How much RAM have you got? plus do you have plenty of HD space?
My 2007 MBP was noticeably faster after upgrading to Lion (clean install after using Leopard). My max RAM should be 4gb but I've stuck 6 in and that's also helped.

MacBook Pro crashing with Mac OS X Lion
After upgrading my MacBook Pro (15" mid 2010 model) to Mac OS X Lion, it frequently crashes. What happens is : the display turns black without any previous warning or error message and then my notebook restarts. Has anybody experienced the same bug?
Lion will come pre installed. Move your Data over with Set-Up Assistant on initial boot.

New MacBook Pro comes with Mac OS X Lion?
I read here that OS X Lion will come preinstalled on new macs. When I get my MacBook Pro, I´m going to install my old hard drive with all my old content and do a fresh restore, and I was wondering if the restore disks will have OS X Lion on them, or Snow Leopard. If Snow Leopard, will lion be free on the app store like the site said it will be?
Thanks, ShadyLion will come pre installed. Move your Data over with Set-Up Assistant on initial boot.

My 06' Macbook Pro crashed with vertical, green pixelated lines and now will not advance past the turn-on screen with the apple filled with green lines as well. Then, it says to hold down the power button to restart. I have tried several times to get it past this point but tnothing helped.
I have an appointment at the Apple store today, but was wondering : will all of the information and files on my desktop be lost? Or is this a logic board problem?
Any help is much MUCH appricated.I'm not sure, if you're out of warrenty it'll cost quite a bit for the replacement of the logic board replacement...unless you have apple care. you could ask apple to try and recover your hard drive but i'm not sure.

Does the macbook pro come with mac os x v10.7 lion
does the macbook pro come with max os x v10.7 lion?
It depends when it was manufactured - if you should choose to buy a refurbished unit from Apple , it may still have Snow Leopard (but you would of course qualify for a free upgrade to Lion) or, it would also be possible to buy a new one from a reseller with Snow Leopard if he had the MBP for a while, so it would be adviseable to ask.

MacBook Pro crashes after upgrading to Mountain Lion
Since upgrading my MacBook Pro from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion this morning, it has crashed without warning and rebooted (6 times). I never had any issues with Snow Leopard. Here is the latest crash report. Any ideas?

Should i wait with buying a macbook pro for the mac os x lion software?
Hi there,
I've been saving up some money to buy myself a MacBook Pro 13", but I've been told to wait for the new lion upgrade.
It's not that I need the macbook right now, I mean, I can wait, but I don't want to wait for a system that's not refined yet.
I'm afraid the system might have bugs or issues or things...
So my question: should I wait till June/July with buying, or buy one now and have a good working system?
And do any of you guys know whether there'll be some kind of a grace period where they give you the new upgrade for free?
Thanks in advance! My take is to buy it when you need it. If that's now then buy it now. You can always upgrade to Lion when it comes out.

MacBook Pro crashes with kernel errors
Hi, i'm havinge troubles with my 2009. macbook pro. It keeps crashing down with kernel errors.
I took it to apple, payed for a repair and they didn't fix it. Now i don't know what to do. I recently noticed that my right fan isnt working.
I'm leaving you with one of my error reports if you know how to read them.
Btw, hardware test simple and extended one reports ok. Disk warrior also. Could it be the temperature? Last time it crashet it was at about 76 celsius...crashes are not time reliable, sometimes i just turn it on and it crashes while loading os (its not yet hot), sometimes it can work for an hour or two then die again...

If you can't hear the fans running fast then I suggest you run the hardware tests from your install DVD (insert and reboot holding down d) to see if it shows any SNS (sensor) or MTR (fan motor) errors, if so get it to Apple for a fix. -

Also made this, but after running the disk repair, got a msg that the disk could not be repaired, to back up files and so on. When I tried to restart, it never re started again, it start to boot and turned off immediatelly, tried this several times. I had no other option than to make a clean install, formating everithing. The data loss was minor as all my email is on IMAP based service, and all document in a cloud service. Lets see what will happen now, if system will be stable or crashing again! Not sure what is going on, but it seems a hardware malfunction in my hard drive.

Hi guys,
I would like to use airplay mirroring on apple tv (3rd generation) with my macbook pro late 2011, unfortunately the airplay option does not appear in the display preferences (see screenshot below). Did someone have this problem before? Please advise!
Thank you!
TialWelcome to the Apple Support Communities
See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404 Your computer is compatible with AirPlay Mirroring, but you have to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion to get AirPlay Mirroring.
Make a Time Machine backup and/or a clone with Carbon Copy Cloner, open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion. When the download finishes, the installer will appear, so follow the steps to upgrade. To turn on AirPlay Mirroring, select the AirPlay icon in the menu bar or open System Preferences > Displays -
Quicktime pro crashes with some mp4 in Lion Os X 7.2
Hallo!
I have upgraded to Lion OS X 7.2 and my Quicktime pro crashes when I try to open files mp4 with MPEG-4 HE AAC V2 audio codec. It used to work fine in Snow Leopard. I removed and installed again, tried to remove Mpeg 2 codec, installed 3ivx, but still the same problem so I removed it again.
I removed everything and installed again but still the same problem with these files.
Anybody has got such problem?
Any possible solution (apart open them in QT 10 and export in mov)?
Thanks!
Maulots of people, did you find the solution?

Do the newest MacBook Pros come with discs?
Do the newest MacBook Pros come with discs?
No, Lion comes preinstalled with a "Recovery Partition" if you want a disk follow these instructions. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4848

i have a late 2011 macbook pro i want to reinstall os lion 10.7 so when i reboot hold down options key click on recovery hd then in the os x utilities screen it says reinstall mac os x is there any way i can save this download so i can burn to dvd
steve359 wrote:
Sorry ... I read but was unfortunately distracted from your original post. You have a system that came with Lion. The Lion that is on your system is only for your computer and cannot be downloaded from the app store again because you never purchased it officially through the App Store.
Try this for making an external USB/DVD copy of Recovery on an external disk. internet is still required for reinstall, though, I believe: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4848. But at least you have a separate Recovery Partition if you ever need a fully new and empty internal disk.
Your assumption is incorrect. Although he may not be able to download it from the App store he can download it directly for the Apple servers using the recovery partition on his original drive.
All you have to do is start the install routine and then point the install to an external hard drive. Once the download is finished the computer will reboot to start the install. At that reboot disconnect the external drive so the install can not start. Boot the computer back into the OS on the internal hard drive, which is what will happen automatically once the external drive is disconnected. Then connect the external and copy the files from it that were downloaded. Right click on that downloaded package file and select Show contents. In the contents of that package is a file called InstallESD.DMG. Copy that file out of the package and burn it down to a DVD or USB thumb drive and you now have the Full Lion Installer. I have several of them laying around on different hard drives and 2 USB thumb drives which I have used to reinstall Lion on my 15" MBP.
Sorry OP I should of just typed this out in my first post. -
My MacBook Pro came with Lion pre-installed so I can't re-download it from the app store. Is it possible to get the installESD.dmg file and how can I get it if I can't re-download Lion in Apple Store option?
FYI Mac OS X is not designed to be installed on additional Macs, unless you purchased it from the App Store, in which case you can make as many copies as you wish and install it on as many Macs as you own.
From the Recovery Disk Assistant -
Notes
If the computer shipped with OS X Lion or Mountain Lion, the external recovery drive may only be used with the system that created it.
If the system was upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion purchased from the App Store, the external recovery drive can be used with other similarly-upgraded systems.
