Macbook Pro doesn't find specific IP-adress printer

I have a weird problem. We have a MacBook Pro 5,5  (early 2009 - 13 inch - Apple/Toshiba 128 Gb SSD - 2x2 Gb memory) and a Canon IR-ADV C5030 copier/printer combination on a network. The Macbook has always worked flawless under OS X 10.5 through 10.9 Mavericks. The Canon copier is attached to the network on IP-address 192.168.1.11. Untill 2 weeks ago the Macbook printed without any problem on this printer, but then suddenly the MacBook could no longer detect the Ip-adress. The other 2 printers on the network (IP 192.168.1.7 and 192.168.1.9) are detectable and usable. Also the 2 servers present no problem. All the other computers on the network can see and print to the canon copier.  From this MacBook using the Networking utility and trying to Ping the printer results in 'No route to host. Host is down'. Pinging from the other computers to this printer give good results...
I tried the following (without any result):
- First all the usual updating of system and Canon drivers and resetting (PRAM). No use...
- Reformatted the SSD and reinstalled everything again from TimeMachine Backup. No use...
- Started up from an USB-stick with OS X 10.9 installer on it.  Reformatted the SSD. Did no installation of OS X on the SSD. Pinging 192.168.1.11 gives the same results as above!
- Removed the SSD and 1 memory module (2 Gb) - Restarted from the USB stick. Same results...
- Started up from USB-stick with OS X 10.8. Same results...
- Installed system 10.8 on the SSD. Installed TechTool pro 6. Ran all the tests. No problems except hanging on the SMART Check configuration but this can be due to being an older Techtool, I guess.
Does anyone have ever encountered a simular problem? Is this a hardware problem? And what is the solution to this problem?
Any help would be very appreciated! Thanks!

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Try to ping the printer while in safe mode.
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

    hi russeel!
when i first upgraded to 5.0.1.4 i panicked for a while looking for that tab (and the Burning one) ... the subtab that i find kind of strange is "Advanced-General". Generally Advanced? Not Tremendously Advanced?
    okay, we've gone up a

    If neither restarting your Mac

  • Macbook pro doesn't recognize camera on image capture

My MacBook Pro doesn't recognize the built-in camera for a lot of my applications, including Image Capture. It doesn't show up anywhere in my system preferences. Any idea why this is so?

    (1)  Mac's built-in camera does not work with Image Capture.
Image Capture works with external devices like scanners, some iOS devices, some cameras and RAM cards, etc.  Click this link for more info about Image capture and some of the apps that can work with your inbuilt camera.
Click here for info about how to use Image Capture to transfer images from a connected external camera.
For more info about Image Capture functions, see Image Capture > Help on your Mac or the Apple pages in this link.
    (2) To test for application-specific problems mentioned in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight " article, use apps like Photo Booth, QuickTime Player, iChat, FaceTime, or others intended to work with your Mac's inbuilt camera.
    (3) To test for user-specific problems mentioned in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 the "How to Troubleshoot iSight " article, you must have more than one user account.  Do NOT use the "Guest" account.  Click this link if you need help creating new accounts for testing.

  • Macbook Pro doesn't recognize iPhone 4Gs

Macbook Pro doesn't recognize my iPhone 4Gs
    My Macbook Pro 15 (Mac OS X 10.6.8) doesn't recognize my iPhone 4Gs (iOS5.1)
Suddenly it stopped, last time was April 11 via Wi-Fi.
Now even with the device plugged it can't be recognized.
On iPhone Settings, the "iTunes Wi-Fi Sync" tab is grayed.
Few days ago iPhone started to behave strangely, refusing to power off, sometimes not charging when plugged to USB port, sometimes does.
    Don't know what to do.
    Thanks in advance
    best

What kind of phone is this? an iphone 4? or an iphone 4S? ( note there is no such phone as an iPhone 4gS)
What you describe here is in my eyes the beginning signs of accidental damge, such as water damge of some sort.
This is a great oppurtunity to see if the same issues you are having when connecting to your computer, replicate when conencted to another computer.
You need to find out if there is a way to test with a new USB cord if possible to rule that out.
Trying to isolate this to, or away from the iphone.

My new macbook pro doesn't work. I bought it yesterday and after I've installed EFI update (it installed without any errors) my mac
"starts" with blank screen, no chime sound, with fans on (I guess - it's full speed). I've already tried those tricks with command+option+p+r and it neither work nor bring my mac to "life". Any ideas what this issue could be?

Besides the audio files and the video files on my HD work
so ,is someone can help me for finding the whole QT plugins ?
If it was impossible ,I suggest you to make a 7.0.4 reinstaller for 7.1.2 for Quicktime

  • My MacBook Pro doesn't accept CDs or DVDs anymore, but it did when I bought it 2 years ago. How can I get it to read disks again?

My MacBook Pro doesn't accept CDs or DVDs anymore, but it did when I bought it 2 years ago. How can I get it to read disks again?
My quess is that the new software just doesn't allow the disk drive to work. I would love an explanation why this doesn't work and some help getting it to work. It's really frustrating because I get a bunch of CDs from work and never get to listen to them on my MacBook.

Make sure the discs are free of finger prints. The optical drive cannot read a disc with smudges and dust.
Check Finder > Preferences > General
Make sure:  CDs, DVDs, and iPods, is selected.

  • I installed Lion on my MacBook Pro and the Finder keeps quitting - how do i fix it?

I installed Lion on my MacBook Pro and the Finder keeps quitting - how do i fix it?
Worse, i can't force quit the finder and get it to relaunch - the command won't work.
Most of the Lion software also won't work - iTunes, Mail, iCal - and only some of the preferences work.
    The message:
    Finder quit unexpectedly.
Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple.
Won't go away no matter if i hit Ignore or Report...
I have no clue what to do...
    Any help?

Does that happen if you boot into "safe mode"?  Launch the Console utility and look for messages that might explain the problem.  If you see a "crash report", post its contents here.

does your wi-fi router filter access by MAC address? If it does, then have you added your MacBook Pro’s MAC address to your router’s whitelist of acceptable MAC addresses?

My MacBook Pro doesn't start; in safe mode <shift CMD V> the message "disk0s2: media is not present" is written on the screen repeatedly but the MacBook doesn't start.  Do you have any ideas of why this should be or what I should do to resolve this?  Thanks  Eamonn

Thanks for these suggestions: I have tried safe mode re-starts (both "verbose" and simple "shift" + power) to no avail.  I get the error message "disk0s2: media is not present".  Following this I inserted the installation disc and from there ran disc utility.  The "Verify Disk" indicated an error " invalid sibling link" which it could not repair.
I also tried to completely re-format/erase the disk, but again got an error message "disk object invalid or unable to serialize".
Any ideas of what could be causing this or the best solution?  I fear I am fast running out of options.
