Macbook Pro does not show up on ATV 2
Have installed ATV 2 - connected to TV with HDMI cable. Appears to connect with Airport Extreme in other room where Macbook Pro is located.
However, while I turned on Home Sharing on the Macbook Pro and also on the ATV 2, they aren't finding one another.
Tried to change name of laptop to my @me.com address, but syntax won't work.
What do I need to do?
have you tried disabling home sharing. then re-enable it, but BEFORE you press done to exit the home sharing screen check the apple tv and see if it shows up. It seems to have temporarily solved my issue and many others on this board. The worst Apple product rollout ever.

If the same MBP using the same connections to the same TV with the same settings on both the MBP and TV used to work, it appears there is a hardware problem. You might want to try a different TV or different MBP or different connectors. -

You say you are running Mac OS X 10.6.8, that does not come with FaceTime preinstalled. To confirm this, open > About this Mac, and tell us which OS X version you have.
If it's 10.6.x, open the Mac App Store and purchase FaceTime, or upgrade to a newer OS X version -
My macbook pro does not print through my PC to my EPSON RX 500 after loading OS X 10.7.4. It shows on the print queue "error" However, it will print if I directly connect my laptop to this printer via the USB connection. Any ideas?
It's all about setting up what ever version of windows you have running on your pc to share the printer. If you still get stuck post in a windows forum for help.

MacBook pro does not recognize my WD external hard drive anymore
I use TIme Machine on my WD external hard drive. Everything was working great up until about a month ago. My MacBook Pro does not recognize my external hard drive anymore...I have done nothing differently than usual. I did search in previous discussions and tried rebooting both the hard drive and the computer.
The USB port is fine as it does recognize another external hard drive and also pen drives....Please help! I haven't backed up in a month and need to figure out how to get this to work soon. Should I call WD?Does the WD drive show in Disk Utility?
Many times, a USB port simply cannot provide the power a hard drive needs. It is not uncommon for any electric motor to draw more power as it ages. A drive that worked before can stop working when it gets older because age has made it tak more power than any USB port can supply. There are a couple of cheap things to try:
1) A "Y" USB cable---two plugs go to the computer and one to hte drive, giving a power boost.
1 Meter USB 2.0 A to 5 Pin Mini B Cable - Auxiliary USB "Y" Power Design for external hard drives.
2) a POWERED USB hub. That takes the power delivery burden off the USB port so it can deal with data.
WD bare drives are fine but their enclosures are not very Mac-friendly. One thing that has reported helping is to get rid of the proprietary formating that WD puts on their drives. If you don't have to share the drive with a Windows computer, use Disk Utility to erase and reformat the drive to Macintosh Extended Journaled. -
New Macbook Pro does not start up after updating...HELP!!!

My new Macbook Pro does not start up after it got updated. The first time I used it, it was perfect. I updated it and restarted it when it told me to but it doesn't boot. It shows an apple and a spinning circle when it turns on but that's it.

Macbook pro 2010 not showing hard disk in disk uility but same hdd shows when connected to usb original drive, also installed new hard disk 500gb, same result, but connected old hard disk of 500gb shows in disk utility and also able to installed os on it, tried installing lion 10.7 on it with the original and new hdd but not shows in disk utility pls help for this problem
I'm kind of experiencing the same issue now.
A few days ago, when starting up my Mini, I would get a warning that the system didn't recognize the drive with the option to ignore. I hit ignore and all seven drives would mount. Because I have seven drives attached, I had no idea what drive was giving the warning.
Today that drive failed to load up at all. I ran disk utility and after several tries, it said repair was successful yet the drive will not mount.
I'm currently running recovery software on it to see if I can copy everything from it to another drive. It is a fairly old drive, about 3 years old so it's time is short.
I don't have any suggestions but mine does show in disk utility. -
My MacBook Pro does not recognize my Android Incrdible 2 cell phone and therefore I can not transfer any photos from my cell phone to my Mac. I was able to do this in the past, but can not do so now. I have not upgraded to any new software. My USB cable is plugged in properly and I just get an error message -- "No Android Device Found". What could be the problem?
I had the same issue with the Galaxy S4 trying to see what the hype was about and was my first and last android phone. With that being said unfortunately it is a hit or miss with the Mac recognizing an android device or not. It worked perfectly fine the first time around and then it stopped working for no apparent reason. Through trial and error nothing I did solved the issue. I did however plug it in my Mac and left it connected for about 30-40 min to charge for a bit and all of the sudden it recognizes the phone. So I just launched Android File Transfer and everything else became fluid after that. I have no explanation as to why it happened that way, but what I gathered from this is maybe you just have to let it sit for a minute while plugged in before the Mac recognizes it, after all they are opposing software. On a side note this is why I will always be an apple user, Iphones and the like never have this problem

I am a windows user that has converted to Mac and loving it but when I updated to Lion my wireless internet dongle would not work anymore and the Macbook Pro does not recognise the device at all so I am unable to reinstall it again. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Go to Finder > Preferences then select the General tab
Make sure External disks is selected. -

Hello.
The problem is that the iPhoto library is inside of iPhoto. Lightroom won't let you select it because it's basically a shortcut to iPhoto. Try exporting the images you need or all of them, depending on what you need. -
