Macbook Pro is gone.... Help!

Long story short, it fell over 4 stories onto concrete, landing ever so gracefully on the lcd. I am pretty sure the computer is destroyed, lcd is totally shattered, case is bent.... yeah
Question: the harddrive is sata. I already tried to do firewire target mode but the macbook pro will not even turn on, much less let me hold the t button.
When i put the drive in a firewire 800 enclosure, it was clearly on and spinning, but the drive would not mount on my imac (I need to get my data off!)
Any ideas? Thank you all

You can try using a data recovery software utility to recover the data from the drive, but a four-story fall onto concrete qualifies as, shall we say, extreme abuse, and the drive may have been destroyed even if the heads were parked at the time. If one of these utilities doesn't show anything recoverable (as may be the case if the drive is mechanically crippled), then a data recovery service may be your only hope (and a very costly one).
Data Recovery software
Data Rescue
FileSalvage
VirtualLab
All three come in demo versions that will show you what the full version could recover before you have to pay for anything.
Good luck!

The only way to get it back is a hard reset or let the battery die and then plug in the charger.  The brightness is up and the power stays on while screen is black.
This is the second macbook pro i have owned in the past two weeks.  I am ready to return it for good if this is a chronic issue. Please help if you have had this same issue.

    Try a SMC reset:

  • HT204406 iTunes Match saying I'm limited to 5 devices...but I don't have 5 devices and won't work on my MacBook Pro. Please Help!

I've just got a new MacBook Pro, and want to have iTunes Match on it. But when I go to 'add this computer' in iTunes on the MacBook, a message comes up saying I've reached my limit of Match being on 5 devices. This makes no sense because I only have match on my iPad and my old Windows laptop and nothing else.
Out of curiosity, I turned off iTunes Match on my iPad to see what would happen, but I still cannot get Match on my MacBook Pro.
    Please help!

    Do a backup before proceeding.
Try putting the 10.6.3 disk in the computer. During a restart, hold down the option/alt key, select the disk, and see if you can boot from there. If so, select the language, then go to the Utilities menu, and select Disk Utility. Check to see what partition scheme you have by selecting the hard drive.
If you don't have GUID, you are going to need to erase the drive and reformat, which will cause you to lose all your data. Did I mention doing a backup?
If you do have GUID, run Disk Utility repair disk and repair permissions. You may have to do this more than once. Then try in install 10.6.3.
If successful, use the combo update to get to 10.6.8 and then run Software update until there are no more updates.

My Airport Extreme cannot be discovered by my macbook pro. Need help.

New, out of the box, the AirPort Extreme is broadcasting a wireless signal with a name like Apple Network xxxxxx.
If you want to configure the AirPort Extreme using wireless, you must log on to this network first from your Mac.
Click the AirPort icon at the top of the screen, click Join Other Network, click Show Networks, select the Apple Network xxxxxx and log on. No password is required. Then open AirPort Utility.
    Or
If you have a spare Ethernet cable handy, connect it from your Mac to one of the LAN <-> ports on the AirPort Extreme to establish a direct connection. Then open AirPort Utility.

I am getting white screen of death on my Macbook Pro, can someone help please?

Intermittent or inconsistent situations as you describe are the most difficult to resolve.  First step you should do is be certain that you have your data backed up.  I suggest that you do this by creating a bootable clone using Carbon Copy Cloner.  The advantage to this is that not only is it a backup but can immediately be used to run your MBP in the event of an internal HHD failure.
The article that I gave you to start your search contains a link to this article:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3353
Though lengthy, it can resolve most issues if you go through all of the sections.  If you cannot achieve success, then an Apple store genius bar is the last option.
    Ciao.

There's a new driver bundle for OSX 10.6 that you might need to install, the HP link seems to be failing at the moment but there's a version of it here: HP_Installer_Scanjet_v2.4.3_Ph4.dmg
There's a piece on the HP Forum about it here (some folks have problems installing ...)

  • Just got a new I-pad and changed my Apple ID and password.  Now the itunes I had on my macBook Pro are gone.  How do I get the contents back?

How can I get my original i-tunes to show up on my macbook pro?  I changed my Apple ID and password and now it's nowhere to be found.  Can someone help me?
    Thanks

When you say "account," do you mean your iTunes library, because your iTunes library is what is on your computer?  Your iTunes library does not have an email address.  An account that is related to iTunes is your Apple ID (which is an email address) and you use it as your user name to sign in to the iTunes Store, to make purchases.  Changing your Apple ID will not make songs disappear from your computer's iTunes library.
If you had an Apple ID and used it to make song purchases from the iTunes Store, and then started using a different Apple ID, you should be able to re-download the songs purchased with the old Apple ID.  In iTunes, sign in to the iTunes Store using your OLD Apple ID (and password).  That may not be your current email address, but Apple uses it as your user name, so it does not matter.
On the iTunes Store Home screen, click on Purchased under QUICK LINKS.  This takes you do the Purchased screen, where you can re-download previous song purchases (for that Apple ID) at no cost.
NOTE:  If those song purchases are from more than a few years ago, you may also need to authorize your computer to play (and sync) songs for your old Apple ID.
For songs that were not purchased from the iTunes Store, if they are also gone, you cannot get them back unless you have a backup (or they are still loaded on your old iPod).
If that's not what you mean by "changed the email address on my account," please post back with more details.

