Macbook pro early 2011 is burning! 93ºC!

Hi,
I decided to leave my PC life and change to Mac but I am dissapointed. My macbook pro early 2011 i5 is burning (sometimes 93ºC), it's imposible to work with it, I burn my fingers!
Is this normal? Anybody has the same problem?
Thanks!

Depends on what you are doing at the time, ambient room temperature, if the computer is adequately ventilated.
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time, then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.

  • Boot usb macbook pro early 2011

    Hello guys
i'm trying to install windows (i have a legit license key) on my macbook pro early 2011 (i5 @ 2.3ghz, 4GB DDR3 1333MHZ) through usb because my superdrive is dead and i don't have dvds to burn. i modified the info.plist to make the bootcamp assistant capable to make a bootable usb key of my iso (it's just adding my references to the plist so it recognize it as a macbook without superdrive, no big deal). but when i rebooted my laptop, it says no bootable disk please insert and hit enter. so i did, but it did anything. at the boot menu (cmd or alt button when booting) it shows only the macintosh hd (lion partition) and the recovery hd (lion installer) but the bootcamp partition was made properly in fat32 and so on... i tried to boot on the key but no way it wont.
my question is : is there ANY way to boot from that f*****n usb key? i saw that rEFIt can make it but i don't trust in that software (have no warrenty if a screw something i'm the screwed one loooool)

Can't be done, sorry. You'll need to repair or replace your SuperDrive.

  • How to fix magsafe port Macbook Pro early 2011

For a while I struggled to charge my Macbook Pro, so I decided to buy a new charger. It worked fine for a couple weeks but now it has started to do the same thing. I have to spend like maybe 3-4 min wiggling the charger until it finally starts, and then I  have to keep it perfectly still for it to charge. Recently my macbook stopped charging completely. The magsafe port looks very burned (its kind of black). Also the area around the magsafe port is always HOT, even before the charging issues. How can fix this issue? Is this common for Macbook Pro early 2011 13" ? I don't have apple coverage at this time.

Sean, see if these troubleshooting tips help:Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters if not, take it to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs check it out.

  • EXACTLY what cable(s) do I need to connect my MacBook Pro (early 2011) to an external display with a 2560x1440 resolution?

I am trying to connect my MacBook Pro (early 2011 w/ Intel HD 3000/ 384Mb) to an external display with a 2560x1440 resolution. Specifically, what cable/connections do I need to display at this resolution? I cannot get the display to work using a "Thunderbolt to HDMI" or a "Thunderbolt to DVI" connector.  Note:  I used both older and newer (uni-directional) HDMI cables on the first config, and a Dual-link DVI cable on the second config.   Apple specs state this is possible ( support.apple.com/kb/SP619 ), but I am at a loss as to how this can be done.  Thanks in advance for the help!

You use a Mini DisplayPort to either HDMI or dual-link DVI adapter. If that component doesn't work, something's wrong with either the cable or something else in the connection.

  • 13" MacBook Pro (Early 2011) doesn't detect display over mini DisplayPort HDMI adapter in Mountain Lion 10.8.2

    Hi to all.
I have a problem connecting external display (Dell U2311H) to my 13" MacBook Pro (Early 2011).
I use Tecklink Mini DasplayPort to HDMI adapter (http://www.techlink.uk.com/products/wires_cables/wiresmedia/wiresmedia_media/wir esmedia_mini_displayport_plug_to_hdmi_plug), but since U2311H doesn't have HDMI input, I also use Manhattan DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter (http://www.manhattan-products.com/en-US/products/8101-displayport-adapter).
    And nothing.
The display is not detected, no picture or even external monitor presence at all.
I even reset PRAM, and installed 10.8.2 Supplementary update.
I also plugged and unplugged all I could, with no luck.
As I can see on Apple discussion, it is a common problem with 2011 MacBook Pro's.
It seems like the problem is in Thundebolt port, it somehow does not work properly.
If anyone has solved such ploblem, please let me know.

In reply to my own post have to say appologies to Apple whose Thunderbold port I used to blame.
    Shame on me)
    So, what was my problem?
    Guess what?
Manhattan DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter !
The point is it's actually do only what it said to do, converts DP to HDMI.
But I for some reason thought it can be used vice versa, to be HDMI to DP converter))
    I was wrong.
I bought new one HDMI to DVI adapter and now I HAVE external display!
    Thunderbolt works like a charm.
    So I'm very satisfied now.

