Macbook Pro i7 won't turn on

Hi guys,
Last night, I left my 12 day old Macbook Pro go to sleep (not connected to a power adapter) and this morning there's no one at home. I lifted the lid expecting it to wake up but nothing happened. It appears to be off.
I've:
- taken out the plug for a while and put it back in
- checked the battery which appears to be full and let it charge for a while
- followed the instructions to do a SMC reset
...but none have resulted in me being able to turn it back on. Any suggestions? Or just take it to a store. It's a bit disappointing since it's such a new machine.

Any chance the screen is just dimmed all the way to black? That caught me once in the past.

the battery won’t melt because of long connection to the AC charger, although that has the potential of reducing the battery’s life.
Do you have access to a second 60 W AC charger to test with your MacBook Pro, or access to a second 13-inch MacBook Pro against which your AC charger could be tested?

You put the internal drive in an enclosure. If you choose to keep the drive, you don't need to erase it.

You could try deleting the airpot from the sidebar of system preferences/network. To do this,
1) export the preferences for your airport to your desktop by pressing the gear next to the plus and minus sign above the lock.
2) Delete your airport from the sidebar using the minus sign while the airport is selected.
3) After deleting the airport, apply the changes and then press the plus sign to create a new airport.
4) Then import the preferences back in and apply the changes again.
This may bring your airport back. It worked for me. Alternatively, people have been having success with changing the location of the airport.

We have a 2 year old Macbook Pro that will not turn on. A computer repairman said it's probably the logic board. Does Apple warrant that or are we just out $1,700?

When you attach the power adapter, does the led light up? If so, what color?
What happens if you press the external battery check button?
Have you tried a SMC reset?

Macbook Pro 2011 won't turn on (RAM issue?)

(Macbook pro 2011) I had water damage so I sent in to apple for a complete makeover and they pretty much replaced everything. The laptop seemed to be working fine but the issue is that when I put my laptop to sleep / turn off it won't turn back on. I haven't had the time to take my laptop back to the apple store due to projects / travelling. I've found that there is one quick fix, manually resetting the ram by taking the RAM chips out for a second then re-inserting them. The other way is to hold Command+Option+P+R 3 times before reboot and that'll work temporarily for a day maybe. I plan on taking it to the apple store in a day or so if the problem doesn't resolve itself. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Macbook Pro 15" won't turn on with battery or with power cord

I have a refurbished Macbook Pro, which I believe is a 2009 model. The battery recently was completely drained, and I plugged it in to charge, but all I got was the green light on the power cord. The battery refuses to charge, and I'm not sure if it's possible to run without the battery in, but I tried it and the computer won't start up at all. I tried an SMC reset, but don't think anything happened. Is this a fixable problem, or do I need to take it in?
OS 10.7.5 just FYI, I would provide other specs but I don't know off the top of my head and as per my situation, I cannnot check them.

So it's fully charged. I used it without any problems last night, then shut it down. This morning when I tried to turn it on, it won't. I have Lion installed and am up to date with all of the software updates. There is a green light in the AC adapter. What should I do??

Use the "Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own" method (ie., for all Macbook Pros early-2009 and later). Worked perfectly for me:
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if it's not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

MacBook Pro 15" won't turn on after a shut down.

My MacBook Pro 15" late 2008 mavericks won't turn on after a shut down. Tried SMC reset, plugged and unplugged charger multiple times as well as installing the battery. It has started that after a while I have replaced my old battery with a new one,upgraded to Mavericks and increased my memory to 4GB. In the beginning after I would install every time the battery ,it' would turn on after 8-10 tries. Today it's completely unresponsive . Tested different outlets, with and without battery,nothing worked. I also heard that some other people have this issue once they have updated their operating system from 10.5.8 to Mavericks. Is that the problem.? Has anyone found a solution to this?

I just got my new Macbook Pro 15" 2.66GHz and now it won't turn on. I was using it until it almost didn't have any battery left. Then I was away from it for a while and when I came back I couldn't make it work again. When the power cable is plugged in the little white light on the cover blinks and I can here a strange sound turning on and off again and again - sounding like the harddisk turning on and failing, turning on and failing... Now the power cable has been in the computer for a while but it's still like this and the lamp on the adapter is green - not orange, which it should be when it's charging. This is really bad since I have a lot of work on it, do you know anything? Please and thank you.

