MacBook Pro crashes after 10.10.2 update
Hello! I have been shearing for help and "fighting" with my 15" Mid 2014 Retina MacBook Pro.
When I try to play (example. Goat Simulator, S-Tuner [<- on web] etc..) my mac crasher after getting freeze and getting weird colored triangles to screen. I can take pic of it if needed!! This can happen almost everywhere, but usually on "heavy" usage. Sometimes it happens when I try to log in. Few hours ago I did have to restart my laptop six times before I did manage to log in. These usually appears when the computer crashes.
kernel[0]: BUG in process suhelperd[NNN]: over-released legacy external boost assertions (1 total, 1 external, 0 legacy-external)
And there is usually +-100 of those. Also I get huuuuge amount of these
watchdogd[371]: [watchdog_daemon] @( wd_watchdog_open) - IOIteratorNext failed (kr=0)
watchdogd[371]: [watchdog_daemon] @( wd_daemon_init) - could not initialize the hardware watchdog
watchdogd[371]: [watchdog_daemon] @( main) - cannot initialize the watchdog service
And these
bird[10574]: Assertion failed: ![_xpcClients containsObject:client]
And also these
2.2.2015 4.15.44,896 Console[178]: CGSSetSurfaceShape failed - error 268435459 (window:40, surface:830689944, bounds:{{221, 28}, {16, 680}}
Can anyone help me?
Ps: Sorry for my spelling.
Best regards, Juuso from Finland

Macbook Pro crashing after 10.5.5 update
I updated to 10.5.5 last week and since then my macbook pro has been crashing. I am not sure the two things are related, but it wasn't crashing before then.
I'm really not sure what is happening because all 4 times that it has happened so far I have been away from the computer. I come back and the computer is simply off.
I've checked the logs and there is no indication of what is going on. (and nothing similar in the logs previous to all 4 crashes)
Model Name: MacBook Pro 15"
Model Identifier: MacBookPro1,1
Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 2 MB
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Boot ROM Version: MBP11.0055.B08
SMC Version: 1.2f10
Serial Number: SystemSerialNumb
Sudden Motion Sensor:
State: Enabled
I checked and repaired permissions. I had it check the harddrive. I'm not sure what else I should look for...
I would normally just take it to the genius bar but I am in France for 3 months and do not have access to one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't tried it yet. I'm wondering if my computer is overheating and that is causing the problem. I'm running code on my laptop. I know it gets very hot when I do that. I've been running the same code on my laptop for 2 years though. Anyway, I've been monitoring the temperatures and when I run the code the temperatures on the CPUs are running just under 100 C (around 96-98). I haven't been able to tell if this is too hot or not b/c many of the websites I have seen people don't seem to know the difference between celsius and fahrenheit.
If the computer was turning itself off because it is getting too hot, would that be in the logs?
Would it turn itself all the way off or just go to sleep? And wouldn't it do a proper shut down? (I know it isn't shutting down properly when this happens b/c the logs indicate improper shut down when I start it back up again.) -
my macbook pro crashes after a few minutes of playing a game or using photoshop? i just got it fixed motherboard. do i have to do an update?
There are no updates currently available beyond v10.8.4 for Mountain Lion.
Startup your Mac in Safe Mode
A Safe Mode boot takes a longer than a normal boot so be patient.
Once you are in Safe Mode, click Restart from the Apple () menu.
If that doesn't help, the startup disk may need repairing.
Turn the Mac off, wait about ten seconds then startup while holding down the Command + R keys. Let go of the keys when you see the spinning progress indicator.
From there you should be able to access the utilities in recovery mode to verify and repair the disk if necesssary, or reinstal OS.

