My New Retina MacBook Pro crashes during installation and cannot turn back on?
My New Retina Display MacBook Pro suddenly just crash all of a sudden during installation, it happened when in a white background ther is a Lion image at the center and a progress bar at the bottom. The MacBook cannot be turned back on after this crash!!!! Does anyone has the same problem?
P.S. I had connected to a power cable during installation and didn't touch it at all during installation.Similar problem here. Using the new Macbook Pro with Retina Display, happily for a week. Tonight it suddenly died, turned itself off, that is. I couldn't turn it back on now.... Very frustrating. Any solution except for bringing it back to the Apple store?

I download the Setup executable off of the site and run it, once Creative Cloud starts installing, my desktop and taskbar go black and don't respond, and then once the application manager is open, it attempts to load and then comes up blank - no menus, no downloads, just the logo, and the settings menu has no options in it either. Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed. -
my hard drive crashed on my MacBook Pro crashed and I need to get my CS5 up and running on the new hard drive. I copied what I could onto an external hard drive but when I drag and drop I get directions to uninstall but the uninstall folder I have does says it is an alias that is no longer present. I get error 6. I would like to get my software up and running on the laptop again please
If you subscribed to iTunes match the songs are kept in icloud. If you didn't but you did save the actual iTunes library folder which should include the music, video, etc. you should be able to just drag this file back to your machine in the same place and when you open iTunes it will give you a chance to identify the iTunes library folder.
You can test this to find out if you saved the media files or not and don't need to attach your nano to do it.
You are correct that once you connect the nano it will clear the existing files from it and sync it with the new iTunes library.
If you don't have the media files i'm not sure if/how to get them back on a windows ipod. I have everything backed up regularly because of the horror stories I have seen & heard. -
Macbook Pro crashes on mouse click
Hello everyone,
I've been having this problem for two weeks now and it's happening more and more frequently!
Info:
Macbook Pro 15'' mid 2011
Mac OS X Mavericks / Mac OS X Yosemite
Hard Drive: Samsung 840 Evo 250GB SSD
8 GB Ram
THE ISSUE:
Every so often at a random time, at the exact moment I perform a mouse click, my macbook pro crashes.
That instant, the screen goes dark ( like I just ripped out it's battery ) and reboots automatically, saying "your mac restarted because of a problem".
Like I said, it's gotten more and more frequent! ( 5 times a day or more now... )
WHAT I'VE TRIED:
So the problem occurred in Mavericks, so I figured I'll install Yosemite ( on a new partition ) and see if it's any better.. Well it isn't...
Same problem, same type of crash.
Then I figured maybe it's related to my magic mouse.. So i turned it off and used a third party mouse. No luck! It also happened while using the Macbook's trackpad.
I also haven't found anyone with a similar problem online so far, so if any of you have experienced something like this or know what might be causing it, i'd be grateful for any information!
Best regards,

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear below what you entered.
The output of the command will be automatically copied to the Clipboard. If the command produced no output, the Clipboard will be empty. Paste into a reply to this message.
The Terminal window doesn't show the output. Please don't copy anything from there. -
Macbook Pro crashes and needs reboot 10.8.1
Hi all,
Having an odd issue. Since upgrading to OS X 10.8 and now running 10.8.1 my MacBook Pro crashes intermitently. The operating system becomes unresponsive and the only thing I can do is move the mouse and nothing else. The only solution is to hold the power button down.
I did have a few kernal panics before upgrading to 10.8.1. Not had one for a while now.
I have run an Apple Hardware Test and I have run a Memtest and everything has reported no issues.
I have looked at the Console logs but can't see anything obvious (not really sure what to look for). Does anyone have any ideas what the issue could be?
THanks in advance.
TomIt crashed again today. Heres the log