  • MacBook Pro Early 2011 - Airplay Mirroring only sends audio to Apple TV 2nd Gen

Ok, I'm stumped by this one. I have a 15" MBP Early 2011 edition and an Apple TV 2nd Gen. Airplay Mirroring from my MBP to Apple TV only transmits the audio -- the MBP will resize the screen like it's connected to a 16:9 device, and Apple TV will show a black screen like it's about to pick up the video signal, but no video transmits. A couple of times, video started transmitting, but it was about 30 seconds delayed (?!) and extremely choppy. Both devices are connected wirelessly to a Linksys router with 5 GHz (wireless N) capabilities. The router has been configured to Apple's recommendations for Airplay Mirroring.
A little more about my MacBook Pro:
    Early 2011 Model ID: MacBookPro8,2
    OS: 10.8.2 Mountain Lion
    CPU: Intel Core i7
      Processor Speed:          2 GHz
      Number of Processors:          1
      Total Number of Cores:          4
L2 Cache (per Core):          256 KB
      L3 Cache:          6 MB
    Memory: 4 GB
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6490M, VRAM 256 MB Total
This problem is driving me crazy! Airplay works flawlessly between my iPhone 5 and Apple TV, but not with a much more powerful laptop. Also, I tried Mirroring from a friend's 13" MacBook Pro, and it did the same thing.
Any suggestions, tips, ideas, etc. to get this working is appreciated!

your macbook dont support airplay mirror
He has an Early-2011 MacBook Pro, which does meet the requirements. The issue is that it is running OS X 10.7.5 and needs to be upgraded to Mountain Lion to use mirroring.

  • Connecting my MacBook Pro (early 2011) to my Sony LCD TV (KDL-46XBR6) and listening to Multichannel surround sound.

    Dear all,
I am attempting to connect my MacBook Pro (early 2011) to my Sony LCD TV (KDL-46XBR6) via the Mini DisplayPort to HDMI. I have successfully connected the two devices and can select "SONY TV XV" in the sound preference pane. I can see and hear what I'd like, however, I can only monitor the sound in 2 channel stereo. I have my TV connected to a Sony 7.1 audio receiver via an optical cable and can monitor 7.1 sound via other sources (Blu-ray, broadcast, etc). When I go into the Audio Midi Setup utility, I am unable to configure my speakers to be anything but 2 channel stereo. I am given the options for "2ch-16bit", "2ch-20bit", "2ch-24bit" and "Encoded Digital Audio". When I select "Encoded Digital Audio", my output automatically changes to Built-in Output. Has anyone been able to successfully resolve this issue? Thanks for all your help!
    Gregg

You should also ask this in the MacBook Pro forum. This is the forum for the 13” white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

I have tested it with the Moshi (http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A/moshi-mini-dp-to-hdmi-adapter-with-a udio-support) and Belkin (http://store.apple.com/us/product/HA342ZM/A/belkin-mini-displayport-to-hdmi-adap ter) adapters, both purchased from the Apple Store with no such luck. Have you or anyone else had success with any other third-party adapters?

I have a number of newer and older music cds that came with bonus dvds attached to the audio cd.  How do i get the video to play on my macbook pro (early 2011) w/ Mountain Lion?
    Thanks!

Quicktime comes pre-installed on all Macs.  Quicktime 10 should be on your Dock and the original application inside your Application folder.  Quicktime 7 is inside your Utility folder.  VLC is the application that you need to download.

  • Thunderbolt 2 external hard drive not working with Macbook Pro (early 2011)

    Hi,
I'm new to this forum and I hope you guys can help me with this:
I've recently bought an external hard drive that works on Thunderbolt 2 (LaCie d2 3TB). When I connect the new drive to my Macbook Pro through the thunderbolt port, the drive isn't recognized. However, the drive works fine through a USB connection.
I thought that Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 are compatible, however this doesn't seem to be the case. Maybe it's because the OS X / driver / firmware version that I'm working on that is not updated? I work on an early 2011 Macbook Pro: OS X Version 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).
Thank you very much for your help!
    Daniel

    Hi danielsh6,
I recently bought the new Lacie Thunderbolt 2 D2 3TB and I had the same problem as you, i have a macbook pro early 2011, those support thunderbolt but many times there is a bug that doesn't let you connect any thunderbolt drives to your computer. The solution I found was installing this update:
    Thunderbolt Firmware Update v1.0
Before doing this I would recommend you updating to mountain lion (not yosemite yet as there is still some glitches and more on preview's macbook pro's).
    Hope this helped!

  • Windows 8 on Macbook Pro (early 2011)

    Hi,
I want to install Windows 8 on my macbook pro (early 2011) running the new Mavericks 10.9, but im stucked at the formating process when installing windows 8.
So first I go into boot camp and partition my disk as it guides me to. When It has finished and rebooted I'll hold the alt-option to select the windows disc (efi-boot). When I choose the language, typed the activationcode and all that, it wants me to format the partition i made, and thats when I got stucked. When i try to format it, it says:
"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, windows can only be installed to GTP disks.
Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."
I downloaded my windows from dreamsparks microsoft, and im pretty sure it is the full version (not the upgrade). The file size is 3.6GB. I don't know if that can tell which version of windows it is.
I don't know what to do about this problem, I need help please!
    Thanks