My macbook pro crashed after installing maverick. I lost all my photos however the iPhone iPhoto app still has these photos so how can i access the package contents to recover these photos?
We'll need to know more to beable to help. Do you want to try to restore your photos from your iPhone to your Mac, or try to recover the photos from the old iPhoto Library on your Mac?
What is the situation of your Mac now? In hat way did it crash? A hardware problem with the drive? Does the system not start properly? Does iPhoto not launch? Do you still have the iPhoto Library on your mac or a backup, so we could try to rescue the photos there?
What versions of iPhoto are on your iPhone and your Mac?
however the iPhone iPhoto app still has these photos so how can i access the package contents to recover these photos?
On the iPhone you cannot access the "package contents" - IOS hides the file system from the users. To restore photos from your phone share all iPhoto photos to your Camera Roll, that are not already in the Camera Roll, and then connect the iPhone via USB and import the Camera Roll to iPhoto or Image Capture. Or use any of the other sharing methods described on thos manual page: see: Ways to share photos http://help.apple.com/iphoto/iphone/2.0/?handbuch#blnk7d8f763e
To retrieve photos from a corruptrd iPhoto Library on your Mac we need to know the version number and more about the "crash" you experienced, the state of your mac, the system, the data. Please post back with more details.

While running on battery, MacBook Pro crashes after a few minutes of use.
While running on battery, my MacBook Pro crashes (shuts down) after a few minutes (less than 10) of use. Battery indicator still says I have enough power (more than 75%) so it can't be related to the other reported issues with low battery crashes.
While on power adaptor, I don't have any issues.
I checked battery condition as suggested in all the forum threads I can find and its fine.
Running Lion 10.7.2PRAM reset did not resolve the issue

Macbook pro crashing after trying to update iWork's 2009
I am running Mountain Lion and have had iWorks 09 for some time however when I try and install the latest update for iWorks it causes my MacBook Pro to crash, any suggestions, please?
I found if I downloaded the softeware and installed it manually rather than doing the upgrade automatically through the App Store it worked OK. The upgrade was successful and when I go to the App Store and check my MacBook Pro there are now no upgrades.

Macbook Pro crashed after express slot usage. MBP will not startup.
Hello,
My Macbook Pro (MBP) 17" core2duo 2.8Ghz. Snow Leopard OSX10.6.3.
I use my MBP's Express card slot to transfer SxS video cards, and sometimes connect to eSata drives.
With each usage it seems to be unstable. Often when trying to eject card or adaptor it crashes showing a, turn off and restart computer message.
So I would restart computer, and I continue on. I was kind of used to this,,,
But this time around, my system did not start up after the reboot. It showed a "non-smoking sign without the cigarette" Sorry I don't know what you calll these. I think it means can't find system folder?
I hope someone can point me to a fix.
I did a PRam reset about 3 times. but no change.
I did a safe boot, and ran disk utility permissions and there were pleanty of wrong permissions... So I fixed that twice, the same permissions seemed to be wrong again. I don't know if it really fixed anything...
And I also tried to set startup disk to the internal hard disk. I don't know if that really made a difference...
I then relaunched it as a disk drive to read it on another mac, and ran disk utilities and it reported nothing is wrong with this disk...
Will reverting back to a time machine save do anything? Might give it a try.
I remember way back when I bought this MBP, One of the first trial with the SxS gave me the same "non-" sign on startup, that I fixed. So I know there is a fix, I just couldn't find it on the forum.
I hope I get my MBP running soon!
Thanks in advance for the help!
Takeshi Fukushima...it crashes showing a, turn off and restart computer message...
That is called a Kernel Panic. More here.

