MacBook Pro compatible scanner ?

My apologies if I am repeating what other's may have submitted, but I couldn't find what I was looking for so maybe someone can point me in the right direction or provide the best solution for my needs?  I just bought a MacBook Pro and would love to scan all the photo albums my dad has dating back to the Korean War and throughout the years we grew up.  I want to scan the pictures (many in black and white) so I can put them on the digital picture frames for each of my brothers/sisters.  I know nothing about scanners. I'm not a professional in any sense of the word, but would like the best possible quality scan in order for it to look its best on the digital picture frame which will be about the size of 8.5X11.  The photo's in each of the albums are predominantly 4X6 with  some being 9X10 (?) maybe?  Any further questions feel free to ask....thank you!
Donna

It appears that it is not, this page shows only Windows support, do not download any windows drivers.
It says the following systems are compatible, all Windows.

  • MacBook Pro compatible with 3G iPod (five-button)????

Any chance that my 3G iPod (the one with four buttons and the wheel) will be compatible with my new MacBook Pro? I'd have to at least buy a Firewire 400 to Firewire 800 converter. But there's no point in buying one if the iPod won't otherwise be compatible.
    Your thoughts??

I can't see why it wouldn't be compatible, yes all new iPods and the like are now USB. But that was a move to encompass the world of Windows computers which tend not to have FW ports.
The main problem I see is the iPod cable has a FW400 plug on it so you need a FW400 socket to plug it into. A FW800 to FW400 cable won't be much use as that is just plug to plug. You would then need a FW Hub to plug into so that you can then plug the iPod cable into that. Or if you have something like a like an external FW drive they usually have a couple of sockets on them. So you could use a FW800 to FW400 to connect the drive and then plug the iPod into the drives other FW400 socket.
I did a very quick search but did not come up with a FW800 plug to FW400 socket, they may exist somewhere?
    Sorry I can't help further.

  • Is my mid 2010 macbook pro compatible with apple tv?

I just purchased apple tv and am having trouble with airplay are mirroring?  I need to know if my mid 2010 macbook pro and ipad 2 are compatiable?  Because so far the only thing i am able to get on my apple tv is my music.  I am unable to mirror any of my pics or applications.
    Help please!!

It has a newer processor that is capable of video encoding.
AirPlay Mirroring in OS X takes advantage of the hardware video encoding capabilities of 2nd and 3rd Generation Intel Core processors. Hardware video encoding allows AirPlay Mirroring to efficiently deliver high frame rates while maintaining optimal system performance.

    Yes
or will it blow up? lol
    No
The other way around (Macbook charger on a Macbook Pro) may have mixed results. The Macbook charger may not be able to meet the power demands of the MBP, preventing it from charging.

  • External Firewire Buss For Macbook Pro?

Im involved in audio and im running an A/D converter via my FW400 that is a bit annoying as it seems to dislike networking other hardware over the same buss (i found this out after buying an external HD, connecting it via the FW800 and whenever it would read from the disk the system would crash and demand a restart.)
im planning on buying a piece of DSP hardware that runs off FW400 that will need to run simultaneously alongside the A/D Converter) i figured i would need a seperate firewire buss too do this..but how would i go about that when using a macbook pro? and would i have to install it in the computer or could i run it externally?
    thanks for your help

  • Macbook Pro & Projectors

Hey everyone.. I am thinking of purchasing a new macbook pro before getting to university but i wanted to double check on a little facts. Are the new macbook pro compatible with most of the projectors or will i have find difficulty? I am asking this questions since there will be a lot of presentations that will require me to connect my laptop to the projectors. If there is a software that make it compatible please tell me. Thanks for all the help.
    Ash.

I have used the MacBook Pro with projectors without any problems at all. The only thing to watch out for is remembering your DVI-VGA connector since most schools have older projectors that don't have DVI inputs. The connector comes with the computer, so it's not something you have to purchase separately; just make sure it's in your computer bag on presentation day.

  • CanoScan 9000F scanner won't work on my MacBook Pro even though it should be compatible with the Mac 10.7.2 OS.

My new CanoScan 900F scanner won't work on my MacBook Pro even though I've followed all instructions to make it compatible with the 10.7.2 OS. The USB connection isn't recognised. What else con I do?

I have a similar problem with a new CanoScan 9000F which I tried to use without any success on my desktop computer (Mac Pro 5,1) and laptop (Macbook Pro 1,2) both running OS 10.6. Problem is identical on both, viz:
        •    Scanning process appears to start, a message comes on the screen: Scanning do not open document cover followed by Scanning...
        •    This is then replaced by the message: Cannot communicate with scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off. Check status. Scanner driver will be closed. 2.155.33
I've spent several hours on the phone with Canon support but having uninstalled/installed/reinstalled/updated/turned on/turned off/unplugged/plugged/restarted innumerable times, the problem is exactly the same. The scanner icon shows up in the Printer & Fax System Prefs (though without the little status lights) and shows as being connected in the USB tree. I think it's a problem with the scanner, Canon bods are suggesting the Macs are at fault and suggest I try connecting to a wintel (hawk, spit) and it's 100km to the nearest Canon service centre.
Any suggestions as to what might be the problem/s and what I might be able to do to fix it/them?
    Thanks.
By the way, bought the Canon to replace a HP Scanjet 8300 which I've used for 6 years almost without problems. Any that I have had have been fixed merely by turning the scanner off then on after a 10 second rest.

For that model, Epson has this information:
    ICA Scanner Driver
    07/17/12
Description: The latest Mac OS X ICA scanner driver for your Epson product is available only via Apple's Software Update. Here's how to get it:
    1. Connect the all-in-one or scanner to your Mac and power it on.
    2. Select the  menu, then Software Update.
    3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the available updates.
Note: Software Updates may find multiple updates for your system. You may choose to install all or some of the updates by clicking on Show Details.

  • I need to run a old scanner with my macbook pro

    Hi
I just got an old Imacon Photo scanner, which uses the software "flexcolor 4.0.4 mac". The latest mac OS the software is compatible with would be 10.5.x (leopard).
I was wondering, how I could get the scanner going with my set-up:
My primary mac is a macbook pro (10.9.4), which is way to modern for the mentioned software. When buying the scanner it came with a mac g4 tower, which has an OS (10.4.11) that is able to run the software. I have no screen for the tower, though.
I was thinking about the following solutions:
    1. Get parallels on my macbook pro, and then run the software with leopard. The tricky part is the fact that the only connection to the scanner is with a scsi cabel, and there is no scsi card in my macbook pro.
    2. Use the mac g4 tower with the scanner (which works), and then use the macbook pro as a monitor, if that is possible?
    3. The easy solution, buy a screen for the mac g4 tower, and only run the scanner through that. (but it is slow)
    about the software:
    System Requirements
Mac OS X vers.10.2.1 to 10.5.x (Leopard) is supported.
    Compatibility
FlexColor 4.0.4 does not support SCSI on Intel based Macs.
Make sure before upgrading to OS 10.5 ( Leopard ), that your SCSI card is supported under this OS.
This and future version(s) will not offer support for OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)

    thanks,
    Deniz Gül

OK, missed the SCSI requirement - go tohttps://www.google.com/#q=scsi+to+usb+adapter and look at the SCSI to USB adapter cables to connect the scanner to the Mac.

There's a new driver bundle for OSX 10.6 that you might need to install, the HP link seems to be failing at the moment but there's a version of it here: HP_Installer_Scanjet_v2.4.3_Ph4.dmg
There's a piece on the HP Forum about it here (some folks have problems installing ...)