MacBook Pro Crashing A Lot...
Hi guys
It's about time I've tried to figure this problem out, I guess I haven't previously because I'm scared of what the specialists will say, but here goes...
I have a MacBook Pro, from around last 2006 I believe and over the last 6 months or so, I've had problems with it crashing. It has this tendency to do it, sometimes without any warning, when it's doing something graphical, for example sometimes when I go into the dock and it increases in size, the computer will crash...it's strange because although it has crashed I can still move the mouse cursor around the screen usually, I just can't click anything or nothing responds to the cursor moving over it. This can be whether I have one program on, or having Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver open all at the same time, it really is that random.
It also crashes a lot, nearly ever time, when I play a game called Peggle when I'm on a break from my design work.
I've also noticed sometimes, random lines or distorted colours appearing on the screen sometimes and also sometimes a corner or a part of the application that I am in will distort and elongate itself, if that makes sense (this is cured when I move the window off screen and back on again).
Also, and I don't know if this has anything to do with it, I have some blotches appearing at the top of the screen and some down the left and right side, however I get the feeling this might be because it once got a little wet when I was out and about with it in my laptop bag (it was raining heavily).
I hope someone can help me. I'm sorry if I've waffled on, or even if this topic is in the wrong section, but I really hope someone can help.
Thanks again.
Steve.Hi Jason
I don't think it happens in a specific program as such, it tends to happen when I am doing certain things or have other things open for example. I mean, if I have iTunes open, which has quite a large 25GB library within it, then I'm pretty sure it's more likely to happen. Not saying that it's down to iTunes, I think I'm more saying it's likely to happen if something bulky is open, and yet, when I have Photoshop open along with a couple of other applications, it seems to happen a lot less, which kind of contradicts that point. But something I forgot to mention, is that it also tends to happen when I open up my stacks. Not all the time, but occasionally that can be the cause of it, and also something else is when I would scroll down a page in the browser, sometimes with some speed, it might trip it, but as for specific programs, I can't name just one or two, but it does happen a lot with that game I was talking about at some point during play, which makes me wonder if it's a problem 'graphically'. I'm not technical at all, but I think you get the gist of what I am saying.
Regarding your second point, I actually reinstalled Leopard after this was happening with a fresh start and it was doing the same things without some of my programs that I like to use installed on it yet. Also, I installed Snow Leopard yesterday and the problems are still there and to be honest, it seems slightly worse to me as SL seems a little glitchy right now.
Regarding your third point, I'll give that a try. I'll create a new user and see if the problem persists.
I just find it strange that seemingly no-one has encountered this problem from my searching, with the graphical distortions and the random crashings and the watery texture at the top of the screen (again this could be from me getting it slightly wet).
Thanks for your help. if this has suggested anything more that you know, then please let me know.

MacBook Pro crashing when I touch trackpad.
My MacBook Pro crashes sometimes 10 times in a day and other times not for a few days at a time. It only does this when I touch the track pad, however, it seems totally random. I can use the track pad quite a bit and it is fine - then I go to use it and it crashes.
upgraded to the 10.9.2 OSX and made the problem worse. Apple store has been about useless. I have replaced my hard drive and done a fresh install of 10.9.2 but nothing has changed.
Can anyone help me with solving this problem?John,
When I had the older OSX I had to hold the power button down and power the machine down and then hold power button again to get it running. With 10.9.2 it reboots itself and brings back everything I was working on when it crashed.
Yes, the report problem window comes up and I have send all of them to apple... dozens and dozens of them. I also shared them with the genius bar people at apple stores... who aren't so genius...
I will work to determine of the proplems occur in safe mode as well but have no tested that to date.
Following is the error message that occured on my last crash... which was the 4th one today (but I deleted the IP address for the wireless card):

