Macbook Pro gets blue screen and resets itself?

I have a 15in Macbook Pro, year 2008. I have Snow Leopard on it.
I bought it refurbished online about two months ago however a few times it has done something none of my other Macs have done and I'm getting concerned. I will have it in sleep mode and when I try to wake it it is frozen. Next thing it does it go to a blue screen then it resets Safari and I have to open a new window and tabs.
What is going on? I had two Powerbook G4's and neither ever did this. I would like to know so I can contact where i bought it since it is under warranty still.
Thanks

Thanks!
Do you have a link? I did a search on APPLE and couldn't find it. I could be searching incorrectly but I put "install disc" in the search engine.
It has been doing it more often and the place where I got said we didn't have the warranty so they won't help. My fiancee got this for me and I was on the phone telling him what to click and he added the warranty but it doesn't show on my purchase order so they won't help. To be honest I don't really want to send it to CA for repairs, I'd rather go thru Apple to get it fixed or looked at. IDK what happened with our order because I know he put in for the warranty and a RAM upgrade (which I still want as well as an HD upgrade) that isn't on here either which I just found out a few days ago when I looked at what the RAM was for school. It's not that big of a deal things happen when ordering online and I dont mind buying the discs if I knew where to get them.
My concern is being the motherboard and if that is what the issue is. That term alone sends chills down my spine, I dont have the best luck with them! The only error message I get sometimes is a CPU error and I haven't a clue what that means. I did pay for a 24hr diagnostic on it before we got it, can things or issues show up later on? I don't do anything crazy online like DL. I only stream Netflix and that is about it.
So Im just at a loss as to why this screen is coming up and why it resets my browser and goes to the desktop screen where I have to reopen all windows and tabs.
Anyway, thanks for your reply. I will try to look more for the discs but if you have a link that would help.

    This problem started month ago.
Laptop sometimes shows "blue screen" for unknown reason, and constantly does it if there is some modern graphical game executing.
After that I always note, that bios' settings were reset to defaults
what do I have to do?

Ok, sounds like some kind of an serious issue. Could be a hardware problem, but thats just an guess of your situation.
Firstly you should perform a BIOS update on your machine to make sure the BIOS rom is OK.
Then, if the problem persists, I would contact an authorized service partner, since the problem seems then more hardware related.
If thats the case, then visit the following link to find the nearest ASP in your country. Send your machine there for an hardware checkup:

after upgrading to ios8 my ipad is getting blue screen and restarting frequently. I restored my ipad from itunes and configured as new, still same issue.

    Hello harichikka,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Since you have already restored your iPad as new, but you're still experiencing this blue screen and restarts, the next step would be to ensure your iPad is up to date, and contact Apple.

  • Iphone 5 keeps getting blue screen and turning off, and wont go bk on

my iphone 5 keeps getting blue screen, turning off and not going bk on for a few hours then it comes on ive reset phone  works then it starts doing same problem over again

    Hey there aussiekris,
It sounds like your phone is unexpectedly turning off. I suggest the troubleshooting steps outlined in this article named:

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Won't wake up from sleep, sometimes get blue screen and can't get it to wor

I have two problems that may be related. I am using a PowerBook G4 (Tiger 10.4.5). Sometimes when I turn it on I get a blue screen and that's it. Nothing else will come up. I have to do a forced shut down and then restart it with the shift key depressed and run repair disk permissions and then it works okay till the next time it decides to return to the blue screen (once a day approx.).
Also, sometimes it goes to sleep and will not wake up. I have to shut it down and then restart it (sometimes getting the dreaded blue screen).
This just started happening after I installed Tiger.

Hi, vfv. Welcome to the Discussions.
    1. You wrote: "Sometimes when I turn it on I get a blue screen and that's it. Nothing else will come up. As Adrian suggests, my "Troubleshooting Startup and Login Items" FAQ can help you determine which Startup or Login item is causing the problem.
    2. As to the sleep problem, here are some ideas for you:2.1. If you are using a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse, see "Mac OS X 10.4 Help: My wireless mouse and keyboard won't wake my computer.".
2.2. Your Mac maybe frozen or hung. Troubleshooting freezes and hangs is not unlike troubleshooting kernel panics: the steps are virtually the same. For a more exhaustive troubleshooting procedure, you could use the steps in my "Resolving Kernel Panics" FAQ.Good luck!