  • MacBook Pro crashing-need help

I have a MacBook Pro (mid 2012) running Mountain Lion. Today I hooked an external monitor to it, a Samsung 24" LED HD. It worked great for about 20 minutes and then the screen started flashing on and off. I tried to restart my computer and a window came up to reinstall from backup, reinstall Lion, use disk first aide or a clean install. None were good choices. Yesterday I had bought a new external hard drive and had planned to set up time machine tonight, so no back up yet. I ran disk first aide and it found no problems on the HD, but the permissions were wrong on several files, mostly iTunes files. One however, was something in the systems files and it said that it would not be repaired. I am currently reinstalling the operating system and hoping that my files are not gone. I am now afraid to try hooking the monitor back up. Has anyone else had this kind of problem when using a Samsung monitor? I did not download anything during the short time that I was using the external monitor and only went to a couple of websites that I normally go to. Any suggestions on what might have caused the crash? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
I just tried re-installing Lion and after about 30 minutes, it came up and said that there was an error and it could not install. I am trying again.

The startup disk may need repairing.
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Select:  Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If the startup disk needs repairing, follow the instructions here.
While you have the startup disk selected in Disk Utility check Capacity and Available at the bottom of the window.
Make sure there's at least 15% available disk space.
And that S.M.A.R.T. Status says Verified

  • New macbook pro problem, plz help

hey everyone.i just bought the new macbook pro last week, 15" i7core 2ghz. i am a very serious musician, and im going going to university next year to study music, the whole reason i bought this computer is for recording, all the musicians i know who are serious/professionals use macs. when i first turn on my computer everything is fine, but once i plug my guitar in through my zoom g2.1u pedal, garageband freezes and i have to force quit it, this just started happening within the past 2 days.for the first week i recorded with it fine.  it was also happening yesterday without even plugging in my guitar at all. when this happens the internet also shuts down. when i open safari it doesnt say you are not conncted to the internet, it just has a blank white page. when this happens everything else isnt working right either, everything is slow and laggy. i paid alot of friggin money for this thing and i wanted to keep it clean the only things ive done to it were, i took some mp3, pdf and guitar pro files from my old windows xp onto my mac through a usb stick, downloaded a mp3 from online and set a cool backround as my desktop. I thought macs were supposed to be resilient? or do i just have a defective one. these problems are quite specific but if i cant use garageband/record with my mac theres not a rly a point of me having one.
i hope someone can help me out here.

  • My Internet (or maybe wifi) is not working on my MacBook Pro, can anyone help?

Hi everyone, I am having a problem with my Internet that started today.  I have a MacBook Pro (Mac OS X, Version 10.6.8, Safari is Version 5.1.10). I noticed my Internet was working normally in the morning, but after about 5-10 minutes the Internet stopped working.
-The wifi icon in the top right displayed as full, so that struck me as weird.
-The other laptops in my house are not having this issue, or the wifi on my phone, so I do think its something with my MacBook Pro.
-I used the Network Diagnostics to see if it helps.
-I noticed the 3 listed items on the left hand side (Airport, Airport Settings, Network Settings) are in green. But, the last 3 items (ISP, Internet, Server) are in red.
-I clicked Start Over -> Airport -> click Continue -> Selected my Airport network from the list -> click Continue: then all 6 items on the left hand side turn green.
-My Internet will work then for about 5-10 minutes before it turns off again, and then if I check my Network Diagnostics it will have the same first 3 items in green, the last 3 items in red.
-If I repeat the process as listed above, all will go green again. But, the internet will work again for about 5-10 minutes before turning off.
    -This process keeps on repeating.
-Note: I got a popup to upgrade to OS Mavericks the other day, but I didn’t upgrade yet.
-Note: I dont know too much about computers and I am not that technically savy.
-Does anyone know what could be going on?

  • MacBook Pro dead, need help urgently please!

    My mac has died. It's really urgent to fix because I have a degree project to submit in 2 days! Many thanks in advance for help;
Yesterday my mac froze up ( nothing would move appart from the cursor ). I hit the off button and my mac takes about 15-20 minutes to load up. When it does load its veeerrrryyyy sluggish and the beach ball whirls. It also popped up with a circle with a line through it, its stopped doing that since turning on and off a few times.. I tried reinstalling lion from command R at restart. This worked but didn't fully erase everything and I still have the same issue. I now can't go to the recovery menu on restart it just goes straight to log in so I am unable to fully erase everything.
    Computer specs:
MacBook pro mid 2009 running 10.7.3 Lion.
    2.66 dual core
    8 gig ram
    320 hard drive.
Any help would be most appreciated!!!
    Many thanks!

I have the disc assistant on an SD connected to USB but my computer will only open it with disc utility. Is there anything I coud do?
The program you download is meant to be downloaded and run from OS X on a working Lion Mac (not your sick one) to copy the Recovery HD Partiton of their Lion Mac to the USB thumb drive (properly formatted) then you take it to the sick Mac and can hold the option key boot off of it.
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/08/08/lion-recovery-disk-assistant-tool-makes-external- lion-boot-recovery-drives/
Once you get your computer booted off the Recovery USB, you connect a blank external drive and install Recovery HD and OS X Lion onto that from the Recovery USB using your AppleID and password.
Once you got that done, then you hold the option key down and boot the computer off the external drive, which the internal drive can be seen when you do Finder > Go menu > Computer and click on your internal boot drive.
Then you open the Users folder and copy your User to the external drive your booted from.
Once you have gotten your User folder copied off the machine, you can choose to run the comptuer off the external drive until your ready to have it fixed.
If you can't handle all this, then call a local Mac/PC computer person to do it for you, as Apple may just replace the drive and tell you tough luck charlie, you should have made a backup.
