MacBook Pro do not read photo dvd recorded in multiple session in Windows

I have 20 photo dvds recorded in my pc in multiple sessions.
When I open the dvd using finder it only shows some of the folders not all of them. If I open the same dvd using parallels with windows xp it shows everything.
Is there any way that I can read the complete dvd?
Thanks for your help!.

Hello smuzak09,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand that your trackpad is moving around on its own, and tracking erratically.  To troubleshoot this issue I'd like you to please follow the steps in the article below.

  • My MacBook Pro does not read burnt DVD

    Hi guys,
Does anyone of you alredy encountered the following problem with your optical drive (Matshita DVD-R UJ 857):
    - Perfect CD reading/recording
    - Perfect original DVD reading
    - Perfect DVD burning
    - No or almost no burnt DVD reading.
This is becoming nasty since you back up your stuff on a blank DVD (verbatim DVD-R) but cant read them back...
Anyone out there that has the same pityful problem?
    Let me know,
    .M

I too am having this problem. I spoke with Apple Support and they basically said "if it reads the DVDs we provide then it's not broken". What a joke.
The DVDs I am having problems with are all from commercial software that I purchased, but they are not pressed discs. They are DVD-R or DVD+R (not sure which). The discs do not read on my 15" MBP, but read just fine on my 15" PB and on my desktop Windows system. To me it seems that the new SuperDrive is not so super after all.
Hopefully Apple will hear from enough of us that this is a problem, and then maybe they will actually do something to fix it.
    Cheers

  • Macbook Pro will not read CD's.

My Macbook Pro will not read CD's. They have data on them, but they open up as blank CD's when I insert them into the drive. I know that they are not blank because on another Macbook Pro, they open up just fine. Some CD's will work while others will not. Why would a CD open on another Mac that is just the same?

I am having a similar problem.
Mine is a Mid-2009 model that I bought used on Craigslist... and now I notice the problems.
If I insert a commercial DVD, it spits it out after about 10 seconds. If I insert a burned DVD, it asks me if I'd like to write something to it.

  • My MacBook Pro will not eject a DVD following viewing.  Help?

My MacBook Pro will not eject a DVD following viewing.   Selecting EJECT
on the controller gives a message of "Supported Disc Not Available".   It is
in the drive and I need to get it out.   How might I proceed?   Thanks for any
    help you can provide.

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
    1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the left mouse button until the disc ejects.
    2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
    3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
    4. Press COMMAND-E.
    5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
         /usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into single-user mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above.
To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

  • Drive in my Macbook Pro is not picking up dvd format.

The drive in my 17'-inch 2010 Macbook Pro is not picking up dvd format. If i put a game software or program disk it will pick this up and play... yet, if i insert a dvd or the disks that came with computer to restore to factory settings it will not... would anyone have any clue why and how i could fix this...Thanks

it sounds like your drive may be failing. You should set up an appointment with a Genius at an Apple store. They should be able to test it for you, let you know if the drive is failing.

  • MacBook Pro Won't Read a DVD+R (RW) Created on a Panasonic DVD Recorder

    Hi,
I recently used a DVD Recorder to transfer VHS tapes to DVDs. The disks (DVD+R RW) read fine on the video recorder and other dvd playback units, but won't open on my MacBook Pro. I keep getting the screen that asks me to format. Is this a problem with my MacBook? I'd like to edit these DVDs. Can I do that?
    Thanks,
    Chris

One other slight possibility is that the drive in the problem MBP is a different brand to the one in the "good" one, and for some reason doesn't like that particular brand of media (they all have slightly different reflective properties etc). You can check in System Profiler to find out what sorts of drives are fitted in each.
But a bit of dust or film on the lens is the most common cause of optical drive problems, so a cleaning disc is certainly worth trying. I actually run one in my own computers every month or so. Seems to keep them running for years while others have issues after months!

  • Macbook pro does not see internal DVD/CD drive

Our macbook pro 4,1 running OSX 10.8.5 (12F45) no longer seems to recognize the internal DVD/CD drive.
Both the ATA and Disc Burning listings for the MBP say there are no devices of that type listed.
This started when my wife attempted to play an audio CD-R which I had burned on my macpro 1,1 running Snow Leopard and using Itunes 11.4.  The icon for the CD did not show up and the disk didn't play.  It also would not eject.  (She had just successfully played another audio CD-R which I had burned on my macpro).  After some research, we found that the 'stuck CD' is a common problem and the solution that worked for us was cold starting with the trackpad button depressed while shaking the **** out of the computer (and giving it a few 'love taps') .... several tries without the physical encouragement failed before adding shaking ... then it ejected the CD.
So .... we were able to remove the offending CD, but when I tried one that had worked before, a commercially produced CD, it got stuck too and required the same draconian procedure to get it to eject.
I re-cold started the MBP with an empty optical drive and then brought up the Hardware Overview.  It said there was no ATA device and no Disc Burning device.  The device itself must be getting power, because when the CD was stuck, you could hear it trying to do something  when you hit the eject key, and when we finally discovered how to force ejection, the mechanical sound associated with disc ejection could be heard.
I seriously doubt that the optical drive has just stopped working.  Instinct tells me that the attempt to read an audio CD that was somehow incompatible caused the opsys to be configured in a way that makes it unable to communicate with the optical drive directly.  Any suggestions on how to investigate this, possibly from the Terminal, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Joe - but I have discovered how to free the stuck CD from the drive.
The problem now is that OSX 10.8.5 does not recognize the presence of the optical drive at all.  It does not show up in Disk Utility's list of drives/volumes and does not show up in the ATA or Disc Burning categories in the system profiler.  For example, I can insert the system disc, which the drive accepts, but the install/utilitiy app does not fire up .... not initially, nor after I cold start while holding 'C'.  The system doesn't see it.
Applecare was willing to try to assist me for free, but the agent, after helping me run the Disc Utility from the cold start Recovery System, claimed it was a faulty optical drive.  Though this is quite possible, I'm still skeptical and have a local mac guru coming to look at it (for a fee) on Monday, 2/9/15.
In some of my research regarding the stuck CD, there was mention that a CD programmed on a different drive (in a different mac) initiated the sticky CD problem, and implied that something about the CD corrupted something in the guts of the guts of the OS.  But if true, Disk Utility, which likely communicates to the optical drive thru the OS,  may not be able to see the drive.   It'd be nice if there was some diagnostic software that runs on an intel mac that completely runs independently of the OS but with full privileges to directly query the hardware I/O channel(s) that directly talk to the optical drive.  If you know of such an animal, that would be helpful and might save me from buying a new optical drive when it's really a system corruption problem.