  • Still getting blue screen and restart on 5s

    Hi,
Recently my iPhone 5s has been getting the blue screen and restart bug again. I have had the phone for about 2 months. When I first got the phone I got the blue screen a few times until 7.0.4 got released which seemed to fix the problem.
It has returned in the last week and has become unbareable. I've tried deleting itunes from my mac, reinstalling it and then restoring my phone as a new iphone. I have done this twice and it still hasnt fixed anything. I have disabled icloud completly. Ive deleted nearly every app from my phone too.
Unfortuatly there is no Apple store in Ireland. I dont have 699Euro on my debit card to do the express replacement service. And the carrier I bought the phone from said it can take 3 weeks for them to get a replacement back from Apple.
Ive rang apple and all they could suggest is to get a replacement.
If anyone on here had any suggestions on a fix, I would be very grateful!!

Also, Apple told me it would be 2 weeks if I didnt use their express replacement service. They would send me out a box to send my faulty phone in. Then when they recieve it, they will send me the replacement.
It would take 2-3 working days to do their express replacement. But i need 699 eur in my bank account to do so.
My carrier told me 3 weeks if it was to go through them and they would give me a simple basic Nokia phone for the 3 weeks.. which i dont want.
I dont want to have to go through the hassle of not having a phone, or using a basic one for 3 weeks... So i was hoping someone might have an idea how to fix the problem

  • Macbook Pro had blue screen of death.  Now hard drive wont wake up.  HELP!  Computer keeps freezing and crashing.

About a month ago, the "beach ball" appeared on my screan.  I rebooted the computer only to a blue screen.  Was instructed to Safe Boot and repair my files.  I got the computer to let me in.  My only problem now is, when i open the mac, my hard drive does not make the wake up noise?  Im not so computer savey so im not sure what im experiencing.  My mac also sees the "beach ball" on occasion followed by it freezing and me having to hard reboot it.  What am i experienceing?!  Also when computer is booting up, a black screen with white lettering jimbo-jamble appears for a solid 30 seconds to a minute.  I am worrying because my macbook was bought refurbished about a year ago, never had ANY problems, and JUST LIKE THAT...i got a world of issues.

My mac also sees the "beach ball" on occasion followed by it freezing
    Troubleshoot the spinning beach ball

    Kernel Panics? Don't panic too!
"You need to restart your computer" (kernel panic) message appears (Mac OS X v10.5, 10.6)
I dont have a Apple store around me.  Nearest is around 5 hours away.

  • Early 2011 2GHz Macbook pro distorted blue screen then wont boot, 3 times in last 2 weeks

I have an early 2011, 2GHz macbook pro (15' model with ati radeon graphics). It was running fine for the last two years. Over the last couple of weeks, following things happen:
    1. I was running on bootcamp windows, browsing and some flash content was open, suddenly distorted blue stripes appear and it froze. Force shut down using power button, turn on again and it wont boot on windows or mac, or recovery partition or from the dvd. Tried for about 4 hours, after nvram, pram reset, it was able to safe boot, then run disk utility to verify and repair the disk, it said that there were problems with hard drive and fixed, then booted normally.
    2. I thought that the problem might be because I was on windows, so took a back up of the windows drive, erased it and installed windows 8 using bootcamp. It ran well for an week. After that, once I connected it with the tv using HDMI to watch a video, after I disconnected it, the screen was garbled over the windows start screen, but I was able to command restart normally. After restart, it wont boot to windows or mac.
    3. After several hours of trying, i was able to boot using the dvd this time, it said it 'can not install mac on the hard drive', erased the hard drive and it was able to install the os (snow leopard). After completing install, logged in to app store to download previously purchased mountain lion. Then ran it to upgrade the os, after the upgrade was completed, at the point when it prompts for apple id and password to set up icloud, it again froze with distorted blue screen. Shut down forcefully. Then turn on again and it wont boot. After the white screen and the sound, it shows the apple logo and spinning wheel for a while, then a bright white screen and nothing happens.
Can anybody help reading the symptoms?

