bending it ruins its durability and life, so i tried to not do that. i thought i did it pretty successfully, until my first charger burnt out after it got extremely hot. it would stop charging for periods at a time, and there were places in the wire, specifically where it met the power brick and connector, where you could see right to the copper/ whatever the **** material it is because it got so hot that it melted the plastic. the apple store has replaced it twice, and i am about to go in for the 3RD charger. does anyone have a recommendation on something that would hold the wire still inbetween the connector and full wire? and who else has had this problem? there isnt a problem with the mbp, its just the connectors suck as5 and blow out.

    Ditto over here.
My connector-cable junction has always been slightly twisted. It's a more complex curve than just a twist, but wasn't perfect from the factory for sure.
The plastic jacket has now just torn this week and there's braided shielding and lots of unsavory bits showing.
Oh, and it started to singe a cushion it was touching. It was starting to burn.
Very antithetical to the "It just works" vibe.
"It just burns" is more like it. =:o
Seems like this particular Achilles heel didn't get much field testing before it was unleashed.
Wasn't the Mag-Safe connector supposed to put an end to the whole problem of a $3,000 laptop being felled by a $1.79 connector/jacket on the AC adapter?
I'm on batteries four and five as of this writing, so the topic of power management and the MBP is getting to be a rather sore subject.
Will try to swap it out at work or might have to belly up to the Genius Bar.