Macbook Pro Crashing After Recent OSX Upgrade
I'm wondering if anyone out there is having issues with the new Seagate 750 drives crashing the MacBook Pro. I have four of them and all crash the Macbook even though they worked fine for the past two months. My only change was the new OSX 10.4.9 update. The drives all work fine on a Windows XP machine so it's not he drives. Wishing I wouldn't have loaded the new OSX. Any others out there with similar problems?
MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.7)can't say I've had trouble with my external drives.
1 - repair your permissions, you may need to do it more than once to be successful.
2 - reset your PRAM during boot, right after the startup sound, hold Option-Command-P-R until you hear the startup sound again, keep holding and wait for it a third time.
3 - try turning off all your external drives and waiting for about 10 minutes, then turn them all back on and plug in to the computer after they have all spun back up.
If you have these drives working on an XP machine, then that means you're using FAT32? What are you using this machine to do? Video? Aren't you limited by the fact that you have a 4 GB file limit? -
My 06' Macbook Pro crashed with vertical, green pixelated lines and now will not advance past the turn-on screen with the apple filled with green lines as well. Then, it says to hold down the power button to restart. I have tried several times to get it past this point but tnothing helped.
I have an appointment at the Apple store today, but was wondering : will all of the information and files on my desktop be lost? Or is this a logic board problem?
Any help is much MUCH appricated.I'm not sure, if you're out of warrenty it'll cost quite a bit for the replacement of the logic board replacement...unless you have apple care. you could ask apple to try and recover your hard drive but i'm not sure.

My macbook pro crashed and the hard drive was replaced. How do I restore my backup pre- 9.6 iphoto library to the 9.6.1 iphoto library? They look completely different. When I look at my backed-up iphoto library folder I see lots of files and folders: ALbumData.xml, Attachments folder, etc. The 9.6.1 iphoto library doesn't appear to be a folder at all. Help!
iPhoto 6 and earlier libraries were regular folders with the kind of files your reporting. With the advent of iPhoto 7 the library folder was changed to a package similar to the application packages but have essentially the same files and folders inside. There's no reason to have access to the inside of the iPhoto Library so Apple changed them to packages.
Do you have a backup copy of the iPhoto Library from before the HD crash. If so restore it to the Pictures folder in your Home folder. If you previous version of iPhoto was iPhoto 7 or earlier download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 on your library before trying to open it with iPhoto 9.6.1. -
My macbook pro crashed after installing maverick. I lost all my photos however the iPhone iPhoto app still has these photos so how can i access the package contents to recover these photos?
We'll need to know more to beable to help. Do you want to try to restore your photos from your iPhone to your Mac, or try to recover the photos from the old iPhoto Library on your Mac?
What is the situation of your Mac now? In hat way did it crash? A hardware problem with the drive? Does the system not start properly? Does iPhoto not launch? Do you still have the iPhoto Library on your mac or a backup, so we could try to rescue the photos there?
What versions of iPhoto are on your iPhone and your Mac?
however the iPhone iPhoto app still has these photos so how can i access the package contents to recover these photos?
On the iPhone you cannot access the "package contents" - IOS hides the file system from the users. To restore photos from your phone share all iPhoto photos to your Camera Roll, that are not already in the Camera Roll, and then connect the iPhone via USB and import the Camera Roll to iPhoto or Image Capture. Or use any of the other sharing methods described on thos manual page: see: Ways to share photos http://help.apple.com/iphoto/iphone/2.0/?handbuch#blnk7d8f763e
To retrieve photos from a corruptrd iPhoto Library on your Mac we need to know the version number and more about the "crash" you experienced, the state of your mac, the system, the data. Please post back with more details.

While running on battery, MacBook Pro crashes after a few minutes of use.
While running on battery, my MacBook Pro crashes (shuts down) after a few minutes (less than 10) of use. Battery indicator still says I have enough power (more than 75%) so it can't be related to the other reported issues with low battery crashes.
While on power adaptor, I don't have any issues.
I checked battery condition as suggested in all the forum threads I can find and its fine.
Running Lion 10.7.2PRAM reset did not resolve the issue

Support pack objects identified by SPAU
HI, Can somebody tell me whether we can "set to original" the support pack objects identified by SPAU or not? How will this impact our testing if the code updates are not fully applied yet? Thanks & regards, Pavan.