I have the Early 2011 2GHz Macbook Pro and I have the same problem too.
I switched out the logicboard a month ago and today the graphics just went distorted.
Any solutions? Now I'm thinking it is the Graphics Card.

  • I have an iMac G4 PowerPC with OS 10.5.? The OS10.5.8 update failed. Now get blue screen and error-can't find Intel Power Manager. What now??

I have an iMac G4 PowerPC with OS 10.5.? After deleting 17G of music files to make room on the 74G drive, The iPhoto and iWeb updates seemed to load okay, but the OS 10.5.8 update failed - message opened said the computer encountered an error and must shut down. Now I get the blue screen. Startup with 'V' pressed shows multiple lines saying: error-can't find IntelCPU Power Manager. What now?? I  reset PRAM, I think.....?????

I am concerned that you might have applied a system updated intended for an Intel iMac, while you have a PPC (non-Intel) iMac. Your PPC OS should not be looking for an "IntelCPU Power Manager."
Have you tried booting from the 10.5 install DVD/CD and repairing the hard drive, plus repairing permissions?
If you done the repairs mentioned above, and your problem still persists, you can also try doing a safe boot. (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455 ) Then, if none of these things worked, if I were in your shoes (it's hard to diagnose these things without being there in person) I would first check that there is adequate disk space, then I would boot from the 10.5 DVD/CD install disk and reinstall the operating system. There is an option to do an archive and install preserving user files/settings, that would be the option you want, as it will save your files but install a new OS. Make sure you have a good backup of your files first. If you do not have one, use "target mode" to copy all your files before embarking on an new OS install. Assuming that you do succeed with this install, then use Software Update to get the right updates for your iMac.

  • My MacBook Pro getting so slow and the temperature  is really high, Please Help :)

I have problems with my MacBook Pro it warming up to much, the temperature reaching up to 98 degrees, I have to work with a fan for my mac, I searched for information on the subject but concludes as discussed in various subjects is manufacturing problem, well that's the first problem, the second and that worries me, from 1 month ago my Mac started getting so slow I cant work on it, then I format it and install the Lion (before was  Snow Leopard that came from the factory when I bought it in April last year) and still with the same problem, looking for solutions I realized that when I work with my mac connected to a power source with the magsafe works perfectly. I perform the hardware test and I get the following error: 4SNS/1/40000001: VPOR-0.592 and can't solve it, I search but no result about this error, also I reset the PRAM and SMC but still the same, my mac just work properly when is plugged to a power source.
    Please help!!!!
    Thanks in advance

At the moment im leaving it running in its current state hoping it will all be sorted once the battery has run out. • Macbook Pro 2011 blue screen with loading icon

I was using my 2011 15 in. (2.0 GHz model) Macbook Pro, when a blue screen popped up for a second or two showing a circular gray loading icon, then disappeared and it looked like I had just logged in. It started to load the dock and desktop icons and my startup programs opened, but it didn't look like it had restarted because it didn't ask for a password, and only lasted a few seconds including the blue screen. At the time it had happened, I was working on a very high poly model in Blender, which might have caused it. I just got this computer, so I really hope there is nothing wrong with it, but I also got a warranty on it, so if there is anything wrong I can bring it in. If anyone knows if this is serious or not, please tell me. Thanks.

Thanks for your response, and since I submitted this question, the same problem happened again. This time I was playing Left 4 Dead 2 on Steam, so I'm noticing a trend where this problem only occurs when I'm working with 3D graphics, which is basically why I got the Macbook Pro in the first place, thinking it would be good with this sort of thing. Interestingly, though, I first played the game on this computer fine at fairly high graphics settings and got a good, steady fps for about an hour, but the second time, when this crash occured, I had only just started. This has gotten me confused and worried, and I'm wondering if I should bring it in to Apple, and if so, if they can fix it. Any answers would be great. Thanks!
