MacBook Pro Clock/Time Glitch Setting All program clocks to 11:03!!! Help!

In the past few months my macbook pro has been changing all of my time/date stamps in skype, entourage and other assorted software programs to the time of 11:03. This happens when the date switches in skype, it's every "date modified" time stamp in my finder...it's what time EVERY EMAIL i receive is stamped. It's making things impossible...I have no idea why it's happening and cannot seem to find a fix anywhere. Any ideas, fixes, support would be much appreciated.

  • MacBook Pro startup time is taking 10 or more minutes!! Help!!!

My Macbook is taking 10 to 15 minutes to boot up. The apps also take a super long time to open. I've tried everything, hard erase, boot from installation disk, safe boot, zap pram, repair disk and permissions, single user mode, nothing works. Disk has plenty of space. Worked fine for a while after my hard erase. Then once I began to install things back on, the same issues started happening. I'm a designer, and I use adobe programs. These along with other apps just keeps bouncing, stops bouncing, then opens 5 minutes later. Please help
    OS X 10.9
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Did that. They rad the free diagnostic didn't find anything wrong. So the just completely wiped everything out. Worked for a few days. Then once I started adding my apps and files back on, the same issues returned

  • My macbook pro shuts down OSX and all my programs when the lid is closed

    Hi,
I am having a problem. My macbook pro shuts down OSX and all my programs when the lid is closed. I close the lid, and then I hear the shutdown music and then when I open it again it automatically restarts OSX and all my windows and programs are closed, any info gone.
This doesn't happen all the time. Just once a day or maybe twice a day. It seems like it happens basically when I have my computer just the way I want it, to keep an eye on things for the day.
I just recently switched to a mac and while somewhat savvy, I am not a programmer or techie, but it seems to me that when I shut the lid, it should do the same thing every time.
I have a intel core 2 duo 17 inch macbook pro with 2.33 processr and 2 gig ram, if that helps.
I am in alaska and there is no genius bar here and I am hoping to figure this out before I begin bugging our local independant mac store about this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Lylah

    Ahhh, enlightenment!
That would make sense. What I usually do, after closing the lid, is to wait for the apple to turn off and then set it down on it's side leaning it against the side table. I will try to wait for it to indicate that it is fully asleep before I move it next time. Personally, I prefer my computer to NOT fall asleep at all, but I am told it is not an option. Apparently this function is hardware related accoring to my local mac shop. They tracked it down for me because I hated this feature when I first bought my computer and was trying some way around it.
The shutdown music I was refering to was that music the mac makes when shutting down, which doesnt usually occur when it goes to sleep, unless it is malfunctioning like this.
What does resetting the pmu do? (what is a pmu as well?)
    Thank you very much.

  • HT4436 how do I set up an icloud account on my macbook pro with 10.6.8 - all it has is mobile me under internet and wireless????

help, how do I set up an icloud account on my macbook pro with 10.6.8 — all it has is "mobile me" under internet and wireless on my system doc????

You should check that your Mac meets the requirements for upgrading.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
To purchase it you will have to ring Apple at the number given at the bottom left of this page.
The requirements for Mountain Lion are listed here:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
It is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications).
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

  • I got a new Macbook pro in March and transferred all of my old files into the new macbook from my old one. But ever since then, my iPhoto just does not open up. It says 'error' every time I try to open it, but I am still able to attach the iPhotos saved

I got a new Macbook pro in March and transferred all of my old files into the new macbook from my old one. But ever since then, my iPhoto just does not open up. It says 'error' every time I try to open it, but I am still able to attach the iPhotos saved to emails. Help! How do I get my iPhoto back?

    Thanks, Sig.
The old computer is a 2.6 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
The new one is a 2.3 GHz intel core i7
In going over this, thanks to "tallking it out" with you, I did discover the Text Edit problem.  Because I've still been unable to get the new computer text size (fonts or whatever) to match the old computer, I did not notice that the curser is now different--the line midway down the curser has to be placed on the line I am working upon, otherwise the edits go elsewhere on the page.  Now, with a bit of difficulty, I am able to get Text Edit to work correctly.
If you have any ideas as to why my menu bar and Text Edit type are still so slow, I'd love to have them.
(I went through the process you suggested earlier, re my Trackpad preferences, and found no improvement.)

Try deleting the printer, deleting the job queue and reinstalling the printer again.

I've already set up my new MacBook Pro, I want to migrate all my stuff from my old MacBook OS X 10.6.4. Will the migration wipe out the settings in the new computer?

Of course not. Migration Assistant will create a new user with the transferred files and settings, so your MacBook Pro won't get messed > http://pondini.org/OSX/MigrateLion.html
You may want to merge both users > https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-5472

  • Macbook pro graphics card glitch?

Every now and again on my laptop (13 in, mid 2010 macbook pro) the screen glitches for a second. The visual will get distorted and there will be white boxes all over the place and then it will revert back to normal. Should I be concerned?

Hi Again -- I will check in with the store when I am there tomorrow (I have an appointment) and see what my options are. I'm not good at keeping up with announcements, I usually just look for information when something is going wrong. I definitely did not get any notifications or emails from Apple about a replacement program, I would have seen that. I am not sure if they do that, though? My MacBook Pro is registered and everything.
As for voicing threats, I was never intending to threaten anybody or impress anybody. I came here because I have little experience and knowledge about this, all I have to go off of is some research I have done recently about the issue, and other than that I am really quite lost and would love some support and advice from people with expertise. As for my complaining, yes, I am frustrated and I did voice that. I'm sorry if it was offensive. I am new to the forum (as of an hour ago) and I am not familiar with how the forum works or what is or isn't allowed. I won't respond to the PC/Mac question, as you indicated that is not what this forum is for anyways.
I may be new to this and don't know what I am talking about, but that is exactly why I came on here. Responding in a way that makes me feel unwelcome and even more lost and unsupported is your choice, but I honestly am a long-time loyal apple customer who is just frustrated and looking for help. Even a link to a forum or more information about that replacement program would be helpful. I'm trying to bring what I can to my appointment tomorrow.
As for this apple "support" community, I think being on here an hour has been long enough. And no, that isn't a "threat" or an attempt to impress anybody. It's a blunt, honest comment based on the lack of support I have felt by being on here.

Care to share which OS you are using?
OS has its own dictation program.
Should I purchase Dragon Premium or Dragon for Mac?
Only you can make that determination.  Read the system requirements for both and read the reviews.

What to do before selling or giving away your Mac
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