Correct.
Solutions:
Disconnect all peripherals. Start the computer with the Option key pressed. After a few seconds you will see the availale bootable systems. select with the arrow keys and press Return. If you can get the OS to load, go here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399. Download and install the combo Update.. Restart as normal. -
Macbook pro crashes after display is full of vertical stripes.
hello all.
I have a 2.2Ghz intel core duo 15" macbook pro, with mac os 10.4.11, bought in July 2007. never had any issues since.
about a year ago, i upgraded the RAM to 4G, no problems.
and then yesterday, it started happening. Crashes like i'd never seen before, the screen locks, vertical blue stripes on the display.
Have to force a reboot, and the second reboot usually doesn't work, i get the international message telling me that I need to reboot again.
then it boots up again, only for a little while.
the crashes happen at any moment, not using a specific program, can be while browsing with firefox, using VLC, using openoffice, anything.
I tried the disk utilities check up on the hard disk, and it was fine.
I did all the mac osx updates, but it still crashed.
I tried a clean of all caches etc with Onyx, but the problem persisted.
I tried zapping the PRAM, but it still crashed.
I tried removing the extra RAM i'd added a year ago, but it still crashed.
I booted on an external firewire 800 HDD i have with a backup system, but still got the crash...
seems to be the video card...
this couldn't have come at a worst time for me, as I'm currently flat broke AND with work to do.
I really really hope this can be fixed without having to send it to repairs.

Macbook Pro Crashing After Recent OSX Upgrade
I'm wondering if anyone out there is having issues with the new Seagate 750 drives crashing the MacBook Pro. I have four of them and all crash the Macbook even though they worked fine for the past two months. My only change was the new OSX 10.4.9 update. The drives all work fine on a Windows XP machine so it's not he drives. Wishing I wouldn't have loaded the new OSX. Any others out there with similar problems?
MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.7)can't say I've had trouble with my external drives.
1 - repair your permissions, you may need to do it more than once to be successful.
2 - reset your PRAM during boot, right after the startup sound, hold Option-Command-P-R until you hear the startup sound again, keep holding and wait for it a third time.
3 - try turning off all your external drives and waiting for about 10 minutes, then turn them all back on and plug in to the computer after they have all spun back up.
If you have these drives working on an XP machine, then that means you're using FAT32? What are you using this machine to do? Video? Aren't you limited by the fact that you have a 4 GB file limit? -
Mac Book Pro crashes after 10.9.4 update
I have a relatively old Mac Book Pro (3 years)
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro8,3
Processor Name: Intel Core i7
Processor Speed: 2.5 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 8 MB
Memory: 16 GB
Boot ROM Version: MBP81.0047.B27
SMC Version (system): 1.70f6
I installed latest Mac OS X 10.9.4 - and started to have crashes that caused reboots. I had to turn the Safe Mode and it allows me to operate now.
I am getting a feeling that it's Graphics Card driver that is crashing:
AMD Radeon HD 6770M:
Chipset Model: AMD Radeon HD 6770M
Type: GPU
Bus: PCIe
PCIe Lane Width: x8
VRAM (Total): 1024 MB
Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
Device ID: 0x6740
Revision ID: 0x0000
ROM Revision: 113-C0170L-573
gMux Version: 1.9.24
EFI Driver Version: 01.00.573
Displays:
Color LCD:
Display Type: LCD
Resolution: 1920 x 1200
Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)
Main Display: Yes
Mirror: Off
Online: Yes
Built-In: Yes
Did anybody experience this problem? How to make sure that Mac is using proper card? I noticed that crashed contained Nvidia reference, but I don't have and Nvidia card.
Any help will be appreciated. If you search for these problems independent of 10.9.4 I suspect that you will find that many people were having this failure before the update. I certainly am not an expert and would not have weighed in had I not seen your comment regarding kernel panics, which are pretty rare in my experience.
Humor me as I speculate further: My problems got worse when the discrete graphics card heated up. Perhaps 10.9.4 is causing it to be used more? I used ice packs and gfxcardstatus to keep mine from crashing long enough to do a Time Machine backup, but by the next day it wouldn't even boot up. So by all means try the combo update or whatever but a backup is definitely in order in case this amateur turns out to be right, since in my case time was of the essence. -
Macbook pro die after 10.6.5 update
The last week i update my macbook pro (2008) with 10.6.5 and my laptop die. Now when i try to turn on my computer it lose the power after 3 secods and it turn of. I can not boot from devices, i can see nothing in the display, my adapter and battery are ok.
I belive the 10.6.5 damage the smc and now i can not update the firmware. i can not reset smc. I was try all. Somebody help me.That's a lot to go thru!
For the future, I would recommend buying DiskWarrior. It is the best at directory repairs. It rebuilds then actually replaces your old directory. I feel every Mac owner should have a copy.
Make sure you get the disk so you can boot up on it to run repairs. You can also install it on another drive and run it from there to repair this one. DW works faster that way. But sometimes a badly damaged system can be deemed unrepairable by the installed version, but if booted and repaired from the DW disk it may still be repairable. This has happened to me.
I use DW once a month to try and catch errors in my system from getting too far out of hand. DW has repaired every big and little issue I've had on all three of my Macs.