If the little light on the front of the MBP is still on, hold down the power button until it turns off and all signs of activity stop. Then reset the SMC:

Reconnect the AC adapter. Does it begin charging now (orange light on the plug)? If so, let it charge for half an hour and then try starting it up again. If that works, it's ready to use normally.

Hey guys, I am computer illiterate as far as hardware goes, so I hope someone can help me. I have a 2009 MacBook pro, and today was the first day I have ever had a problem with it. It won't turn on, however the little power indicator light does come on and it stays on. The battery indicator is green. The keyboard isn't working because when I press on the caps lock button it doesnt turn green. I tried to charge my IPhone to it to see if it was getting enough power, and the IPhone didn't charge. So I'm guessing that my MacBook isn't getting enough power, could it be this simple or more severe.

It sounds like your MBP doesn't produce a startup chime that is an indication that the POST, Power On Self Test, has failed which means that it has hardware problems that are serious enough to prevent POST from completing successfully.
You are either going to have to do some serious troubleshooting to find out what part of the MBP has failed or take it to Apple and ask them to fix it for you. They will give you an estimate after they see it so that you can decide if you are going to have it fixed or not.

try a reset first. Shut down, unplug for at least 15 seconds then plug and wait 5 seconds and restart.

MacBook Pro screen won't turn on

Yesterday my MacBook Pro unexpectadly shut off. It then would not turn back on and it became warm. You could also hear the fans blowing beneath, at one point it got so loud at night that I took the battery out so I could sleep. Today around 2:30 I tried to put the battery back in to see what it would do, and again nothing happened. My battery indicates about an 80% charge. I went to my schools tech help department and there we took the battery out and then held the power button for a few seconds, put the battery back in, and then it turned on (finally!). However, i stepped away for a few minutes a few hours later and it idled and then shut off and now I cannot get it back on (even with the method the tech people showed me). I'm confused and a student that really needs my computer, especially since there is no wireless in my dorm so I can't use my iPad. Any suggestions? I'm in desperate need of help!

Age is not a determinant of the failure of a MBP. I have an original 2006 MBP that is in 100% working order. The model number for a MBP can be found in SYSTEM PROFILER>HARDWARE OVERVIEW.
It sounds to me that an appointment an Apple store is in order for a definitive diagnosis.

Macbook pro fans won't turn on

So, I have a Macbook pro (15", 2.35 ghz, mid 2009) and have had a LOT of issues with it. While under apple care they all got taken care of, most recently I had everything replaced when they shipped it incorrectly back to me and the battery blew up and I got a new logic board, display, bottom case.. etc. My coverage shortly ran out, and now I'm running into a major problem.
My fans will NOT turn on. Ever. I installed smcfancontrol and basically no matter what I set the speed to, my fans remain at 000rpm. Also, I feel like when I first installed smcfancontrol i had both 'right' and 'left' fans, but now I only have 'left' as an option (but maybe im imagining that?). Anyway, my computer will get up to 105 degrees (celcius), occasionally if I have just too many tabs open, but usually if I'm trying to play a video. If I try to play something on YouTube or Netflix, it gets to 105 almost immediately and I have to stop the video. Randomly my computer will be down in the 50s-60s range, but typically it's running at 80/90/+, and there doesn't seem to be any common link
In addition to smcfancontrol, I also tried uninstalling any/all fan controlling programs, doing a few restarts once the trash was emptied, and then doing both an SMC reset and a PRAM reboot. Afterwards, I checked out iStat which told me "Fans: Left fan 0rpm". I was advised to try smcfancontrol again, and still, I only get left fan and 000rpm. I am a recent college grad trying to find a job, I cannot afford to get my computer fixed through apple (YET AGAIN!) without coverage so I'm really hoping there is something that I can do to try and fix this. Desperate for advice, thanks!

update: i forgot because it's been so long, but every now and then, if i hold the computer at a certain angle, and it's in a really good mood, the fan will kick on high. But not everytime i hold it at a specific angle. sometimes if i move it, the fans will shut off, and i can try to put it back in the same exact position and nothing will happen. Which tells me that the fan physically works, so i'm assuming it's a logic board problem??
