Hi
I've just bought a MacBook pro Dual core Intel and Ive noticed that when it goes into standby the fan comes on very loud and stays on. Do you if there is a way to solve this?
Thanks

Is your machine under the store replacement policy period?
If it is, contact them and ask for a replacement.
If it isn't, run the hardware test:

And give the results to AppleCare:

  • My Macbook pro didn't come with any restore disks, How can I make some?

I was just curious, Macs and Macbooks used to include restore disks. My new Macbook Pro did not come with any so how do I create a set?

Though these instructions are for Mt. Lion, they will work for Mavericks as well.  Making one one of these will free you from depending upon Apple servers if the need should arise.

  • We have had to change to a new router but the Macbook Pro still reverts to the old router.  How can this new one be made the default?

We have had to change to a new router but the Macbook Pro still reverts to the old one. How can we lose this and make the new router the default?

Go to "Network" under system preferences and choose "advanced"
On the Wi-Fi tab you can sort the sequence of the preferred connections.
Then just move your new router to the top of the list.

  • Can MacBook Pro Intel core i7 (2012) run OS10.6.8

I just purchsed a refurbished MacBook Pro thinking it would use OSX 10.6.8. This is because most of the software I have may not run on Lion. It just hit me that this computer was manufactured in June 2012 so probably will come with Lion installed. Does anyone know if it will run OS 10.6.8? It is a
15.4-inch MacBook Pro 2.7GHz Quad-core Intel i7. Not the end of the world if it comes with Lion, but a lot less expensive if I don't have to update all the software.
OR can you tell me how to find this out (who to contact.)
    Thanks

    Check it out here:
      Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
You will find that any older software that requires Rosetta to run with Snow Leopard will not run in Lion or Mountain Lion. If it's just a matter of minor incompatibilities, then the developers have probably already produced newer versions. Just check them out.
This I can guarantee, however, is that you cannot run Snow Leopard on that model.

    Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
If this does not help, you may have to take the MBP to the Apple Store  to have it checked.

  • MacBook Pro A1126 fans goes 'crazy'

My MacBook Pro A1126 fan makes a lot of noise when I use it for intense gaming for hours,
    My Mac specs
    OS - Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.4 & Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit ( Boot Camp )
Processor - 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory - 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM ( Originally 2 GB, upgraded to 4 GB )
Graphics - NVIDIA GeFore 8600M GT 128 MB
How do I stop the fan noise or at least reduce the noise,by the way it's from the left fan & there are two fans in the MacBook Pro...
    Thanks in advance!

Games use a lot of CPU/GPU resources and that creates a lot of heat   The fans are supposed to spin faster in order to dissipate that heat.  It sounds that what you are experiencing is normal.
If one fan is significantly louder than the other, Courcoul's advice should be taken.
Since you have a 6 year old MBP, it may be a good idea to open it up and see if there is dust, dirt and debris inside that should be cleaned out.  That could have a very positive affect in the cooling process.
    Ciao.

  • Macbook pro(intel based) all apps hang but mouse still work

My Macbook Pro(intel) running OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.1 has started hanging after the last OS upgrade.  All apps stop responding but the mouse pointer contines to function, though mouse click doesn't respond as all apps are not responding.
    Any ideas or suggestion?

Yes, I have this problem as well. Although it only happens once I have resumed the computer from standby/sleep mode.
I haven't contacted Apple yet as it has only happened again recently and I put the first time down to a once off. I really hope this is not a hardware issue as I am already suffering from airport related kernel panics.
Anyway, from browsing the internet somebody mentioned that disabling "accidental input" in System Preferences/Keyboard & Mouse may solve the problem. I have done that and it hasn't happened again yet. Although, this is not an ideal solution.
Please let me know if you hear of any developments. I was hoping that switching to Mac might get rid of all my computer troubles (previously XP) but all I've had is problem after problem .

  • Wireless N upgrade for Macbook pro Intel Core Duo (Purchased 8/2006)???

Firstly, I am a little angered that apple has not come out with any directly supported options to allow people with my macbook pro to upgrade to the new wireless N capability.
Therefore I have found a 3rd party option that is being offered by fastmac (http://fastmac.com/ncard.php) that will allow for wireless N wifi.
My only concern is if having this installed (professionally by them or by an authorized reseller, say compusa) would cause my entire applecare warranty to be voided or just the part that covers the wireless card. I could deal with having the wireless card voided as it would be under warranty by fast mac...
Macbook pro intel core duo   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Your warranty is not voided by installing the Airport card. However, any damage that may be caused by the installation of the card would not be covered under the warranty.
Secondly, the Airport Extreme card that supports 802.11n is available as an upgrade kit for Mac Pros. Some Apple dealers may be able to obtain and install the card for you in your computer.

  • 2012 MacBook Pro Intel i7 (purchased May 2013) constantly drops airport connection. My 2006 MacBook Pro has no problems connecting and staying connected.

I received a 2012 MacBook Pro INtel i7 for my birthday this May 2013. It constantly drops my airport connection. My ancient 2006 MacBook Pro has no problem connecting to airport, nor staying connected. I've had to write this message several times as I keep losing the airport connection and have to reconnect. BTW: I am less than five feet from the airport base.
    Thanks for help.

After trying all of the above the suggestions, the problem returned as before. However, after digging some more I discovered that the issue appears to lie with the 10.4.10 version of the Mac OS; when I checked the software log under the system profiler I noticed that I had installed that update at about the time my Airport problems began. Apple then quietly released a v 1.1 combo update to 10.4.10 on July 2nd, which once installed appears to have resolved the problem. You can find the download at http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10410comboupdatev11intel.html
What's curious is that originally Apple listed that the v 1.1 combo update resolved some issues with RAW image data, and some sound problems, which don't seem to have anything to do with Airport.

  • My computer is a MacBook Pro Intel core duo, and I need to know if I can run the new Lion OS?

My computer is a MacBook Pro Intel core duo, and I need to know if I can run the new Lion OS?  The Apple web says must have Intel Core 2 Duo. Please advise. Not knowledgeable enough to know if not having the 2 between Core and Duo is a stopper.  Appreciate any guidance.

The difference between a Core Duo and a Core 2 Duo is a show stopper when it comes to running Lion.  The Core Duo is still only a 32 bit chip, but the Core 2 Duo is a 64 bit chip.  You need the 64 bit chip to run Lion.