Macbook Pro crashes after every sleep
Hello!
My brand new Macbook Pro with Retina display crashes after every deep sleep (sleep longer than 70 minutes). Once laptop is turned on, you see grey crash message.
Practically no software installed since it's a new computer. OS and all software are up to date.
I tried disabling deep sleep mode, resetting SMC/PRAM, reinstalling the OS - nothing helps.
There are no external devices/USB attached to the laptop. I also tried disabling wi-fi/bluetooth and closing all applications before going to sleep mode - doesn't help neither.

USB is mentioned plenty of times in the beginning of panic message, but I don't actually use my USB ports.have similar problem here...
Macbookpro always died when it should have just slept...
apple support guy suggest me to delete the following apps and do some things:
- Onyx
- Maintainance
- Little snitch.. gonna reinstall
- unplug all ports.. why?!?
i installed Thinkertools afterwards.. because i just need the functions from onyx or maintainance...
Then i did PRram delete... and save boot. like the Support guy said.
The support guy also mentioned that the problem could come from my SSD HDD setup.
But since i buyed a premium Quality OCZ with mac compatibility i thought to have eliminiated that in the first place..
But... Now i my problem got worse. Mac didnt start up again after its crash.. stayed on a gray screen with turning ball.
before doing what the support guy said the mac was selfstarting and just displaying a crashmessage.
Got you the crashlog too if anyone can read this stuff... just in case, i got alot of usb devices on it.

MacBook Pro Crashes after Installing Snow Leopard
I just installed Snow Leopard on my macbook pro that I've had for 5 years and ever since every app that I open crashes upon opening it. If it does not crash, it'll open the application but render it completely inoperable. The computer also loses mousetrack and keyboard abilities. This happens every time I restart my computer. My computer is also no longer under warranty and cannot run without power cord. Nothing seems to be working correctly since the update. Time to start looking at a new computer? Easy fix? Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thank you much.
J-UST-91,
which version of Mac OS X was installed on your MacBook Pro before you’d installed Snow Leopard? Was it working flawlessly under the older version? Do you make a backup of your disk just before installing Snow Leopard? -
Macbook pro dead after 10.7.5 update
after this update, 2010 macbook pro will not boot.
hangs on grey boot screen with spinning wheel.
tried restart with option command p r same result
what are my options? That's a lot to go thru!

MacBook Pro crashes during 10.9.4 update
Three times now I have tried to update my MacBook Pro (mid 2009) and each time it has failed. I downloaded the combo updater and it runs just fine to start. Then, after the restart, the updating screen appears and never advances past "11 minutes left..." No matter how long I wait, no progress.
The first time that this happened, the mouse actually froze in place. The second two times, the mouse was useable but nothing else.
In each case I did a hard shutdown and then rebooted, back into 10.9.3, where everything seems OK.
I have done a disk permissions repair but with no help.
Any ideas? If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance. You can skip this step if you don't care about the data that hasn't been backed up.
Reinstall the OS.* Your data should be unaffected unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

Combining '10.1.3 OC4J Java Single Sign-On' and 'Oracle (mod_o)SSO'
OC4J as of 10.1.3 supports java SSO which doesn't require the whole infrastructure stack. I'm wondering whether one could create a solution that transparently provides SSO behavior whether you're coming from mod_osso or from OC4J Java SSO. So basical
